a wonderfull place
"my wife and i stayed at the papadakis last year. prior to arrival we were a little apprehensive about how the holliday was going to pan out(we read the reveiws above) on our arrival we were greeted by Maria, this lovely lady could not do enough for us. we were shown to our suite wich was clean and roomy. we dropped off our bags and went straight to the bar and had a lovely evening drinking Beer and Raki and chatting to Maria. The next day we met Yannis Maria's cousin (not sure of the spelling) very funny bloke with whom i had a few late sessions with. i think sacha baron cohen got half his characters from this guy. then we met kostas. one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet once a week he gets all the family round and has a big Free bbq and the raki flows freely. well these are just a few things that made our stay there a pleasurable one, sorry it took so long to write a little reveiw but rest assured our holliday was a memorable one. GREAT GREAT Villas
"We spent 10 days at these villas in May and when we arrived we were greeted by Maria and Kostas and they were brilliant we were welcomed straight a way by fellow guests who became friends that helped make the holiday. Yanis the barman was a great barman as nothing was too much bother for him a GREAT GREAT holiday. It is in a good location and is basic and clean. You do have to respect their tax laws but remember this is Greece the country that has problems with the euro.
Every body is different and its not every body's ideal holiday but most of the people we met there was looking to rebook again, I know we are going back next year."

Good inexpensive accomadation
"My wife and I live on the south coast of Crete and have 'holidayed' twice at Hersonissos for a couple of days at a time. If anyone expects self catering apartment to be that then they should pitch a tent somewhere and bring everything with them. We go self catering because we get a bed, toilet, shower, kettle and a fridge. Why should we need anything more. The rooms cater for your basic needs which is reflected in the price. Maria, Kostas and Yianis are plesent, sociable and very helpful. The pool isn't dirty and we are allowed to take our own drinks to our apartment. Some peop;e want all for nothing. They'd probably complain at the Ritz."

Holiday Hell... Stay away from Capadakis Villas..
"We arrived at Papadakis Villas 2am after travelling from Gatwick through the night..The resort was closed but there was a note on the "Fat frog" bar door asking late arrivals to phone the mob no shown.(Fortunately we had our phones)with us... Kostas turned up over an hour later.. We were very hot and tired and thirsty. Kostas sold us a bottle of water for 2 euros.. very expensive! 25-30 cents downtown. He showed us into our apartment which was ver small and didnt look clean at all. only a sink drainer. No where to prepare food.. I could have cried.. We had to spend 10 days here. I have rented some very basic apartments as i lived abroad for ten years in various countries.. Never have i ever felt so cheated.. The hotrings were useless one of which didnt work properly so we couldnt cook our own breakfast as planned.. Breakfast at Fat frog bar per person (5 euros + 2 euros cup of tea or coffee.. Had we have eaten there it would have been approx 21 euros per morning.. We ate up in Koutouloufari each morning for 4 euros each (tea/coofee) included.. Wasnt allowed to eat ice creams/lollies around pool which we had bought in from outside.. Maria said for Tax purposes.. My god being from uk, i thought we were the TAX nation..! Couldnt eat on our balcony as Wooden rail rotted and broken. Very dangerous.. Pointed this out to Kostas.. said he didnt think it was that bad.. I wasnt taking any chances..! Had our daughter fell to the next floor (20 ft) she would definately have seriously injured herself or ??.. Kostas and Maria will be your bestest friends as long as you are spending money there..and freedom will allways make sure your glass is never empty.. Long as you are paying.. We went on a budget.. and spent around £1800.... My advise if you want to travel to Crete PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CRAPADAKIS VILLAS... I will take the time to upload pictures of our apartment.. Which i find odd the people who placed the fantastic reviews failed to do ??"

"We have just returned from a 2 week holiday to the papadakis villas, they are typical greek accomodation just what you expect, but the owners Kostas and Maria are not whatyou usually expect in owners they broke the mould when they made these two, absolutely fantastic nothing too much trouble always acknowledge you with a wave and a smile, thankyou both. The linen was changed every other day bins emptied the same.Food at the bar excellent ,greek salad the best we have had in a very long time, chicken wrap also to die for. They hold a weekly all you can eat bbq 15euros pp,not keen on bbqs so didnt go.Villas setting very pretty and done in blue and white and set halfway between Hersonissos down hill and the villages of Koutouloufari and old Hersonissos up the hill both within 10mins of apartments. These are definately apartments i would highly recomend and would definately use again.Only one niggle and that is would be nice to have a toaster (petty i know)but that is only gripe we had ."

Excellent place to stay!
"Perfect location...near the sea, shopping area and near an old village (10 minutes walk maximum for each). Kostas and Maria are very friendly owners an will go out of their way to help every time. Lefteris the barman is a legend... but you will have to go and find out why!!! Rooms are basic with air con and safe box as an option but this is standard practice in Crete. More importantly they are very clean and kept this way! Kostas will give you great unbiased advice so listen to him for the best restaurants etc as other people in that town can have favoritism to some restaurants so they can get free food etc. If you don't fancy eating out Maria's mom is a mean cook and 'Mama's special' is a different daily Cretan special priced at about 5 euros each which is a bargain considering how fresh and delicious it is!! There were so many people who stayed when I was there that said as they left that they would be back next year and were of all ages which sums it up really!!!"

Not for young group of friends
"We stayed in papadakis for a week long holiday after our exams. We had four rooms between us and all were different sizes, some were bigger than others, if you get a small one, they are very small. In one of the rooms the air conditioning was broken, we told the management about this but they didn't fix it till the second last day- the room was like a sauna and I onlt went in it once, it was unbearable. In my room the light in the bathroom went and wasn't fixed for four days which got extremely annoying at night time. If you are going with a group of friends I would not recommend to stay here, it is a small place and the craic was to be had further up the hill. Also there is a video on youtube from somebody which shows a room."

"Had a wonderfull time here. Papadakis villa's is run by Kostas and Maria with the help of lefaris in the bar. We was made so welcome , nothing was to much trouble for them.
The rooms were basic but we had everything that we need. We spent a lot of time chilling out round by the Pool and the greek salads are too die for . Organic ingrediants grown by Maria's father. Lovely Lovely people.
A holiday to remember and I will definately be going back."

"After a busy year we really needed somewhere we could chill out and recharge, and we found it at the Papadakis Villas Apartments!
The owners, Kostas and Maria, and bar staff, Lefteris (sorry about the spelling!) were spot on. They were always happy to help and very skilled at making a real variety of drinks!
The apartments are brilliantly placed, halfway between the busy town of Hersonissos and the quieter villages of Koutouloufari and Piscopiano, which offer an endless choice of places to eat, and buy anything. The rooms were basic, but typical Greek style, with all you'd need for your stay, and the pool was a great relief for the hot weather.
Now recharged and hoping to return in September this year."

Just what we wanted
"Excellent location, enabled us easy access to busy port or a simple walk uphill to a lovely village. The owners Maria and Kostas very very helpful, nothing to much trouble and Kostas has a great Greek sense of humour, they recommended some great cheap tavernas away from the expensive front. Accomodation, basic clean and great value for money, basic food menu, try the Greek salad, YUM. Everyone made to feel welcome and there was a great family atmosphere. Girlfriend got seriously ill on the second day and Maria and Kostas could not have helped more. THANKS. We will be back. Truly calm and relaxing place to stay. Beware of Kostas CCTV on the swimming pool!!"

Lovely place, lovely people basic but very clean Greek style rooms
"The rooms are basic but very clean in blues and whites a very comfortable bed a wet room Greek style, room cleaned towels changed etc three times and we were only there for eight days. We do not drink and were not made to feel unwelcome which has happened to us when we have been to Crete before, as we are not sitting in the bar drinking so we are not as profitable as some guests, but if you like a drink the bar is nice and well run by Costas and his family the bar food is very good according to my mother, my husband is a gyros freak so we didnât eat at the bar the villages at the top of the hill all did very good food the sea front not so good a lot of the little extras have gone, as we all are watching our budgets food not as fresh majority of fish in batter so I would think frozen, if you want a good meal go to the villages up the hill. It is 5/10 min walk from town to Papadakis Villas its an easy walk my mom needs a new hip and she was fine."

Incredible family run accomodation - great for all ages
"Booked through TravelRepublic.co.uk
My girfriend and myself went here for a week last year - think it was August. Main objective was to relax and spend some time together - romantic getaway you could say.
There was a bit of confusion with the transfer, we couldnt find it! But some guy saw us looking confused and sorted us out which was nice.
As we got close to the apartment we saw the clubs and kebab shops and started to worry, but its actually not a problem. Read on...
The apartments are located in the middle of everything yet has nothing around it...if you walk 5 minutes up the hill you get access to 3 of the old villages, where there are cobble streets and lots of excellent restaurants with amazing views over crete. If you walk down the hill towards the harbour, you have access to all the nightlife. Its not exactly magaluf but it looked good for a lads/girls week away.
During the day, the clubby harbour area tranforms into a nice area to have a walk and grab a few drinks or a bite to eat.
There are lots of nice restaurants around.
Costas and his brother runs the Papadakis villas for his father in law - we met him, plus Costas wife and their babies. Costas and his brother will do anything for you to ensure you have a great stay - they're top guys.
Costas reccommended beaches, restaurants, quad hire stations, places to go on the quad etc that we wouldnt have found without him.
Hiring a quad was the best thing we did - without it, we wouldnt have found all the nice beaches that we did. I would really reccomend getting one - if you are safe and considerate, you will be fine. Its the kids who go mad that get hurt.
Search this place on google and find costas on bebo - you can book with him direct to save money.
Top marks - going back this year in September."
