Nice hotel but flies on food put us off.
"This is a clean hotel and the staff are hardworking. However, there is an emphasis on complaints management as opposed to resolution. This hotel have received many many complaints about flies on the food but are doing little to address this BIG problem. Personally, for us, eating food which has flies crawling all over it is a red line. We ate outside of the hotel every day. The management completely recognise that this is a major problem for lots of the more discerning guests, whilst agreeing with me that some of their clientele will simply eat anything if it's been pre paid and these guests are easy to recognise. Maria from guest relations was helpful but says that flies cannot really be deterred. We did explain that flies are not exclusive to Greece but most restaurants will have covers over food. I have never seen flies feasting on food in any other hotel and I am extensively travelled. Maria claims that lids on food is a non starter as some guests will not put them back on after serving themselves. I do not buy this argument as if you apply that principle to other things in life you'd give up before you started. Hotel room was clean and the housekeeping service was faultless. Room was nice, over looking the sea. Although this is an adults only hotel, I have yet to visit a noisier place. The bathroom is almost shared with your neighbour as the walls are wafer thin. I was repulsed to over hear the bowel habits next door and also him explaining the contents of the toilet pan to his wife. It made us want to do our private business elsewhere. You can hear everything and we were kept awake 2 evenings with someone being violently sick in their room. In terms of location, it's nice and the bus service is very good although we hired a car locally. The entertainment is not the best and even if you don't want to sit downstairs to listen, there are no rooms which are far enough away not to hear it very clearly. Not a big deal for us as to be honest we were coming back to the hotel just as it was finishing around midnight. Spoke with lots of people who were enjoying it, but equally we spoke with lots who were not and this was due to the flies on the food. Would I go back, no. "

Stayed with friends october 2011
"Me, my boyfriend and a few mates stayed at the oceanis beach and spa resort back in october 2011. the weather was really good, not too hot but still late twenties which was ecspecially good for this time of year. we found the staff went out of their way to make your trip enjoyable and took the time to get to know you properly. the hotel is situated right on the beach front, volleyball is played everyday on the beach and there are lots of watersports for you to try out. we went parasailing which was 75 euros for 2 people but was an amazing experience. we spent most days doing different watersports. food wise we were all inclusive and found that the food in the main restrauant got a bit samey at times but we only ate here for breakfast and dinner. there are other restaruants and bars situated around the complex which is included under all inclusive and gave a bit of variety. we didnt see much of our thomson rep however we knew where she was if we wanted some advice on places to visit. there are lots of nearby places to rent cars, quad bikes etc. we spent one whole day exploring kos in buggies which gave us a real insight into the beauty of the island. the pool isn't very warm but still was busy most days and was a good size. this hotel looks exactly like the photos and there is never too much noise as it is generally an older couples holiday although we went as a group of 19/20 year olds and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. evening entertainment was different everynight and went on til about 11/12 pm when the noise would stop but you could stay in the bar until about 1am when all inclusive would stop and the bar staff would leave for the night. had a really amazing holiday, lovely weather, lovely people. would definitely reccomend and would go back. Nice Hotel, Shame about the food....
"We booked this hotel only a few weeks before we intended to travel and upon arrival it did look the same as in the brochure which was good. This year it was advertised as an 'adults only' hotel so we went along with our 17 year daughter and 21 year old son for a weeks relaxation. The hotel was clean and spacious and almost like a 'boutique' hotel. Could not fault this part of it. As a family though we did feel out of place as it was all couples. We spoke to the rep on this point and she said that families did come to this hotel so not to worry about it. Apparently next year it is going to be advertised as a couples only resort. The hotel is in a very quiet location but there is a bus service right outside which runs regularly so you can easily get out and about. Kos Town is worth a visit (and there is a McDonalds there!) The pool area is very nice and has a view of the beach/sea. There are plenty of sun beds around the pool and on the beach so no early morning trips to make sure you can save one. The bedroom was nice with an extremely comfy bed, a fridge with a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival and a bottle of water provided every day. The bad side to the room is there is no door to the bathroom - the shower cubicle is see through (which for couples is ok but not families/friends) and the toilet door is also see through and does not go from floor to ceiling which I found totally unacceptable. The entertainment during the day is the usual water aerobics, water polo etc. The evening entertainment is hit and miss. With regards to the food, this is the only part of the hotel which would stop me coming back again - it was disgusting. It was all lukewarm and not English orientated at all. Me and my daughter hardly ate. Breakfast was the most edible part so would fill up on this and then get a ham toastie from the snack bar for dinner. I have never been to a hotel where the All Inclusive food has been this bad. Other guests complained about it apparently and it improved for one night and then slipped back. The mini market was poor and quite sparse. The staff were friendly enough. All in all, to sum up, very nice hotel and location, poor food and lovely not having young children around the pool and restaurant screaming and crying. Very relaxing hotel where we put no weight on,"

"I have never written a holiday review before but felt I had to defend the bad reviews this hotel has received so far since its reopening in May of this year. The hotel will be the first to admit they encountered teething problems to begin with but this hotel is striving to be the very best and this shows throughout, with the staff, management and the appearance of the hotel itself. Firstly, our check in was excellent, we were in our room within about twenty minutes, we were escorted there and also had our cases delivered to the room at the same time. First impressions were that this hotel is spotless and this never altered for the whole week we were there. The whole hotel is cleaned daily and the maid service was exactly the same, with balconies swept daily as well as the walkways to the rooms and Tea/coffee and complimentary water was well replenished every day. The meals were excellent, with many choices at breakfast, lunch and evening meal. It is buffet style for all meals and the food was cooked to a very good standard. The staff were very helpful and polite and you only had to ask for something and it was done immediately. Tables were quickly cleared and the management present ensured smooth running at all times to reduce any waiting time when it became busy. The hotel does provide entertainment both in the evening and the animation team provide activities during the day which you are able to take part in if you so wish. They do not pressure you to do any activity and they often walked round just having chats with holidaymakers which I found made you feel very welcome as my friend and I spoke to them on many occasions. The evening entertainment is improving all the time as the hotel introduce new acts and with the shows being in the open by the pool it creates a very relaxing atmosphere and the bar serving drinks are very quick so you are never waiting around. The entertainment also finishes at a reasonable hour so we found the hotel very quiet at night which was great for sleeping. You never got the noise or slamming of doors and we couldn't even hear the people in the rooms next door. The air conditioning is great which you need at night, it isn't noisy and it has several settings so you can adjust it to what is best for yourselves. The rooms are very nicely furnished and the flashing lights in the shower are great, pipe music into it and you can have yourself a little disco in there! The rooms are open plan but the door on the toilet is frosted and part of the shower door is too. The bathroom part to the room is sectioned off so there is no need for anybody to worry about being embarrassed. I shared a room with my best friend and we didn't find this opening planning a problem at all and we still had our privacy. The location of the hotel is fantastic with stunning views across to Turkey and on a bus route into Kos Town which only takes about ten minutes. Buses run until midnight so you can enjoy some evenings in the town without worrying about getting back to the hotel. The spa isn't complete at the hotel yet but they are offering spa treatments at the hotel next door and my friend and I went for this one afternoon and it was worth it because we had a full body spa pool jet massage. This more than made up for the facilities not being available at the hotel and the customer relations manager, a very nice lady called Miss Maria, arranges this for you because the hotel are trying to make ammends so that your holiday is not impacted on in any way. We also celebrated my friends birthday on our last night and Miss Maria had arranged for a birthday cake for her and we had a wonderful evening in the a la carte restaurant where Miss Maria even popped in to say hello and wish my friend a happy birthday which we thought was a very nice gesture. Overall, this hotel is striving to be the very best, the hotel is fantastic, the staff are excellent and want you to have the best holiday ever, nothing is too much trouble and you only have to ask and Miss Maria is there for you to ensure that your holiday experience is everything you want it to be. I thank each and every one of the members of staff who work at the Oceanis, from the office staff, cleaners, bar staff, entertainment staff, restaurant staff, Miss Maria and anybody else who helps to make this hotel one of the best my friend and I have ever stayed in. We have already talked about returning next year so for anybody reading this review before you choose this hotel for your holiday, rest assured, you will choose well and have the best time."

We have just returned from our week at t...
"We have just returned from our week at this hotel. We were a family of four, we had two rooms as our boys are age 18 and 19. Both rooms were large and spacious and had a fridge in the room. Each room had a balcony, our room caught the evening sun which was a bonus. The boys room got no sun at any time of the day, this suited them. The rooms were well used, one wall had a fabric back drop, this we discovered covered a multitude of holes, switches etc both rooms had this. Do not let this put you off. The rooms were very clean and the cleaners did a very good job keeping them that way (even with a room that two teenage boys shared). The hotel was spotless, cleaners were on the go from morning until night. The hotel is big and has a lot of room to move around, all public area are spacious, and plenty of room for all. The pools were great and never packed, plenty room for everyone and no nonsense regards the laying down of towels. This was helped by the fact that you could very easily move from the pool area onto the beach. The beach was shingle but again very clean and room for all. We stayed bed and breakfast and found the buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, staff pleasant and efficient. The bus to Kos town is right outside the entrance to the hotel (buy your ticket at reception as it is cheaper), the bus drivers like to pack people in. In the car park of the hotel you can hire push bikes, beach buggies, or quads and mopeds. The boys hired a quad and a buggy, they had a great time touring the Island but agree that one days rental was enough to let them see the whole Island. We hired the push bikes and the mopeds. We enjoyed both. Insist that you try on your helmet before you leave. It has recently become an offence if you do not wear a helmet and you can be fined 350 euro. We were well on our way to the other side of the Island on our mopeds when my helmet started to blow off and it spoiled our trip a bit just because we had the wrong size of helmet on. We also took the boat from Kos town to Bodrum in Turkey. It was only a 45 min trip over and we had a great time. When buying the tickets for this trip negotiate the price. Do not go on a Tuesday or Friday as this is the days the markets take place and it is very busy. The hotel has tennis courts, crazy golf, and a sauna and it was all free. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we felt it was worthy of it's four stars."

"Just spent a week in the Oceanis Beach Resort at Psalidi (first week in July). The hotel was excellent, and quite reasonably priced, especially considering it was a top hotel. The hotel itself has 1 fresh water and 3 salt water pools, plus its own beach area. The beach is more shingle/pebble than sand and shoes are a good idea, although we coped quite well without. However we bought some beach shoes for our daughter who found them much easier for running in and out of the water. The staff were wonderfully friendly, especially with our daughter, and we got to know several of them. The Mini Club was great for children, with things to do in the day and half an hour of dancing in the evening. Although it was possible to hear the later evening entertainment from our room, it wasn't so bad as to be a problem, and only lasted from 9.30-11pm. There was a night club, but we never heard it! Psalidi is to the east of Kos Town, and generally had a brisk breeze blowing at all times. This was probably the worst part and can make it feel a little cold when you get out of the water. Food was generally good to excellent. Breakfast was a massive buffet and we found that we gorged on that and missed lunch :-) The Pool Bar and Creperie were also great, although we were not so keen on the Pool Restaurant - food came very fast, but was obviously pre-cooked. If you're in one of the Psalidi hotels, it's worth walking out onto the main road and crossing to the nearby tavernas. Try the one between the Budget rent-a-car office and the Go-Karts - and say Princess Anastasia sent you! (That's what they called our daughter). Superb and extremely friendly service, excellent food and good recommendations. The hotel has all the usual contacts for car hire and tours. We did 2 tours with Tigkaki Tours, which were great. The 3 island tour is lovely (although the boat feels a bit crowded!) and you get a nice vist to nearby islands, time to swim and a BBQ... (kebab and salad, don't expect a massive BQ as it's cooked on board the boat for a lot of people!!) But the swimming in the deeper water while they cooked was very welcome, and the subsequent visit to a shallow sandy beach is a great finish. The second tour was to Nyssaros, where you get to walk into the volcano!! Be warned, between the volcano and the sun, plus being below the level of the breeze, it';s a VERY hot walk down, and you need to take some reasonable shoes. They say 'rugged', but any are ok. It's really just that you walk down a rocky/gravelly slope so not really suitable for flip-flops!!"

The Oceanis was paradise
"We stayed for a week in May at the Oceanis. It really was paradise. From The wonderful pools to the cleanliness of everything to the friendliness of everyone working there. The atmosphere was so charming. The entertainment director and his helper were so good at making everyone feel welcome and were great at getting people to know each other with the many things to do such as mini golf, darts, evening entertainment etc. The resort is far enough away from town to be quiet but close enough to hop a bus or taxi and get to town within l5 minutes. This resort has the warmth of "old wood" and beautiful furniture but is up to date with internet. The breakfast buffet is great either eating it in the dining room or out doors on the patio watching the ships go by. I would recommend the Oceanis to anyone going to Kos."

Excellent service and great location
"We stayed at the begining of May. The Hotel had just re-opened for the season. We had read a range of reveiws about the hotel some good some not so good. but.... We could not fault the hotel in any way. the rooms were clean and fresh, the food was excellent, and the service was the best, very personal, made you feel like you were the only one staying there. If we ever go back to Kos, that is where we will be staying. There was a good mix of nationalities staying, mainly german, some dutch, and i think only one other english couple. Which was nice. If you are looking for English beer, fish and chips, go else where, but if you want to relax, enjoy good local food, wine, beer and service, at very good prices, then this Hotel is for you."

Want to come back...Marina i Sasa-Croatia
"We went to this hotel on our honeymoon, and we were very satisfied. It has beautiful pools, beach, and the staff is very friendly. Hotel and its surounding look amazing, and it has a great position (5 minutes by bus to Kos town - 1â¬). One thing that we can complain on are the old rooms which have not been renovated for a long time so they are a bit smelly and unpleasent. Howewer,we got used to it and we lowed every day of our staying in Oceanis hotel."

A great hotel
"Stayed at the hotel Oceanis for 2 weeks in August. Staff very friendly, hotel very nice. Rooms were well kept and cleaned daily. Swimming Pools and restaurants really nice. Would recommend to families and couples alike. Would definately return again. Don't forget to try out Surf bar facing the sea and Big Blue Surf Club."

"Stayed 4 nights at this hotel resort. Approx 10 miunutes by bus to Kos town, bus stop is at front of the hotel. Hotel has spacious lounge and entertainment areas, good size pools and lovely lawned area leading to the beach. There were plenty of sun lounges and service was generally good. Rooms vary in size, doubles are average size so try for a family room a lot larger and worth the enquiry. No air condtioning before the 15th June so rooms can get hot, even the air con fan system would not work, but we managed to get a stand alone fan which cooled the room down. All in all we found the hotel ok and would return but would make sure we got a good sized room overlooking the sea and fan supplied if no air con. Hotel is rated 4 star but we would give it a good 3 star rating as no air con and size of double rooms. 7.5 out of 10."

"The hotel is placed 5 km from the Kos town, which is easy accesible by a bus operating until midnight. The hotel is placed 50 meters from a street which is sometimes a bit noisy. + sides: The beach is calm and clean, and the two outdoor swimming pools as well, there are always free sunbeds etc (actually, I was there out of season, I do not know how is it during the july/avgust). The hall is nice, and the restaurant as well. The breakfast was OK (I had no other meals). The flowers are everywhere, the palm trees etc - sides: The room is awful, but for somebody who spends his day outdoor, it is not a problem. I would come there again! Mika, Lausanne"
