"We stayed at the Fan Apts September 5/13th 2008.

We Found this family run buisness as everyone else appears to have, Very clean, Well maintained and staffed by very friendly people.

The apts are perfectly situated for the beach, shops, bars, restaraunts and local transport are all within a few hundred meters or a five min walk.

The pool is excellent, cleaned twice a day!

There is a cozy poolside bar that serves very nice food, i recommend the BIG breakfast at e5.50.

While on the subject of food.. the staff put on a greek BBQ for the guests one evening per week at the cost of e12 everything is homemade.. GO! dont ask why..just pay your money and GO!

Yannis will keep the pool bar open for as long as you like (you must try his special shots).

There is a pool table by the pool and also a Ping Pong table if you feel so inclined.

All in all, We had a terrific time at the Fan apts and we WILL be seeing everyone there again.. very soon i hope

(Yannis, if your reading this, we The Northwest Military Collectors WW2 Re-enactment Group wish you and your family all the very best for the future. "Epharisto for everything my friend")

"Just returned from a fantastic holiday in Stalis staying at the amazingly warm and friendly Fan Apartments. It was spotless and always a cleaner in sight. If you wanted fresh towels you only need ask. Nothing is too much for them. Wonderful Yiannis in the bar was fantastic and friendly even at 3.30am!!

The location of the apartments is superb, a very short walk from the nightlife, bars and restaurants. But far enough out of the way to avoid noise during the day. HOWEVER, be very careful of the placing of your room. Being alongside the main road can be extrememly noisy, esp when you don't have a choice but to keep your door open because of the heat.

Local restaurants were great. Some of the best were The Artemis, always a good meal here, The Cretan Corner, Kelariko restaurant- though beware of the gorgeous Albanien hunk greeting you as you pass!Single girls beware! He is very persuasive and persistent! You aren't the first and won't be the last!

I holidayed with my friend here in Crete and I felt very safe all of the time even in teh early hours of the morning returning home after a night out. I give the holiday, resort and apartments 10/10. I can't wait to return next year.

"Excellent Property, in an excellent location, very close to town/beach but just out of the way of the noise! Lovely pool, which now stays open till 7pm, excellent bar food and well friendly staff.

Stalis is lovely, beach fantastic, lovely waves in the sea. Loads of bars and restaurants to choose from, we loved 'ilios bar' sounds English, but is run by really friendly Greeks.

We had a brilliant holiday, and would recommend Stalis, and the iliosstudios to everybody.

"We stayed at the Fan Apartments and had a brillant time! The apartments are lovely, really clean and all the staff are really friendly esp Yannis the barman. There wasnt a day that went by when you didnt see a cleaner. The pool area was lovely, never a problem to get a sunbed, pool one depth but lots of steps into pool which was nice as people would sit and chat! Every week they do a BBQ, unfortunately we didnt get to do this as there wasnt enough people but we heard from other guests that had been the week before that it was brill and excellent food, think it costs around 12 euros each. We met alot of other couples that have been going to Fan for years so that just goes to show how nice it is!
Beach was lovely, costs 3 euros for 2 sunbeds, umbrella and table. If you walk along beach road pubs offer all different deals some even include lunch. All the resturants/pubs lead onto beach so when having a meal at night its lovely because you have got the view of beach/sea from your table. We ate at Maria's, Britannia inn and artemis- all very good. We also went to Creta and Rose and Crown but didnt really enjoy.

Would love to go back to fan apartments again if we get the chance. If you have booked this place then you will love it!!

"Spent the first week of June 08 in Stalis. Weather wonderful. Been to Stalis many times before but always stayed in Hersonissos. FAN APARTMENTS were clean, although on the small side, but we were lucky to get a large balcony, which made a big difference.
Gardens and pool area immaculate. The apartments would benefit from adding a toaster
to the kitchen area. Proper beds which were very comfortable. We didn,t eat at the poolside bar until the last day and the food was very good. Only a short walk to the beach where some of the beds were free and others fairly cheap. Went to different
eating places every night, never had a bad meal. The Italian near the small church was
excellent.
I would certainly recommend the Fan Apartments and would stay there again."

"We booked our holiday to Fan apts through Kosmar, and were not dissappointed with the apartments at all, my husband & I really enjoyed our week there, (although I cannot say the same about Kosmar we will not use them again) but will most definatley stay at the Fan apts again. Jannis & his mum are both lovely & really helpful. The room we stayed in was quite small - although i believe bigger family rooms are available- and quite basic as are most places in greece, but what more do you need? the apts are comfortable and clean, the pool area is really nice, quiet & relaxing, food from the pool bar is lovely, the location was fab as only a 1 minute walk down the road was the beach road with all the bars & restaurants. It really was a lovely place to stay and we would definatley stay there again. It was our first wedding anniversary while we were there & we had red & white roses left in our room with a card to say happy anniversary from the people at Fan - an unexpected but very lovely touch!
enjoyed stalis, was quiet as we went right at start of season but just how we wanted it to be, not all bars were open, we ended up in both Bar Bliss (dance/chart music) & Yo-Yo (indie music - not our thing but the guys/gals working there were fab) every night & could not walk past them without being dragged in (but we werent protesting!) Bar Bliss were a bit tight with the drinks & free shots, where as Yo-Yo wouldnt stop giving out the free shots & knew what we were drinking all time.
We like to eat local food where ever we go, so we tried all greek dishes in every restaurant we went to. The best Kleftiko we found was at 'Lambros' restaurant, the best lamb Giouvetsi was as 'Restaurant Creta' both are by the sea, if walking towards Malia the restaurants are on your left side not far from each other, and the best stuffed vineleaves were not in any restaurant, but were made by Jannis' grandmother & unfortunatley were not available for sale on their menu at the Fan's pool bar!!! - they would earn themselves a fortune if they could be bought!! another nice restaurant that we went to twice was called 'Minos' the guy who works on the front was nice and always recognised you when walking past, and claims to have the best 'low calorie cakes' in Stalis - not so sure about the low calorie but the greek apple pie was yummy!
all in all, we would go back to stalis, and would definatley stay at Fan apts again. "

"fantastic holiday cant fault it.room nice, pool georgeous, very clean.beaches and sea beautiful, night life perfect.if your a geordie a trip to see george at romantic corner is a must he worked n deanomeas restaurant when we were there but stil go as the food is excellant.push all the tavenas and restaurants are excellant,go to Minos for something a bit differant and a very warm welcome.hire a push bike and cycle into hersonisiss and malia, they are not a patch on stalis but its a nice ride.
the sea can be a bit freaky, calm one minute then a giant wave washes ya flip flops and beach bag away, good fun tho on a lilo. lotsa shops if ya a lover of shoppin, nice clothes shops, not too expensive. take a left turn at bottom of street from the fan, its more upmarket."

"Fan Apartments were clean and tidy and the maids came in 2/3 times a week.

The facilities were as described, pool, pool table, table tennis and bar which was open most nights until 2ish serving drinks and snacks, TV, music, and internet access. For us the facilities were fine as we only really need a place to sleep and nice pool to dip in if we were having a lazy day.

At the start of the holiday we had a few problems with rowdy neighbours partying all night and until after 5 in the morning the rep did have words but things only really quietened down when several guests voiced their opinions directly.

My father had been to Crete several times and took us to another place he stayed - Milos’s apartments just outside Malia (between Malia and Stalis). It is far enough away from Malia main street to be quiet but near enough should you wish to part take in the lively night life.

I must say that I found the accommodation here to be of a higher standard than Fan, although the pool was smaller.

Maria at Milos was also a fabulous hostess and let us use a spare room to freshen up in. Thanks Maria we plan to come back to Crete one day and we will definitely stay at Milos.

There was plenty to do in and around Stalis and we went on a few trips - Dia Island, Chrissi Island, and the Water City Aqua Park. All were great but I would say if you were to only do one boat trip do Chrissi Island, a true picture postcard.

Restaurants:
Made In Greece
What can I say this restaurant is perfection. We visited several times and every meal was fantastic in fact the best meals we have eaten out in years. We recommended to several other guests too who also thought the same. Fantastic hosts in Mikalais and George. The Greek Gods would indeed be proud to sit at your table, many thanks for wonderful times shared.

Pegasus:
We ate here most mornings for breakfast. Good food, service, and friendly people.

El Greco:
Ate here a couple of times and the food was always good. Georgio was the perfect host and also helped with recommendations when our son was ill and needed medical help.

Knossos:
Again ate here a couple of times. Great food and good service.

Mythos:
Good service great food.

Can’t remember the name... 'By the Sea'
A nice location but slow service and food not that great.

Britannia Inn/Pub:
Diabolical food and service. We relented from the Greek food once to have Sunday lunch here, the food was cold, tasteless and meat fatty and chewy - steer clear.

Robin Hood:
Good if you want home from home. Hot English food."

"Just got back from a wonderful holiday, Fan Apartments are great, very clean but basic as usual for Greece. The only negative comment is they were a little on the small side.

Location is great, 2 mins from the beach and nightlife. Most of the apartments overlook the pool area. The pool has no shallow end which is a pity, so everyone congregates around the steps in the pool for a chat. Everyone is very friendly at the apartments and Costa, the barman was lovely, very helpful and speaks excellent English.

There are some great restaurants in Stalis and the food is excellent if you like going Greek. Beware, don't go into Malia if you are over 25 - 30 yrs. Its full of quad bikes and loud bars!!"

"Just returned from Fan Apartment’s – had a brilliant time. Clean apartments but basic. Lovely staff - Kostas who runs the pool bar is great and his sweet dog Lucy. One word of warning, stay away from any room ending in the number 9, they are tiny and don’t get much light; all other rooms are fine.

Looking forward to next year !
