10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"This hotel was not as presented in the Olympic brochure. The room was very basic and ordinary and definitely not luxury, we expected much more as honeymooners. The restaurant and bars were very expensive - 2-3 times price of local tavernas, with no greek experience. So we dined out most of the time. The inclusive spa treatments were not what we expected. Each treatment was a maximum of 20 minutes, the point at which you start to relax. So just as you start to relax its all over. Having said all this the staff were very pleasant, welcoming and accomodating. The Welcome when you arrive was fantastic. Beware also of the steps, they are not clearly marked so you could end up hurt if not careful. Overall just not worth the money!! It doesn't merit a 4* rating."

The Staff is Amazing!
"We stayed at Notos for a week and I must say that I have never met more curteous staff. They are so attentive, charming and polite. I would only have to ask for my morning espresso the first morning. After that it arrived at my table within seconds of myself. The room we stayed in was very basic (especially the bed) but it was no major issue as we were there to relax and do as little as possible. However, the cleaning of the hotel is terrible. The maid arrived every day but we never realised what she actually did. For sure, cleaning was not on the list. Furthermore, the bathroom was extremely damp and smelled mouldy and unpleasant throughout the day. The daily spa treatments were also basic and although the staff were very friendly and accommodating, they didn't really know much about what they did. We would not go back to Notos purely because of the cleaning issue but if we could convince the staff to move to our next hotel, we would!"

Cute, small hotel - very pleasant athmosphere
"We did stay a the Notos for a week - and found it to be a very nice, pleasant place to be. Staff is very considerate & friendly, it is very clean and well maintained with a lot of charme. Pool is small - looks a lot larger on the pictures - but space is percious in Santorini. Do not go for the superior room upgrades - the regular rooms offer a small, cute private terrasse - which you will not find in the superior rooms. In fact superior will only offer only a very small terrace that you basically can only stand on. Spa treatments are included in the price - which is really nice. Treatments are rather short - 10-15 min. Spa staff is kind of harsh - but maybe that can be catagorised as greek, female charm ;-) All in all - very nice place to relax and chill out - off the main santorini tourist routes."

Loved the hotel from start to finish
"Cant believe what some of the reviews have said - you should read their visitors book. The staff were the best I have found in any hotel anywhere in the world. A very young team but when they say 'Your Welcome' they truly meant it they could not do enough for you from the chambermaid to the bar staff to the spa staff and the manager and head waiter were in a league of their own. Yes the rooms are not the same as in some big city but in those you could be anywhere alse in the world. We too had a room overlooking a taverna car park but we also had a stunning view of the sunset and the sea with a beautiful terrace where we could sit and have a drink and watch the sun go down. The food in the restaurant superb - the breakfasts lovely even champagne if you wanted it and the light meals around the pool also good and good value too, but also sample the loal fish restaurants great food, lovely people and good value for money. I almost cancelled my holiday when i read the reviews how pleased I was that I didnt, I would have missed a wonderful experience and no Im not easily pleased!"

Great public areas and adorable Staff
"Yes, it's true that the rooms are a disapointing. The one we got, had nothing special. White walls, no specific decoration. It was not looking like the rooms you see on their web page. Especially the bed was awfull. And the bathroom was really poor as well - no bathtub but a shower (with plastic shower curtain... :-( ). We were a bit disapointed on arrival because the airline lost our luggage and the hotel did not even have a toothbrush to give us !! We were told to buy one at the shop by the port. We found this a little bit rude, especially in this kind of hotel, they always have a "shaving kit and toothbrush kit" for you in these kind of situations (when not in every guest rooms). Appart from this, the hotel was fantastic. Public areas are great, the pool area is beautiful. The spa is great with decent prices. The restaurant was very nice as well. But the best of all was the restaurant/pool/bar staff. Everybody was extremely nice and helpfull. We were impressed ! We had a wonderful stay. Thanks to the great staff, we completely forgot about the first impression and we would certainly return !"

maybe not worth to be an SLH, but still guarantee for a wonderful holiday
"Can agree with some that it should not belong to SLH, indeed the bathroom is not at all luxury (no bath, very small), no CD-player in the room or music channel and the food is not of an SLH level either. However, as concerns the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, we were really impressed. Every day we were offered another massage in the spacenter of the hotel. The sauna, steambath, indoor small swimming pool is excellent if the weather is not so good. Be warned that there is not much to do in Vlychaia."

"Decided to treat ourselves for the last two nights of our Greek holiday and booked a "superior" room at this hotel - what a disappointment! On arrival, after our welcome glass of champagne (a nice touch) we were taken to our room - past the rooms overlooking the harbour, and across a bleak concrete yard to what looked like a row of holiday camp chalets. On first sight the room appeared large though fairly dingy - but closer inspection found it to be anything but luxurious : The bathroom was tiny and nothing more than a showeroom - the shower would have soaked anything left in the room - in fact the shower mat had to be placed outside the door, along with the loo rolls One of the towels was frayed and contained holes The groutng and paintwork were of a very poor standard. The "lounge" area consisted of a built-in sofa with a stained cover. Nothing else. The table and chairs in the bedroom were cheap and very basic. The balcony was the width of a chair placed sideways - not possible to sit in the chair and face outwards.. There was no table and the chairs were in a very poor state. The whole balcony area was dirty with the paint peeling off. The view was over a road, a taverna carpark and two large factory chimnies. We asked to be moved and were given a room overlooking the harbour - slightly better but still not particularly luxurious. Why we were given the original room was never explained. All in all, this hotel is trying to be somrthing it is not. The resort is also very depressing, but maybe that is beacuase we went in late September at the end of the season."

"This was a special holiday for the two of us our silver anniversary and the hotel made it even more so. Lovely room with a great view, extremely clean! The staff could not do enough for you although they were never in your face. The pool was the cleanest we have ever seen in 25 years of going abroad and the spa was to die for. Would go back in a minute. Thanks to Paul, Alex and George and all the rest of the staff for making our stay so special. Cant believe the last reviewer must be in a different world!!!!! we had 2 meals in the hotel restaurant and both were beautiful. Try the local tavernas though the seafood is excellent and all give an extremely friendly welcome. Vyclada is very quiet just what we wanted and this was explained in the brochure."

Shouldn't be a SLH
"This is an average Greek hotel - nothing special and in our opinion should not be a member of the Small Luxury Hotels group (we have been to many other SLHs). The rooms and pool are very small and the resort where the hotel is located is awful. The service and food was also not what we expected or were used to from our experience at other SLHs. Definitely not worth the money."
