AMAZING, WE LOVE GEORGE
"Firstly i would just like to say there is more than one fanourakis apartments in malia, one is in the old town and this one is about a 2min walk to the strip.
the location is amazing, its down a random little road with lds of other hotels and the road is well lit. its about 2 mins from the strip where u can find all the bars and clubs.
It run by george and his family, george is amazing and we love him, he was always giving us free shots and fishbowls. the bar is 24hrs and the night barman tony is always happy to sit round and have a chat. dont get on the wrong side of these guys tho as they dont take any [--] from anyone. they do charge if you take guys back to your room but george overlooked it with our mate as we were always nice to him and he knew we would cause no trouble.
The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the beach and we only went here once cos you have to pay for the sunbeds and its a total rip off so we prefered to stay round the pool.
Malia itself is amazin, we went the last week of the season and has an amazin time, i reckonmend going to see the guys at V-bar, Rob at malibu and nathan at banana club. Also georges brother owns the club candy club so free drinks all round in there :)

"I've stayed at loads of different hotel in party places like Malia, Kos, Ibiza etc.... Fanourakis is one of the good ones. What you pay is what you get!
I loved this hotel, George is so friendly and treats people how they treat him. The room cleaning was adequate. We only used the room to sleep and shower in... Isn't that all you want it for in Malia???
George's mother in law takes no messing, but once she knows you're a good egg, she's fine and even gave my friend a free drink!
The room's are very roomy and we were told the hotel is having a refurb ready for 2010. Tony the night bar man was very friendly too, he also doesn't take any messing about. People who aren't staying at the hotel are also allowed to use the pool facilities which is good as my friends were staying at different hotels.
CCTV cameras are around the entrance and the pool so it's safe and tresspassers aren't allowed in or will be questioned! George even helped us sort out our return taxi to the airport!
I would definately recommend staying here.... But dont expect 5* luxury in Malia! it doesn't exist!"

"What a fantastic holiday! Can't wait to go again next year and I'm defo staying at this hotel again. It's nice and small and everyone just mingles with each other and you meet some amazing people. It's great for getting amungst it!
Tony who runs the bar at night is the soundest guy you will ever meet, always up for a laugh. Getting in at 6 in the morning and having a beer with Tony and watching a film! Great stuff.
Malia itself is amazing. We did loads of things. We rented Quads, went to the water park, parasailed, canoed, extreme ringos and the flyfish. So much fun. Very cheap aswell! I took £500 and used it all but did loads of things. Got wasted every night aswell.
I would recommend this hotel and holiday to ANYONE! "

"Three girls stayed here and have just got back after 8 nights at this hotel! Superb! Was our third time in Malia and we have worked there 5 and 6 years ago and this honestly all in all - the best hotel to stay by far. George and his family who run the hotel are genuine and yes as other reviews mention - he will go crazy if you crossed him but he would also go crazy if some1 crossed you, the nan does shout - but its funny and the cleaners are pretty lazy! But honestly its the best hotel ever - its a spotless pool and area its in the perfect location and is such a good laugh!!! We are going back on September 4th for 8 nights - and cant wait to b back there!! On count down already!!!WOOOO - CANT WAIT!!!!"

myself and three others stayed in fanour...
"myself and three others stayed in fanourakis and i have to say, it is the worst place i have ever stayed. when we went to use a pot from the cupboard, it had stale oil in it, we asked for it to be replaced, but they never did. George would sometimes be ok, but then flip out for no apparent reason. we felt as though we were on holiday with our parents. the shower was awful and my sheets were stained. i used my towel to clean the floor as the fridge was leaking and i was told i would be fined if i did it again.for that reason alone , they decided not to clean my room that day.when they did decide to clean, they would just open the door and tell us to get out of the room until they had finished. they were just so rude. if they were based in england i am sure they wouldnt even have a licence. we were given one toilet roll then had to pay for the rest.
Malia itself was absolutely great!! the clubs were good and the drinks were cheap. we hired out quad bikes, great fun but even if you have insurance be careful because they scam you and threaten to get you arrested if you dont pay up. The best club was apollo, everyone was friendly and i would definitely go back to Malia, just not to fanourakis. they dont like young people, so they shouldnt be advertising for all types of ages to stay there. I just wish i had known as our holiday would have been a million times better."

I would advise a few fish bowls to get the night started. I would reccomend this hoilday to either couples or young single people. Best hol so far and there has been a few. I would def go back as it was a lovly place to vist."

I went to Malia in the beginning of Sept...
"I went to Malia in the beginning of Sept 2007 along with two mates. We had the most fantastic holiday ever!!!
The Fanourakis apartments I would highly recommend, they are basic but very clean! The showers could be better but again they are clean, in our shower there was no curtain but the rep later told us that people don't actually know what shower curtains are in Greece, there is also like what is similar to a plug hole in the bathroom floor so all the water dries up quick. The pool in the hotel is spotlessly clean and fairly large with plenty of sun loungers nearby for you to catch a tan.
What is really special about these apartments is that they are run by a very fun and friendly family who are always at your service! The apartments have a 24 hour bar which was fantastic and when Georgina took the baby to bed her husband George who ran the bar would even sit with us and get drunk and give us free shots and drinks! They were really easy to get along with and were forever cooking us food when we were hungover. The one thing I would say though is DO NOT get on the wrong side of them because they DO NOT take any messing especially the Nan who looks after George and Georginas kids, if you play up you will only get one warning second time your out.
Remember to close your patio doors because one night we left ours open and a few creepy crawlies flew in, my friend was in the shower and she had a nasty shock when she realised that she was sharing it with a giant cricket! It was funny though I laughed about that for the rest of the week because she ran out without a stick on! ha ha
The apartments are a couple of steps away from the MAD nightlife but far enough so that you don't hear all the noise when your ready to go to sleep. Malia is great and I'm going back next year but please, please make an effort to go to the reps welcome meeting as they tell you important things Good and Bad about Malia. Never walk back to your hotel on your own because there are gangs of men (usually hanging around on quads by the beach) who watch girls and men who are vulnerable after a drink, you will be safe if you stick with your friends.
Don't let men buy you drinks because there is a lot of spiking which goes on in Malia, also keep a close eye on the gypsy kids, they look cute and you will feel sorry for them but they earn up to 500 euros a night pick pocketing the drunks. I'm not telling you this to put you off because its the best place I've been to on holiday but you really do have to keep your wits about you.
The Night-life is better than Magaluf, Ayia Napa and Benidorm and its very cheap to go out as the PR's are forever offering you free drinks just to go in the clubs. I enjoyed Camelot Castle, Banana, Zig Zags, The Venue, The Coyote Ugly Bar and loads more! You will be spoilt for choice if your self catering as there is loads of lovely places to eat, Greek, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and English; we loved The Red Lion an English pub! The food was gorgeous and a reasonable price. I found Malia quite cheap I only took 600 euros for a week, I came back with 200 and that was after buying presents and everything!
I would advise people to go to Malia between July and the beginning of Sept, towards the end of Sept all the nightclubs close.
I hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did! go to Malia its fantastic and you will meet some great people! xxx"

Fantastic holiday. Accommodation was lo...
"Fantastic holiday. Accommodation was lovely and clean and very spacious (shower wasn't that good) Apartment location great as it's a nice 5min walk back from main strip so you manage to get a few hrs quiet time if you need sleep! Then about 10am the music is back on in the complex and the drinking starts all over again by the pool or on your balcony!!!!
Would recommend it to any young, single party animal. Constant drinking & partying who cares what the apartment is like. Youâll spend most of your time out of it anyway!!!!
Best holiday ever!!!

"What can I say! Malia is legendary and so are the Fanourakis Apartments! George and Georgia made us feel very welcome, food and of course drink was great!
There were 11 of us in total all girls staying on the same floor and we had a wicked time! The pool is great and the hotel is just far enough away from the strip that you canât really hear it at night. But is about a minute away! But to some up the holiday in three words.......... 24 HOUR BAR!
It was too good! kept the party going! Loved every minute of the holiday, want to go back!!!

The Fanourakis were great everything you...
"The Fanourakis were great everything you could expect from a basic holiday if you want something up market you have to stay in a hotel! We were never in the room only to sleep and get ready the rest of the time we were out on the strip which is the best ever or round the pool which plays top music and has nice, cheap food.
The room was massive with four beds we only had one mirror which can be a problem when sharing with three other girls!
Two of our friends were staying on the ground floor and everyone parked the quads outside the balcony which was a bit noisy but thatâs the only bad thing I can say.
They are in the perfect location if you stay on the main street it's too noisy you can't sleep AT ALL! It's only a short walk 5 mins all together, the pr's are a bit annoying though they all try to get you in their bars with offers don't always fall for it!
The pool bar is 24 hours and is great to go back to when you get back from the clubs.
The only reason they don't want you to make loads of noise after 11 is cos there are Greek people who live across the road, you don't have to be silent! And the thing with taking people back they didnât really care when we were there. Apparently its the law but our security guard didn't know who was staying there and who wasn't! Don't forget your key either like us bunch of thicko's coz he only lets you in if he feels like it!
All in all its a good place to stay and Malia is amazing going back 25th July 06 staying in the Patricia next door owned by the same people can't flippin wait!"

Myself and 5 friends stayed at the Fanou...
"Myself and 5 friends stayed at the Fanourakis and had a fantastic time despite the accommodation.
Malia is a brilliant place, there are plenty of bars and clubs and lovely restaurants if you fancy a quite night. Beach is nice and the usual water sports and the weather was fantastic.
The Fanourakis however was seriously mis sold to us. The travel operator told us that this was a place for young and lively people and is advertised in the brochure as such. It is also included in the Freestyle magazine as the place to be if you want to have fun.
On arrival we were taken to the apartments, which were basic but clean. It was night time but we decided to take a walk to try to find our bearings. The clubs and pubs are only a 5 minutes walk to the end of the road. When we walked back 4 of us sat down on the patio outside the hotel for a rest. After a few minutes a man drove over in a car and told us to go to bed. Great start!
The next morning we were woken by the receptionist beating up the girl in the flat below us for having someone back to her room and was refusing to give her, her passport back. When we saw her later that day we were given the rules that 1. no guests in rooms or you were fined 100 euros and
2. No noise between 11pm and 9am or we would be evicted.
One night we had a stereo on at 11.15 getting ready to go out and they came to our room and told us to turn the noise down. And just about every night as we walked to the hotel, someone would appear and tell us to get to bed (thatâs where weâre going!)
I know reading this you might think that we are rowdy young kids but we were all aged between 22 and 25 and just looking for a relaxing fun holiday.
To sell this hotel as a place for young people to stay is extremely unfair. To take your money and then issue you with rules and regulations when you get there is not fair and people should be told before you arrive.
That said we did have a brilliant time because itâs such a great place."

Me and my friend stopped in the Fanourak...
"Me and my friend stopped in the Fanourakis for a week in May and it was really good! The accommodation was basic but clean, and the man who owns it , George was always smiling and cheerful! Him and his wife Georgina always made an effort to talk to you and made us feel very welcome!
If you are looking for a quiet holiday donât stop here as the bar is open 24hours a day and the music is on all this time ,so you hardly get any sleep, but it sort of makes up for it through the day relaxing by the pool and having meals at the hotel bar.
The meals are lovely and a reasonable price and George will put TV on and Galaxy radio to help you sunbathe!
Overall the stay in the Fanourakis made Malia an enjoyable experience just donât mess with mamma Fanourakis!"
