Kastro Beach Apartments

Family-run, friendly apartments, great location and facilities. Brilliant!
"We spent a week here and it was great! We had 2 studio apartments, each for 3 people, which were spotless and newly refurbished. The apartments had all the facilities you need for a holiday - plenty of space, a small kitchen area (although we ate out every night) with dining table, and a modern bathroom. The shower was great, consistent temperature and and decent water pressure.
Beyond the apartments, there's a great pool area (plenty of space both in and around the pool) and of course Charlie's Bar! The bar is brilliant for both food and drinks. We only ate in the bar one night but it was delicious and so cheap! We also had a BBQ organised by the family who own and run the apartments another night, which was great. The bar is also great for drinks before heading out, with great deals (most nights we had 2 cocktails and a shot for â¬6, not to mention some free drinks thrown in), tunes, and drinking games to get you in the mood for partying. Nikos and Jade in the bar are absolute legends, very friendly and up for a laugh! In the bar there's plenty of seating, a pool table and a couple of computers if you want to get online (50c per 15 minutes). There's also free WiFi.
The apartments are in a brilliant location. It's literally about a 2 minute walk to the beach and there are loads of other bars and restaurants close by. The apartments are at the bottom of the strip so it's not too loud if you're wanting to sleep but it's only a few minutes' walk to the main, busy part of the strip with all the clubs etc. There's a supermarket right next door, with an ATM machine too.
Overall, a fantastic holiday at great apartments. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would LOVE to go back!"

All you could ask for, and more!
"Just returned from a week at the Kastro apartments and I could not of had a better time! If you're looking for a place to stay that has a great location, brilliant atmosphere and unbelievably friendly staff than this is the place for you.
If, like me, you are on a holiday with your friends, than there is no better place to go. The Kastro apartments are located right at the bottom of the strip, attached to Charlie's Bar. Nikos will always make sure your night gets off to the best possible start with a few special cocktails in Charlie's, then you are perfectly situated to start your night off up the strip!
The rooms themselves are basic, but it's all you need to have a great holiday, they are cleaned once every other day, with fresh sheets and clean towels being provided.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to people looking to enjoy the Malia night life, enjoy the beach and pool, and generally let their hair down whilst they're on their hols! "

"The hotel is basic, but having been on many lads holidays, that is what you come to expect; anyone writing a bad review is probably unrealistic in their expectations for what you pay for.
The rooms whilst small, are cleaned regularly and have air conditioning available for an additional 50 euros, which is well worth it. To be honest, you don't spend a great deal of time in the room anyway, as you are likely to be down by the pool or out and about.
The pool is a reasonable size and has a pool bar serving drinks and snacks, again all reasonably priced, although if you want something more substantial, the main bar (Charlies) offers a range of food, all at very reasonable prices. The best thing on the menu was the chicken gyros, which was a steal for 3.50 and was ideal for lunch.
The hotel is located at the top of the strip and is ideal to start off the night from. We tended to have a few drinks in our room for predrinks before moving down to Charlies for some more, where there is always great entertainment and drinks offers on every night. After that you walk down the strip visiting different bars as you go.
It is the staff that make Kastro Primavera so good. Nikos will always do his best to make the holiday your best ever"

Kastro Apartments 2011
"I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Malia and i stayed at Kastro Apartments. I have looked at the reviews on here and quite astonished at what i have read. Kastro is a seperate hotel to Primavera so unsure why this is kastro primavera hotel :/.. anyway here is my experience of staying at Kastro.
We arrived at 3.30am and to our surprise was met by Nikos (who is a legend by the way) and he took us to our room, which was lovely, ground floor and right by the pool. 3 of us in there and it was more than what we expected. the shower was always hot and very nicely decorated throughout.
the food there was above average and superbly priced which led us to have our Charlies Breakfast (as we called it) every day and on an evening we often had some form of snack like a greek gyros or souvlaki "

"Me and 2 other friends stayed in these apartements, the location could definately not be any better! Literally just at the end of the strip so its cushty, right next to a supermarket to buy all those essentials, just next to the beach too. Also around 100m away from the Red Lion which is lush I highly recommend! The kastro bar is good too, on arrival got loads of cushty free drinks, all the staff are so friendly too! Met some proper cushty people aswell had the best week of my life and really want to go back! The cleaner, who we liked to call consuala came around 5/7 days so that was good, the room was lush, you have to pay for aircon but its not really needed! Dont get on the wrong side of the security guard hes a bit weird and radjy, they arent too fussed on making noise until around 1 when they ask you to go to the bar, but thats usually when you would go out anyway. Highly reccommend these apartements!! "

"I just got back from a week at Kastro. I had my doubts after reading the bad reviews before leaving, but I quickly realised they aren't true the moment I arrived. People need to understand that, for the cheap price you pay, its not going to be a luxury hotel. The rooms are basic and the bathroom is a little small but usable.
It does get a little annoying that the hot water runs out at about 8 in the evening, but most hotels use solar power anyway, so theres nothing you can do about that.
The price for food and drink went up a lot this year due to tax rises, but didn't stop them from giving us loads of free drinks. The staff were VERY VERY friendly and helpful, and the food was very good.
It is perfectly located at the end of the strip, so that clubs are close enough to carry your mates home when they pass out, and far enough that you don't hear all the shouting from the main part of the strip. It is also a 2 minute walk to the beach.
If you want a hotel that is cheap, close to everything, clean and friendly, I definitely recommend Kastro.
p.s If you think you're a hardcore drinker you have to try the mad drinking games at the bar."

Basic but amazing!
"On arrival to the accomodation we were all given shots and had to fill out a form with our names, facebook names? and so on. They wouldnt let you go to the rooms until they were properly filled out.
After this we got given our keys and got taken to our rooms.
Rooms are quite good for the amount of money we paid for them! big enough seeing as we had alot of people that we met at the hotel in our room for pre drinks before hitting the strip!
Shower was basic and crap but youve only got to put up with it for a week so it didnt bother me at all!
Pool is big enough but there are limited sun loungers so you need to get to the pool early to get a good enough spot!
The apartments are in the perfect place! right at the bottom of the strip so basically its right next to the beach and seeing as its on the strip its right in the middle of all of the action!
The hotel staff were polite and spoke to you every morning, food was lovely, even though we only ate full english's!
You can bring anyone back to the apartments if you wish but you have to keep your door closed, not open. Have no idea why but yeah thats the rules! ha.
2 bars at the front of the apartments were great to start your night off!
Overall its a really good cheap place to stay on the strip & i would definately reccomend!
Been Malia twise now and im back on it this year! Round 3! lets have yaaaa!!
OOH AHH MALIAAA!! "

very small but good food, clean and friendly
"I didnt know i was signed up for a tweentys holiday so was quite surprised when we met the rep next morning. All they talked about was how they were going to get you plastered drunk for the week and how much it would cost. When we said we wern't interested and wanted something more cultural and to take in the sights they ignored us,,,gave no advise or recomendations and never so much as said hello for the rest of the week. It was the staff of Kastro/Charlies bar who suggested places for us to go. They were extremely nice and always asked each day how we got on etc. The food was always spot on, alot of simple meals but good value, great portions and always very tasty. The room was very small,,not what we were expecting at all but after the initial shock it was fine as we didnt spend much time there anyway. it was cleaned every day or two days and always new sheets, towels and toilet roll etc. Nothing ever went missing. On the day of departure we left our luggage in reception as we were not leaving until 1am. They gave us the use of another room when we went back about 8 o'clock to shower and change before getting ready to go home,,free of charge. All in all it is a very basic place but very friendly. It is definately an area for young people having a drunken party holiday but if you get in with the right people there is something for everyone. The squeeze/rock bar accross the road is brilliant,,so friendly and inviting and feels like your home in your local."

welcome to alcatraz
"ive been on holiday to san fransico before in my life i visited the old prison there you may of heard of it alcatraz. let me tell you now, there was NO i mean NO diffence in the standard of the apartments compared to the cells in alcatraz. i was unbelievely shocked. i fell to my knees in dispair, has i had to spend 2 weeks in this, i cant find the words to discribe how filthy this place was. if you like sleeping next to a toilet for 2weeks then this is the place for you. you couldnt swing a cat in the rooms and the stench was absolutly unbearable. malia is a nice place if you enjoy a good kicking now and then. i feel sorry for the people who have booked up to go here has i payed 500 pound and never felt so coned in all my life. knock the place down ill say absolute **** hole. thank you good night much love."
