"We have been going back to Kamari Bay for the last 10 years. We now go 3 times a year. We have never once been and not met fellow returnies, some have been going since hotel opened. We have never been met with any rudeness or any of the above ! We even got married out there and all the staff were so helpful. Some people should read the brouchure and stick to the all inclusive prison camps where you don't have to think, can't experience greek life but you can get fish and chips !! People need to realise not everywhere will please everyone but its not many places that get refered to has paradise !"

"We didn't read any reviews before we went to Kefalos and the Kamari Bay Hotel, so were totally in the dark. What a lovely place! Clean, and welcoming; yes it's basic, but you only sleep in the room, thats what it's there for. We did have a giggle at breakfast, but to be fair it was filling. The staff were the friendliest people we have ever met on our holidays and the owner was a lovely little chappy, always a bright smile and a cheery word. The snack bar was lovely and quite cheap to eat and drink. The star of the show has to be Tony the barman. A lovely individual with an amazing sense of humour, who mixes cocktails like no other. Across the road is a car hire place, Stella and her husband are lovely people, and can sort anything out you want to explore the island, including maps, the best places to park and directions. All the taverna's around give excellent value for money and are delightful places to go eat and relax after a hard day sunbathing! We were treated like long lost friends, even though it's our first ever visit there and we would certainly go back again. "

Lovely resort noisy hotel

"My husband & I stayed at the Kamari Bay Hotel in May, the hotel was not even half full, but will still couldn't get much sleep, every night people in the bar would keep us awake, laughing & talking and as the door at the top of the stairs was always left open the noise travelled around the hotel. Then when the drunken, high spirted quests made their way back to ther rooms at 2.00 am there would be slamming doors and clip clopping shoes! We are not party poopers and we like to enjoy ourselves but people do need to realise that not everyone wants to drink & chat till the early hours of the morning! The breakfasts were a joke! We only went down for the glass of orange & the 1 cup of coffee! Our toilet wouldn't flush properly and had a faulty cysten, which we told the owner about, but I bet it's still the same. If you do need the loo tho while down in the beach area DON'T use the toilet at the BRAVO Bar without buying a drink, I got caught short and nipped in only to be stopped on my way out by the owner who was very frightening and intimidating shouting at me because I had used his loo roll and not used his bar!! No wonder his bar was always empty! ARGOS was a brilliant place to eat, we tried several places but ended going back several times, the staff were lovely and Maria was very friendly. All in all we enjoyed our holiday & would definately go back to Kefalos but bot the Kamari Bay Hotel."

"We stayed at the Kamari Bay in July 2010 very clean hotel and everyone seemed friendly, until we asked if we could have breakfast early the next morning due to going on a trip.We were not expecting what came, the owner was so rude and refused straight away and told us the time of breakfast would not be changed. After that we went to the beach every day and spent no more money in the hotel.Couldn't sleep at night because the fire door was pegged open at the top of the stairs and the noise from the bar was very loud.Go to Kefalos in Kos it is a lovely relaxing place but dont stay at the Kamari Bay Hotel"

"i stayed in kamari bay in july of 2010 and im sorry some people find the owner and barman very rude,we had a lovely time my partner and i.i think what some people dont appreciate is that kefalos is a very quiet place so as you can tell thay dont get a lot of holidays makers because if thay did it wouldnt be the lovely quiet peaceful place it is,so thay all need the extra money which we can all really afford,so thay like you to buy drinks in there hotel and the air conditioning this is how they make there money the hotel owners get paid pittance from the holiday companies so need to make extras. so come on holiday makers put your hand in your pockets then you might be a bit more appreciated in the future."

"On arrival the manager seemed quite polite and willing to please, even more interested when i explained that i used to work in Kefalos and that i was bringing my partner there to share with him some of the beautys of the island. The following day we spent the entire day by the pool. buying drinks, eating and relaxing. My partner fell asleep(not unusual on holiday) I was getting our things together late afternoon and the manager came over and asked us to leave the pool area as it was getting late, thats fine although i felt a little rushed at the time. That evening we went to Zia for dinner and came back to the hotel for a nightcap, the bar area had about 6 people in it. We chatted with another couple who were interested to know of other places to visit on the island,we asked for another drink and the bar man refused much to my amazement! He went on to say that we hadn't drunk there all evening and was obviously very put out that he had to stay later than he wanted to. He then went on to verbally abuse my partner shouting. My partner is not a confrontational man thankfully and insisted that we went back to our room as the barman was in his face.As you can imagine i was furious so much in fact that i contacted our tour operator and asked to be moved, i was so uncomfortable and as we had to walk through the bar to get to our room i was dreading the next day.Our rep did move us to a lovely hotel. Having spoken to the manager the barman(his nephew) had said we were insisting that we had music on and that i was trying to encourage people to go to other places. My thoughts are that we hadnt spent enough money in his bar, our holiday and we can chose to go where we want.He was rude, aggresive and i was almost ashamed of him having lived and worked in Kefalos. Please don't be put off because its a lovely place but my advice is not to stay here. The way we were treated was disgraceful and needless to say it left a bitter taste in my mouth, not the experience i wanted for my partner. "

"Kamari Bay hotel was awful, the owner was fine until you had a complaint then you saw a different side to him.The door to my room wouldn`t shut with out slamming it and when i asked him if he could look at it as i was worried about disturbing other guests, he went crazy, shouting at me and accusing me of breaking the catch on the door because i was slamming it too much!. The breakfast consisted of toast, jam and coffee..every single day, after a week of it my children refused to come down to breakfast and who could blame them. The hotel was advertised as suitable for familes, which is a joke apart from the swimming pool, there was not one little thing in the hotel that would suggest that children were welcome there. The hotel actually reminded me of Fawlty towers as i think it hadn`t been decorated since the 80`s and the owner could be Basil fawlty`s double. I`m sorry to say i really cannot recommend this hotel to anyone although i like Kos itself, it was a shame it was almost ruined by a crazy Greek man and his run down hotel!"

"Just arrived home from Kefalos and stayed in the Kamari Bay Hotel. Must say this is a really lovely place to stay and the hotel is great, spotless and the owner and staff could not be friendlier. Having read some of the reviews, had to write as some people may be put off with the comments about the owner Yanis. We found him very friendly and was always on hand to anwser any questions we had. Tony the barman was superb and made our stay that much better. Yes, the shower was cold the first night, but after telling the staff, this was put right. Kefalos is a lovely place, would recommend it to anyone. Captain John's was really lovely as right on the beach and the staff were extremely friendly. Would also recommend Maria's restuarant as the food is excellent and good portions. All in all would definately go back there and would have loved to stay longer given the chance. "

"What a great Hotel, had a relly good time, my wife and i found the owner only to pleased to help. The rooms are basic but very clean and tidy. The breakfast was a basic continental but we also had cake and toast on different occasions. The barman named Tony was a very funny man and also went out of his way to make sure that everything was o.k. for us. The swimming pool was also very clean and well presented. The poolside bar/cafe was also very clean and the lady Maria did somevery nice Hamburgers and omelettes. The Hotel was very close to the shops and resteraunts and the beach only a couple of minutes away. We visited several resteraunts and found that Gallini was about the best, enjoying the kleftico very much. We did a lot of trips also like the Greek night, visit to Turkey which was very hot. All together my wife and i had a very enjoyable time and will visit again and make sure that we can stay at the Kamari bay hotel."

"Very poor hotel, not good for families as manager/owner didn't like any noise or music so was unfriendly to children. Disappointed by behaviour of manager, who was unfriendly, shouting at guests and only seemed to be concerned with the money they brought in rather than guest comfort or customer service. Spoilt our holiday as the experience of walking into arguments and shouting matches in reception was very uncomfortable and stressful. Insisted on all guests keeping on their room for the last day and wouldn't allow any sharing. Charged 4% interest for changing money!! Would not recommend."
