10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"my wife and i stayed here for ten nights 13/5 and found this hotel excellent, the cleaners were never in your face in the mornings and the the rooms and areas were kept very clean, the beach and sea is very good with a beach bar close at hand,in fact hardly any walking was required to any of the 3 bars and pool and resturants, For all inclusive the food and drinks were very good, the entertainment was held in an open air theater, and was pretty much take it or leave it,must mention one of the animators CHICO, this guy was brill,if anything go here to see him, he really was good. We travelled with FIRST CHOICE and there rep DANI at the hotel was brill, and the return flights at the airport werewell organised in such a small airport. Forgot to say very few english in hotel but loads of german speakers ,so yes this must be a good hotel, and no problem getting sunbed."

We can not wait to go back!
"My wife and I stayed in this hotel for just one week earlier this year and was comletely satisfied.
The room was cleaned actually as we arrived, and it was lovely with a sea view, a balcony and had air conditioning and a fridge.
The resort was fantastic, situated a couple of kilometers away from Kardamena, right on the beach. So you have the calmness and quiet, away from the main town.
However if you want the bars then the hotel offer a free bus transfer to the town about 7-8 times a day, so you can go out if you wish!
The food in the resort was great, not amazing but considering its all inclusive the selection was definately better than I thought it was going to be.
My only criticism is the 'italian' and fish restaurants. These so called themed restaurants where you reserve a table with your room number, these were disappointing buffet style eating areas with poor choice and to be honest you might as well not bother and just stick to the main restaurant.
Or, as we did a couple of times, left the resort and visited 'Avli's Restaurant' in Kardemena town. The food and service there was fantasic!
My only other slight criticism is the selection of drinks available at the bars, again its not a big problem as these were all inclusive but, apart from draught lager you had a small list of eight cocktails, two of which were alcohol free, so after a few days you get bored of drinking the same thing.
A special thank you goes to Riley and the enertainment team at the resort who made us both very welcome, even though we still have the hotel song and dance routine in our heads as I write this!
We would definately return to Kardamena for another holiday, as the place was lovely, the sea was beautiful blue and clear, the weather was fantastic and hot, even at the start of may.
If we do return to Kardamena we would definately return to Porto Bello Beach, or maybe try Porto Bello Royal, which is next door! lol
We would only go for a week again, as I guess a fortnight holiday here could start to get a bit boring after a while, espescially for children."

Great all-inclusive hotel for a holiday
"I stayed at this hotel with my Mum for a fortnight and had a really great time. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel had everything we wanted. The sea view was lovely and the food tasty too. We are planning to go back there next year! The swimming pool is large and so doesn't get crowded - but note that it is salt water and not chlorinated. The beach is next to the hotel and is gorgeous. Because of the location of the hotel, there was some aircraft noise (planes coming into land) but this did not put a downer on the holiday experience."

the best ever
"well the best holiday ever, when my wife and i arrived we where given a maisonette 750 with lovely views all around,on my wifes birthday we had a champagne breakfeast and the hotel gave her a card and birthday cake.which was very nice, the staff and management at this hotel are the best i have seen for a long time.cannot say a bad thing, but for the entertainment team not good at all,you will mostly see them at the inter net room, when you need to use it.food, drink, beach, barsand water sports all great.George at the lobby bar very very good at his job,all staff made you welcome.i would go back.missing it already."

Best holiday we've ever had
"We booked a week all inclusive at the Porto Bello Royal and couldn't quite believe our luck. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful, the food is fanstastic and the all inclusive was exactly that. We had a room overlooking one of the pools which although wasn't officially a sea view room, still had a pretty good view of the sea.
We are usually people that like to get out and about and see as much as possible but at the Porto Bello, we didn't really want to leave and when we did go out for the day we couldn't wait to get back.
We swam in a different pool each day and still only tried half of them. There were a few international relation issues with the Germans (the hotel is full of them). We tried all the restaurants available at least once and can honestly say we had really nice meals in all of them, the oriental one being our favourite.
Our only worry now being booking another holiday that lives up to this one!"

"we stayed at the atlantica club porto bello beach this august,we were all inclusive, first choice brochure stated there was 5 restaurants,in fact there are 4 as the asian restaurant has been closed since 2007,you have a main buffet style restaurant, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a few theme nights(italian on sunday, gala buffet on a friday)there was plenty of choice, hot and cold, wine and beer on tap(help yourself)also coke/fanta on tap,at breakfast they bring round a pot of coffee for you(sometimes after you had finished eating!!)the other 3 restaurants are by reservation only 24hrs before bookable at the reception, the fish restaurant is lunch time only and gets fully booked in 15mins(very popular with the italians)so be ready to book by 9am,there is also the greek taverna(lunch/dinner)just a smaller version of the buffet upstairs, and an italian restaurant,we ate there a few times,we had a birthday in our party and the hotel was very helpful with the bottle of fizz and birthday cake.there are no lifts in the hotel as accomodation is only 2 floors, but very helpful chap in a golf buggy who takes your suitcases to and from your room, one very large swimming pool(salt water)with jacuzzi(12 till 5)and pool bar, there is also a small kids pool near the fish restaurant, although plenty of sun loungers and sun brollys, you still have to put your towels on them,it also gets a little breezy(very nice in the heat)but watch the sun brollies!the beach is just 2 mins away, careful of the road, there are barriers but some people still drive a little fast, there is a beach bar, which also has the snack food(hotdogs, watermelon, cakes, ice cream)pedaloes and canoes are free (although you have to book)the jet skis, para gliding etc there is a charge.Although the hotel has plenty to keep you occupied that is the only place around (hotel porto bello royal next door)the town of kardemena is a 45 min walk away(not advisable in the dark)or the hotel runs a free bus(bit infrequent)or the public bus about 1 euro 60,or 8 euros for a taxi,it is worth a visit for prezzies,or a visit to bar street(it is just that). The entertainment at the hotel is in an ampi theatre just across the road from the hotel,it has no bar,so take your own drinks,we just sat at the terrace bar chatting, playing cards etc, they do a greek night around the pool once a week or a fire/water evening, there is a little shop on site ideal for water, papers etc,all in all great holiday maybe a little quiet, nice hotel, very helpful, friendly staff, lovely room, very clean with fridge, hair dryer, air con,the only down side was getting home kos airport a complete nightmare!queued outside for over an hour for check in,then queued again for passport control(1 man,300 passengers, you do the maths!!)nearly missed the plane home."

"My wife and I really needed a relaxing holiday, and boy did we find it!
Clean, calm, quiet (because it is so big with plenty of pools and its own beach you are never crowded)
Great Staff, not too in your face but polite and calm.
A good selection of food, plenty to do if you wanted to - a great indoor pool.
We had a room at the end of the complex facing the beach with the pool 4 yards from our door - fabulous!
Only a few people seemed to get het up about things (it was the same peole all week) because they would arrive as a group of 10 in the middle of lunch or dinner service and expect a reserved table! Why didnt they go earlier?
Transport and links were good, rooms very clean and tidy.
We have stayed at other supposed 5 star Tourist (Hesperia Lanzarote - Definitely NOT 5 star!) and this is what it is a 5 star Toursit Hotel - not a 5 star Ritz!
Only draw back - 110 euros to have a late room that will take you to midnight - our flight home was 4.a.m - otherwise you are out of your room at midday...
WE will be definitely coming again"

Incredibly relaxing, just what we were looking for.
"My husband and I just came back from a week at this hotel and it was exactly what we had been looking for. We wanted somewhere where we could do absolutely nothing all day except read, swim and relax in the sun and somewhere with good food. The room was lovely - we had a double sea view room with a balcony. It was all extremely clean, the bathroom was of a very good standard with hairdryer, bath, shower, toilet sink and pretty much wall to wall mirrors. The room itself was fairly simply decorated but had everything you needed and plenty of storage for two people. There was a fairly small tv with not many english channels - just discovery, a news channel, cartoon network in english. A few french and italian channels but maninly German. We were a bit disappointed that the curtains didn't block out all the light so when we arrived at 5am and wanted to go to sleep it was already light in the room but that was probably our only criticism - and the bed was a bit hard and whenever one person moved the other one was bounced around a bit! There is a spare single bed in the room as well that you can use as a sofa or extra bed.
The hotel itself was well set out and spotlessly clean - loads of different pools and sunbathing areas so you can choose where you wanted to be - and no problem getting a free sunbed even if you got up late like we did. Salt water in the pools isn't great if you want to swim underwater or splash around but if you just want to cool off in the pool it's fine. And there is a non-salty inddor pool if you want to do some serious swimming. The beach was OK but we're not really beachy people so we just stuck to the pool areas.
The food was good and fairly varied in the main buffet so you can eat as healthily or unhealthily as you wanted. The honeyballs (bit like little round doughnuts) were amazing for breakfast and there were fresh pancakes too as well as the usual cooked stuff, sweet stuff and fruit. Lunch and dinner in the main buffet always had loads of salads on offer, pasta and then different meats/fish and at least one cooked vegetarian option. The house wine is ok but nothing special - the white is better than the red. We were disappointed with the other restaurants as they basically offered just a smaller buffet selection. We went to the Italian a couple of times because it was in a nice location but didn't bother with the Asian as there is no choice to the menu and they don't put the menu up until the day itself and you have to reserve the day before so you have no idea what it will be. It didn't look that appetising either. We went to the greek buffet for lunch one day which was OK but we preferred having the bigger choice in the main buffet. The fish and greek restaurants weren't very busy for lunch but that might be because you had to book them the day before as well and I think most people just didn't bother. So, we ate really well and the food was of very good quality but it might get a bit repetitive if you go for more than a week. Still better than cooking for yourself though! The desserts were generally creamy concoctions of some sort although there were a few nice chocolately desserts sometimes. There is always ice cream available as well.
Staff in general could be quite rude and abrupt. When i normally read that on reviews I think it is because people have been rude to the staff but in actual fact they were quite sullen even if you were very friendly towards them. There were a few exceptions who were very friendly and even the most grumpy staff ended up giving us grudging smiles after a week of being pleasant and smiley to them.
We didn't make much use of all the hotel's facilities like sport. animation etc. but it seemed that quite a few poeple joined in the aqua aerobics and the water polo at least. We walked into Kardamena one day which toook about 40 minutes but then just got a taxi straight back to the hotel as it is just full of the worst kind of English-style bars and MacDonalds. We heard that the day trip to Kos Town was good but we didn't bother as we just wanted to do as little as possible.
The only thing that was seriously frustrating was the lack of availability of drinking water. You are supplied with two small bottles in your minibar on arrival but after that you either need to constantly go to the bar for glasses of water (they don't supply bottles) or buy your own. We thought that in a hot climate like this not supplying easily accessible water was really bad. If you were sunbathing around the bottom of the hotel it is a fair walk to the pool bar to come back with a glass of water, by which time you probably need another one already! That was our only serious fault to the hotel which was exactly what we had been hoping for and a really realxing, comfortable and high quality place to go on holiday."

I'll be back
"This was our first time in Kos. On arrival at 2am we took a taxi to the hotel, a bargin at 18euros, it only took 10 minutes. (Don't bother with coach transfers)
We had a larger than average room complete with a lounge area and huge area outside with tables and chairs. Plus a seaview.
The rooms were cleaned daily, and the whole hotel was spoitless.
The hotel is on the beach with plenty of sunbeds and unbrellas, on the beach or around the lovely pool. There are 3 bars, 1 in the hotel 1 by the pool and another on the beach. Plenty of staff at all time to attend to your needs.
There are 5 restaurants including Asian, Italian and Greek and plenty of choice.
The entertainment was not 4* by any means, but we don't go on holiday for the entertainment so we just didn't go to it.
The hotel runs a bus to and from Kardemena several times a day, which is great as it takes about 45mins to walk along the beach to the town.
Overall a great holiday, just 1 thing to be aware of. The hotel for some reason does not seem to get many british visitors, we did not speak to another Brit all week. At one point we thought we were in Germany, although many of the holidaymakers were actually Swiss.
Go into Kardemena and find Harrietts tours, they do a great day out to Bodrum only an hour away.
If you don't mind being in the minority (we didn't) then give the hotel a try, you won't be dissapointed."

"We stayed at the All Inclusive Porto Bello Beach Hotel from the 6th of June for a week, having not acquired many reviews for this hotel we were not quite sure what to expect, but soon after being shown our accommodation & sampling our first drinks we soon realised the choise of hotel was a good one & lived up to it's 4* rating.
Our trip from the Airport to the hotel took approximatley 15 minutes & cost 20 Euros each way, we also travelled with our Freinds so a shared taxi costing 10 Euros per couple which was a good start considering the Travel Agent was asking for £20 per person each.
The rooms we were allocated were of good size & consisted of a Queen size bed & a single bed free safe & fridge (not stocked). Bath with overhead shower, hairdrier, TV with 3 English speaking channels & a pool veiw.
On site there were 5 Restaurants, The Main Buffet Restauraunt, Chinese/Italian/Greek Tavern and Fish Restaurant (open afternoon only) of which had to be pre-booked a day in advance apart from the Main Buffet Restauraunt, all were of good standard & clean.
Having travelled with our good Freinds & knowing they like a good drink, we were not let down with the 3 watering holes on site, consisting of a Beach bar/Pool Bar/Main bar, all 3 bars did not close until 2am. The 4 of us did our country proud & kept the bar staff busy all week.
The hotel pool was as good as i have seen, with palm tree islands a swim up bar & waterfall, but with not many Brits in this hotel you need to be on the first watch to get your towels on the sunbeds which we never failed to do.
The staff all seemed freindly & we gave them the odd tip, which were always greeted with warm thanks.
We visited the Porto Bello Royal next door which looks a worthy 5* we possibly may try in the future.
Overall if you want a quiet Hotel worthy of a 4* rating goog food & drink & quality pool & surroundings then go to this hotel esspecially if you go with Freinds as we did.
The only negative point for the hotel is all of the entertainment is in a nightly outdoor theatre (no bar)"
