" this hotel is very clean, has a fantastic pool with plenty of sunbeds so no rushing for them, the staff are really friendly and helpful, there is a chinese resturant open in the evenings whice you have to book for that is really great, also there is an italian resturant you book for in the evening, that is open for late breakfast, after that it is italian food till about three in the afternoon with no booking just go any time, really good to, the main resturant lets it down that is very basic but it didn't spoil our holiday we still had plenty to eat and drink "

Good stay bit secluded!
"On the 11th september (2010) me my fiance his parents and brothers and wife stayed at this hotel for one week. We arrived quite late (11'oclock) We had been travelling since 1400 and was very tired. The receptionist checked us in very quickly and we requested certain rooms be near each other. She was very helpful and polite So we took our bags to the room and realised we'd been given sea view.. we did not pay extra for sea view so we was very happy. There was one problem when we arrived there was no where to eat.. we were starving! lol. bit of a downfall for late arrivals. The hotel is very clean all the time, the maids/cleaners work all day cleaning the hotel. The rooms were average very clean and bright the balcony is also very clean and lovely to sit on. When i read on here about the planes flying over and reading moaning people how they fly all night ect. Well we thought this was fantastic you see the planes upclose flying and its good to see! i never heard the planes at night after 1130, to be honest you dont tend to hear them that bad in the room. The pool cant fault it, bit cold lol but decent size good location to bar and rooms (u dont have to walk miles to it) and very clean. Looks lovely at night. Dont panic! there are more then enough sunbeds, the hotel was full when we were there and still plenty of sunbed and places to sit. (a few ignorant english people when they arrived starting hogging them) The all inclusive I have to say is the best all inclusive i have been to.. good drinks at night, nice beer, ect. The food changes everyday different theme every night which was good. chinese was lovely shame its a set menue tho. The italian is rubbish at night but at lunch time really good! spagetti bolognes pizzas carbonara lots more advise eating here a few days really nice part of hotel also. few different bar areas nice every where. the location well... if you like quiet not much near and a bit of a walk to go somewhere perfect hotel literally from your room a stone through away from the beach! however if you like me and my fiance we like to walk to the town and things like that not very good.. to secluded. bus stop a 10-15 minute walk up a dirt road. taxi costs 14euro and 12 euro back one or two did charge us 14 back. taxi to the airport varys a bit we got told 14 euro but then came to 17 euro.. The entertainment, debs is great she really trys and has a laugh with you very friendly and funny. however the other animation lady (only2-3 of them) austrain lady very hostile and hard to talk to very rude and not very good!! Well done Debs for good hols. Teh tina turner show worth a see but all other nights rubbish at night. its 60euro to have a late checkout!!! expensive yes! or you can go at 1500 on day of departure and get put in a que to use a room for 10 minutes!!! thats to get showered and dress if two ofyou you get 20 minutes.. not very good for that to be honest#!!! Overall really nice hotel would go back if got cheap enough... "

"Had the most fantastic holiday. Just got back from the best time ever. Food good. Staff good. Entertainment team make you feel special and make you enjoy your holdiay. Special shout out to Shona, she does the kids club, is fantastic with the kids makes them all feel comfortable and happy. When your child asks to see Shona, wants to see Shona then you know the club is the best. Shona is also fantastic with the adults in the evening she mixes with all age groups making your holiday that bit more special. The other team members of the animation team were also excelent. Would def come again."

"Before we went I did read some reviews and got myself a little worried..But when I arrived I can not believe the complains people have about this hotel...It is near the beach in a quiet area...For the beach you need shoes because it has stones on it...but those you can find in the little shop and are cheap enough....If you like to go to Rhodes old town the bus is near (about 5 minutes walk) or you can take a taxi..cost bus for 2 adults and 1 kid is about 5 euro 50 and a taxi is round 12 euro. Food was great...Breakfast outstanding....and what is nice of this hotel you have a choice to eat out in the grounds itself....you need to book it soon after arriving because places will go fast... they have a Chinese and a Italian to go for dinner...and those are fantastic...makes a different for the also good buffet food....For lunch you can also go to the Italian without booking...During dinner you need to be dressed appropiatly, swimwear, 3/4 trousers are not allowed but only long trousers....so don't forget to pack them. In the afternoon they do a english tea hour with cookies, sweets and cold snacks..really nice....but you have to be on time when it opens because it will run out fast. We loved seeing the planes fly over the hotel...they are not that noisy at all..and gone within 10 seconds..when in the room with door closhed you can not hear them at all...for me this can never be anything to complain about knowing were the hotel is and knowing were the airport is...No need to book a transfer..take a taxi..cost round 15 euro. The main pool is beautiful..special in the night looking at it with the lights on....my 10 year old daughter spend most of her time in the pool.....they also have a small children pool..They have enough sunbeds we never had to have a fight about one..so no need to be up at 5 in the morning to put towels out...and if they would run out they have enough gras around the pool to put a towel on...and those would be shaded from the trees around it pool. The staf is friendly and the rooms and hotel are very clean...Also toilets near pool are kept very clean...my daughter loved that the cleaners did put her nightwear nicely on the bed...just a nice little tough. In the room we had a fridge and when we arrived it had some drinks in...very nice when you arrive in the middle of the night...it also had bathrobes in the room..and pool towels (blue).maybe the room is a little small when you are with 3 people staying in one room but more then big enough for us...we hardly stayed in the room...far to nice and sunny outside....The beds are a little hard but I have to say I slept good on them. My daughter went couple times to the kids club and had a good time, the girls who run the entertainment are very friendly. ..they have every evening a kids disco.and after that evening entertaiment...some days better then others but we had a great time every night. Water in hotel you can drink so no worries about that..it is nicer to have bottled water but that is a tast thing...Soft and alcoholic drinks are served indoors and outdoors , different bars with different times ....but bars are open from 10.00 till 00.00..They also serve ice cream for kids in the pool bar from 10.00 till 16.00...and cooled water you can get yourself all day. All in all we had a carefree holiday ...in one word GREAT."

Ignore the moaners and go here
"I hate reading the bleating complaints made by people who expect everything to be perfect - grow up and put up with the odd hiccups. Lets put this hotel into perspective. They have to feed 700 people 3 times a day. If you want a 5 star "a la carte" menu go to the Ritz or the Hilton and pay £250 per night but don't expect Gordon Ramsay Michelin star food on holiday. They do a very passable job given the constraints they work under. If you have kids who are fussy eaters take them to McDonalds not a Greek hotel where, surprise surprise, they serve Greek food. The rooms are very clean - If you think they are too small either close your eyes and go to sleep or get out and enjoy your holiday â You didnât go abroad to spend your time in your room. Yes the hotel is under the flight path but it's the arrivals that come over the hotel and they aren't so noisy when they are landing. â The transfer coaches stopping at the hotel all day make more noise but no one seems to mind them. If there was one disappointment for me it's the beach â No sand â Buy a pair of rubber shoes for 5 euros and enjoy swimming in the warm Aegean â That's what I did. Stop moaning and enjoy this hotel for what it is â A good quality holiday hotel in the sun "

"we have just got back from the electra palace. the hotel is right under the flight path, therefore every plane landing into the airport will be heard day and night. the earlist plane i heard coming in in the moring was at 3:30 and the last one coming in for the night was at around 11pm. rhodes is a very hot island. it is nice when you are in a bikini lying in the sun but not if you are having a day trip around the island. it is definitely well in the 40's in the summer. the pool is good, average to big so never overcrowded although the shallow end is around 1.3 m so not good for children the beach is very shingly and pebbley, no sand, the sea does get very deep very quickly however if you swim out far enough you will be able to stand up agian and touch pure golden sand. very wierd. but it is good for skimming stones. there is an kids club for the under 12's with only 2 entertainers, astrid and bjorn. they are good at their job but there does need to be some more activities as there was only yoga, darts, water polo, and beach volleyball. night enterainment was the worst i have ever seen, either people signing beatles or abba songs or a traditional greek dance night or the animation team (boys dressing up as girls) or instruments being played the food is not that good. each night is a selection of food from around the world. so if you don't like chinese etc there is not a lot to choose from on that night. you can choose a selection of drinks for the meal depending on time of meal (beer, red or white wine, juices, coffee or tea, or fizzy, or water definitely book a suite. it will cost more but there is so much more room and you can separate the room into 2 rooms with a sliding door, so good is someone snores. there is a dvd player in the room so bring some along. you can also hire one from reception for 5 euros. there is a fridge in the room with a once only fill up of free drinks. but there is a kettle and coffee tea sugar etc that is refilled every day a lot of old wrinkly french people came who push in front of you and are very loud and they also take up a whole lounge by playing cards every evening. they really do dress up for every meal with loads of make up and jewellery (mutton dressed as lamb). not a nice sight reception staff are helpful and there is 2 bell boys that will take up and bring down suitcases there is no lifeguard there are interent access points that cost 4.50 for 1/2 hour. there are lots of stray cats and dogs. we once saw a dog sitting in the pool. lol "

Impossibly small room.
"We took our Grandson, aged 11, last August. We had to pay full price for him, which made the holiday very expensive. That was OK, if we had been satisfied... However, the room was so small, 2 people would have really struggled, never mind 3. There was one small wardrobe, and a few very small drawers. We would have had to leave most of our clothes in the cases, had we not requested a bigger room. We were given one, at a further charge of £150, for the week. We complained, but to no avail. The annoying thing was, the courtesy room we used, at the end of the holiday, had far more space than the room we were origionally given. (It did look out onto a huge brick wall though) We then had articles stolen, round the pool, and a couple of the bartenders, were very surly. This is one hotel we wont be returning to."

Plane spotters paradise
"My daughter and I visited The Electra Palace in August. The weather was gorgeous, sunny with a breeze. We booked about 10 days before departure through Olympic Holidays who I do not recommend. The rep did not visit the hotel once, not even for a welcome meeting. Their customer service, I found out to our cost, non existent. Other tour operators do feature this hotel. The hotel is clean and the twin rooms are small, but reasonably furnished. Our balcony unfortunately did not catch the sun, but looked out to sea so had a lovely view. The mini bar in our room was re-stocked everyday and the room had tea and coffee making facilities. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom, but the hairdryer was very weak. A small supermarket is by the pool and one just outside the hotel entrance along with a bar, but nothing else. There is a small pebble beach, and the sea during our stay was wild and rough. We have stayed in many 4 and 5 star all inclusive hotels and the Electra Palace is at best a good 3 star. The food is no more than 3 star average, plenty of quantity, but no quality. All meats and fish on the buffet are covered in sauce which quickly forms a skin on top. However, there is a grill that has a âspecialâ of the day meat or fish that is sauce free. The food is pre-cooked and stacked in large hostess trolley type cupboards, so the food is only warm and veg watery by the time it is put out on the buffet. The chips (every meal) seemed to be the only dish cooked fresh and served straight from the kitchen. My daughter is vegetarian and the choice for her was poor. The toaster at breakfast was the best I have come across, very efficient. All the staff work incredibly hard and long hours, but on the whole remain cheerful, always a smile or hello. Please be aware that even, if like in our brochure description, it states WiFi is included in the all inclusive package, it is not and costs 50 euros for 7 days. The pool (freshwater) area is quite pleasant, sun beds, the cheap plastic mesh type, are not all that comfortable and to get a good spot, towels out by 7-45! The entertainment was by far the worst we have come across. The brochure description was I quote âHighly recommended for families keen to enjoy an action-packed stayâ. This was not the case. Daytime entertainment was virtually non existent. During our stay â high season, water polo was offered 3 times, a yoga and dance class once. Hardly action packed. There is a kids club for the under 12âs which was not appropriate to us, but seemed to be enjoyed by those who used it. The evening entertainment was not much better. One evening it was watchable, an Abba tribute band who were quite good, one evening a quiz which was OK and the rest of the evenings were locals singing?! ranging in age from middle age to an OAP playing keyboard and guitars. I agree with the Peter Kay comments! We met some lovely people at the hotel, which we renamed Dull Palace. One word in summary for the entertainment, atrocious. As said before in previous reviews the hotel is on the flight path for the final approach to Rhodes airport. The noise is horrendous and cannot be ignored even inside with closed doors. The flights are day and night, although reduced in number during the night. Be prepared to be woken up every time a plane passes over the hotel. On the busy days I counted (sad I know!) 13 flights before lunch! Then gave up. Afternoon naps by the pool if desired, impossible. You can even hear the engines go into reverse thrust if the wind is in the right direction! We took a taxi to Rhodes Town which is well worth a visit. Lots of the usual tourist shops selling tacky souvenirs, but it is a lovely old cobbled town with a harbour. There is a marina towards the newer part of Rhodes Town. If you venture as far as the marina, just set back under the trees by a small market is an animal welfare charity collecting any euros you can spare between about 11 and 2. They rely on donations to help the sick and abused animals of Rhodes, and are very grateful for donations. We had a nice chat with one of the ladies who helps run the charity and they are doing a wonderful job on very limited resources. If you enjoy quality food, quality entertainment in a quality location, this hotel is not for you. "

Stayed for 7 nights all inc. Second time...
"Stayed for 7 nights all inc. Second time we have been this year, this time we took our 5 year old granddaughter, we love the hotel. The food is lovely (something different every night). The pool is immaculate, rooms are cleaned daily these include mini bar which is free and restocked daily, kettle and tea making facilities. Go for a room with a sea view as view is great watching the ships go by. Down side is hotel is right on flight path so you do get aircraft noise, which didnât bother us as I am an aircraft buff but it could cause some problems. Also hotel not really geared for kids. Kids club is a bit hit and miss and really aimed at Belgian and Italians even though one of the clubs minders is English. Do not book this hotel if youâre looking for bingo and karaoke & games itâs not that sort of place. Hotel is right on the beach which is pebbly and not really for kids; however there are plenty of beds on the beach and by the pool (no commando raids required at 5 am to put towels out. Would we go again? Absolutely but not with nipper in tow, this hotel is definitely only for couples who want a relaxing week or two."

Me and the wife went to Rhodes for first...
"Me and the wife went to Rhodes for first time in 20 years. Beautiful place. Over the moon with hotel as it had just been refurbished to a very high standard. Food was excellent, room was clean and fresh and cleaned everyday. Some building work still going on but not insufferable. Spent 11 nights all inclusive and had different food every night which was fresh, hot and tasty. Only thing hotel lacked was entertainment as it was just gearing up for the season so only had something on for 3 nights. But don't worry as across the street you have the Rainbow bar which is friendly (Sagis is the owner). Give him an old football shirt and you are friends for life. If you want the usual gift shops and bars these are only 5 mins walk along beach to the left, again friendly. Do not go to this hotel if you don't like the sound of aircraft as it is right on the main flightpath. But not to noisy with new aircraft engine design making them fairly quiet (didn't bother me as I am an aircraft nut). Go for room with sea view its a must. Overall fantastic holiday, liked it so much going again in September."

My girlfriend & I stayed at the Electra ...
"My girlfriend & I stayed at the Electra Palace in Rhodes and it is a superb hotel. Everything about the hotel is good. It is on the beach the food is amazing and the Hotel staff are really nice and friendly. We stayed all inclusive and there aren't any restrictions, you can have as many drinks as you like where you can drink them on the beach or poolside or in one of the many bars. The rooms looked like they had been recently refurbished and were spotlessly clean and changed every day by the maids. Also at the hotel are two other restaurants called the Italian flair and the Chinese corner, you have to book these through the restaurant manager, and these are also very nice. We booked a transfer from the airport to pick us up but there isn't much point as the airport is only 5 mins in a cab. A taxi into Rhodes old town is 10 Euros which is well worth a visit as it has some good shops and a nice atmosphere. The only downside if any is that the hotel is not really in walking distance of other bars restaurants etc, but as the taxi's are so cheap it doesn't matter that much. Really recommend this hotel can't believe people have written bad reviews."
