Great place, great price!
"We visited Villa Ilias in early September and can't recommend it highly enough. It's in Firostefani, which is about a 15 minute walk around the caldera rim (or a more dangerous walk down the main road - Greek drivers - need I say more!) from Fira. It's actually more of an extension of Fira than a village in it's own right, and is just as pretty. The main street is cobbled, so a bit dodgy for those a bit unsteady on their feet but the views are fantastic, and the sunsets are better than in Fira. The hotel rooms were small but very clean and well maintained. The maid never seemed to stop working! Some of the rooms had caldera views, but some didn't -make sure you try and get one when booking, it's definately worth it. Also, I'd recommend a room with a balcony - some of the rooms lead out onto the pool and didn't seem to be very private. The breakfasts were basic (bread and jam)but you do get to eat it overlooking the caldera, so no-one was complaining too much! The staff were fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. Downsides - the wind! Aparantly August/September are the windiest times to go and it does get annoying after a while! The local rooster also wakes you up EARLY whether you like it or not. Just make sure you shut all doors and windows at night and you'll be ok for a lie-in. All in all, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in in Greece, and is extremely reasonably priced considering the amazing views. I'd definately go back!"

"This was our 2nd visit to Santorini and Villa Ilias. The views are to die for, the location perfect and the staff are so pleasant and very helpful. The first time we stayed there 3 years ago, we were in the Deluxe room upstairs and it was perfect, but this time we went for the standard room by the pool and that was our mistake. It is worth every cent to pay for the deluxe room as the only dissapointing part of our holiday was the very inadequate breakfast and the horrible bathroom in the standard rooms. We did not let this ruin our holiday though as everything else about this hotel is great. We met Americans, South Africans, New Zealanders and other Australians there and had a great time. Santorini is the most spectacular of all the Greek Islands and Villa Ilias is highly recommended."

Perfect place for the Perfect Place
"Lets just say this, actually I had nothing to say because the Villa Ilias was breath-taking. I'm sure this is partly to do with the beautiful scenery. George the owner was great and the hotel was incredible. NOt to pricey with a balcony and pool which was a requesite for many travelers in the Greek islands. Clean, comfortable, nicely priced and some of the best service I recieved in Europe. Stay there, pretty good location."

Great hotel just outside Fira
"This was a great hotel located in Firostefani, just a ten minute walk along the caldera to Fira - while the walk was up and down hills, it was such a beautiful walk any time of the day it goes by quickly. Also the hotel is easy to get to if you have a car compared to staying in Fira. The hotel is very close to a mini-market which was nice. Also near by is Vanilla, which was recommended by the hotel - this was one of the best restaurants we visisted during our stay in Greece - you might need reservations as it's quite popular with the locals. Alexis, who worked the front desk, was wonderful and very helpful and truly made our stay here more enjoyable. The room and bathroom are quite basic and simple, but were clean and comfortable. Most rooms have views of the caldera. Be prepared to have the local rooster waking you up in the morning . . . . The morning breakfast was nothing special but typical. While the rooms and hotel it self are only above average as many hotels in Santorini have views of the caldera, the service, close location outside of Fira, and value of this hotel makes this an excellent choice while visiting Santorini."

"Magnificent, wonderful, awesome, stunning views from Villa Ilias, especially the famous sunsets. Accomodation was basic and compact but cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedsheets. Staff friendly and always greeted us with a smile. We stayed in the top room (number 14) which offers extremely wonderful panoramic views of the whole island - although be warned it can get rather windy!!!!! but the views more than make up for that. A greek breakfast was served by the pool each morning and the mini market, bakery and gift shop are within 2 minutes walk. There are a few restaurants nearby, however we walked into Imerovigli and ate at the Skaros restaurant which we would recommend. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday location and the views of Santorini and the caldera which are seen on the web site are exactly as shown. The only downside, if we can call it one, is that the streets around Fira, Firastefani and Imerovigli can be quite steep, narrow and cobbled - this could make it difficult for anyone with walking problems - but do not let this put you off visiting."

Great sunsets at Villa Ilias!
"This hotel has the most lovely view in Santorini! It is located in Firostefani (next to Fira centre and close to many restaurants, shops, bus station...basically all you need for your stay). Also what we appreciated was being in a town surrounded by other little hotels on a hillside (like the postcards), instead of being in a big freestanding hotel on the side of the road far from town. We were initially comtemplating hotels without knowing their exact location. When we went to Santorini we got to see the other hotels we almost stayed at. We did not regret our choice. The sunsets are magnificent! They can be enjoyed from the pool deck and from many of the rooms of this hotel. We stayed in suite number 1 with private balcony. The price was reasonable as compared to other hotels nearby. The hotel is quiet and very clean. It is a family run enterprise. We met with George and Alexia. It is clear that they take pride in their work and always assisted us with a smile. The kitchenette is very useful. The bed was pretty comfortable. The bathroom was clean and fresh towels were provided daily."

Villa Ilias is great - we hope to return!
"For the â¬90 we paid a night this was an absolute bargain for the fantastic views and service (recommend you ask for room no 6) as it has direct steps to the pool but great balcony for watching the great view. We hope to return one day, George and the other two ladies were very helpful. Its a great location - step free access to hotel (although steps down to pool)."

"Villa Ilias was a wonderful place to stay - particularly if you ask for room no 6! We stayed for 4 nights last week - it was heaven on a stick! The room was small - need to fix the shower holder - BUT - the view from the balcony was worth a five star hotel rating - for 90 euro per night! We loved the mini market and liquor store within 10 (30??!) metres of our room. Best holiday we've ever had! Simple living with a decadent quality about it !"

Great sunsets from santorini
"George was very helpful and his hotel has great views of the caldera. Our unit was pool side, small but clean. It was a great value for the money. It is about a 10 minute walk into Thira. It is quiet but close enough to enjoy the nightlife. We met some vey nice people there as we sat around the pool or at breakfast. We would stay there again."

Deserves the rave reviews!
"George is an excellent host of this lovely hotel. He was very helpful with our reservation and also during our stay. Our room (studio with kitchen) was a good size for the three of us and it was kept very clean. Perhaps as important as the the convenient 10min walk to central Fira is the 1min walk a friendly and well-stocked mini-mart just down the lane. Breakfast was just a little 'uninteresting' (but maybe on a par with other similar hotels?) however, dining on the pool deck with THAT view....... We're happy to recommend this hotel and will probably return ourselves."
