"We were traveling with the family with 2 children (2&4 y.o.) in July 2015. We had a lovely time and sure will come back again. Before our trip we were afraid to meet some difficulties as we are with small children (food etc), but everything was perfect. The hotel is just great for families with children. Three restaurants (2 need to be prebooked) with a wide choice for children, for vegetarians, even for those, who has allergy for gluten. Big grounds, fantastic pools, brilliant animation.... We enjoyed everything. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and can't be waiting to come back soon!

"Me and my family visited the Stella Palace hotel this July. When we arrived the reception took good care of us, they gave us a very nice room close to the swimming pool, which is very nice for our children. Stella Palace has two very big beautiful swimming pools. They also have a private beach and for the guests is everything for free. All the staff is very nice. With the girls from Guest Relation you can book one time the Asian Restaurant and one time the Gourmet Restaurant for free per stay. The food is lovely over there and both of the girls take very good care of you! The guys from animation are also very nice, every night you can go to the theater and enjoy there show. On Sunday you have a Greek night, it is with dancers, fire and firework, you also get some wine, fruit salad and some Greek tapas. We really enjoyed our holiday and would like to come back next year!"

very disappointing experience

"My wife and I, with two friends have recently returned from one week vacation in the Stella Palace hotel and found it to be the worst holiday of our lives
We were fooled into staying here - right from the start –one room was not ready, due to technical problem and the receptionist told us that we need have to stay for two days in one family room; we tried to explain her that we are not one family and we have already paid for two separate rooms …
We didn’t agree, and after almost three hours that we spent with the reception team (who weren’t very nice…), the manager decided to place us in two separate family rooms for one day (that means that three rooms were ready but the hotel preferred to put us in one room for some reason)
In the next day we spent three hours for check out and in again to our new rooms, and all that time the staff were rude and not friendly
After the first dinner three of us had suffered diarrhea ….
During our time there we were not the only ones with food poisoning, we saw several people walking around holding their stomachs in pain, and spoke with some, mostly Russian visitors
To be honest, I have to give some good opinion about the hotel - the pools were big and clean, the hotel location is very close to the sea, and the sunbeds are free.
All in all it was a very disappointing experience and a place that we will avoid arriving to the Stella Palace in the foreseeable future.

Honeymoon In Stella Palace

"We have just returned from our honeymoon in Crete staying at the Stella Palace Hotel. Although the Stella village is very close they are very different.

We had problems when we arrived as our booking agent booked the wrong room for us, this was quickly resloved and we began our holiday.
When arriving you are taken to your room by golf cart which is great no heavy bags to carry. The room we booked was with a private pool, the room was amazing and cleaned everyday! with new towels each day. Due to the themed nights in the resturant variety of food in the evenings was very good although lunch was same each day it was still very tasty. Every guest gets a free night in the Gourmet resturant this is a real treat the food is lovely. All the staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough.

This hotel is great for families as there is loads for the kids, kids reps were very lively and friendly and were fantasic with the them. I have a 6yr old what I liked was they have a sign in / out policy for the kids and only the parent of that child can pick them up.
Adult entertainment although let the hotel down it was terrible.

No plastic cups at the pool area which isnt good as there are so many children around. There are signs up not allowing people to reserve sunbeds but this does happen, we found alot of towels placed at night or first thing in morning.
The hotel is on a quiet road but a ten min walk along the front takes you along the beach where there are a number of places to sunbath. A taxi costin 5.50euro takes you to Hersonissos were there are alot of bars and cafe and shops well worth a visit... As an all inclusive its well worth it same rules as many all inclusive reguarding drinks it is 2 each but thats expected which we had no problems with. We really enjoied our holiday and we are planning to return with our family next summer."

Mixed feelings

"Location: the hotel is situated in a small village, however, you can get there almost all you want: rent a car, buy souvenirs, enjoy Greek tavern and stare at local people (but don't expect vivid night life here). 21km to Heraklion, 4 - to Hersonissos. The hotel has its own beach with free equipment , but it's too tiny. Better go to the left and you'll find a better one - clean, nice and sandy - and lie on your own towel.
Hotel territory: large, clean and picturesque. plenty of flowers and palms, with three large swimming-pools (depth: 0,3m-1,65 m).
Public: (in descending order) Polish families with children (this summer the hotel has Polish animation team), French old couples, Russians, English.
Staff: reception - very friendly (!), English\Russian\Polish-speaking. They'll take you and your luggage on a golf-car and deliver to the room:) Restaurant waiters are also friendly, some a bit annoying but if you do not react they'll leave you alone. Warning: sometimes different managers give you different answers: check things twice if you hesitate (I asked, if I could swim in the pool in the evening and was told that I could until 1PM that was quite strange, then I asked the reception they told that the pool was closing at 8PM).
Rooms: standard rooms are not quite large, however, clean and quite cosy with nice chairs and table in the balcony. Not a 5* standard: no tea\coffee devices, refrigerator works only on warming things but not cooling. there's no electricity when you leave the room, so be prepared to come to a hot room in the afternoon (it takes pretty much time to cool - a bit - the room). When we came our douche was out of order, however, it was fixed after I had asked the reception for 2 times. The main building is a nice place to spend hot afternoons - it's lobby is cool, there are several terraces with nice view.
Rooms are quite clean, however, it depends on maids, I think. Our towels were changed only on the 4th day of stay (but then changed 1 time in 2 days). bath-gel and shampoo were never changed (we stayed for a week). No hair conditioner, no bathrobes and slippers. No internet in rooms, you can have it only in lobby (if you have a notebook, for 20Euro a week)
Meals: sea food night once a week; the choice is quite large (however, fruits are only : peach, water-melons, oranges, apples, kiwis). If you stay for a week the choice is OK, however, by the end of the week breakfast can be annoying a bit - you have to mix old things to get something new=))

Recommend: for families with small children (in Stella Village they have a nice tiny 'aqua park'); however, didn't see kids menu (you'd better check it in advance), old couples
Not recommend: for romantic holidays (it's better to choose something more private, for example, Blue Palace)."

"Our family holiday at the Stella Palace Hotel was probably the most disappointing holiday we have ever had. It isn't the four star Thomas cook holiday that we were expecting, more like a three. The web page is deceiving it shows a lovely display of prawns and we didn't see a single prawn all week. The maincourse food in the restaurant was cold, even when we made sure that we were the first people in at 7pm, the restaurant manager advised me to use the microwave. The shower head wasn't connected to the wall, no bin in the room for general rubbish. The flower beds were mainly weeds, the whole week we were there I didn't see anyone cleaning the pool."

Main Restaurant - Some waiters very helpfull, but others serving very automaticaly.
Mini Club - it's open for 5 hours a day and full closed out of the hours. It should be open out of the hours without animators.
The supervisor of "Elia" Restaurant A La Carte proved a high level of hospitality and also the reception manager was very helpfull and understandfull."

"We were there for 7 days in June having All Inclusive package.
there is no a la cart restaurant - it's fixed menu
free drinks are of terrible quality
food is pretty awful - any local tavern is so much better choice
they have "live cooking show" - some kitchen apprentice is baking pizza in electric oven
beach is too small and crowded
service is really bad for a 5* hotel - we couldn't get lunch packet because we didn't order it the day before; OK but they couldn't give us a bottle of water either, because "they can't do that"
there is no free internet in a 5* hotel
air condition is centrally regulated
one positive thing - rooms were clean
but we got bath gel& shampoo refill only once in a 7 days
the people who are running the hotel are economy wizzards they are saving on everything
airplane route is just over the hotel and the airport is only 5km away - good thing for airplane watchers ;)

Not recommended!"
