Best holiday ever!
"Just arrived fm a 2 wks stay at Andreas july'12.What a Lovely, clean and peaceful place,Owners were excellant,so friendly, especially minas who was so jolly 24/7,only 2 mins walk to a lovely sandy beach.Tryed every local restuarant fm next door,Skorpios,George's,Medusa & Milos all quite most nites. If you walk past all these bars you get to top main road & Rainbow bar.Turn left and Cross the main road(carefully can be very busy) to the nearest bus stop they come every 30 mins, last bus at 21:45 we went to Hersonssis for 3e50each,For sat nite life,Loads of bars, niteclubs there.very busy around 11/midnight-6am.Off bus Crossroad & walk down through the shops to the beach,& u won't miss them.We got in at 5am via Taxi for 15e.(quite expensive about £12)Very warm even at that time 25degress. Or a 25-30 mins walk to main strip of gouves, along the beach, left at the white church,or one before church, then right just bfe main road.to a cross roads you know when your there when you see the chinese lantens in front of you,Chinese rest a must!.Which was also very Quiet very nite, due to recession & the all inclusive hotels opening up in the area,Sadly. Also try Atlantis a bit futher down on right,Great friendly guys.mke Super Pizzas 8e each.nearer on the coast line they's Island rest had the best views of the sea and sunsetting,Magic show was great for kids and some ticks where really amazing. But Yes the Planes can be very regular, main flight path to airport.but didn't bother us,because the grounds were so beautiful & clean. In pool most days. Our room was spacious, and modern, but shower was a little old and if you didn't shower before 7pm it was cold, when all hot water had gone only heat source was fm heat of sun,(The norm in crete).Maids came in daily, changed towels every 3/4 days.14" tv,some english programs & american films but on late.Kettle,Toaster,2 electric rings but nothing else.(Eg no Oven,Grill or Microwave) Aircon at a 45euro a wk & safe 10e a wk.We met 11 different couples during our stay all very friendly,it was like one big family.Enjoyed sun nite bbq 15e pp Greek music & dancing if you want to join in!.Had brunch every day on site.lovely fresh cooked snacks. But they dont really like you to eat or drink foods near pool or bar area that are bought fm outside(eg supermarket)self catering???We Loved the choc milkshakes & Local beer Mytho @ 2e(Yamas,Cheers).Bars open everynite till you drop. But it was a very quite part of gouves,if you are want a relaxing quite holiday then this is the one for you.But you could can Hire a car if you want to see more as it's 1 of the biggest greek islands.Watercity in Anopolis not far fm Gouves is the biggest & best waterpark on the island, great fun day out!Jeep Safari was the best, had a fab day.BBQ lunch,Great Guys laugh a minute. walked up to the Cave of Zeus 20-25mins not easy in 38 degrees heat.not much to see,but nice & cool down in the cave.200 steps down, but that means 200 steps back up though.then back down the mountain. Thanks to the all the Andreas family for the best holiday ever. Tracy and Simon fm Yorkshire."

"Booked a last minute deal here, and were SO glad we did. The apartments are a two minute walk from the beach and local amenities and yet in a very quiet area of the resort. Basic but attractive and very welcoming, the room did everything we wanted it to and was a perfect base after a hard days relaxing by the pool. Outside, Andreas offers a glorious garden replete with sunloungers, a pool and a homely bar and restaurant area where everything from a full english to pizza is served, by way of homemade chips and hefty sandwiches. Gouves is quiet, very chilled and perfect if you're looking for a chilled out holiday - there is an excellent array of taverna and restaurants offering traditional Greek fare and English food, all washed down with ouzo and raki, often on the house as an aperitif. The beach is gorgeous, large and never overly crowded, and there is plenty to see and do, with Heraklion and Knossos for the culturally minded, or Hersonissos or Malia for the party goers, all within 30 minutes of the reliable bus route. I cannot recommend the hotel or the resort enough, and I am already planning my next visit. A huge thank you to the wonderful hospitality of our host Minas, who waited til 2am just to wave us off and thank us - that's proper service!"

Great little place shame about the location
"Returned from a two week stay at the Andreas Villa in May. Accomodation was basic but adequate. Alway clean. You can get 'snacks' such as Pizza and various salads, even a full English breakfast, any time of the day. And the home-made chips are to die for - just like mum used to make! Minas and Minar (brother and sister) who run the place are brilliant! Can't do enough for you. It turned cold for a couple of days whilst we were there and they immediately went out and bought huge outdoor type heater to keep us all comfortable. The whole family are great. Mum and Dad visit the place almost every day and add to the family atmosphere. However... Gouves as a resort is about as exciting as Morcambe (sorry Morcambe) during a wet October. Nothing to see, nothing much to do. One street of shops and that's about your lot. If you're looking for real peace and quiet this is the place for you. If you looking for something that registers on the 'Alive Scale' avoid at all costs. Would I go back? Yes I would, for a short break at the aprtaments. Can't praise the family enough. I think the mistake I made was not hiring a car and using Gouves as a base to explore the island.(Never driven on that side of the road and the roads are slightly mental!!) Now that would have beena holiday "

This is the place-you are welcomed as part of the family, nothing is too much trouble and if you want to sit quietly ypu can if you want to party you can-its practically idillic. Great location for the town and beach with great taverna's nearby if you decide to leave the Andreas bar area."

nothing is too much for Minas and his sister Mania
"a very pleasant oasis in a dusty part of this resort. The rooms are spacious and well provided, the gardens a delight of colour and the swimming pool ultra clean and well used. There is a cafe area and snacks available until late as well as a well-stocked bar. There are a number of good restaurants nearby serving local food, the best being Medusa. There is a beach, but nothing fancy. Excellent if you want a relaxing holiday or as a centre for hire car sightseeing. But what makes it No. 1 for us is the friendly service afforded by Minas and his sister Mania. For them it seems, nothing is too much for their guests."

great place for a holiday
"Very friendly and relaxing. Minas and Manya were both very helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. The barbecue on sundays was very good. I suppose some people may think it was lukewarm but from experience thats how most greeks eat there food and we would recomend it. The rooms were nice and cleaned regularly. There was some building work going on nearby but we did not find it a problem more of an novelty. Some great restaurants close by hard to pick one out. The main street a good 20- 25 min walk but it did not bother us. Snack bar limited but what they do is nice. We would go back again."

A fantastic holiday
"We have just arrived back from these lovely apartments in Gouves. The family that run them Minas and Minya are the most friendliest people. They make you feel like one of the family. Sarah Minas s girlfriend is lovely and has just joined the family to live. There are lots of lovely restaurants but you must try Antholovi. Poppy is the loveliest host and the food is very good and very cheap. But the people that stayed there while we were there made our holiday. It is a small friendly apartment block and everyone was very friendly. Hi to Noel and Mel he was so funny. Jeanette and Murray from Edinburgh were the most genuine people ever and Alan and Angela were lovely too. They even waited up until 3am with Minas and Sarah this morning to wave us off. Hi also to Tony Diand and Jake from Crewe they were a lovely family who keep going back to the Andreas apartments which speaks for itself. Also go to Medusa restaurant and see Antonio, hes nuts but great. See you all again soon Feel so chilled Sue and Colin Tina and Gary"
