"My friend and I have just returned from this venue. Food was good and everyone should find something they like. Wine and beer on tap. We did meet people who were not too happy, but I came back heavier than I went.{Not so good). Our room overlooked the pool, gardens well maintained and beautiful. Our room was kept to a very high standard. The staff friendly and work very hard. The entertainment staff at pool - LOVELY - especially {he said his name was fatty} BUT DONT THINK SO. He is Tunisian and a lovely lovely person. Talks to everyone. The girls are the same - beautiful and friendly. Met lovely lovely people, Sarah. Emma, Dominic and Claire, Ellis and Keith - thankyou all for a lovely week, you made two OAPs very happy with lots of laughs, Gill and Ann x "

"My girlfriend and I came here first week in Oct 2010 allocation on arrival, first impressions are deceiving but as it turns out we enjoyed our stay. One major gripe is NO diet soft drinks in the all inclusive, but tell them you're diabetic and they'll put some in the fridge for your use. Very naughty of the tour operators not to mention this. this leads to the next gripe ONE rude member of staff a he was behind the bar the rest of the great food really good and always a smile from the staff in the dining room. The rooms are basic but I'm lead to believe that's what you get in Rhodes. The Rooms were cleaned every day. the beach and main town are quite a walk away but the free shuttle bus to the beach was good and we made use of it a couple of time with no hassle.
We had a nice relaxing time here and would come back but now we know what to expect "

"before my boyfriend and i went to the golden oddssey i was more than a little nervous after reading lots of negative reviews but i was pleasently surptised. it was a lovely hotel with friendly staff The food was good maybe on occasion a little basic but hot and pleantiful, and there were great salads. the drinks were a bit on the small size but not regulated in any way, you could have as many as you could carry, and the staff were all really friendly. The hotel was a little remote but there was a bus service into the local town, Rhodes town and Lindos. and it was really cheap, just 3 euros to rhodes Town for example you could walk into Kolymbia town in around 15 minutes but the bus cost just 1 euro!!. our room was very clean and a good size, it was cleaned every day and the girls were very polite and really did a good job. wehad a relaxing holidat with great weather and i would really reccommend this hotel to antone, therte was a good sized pool and loads of sun beds large seating areas and lots of room to move around the place, there were tennis courts table tennis areas and pool tables. So dont take any notice of the negative reviews, try the golden oddssey for youself, it was a lovely holiday"

"The Golden Odyssey in Kolymbia was a lovely hotel, the staff were very helpful, kind and were always smiling. The food was great, although it was mostly the same every day it was great! The breakfast was very nice! Everyday there was a cooked breakfast, sasuages, bacon every other day, eggs, beans, then there was a selection of cereals and there was fruit with greek yoghurt, everyone has to try it because it is really good! Lunch was by the pool, chips, rice, meat, salad, spaghetti etc, very selective, great food, the breakfast and dinner is served in the restuarant. The toast in the breakfast is perfectly fine, the wait isnt that long, and they have butter, jam, marmalade etc. Going to dinner was very nice, everyone dressing up in their nicest clothes, plenty of tables to choose from. The waiters and waitresses very professional, the food for dinner was lovely, pasta, soup, chips, rice, lovely lasagne and vegetarian options, you have to go really to experience it yourself! Ice-cream and cake for desert. Moving on to the bar, staff were very good and immediately took your order, very impressed, cake served after breakfast and before lunch with pizza, and little light snacks after lunch till about 4! The entertainment people were very effciant. Music during pool hours, aerobix, dancing, pingpong, darts, games, water polo and entertainment during evening, eating fire, karaoke, bingo and plenty more, drinks served till 11:00pm and after you have to pay. I must say the room was adequate, tv,fridge, bed, bathroom, shower bath, balcony, great views, the pool massive, big pool with shallow and deep end, baby pool for younger children, fountain and goal nets. sunbeds and shade areas, paths leading to rooms, play area etc. This was the best holiday I have been on in my life, I recommend for family with children as if you would prefer a less busy holiday the Golden Odyssey isnt for you. Hope you go to the Golden Odyssey as it is a very welcoming and relaxing place to be.

"Me and my Boyfriend booked this holiday then read the reviews. After reading them we were really worried that the holiday was going to be bad. However it was probably one of the best holidays ive been on. So don't beleive all the bad reviews. Yes the rooms are basic but that's Greece. Although the food wasnt labled it was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful, it was very clean, the pool was nice, the animation team during the day and night were very friendly and fun, the bar stayed open to around about 12. A few reviews moaned about the walk to the beach. The walk to the beach and all the shops and bars is a straight forward 10-15min walk. We spoke to a few other visitors and they agreed with us that you shouldnt trust the reviews because we had a great time and would consider going back on another holiday. "

Sociable & relaxing

"The wife & I had a great time here. We made new friends from England & Germany. The evenings were good social affairs & a good laugh. Although the laid on entertainment could have been a bit better, ( bingo is not to everyones taste!) if you make the effort to join in, you'll soon find yourself having fun. Remember, you are on holiday you know. Chill out!
Accommodation was very basic but adequate. Very clean with a nice balcony. Hey! We only used it to sleep in & get dressed. Food was great! Good variety & very tasty. Loved the salads! We both put on weight during our stay!! (some Brits did moan about the food, but I can't understand why. Burger 'n' chips brigade I assume.) Pool was nice with plenty of sunbeds available. You could just help yourself to beer as there was a tap next to the bar for customer use. (great idea!)All inc drinks were Ouzo, brandy, gin, vodka, wine & beer, & some cocktails. What I did find odd was that no diet drinks were available on all inc. But we were annoyed that the bar shut prompt at 23:00 each night without warning!
Staff were friendly enough, especially if you made the effort to show interest in learning a few Greek words.
Beach was a short stroll away (although the wife described it as a long walk!) taking you past a lot of shops, making the walk more interesting. The beach itself is not that great. You can also get to the beach using a back road taking you past olive groves & many fruit trees.
Visiting Rhodes town & Lindos is a must! The bus stops right outside the hotel & costs 3 Euros. But remember to tell the driver when you want to get off as he'll just drive on past the hotel!
All in all, we found the hotel to be a nice place just to chill & relax & get away. It is definitly not a 4 star hotel, (more like 3) but very nice just the same, & very clean.
If you're after a wild time this place is not for you. If you want somewhere to relax & put your feet up in the sun (with cold beer on tap) & enjoy a sociable evening making new friends & watching the entertainment, then this ia a good place to come."

"myself and my husband have just got back from this place thats in the middle of nowhere to get to the shops its miles away and so is the beach, but there is a bus which take you to the beach then forgets to bring you back, and thats a mile walk back. the food is the same day in day out theres no choice no labels to say what your eating. breakfast was a joke you only have toast every other day only one toaster with 5 slots so if you wanted toast you had a very long wait. the people in the hotel are very rude, this hotel is not a 4 star hotel l would say it was 1 star and no more. the night we were coming home we were being picked up at 3.45 so we got comfy watching tv at 12.00 the owners come in turned the tv off and all the lights and left us all in darkness which l thought was very rude indeed so we had to sit in darkness no tea or coffee no tv and a very long wait in the dark so please before you book this holiday hotel read all the reviews. the only thing what was good was the entertment which was great."

Fantastic island, obnoxious owners

"We have recently been on a holiday to Rhodes, which to be honest could have been a lot better. Our hotel was the acclaimed 4* Golden Odyssey in Kolimbia. If that was a 4* then I would hate to see what the 2 and 3*\'s were like. The hotel although clean in communal areas, was let down by a truly awful Superior family room. We arrived in the early hours of the morning on 6th August to find a large lead pipe jutting out of the bathroom floor, a doorframe which moved entirely, a hole in the wall which have been covered by a hanging sheet of metal and a scrap of carpet on some stairs which looked like the it hadn\'t seen a hoover in over 10 years....oh I have forgot to mention that we were on a family holiday, the first in 5 years with an 8 year old and a 16 month old toddler.
The hotel itself was run by the most arrogant, obnoxious, rude family...who payed no attention to the English customers, even when one child slipped and badly injured her wrist. It was embarrassing to watch as they treated their staff as slaves, by clicking fingers, jangling rosary beads...and even having the shear ordasity to get their paying customers moved from behind them whilst watching the Tuesday night traditional Greek entertainment. Never have we been so appalled in all of our lives at the way in which people were treated. All I can say is that the staff need a huge backbone to carry on working for the owners.
We paid 2000 pounds for our holiday, which I can honestly say makes me feel sick to the stomach after experiencing what we did....I cannot believe that Olympic actually endorse such a hotel and at such a high standard and can only hope that this hotel comes under severe scrutiny from yourselves. There was complete misrepresentation on your website as we had assumed from that the hotel would be pleasant, and expecting a superior room in a 4* hotel would be substantially better than what we actually got.
I asked for us to change hotel to one of a higher standard but was told unfortunately that there wasn\'t any available for the 2 weeks we were there, so we have to endure 2 weeks in that place. Suffice to say we will not be recommending that hotel to anyone..... Toto, Annie and Ahmed you are true treasures to that hotel......"

"We had a fantastic time at this hotel. The rooms were cleaned every day, the food was nice and the kids loved the pool. Toto (animation team) was great at trying to get people involved. We played water polo, aqua aerobics and volleyball. We found most of the staff very friendly, they do work very hard.

There is a free minibus from the hotel to the beach, or you take the walk into town to the other part of the beach. The walk is about 25 minutes. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, and you can visit Lindos and also Rhodes old town. We found both places really nice."

We had a fantastic time. The Hotel was great. The rooms were cleaned every day. The staff were friendly. The food was excellent, a great choice and always plenty of it.The guests were a good mix, not just English but spanish, Greek, Italian, French, German. The animation was ok in parts, Toto did however make the holiday for my teenage daughter, on the first night he dragged her and another girl over to a 3rd girls' table and made them talk too each other, a friendship forged that lasted all week, thank you Toto."
