Olive Grove Apartments

maybe we were expecting too much
"Okay, we didn't get the "quiet" room at olive grove as requested, but sadly when we asked to move to another room,(road noise, bathroom smell) it didn't go down too well with the owner.(maybe not used to receiving complaints directly?)after meeting our rep, managed to move us, but felt ostracized that we had dared to complain.
our new room appeared okay, but when we checked our beds, found long/short dark hairs underneath the sheets on both beds(ugh)the sheets were well worn and grey, even had old blood stain on it!(of course, we took photos of the blood and someones hairs!)
from the balcony we could see a downstairs apt being cleaned. one cloth washed the bathroom, then taken to wipe the dining table?
the dog was a nuisance, tearing from the bar to the main gate, barking when the mood took it.
the pool area was cramped, not relaxing at all.
we moved to Coralie apartments which was clean ,spacious and relaxing.
I handed the keys to the first member of staff I saw, explained why we were leaving,(blood, hairs, bathroom smell)he smiled as he accepted them, said, okay, and we left!
so, that we our experience of Olive Grove Elounda.
we are well traveled, so know what's what, didn't expect a palace, but how come the Coralie apartments were perfect?"

"Donna & David Wales
Stayed at these apartments for 2 weeks in July this year they'r kept very clean and are quite spacious. Dimitris his wife Julia and their 3 sons make you very welcome and will help in anway they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. We love Elounda this was our second visit & have just booked to retun to the Olive Grove next year but this time for 3 weeks which I think says a lot about the place, we were hoping to go in September but unfortunatly we are not going to be able to. We booked this holiday with Kosmar this year and unbelievingly the prices are lower for next year. I would highly recomend these apartments I think they are probably the best situated in Elounda, can't wait to go back."

Superb holiday Gary & Adele Wolverhampton
"We have just come back from a weeks holiday at the Olive Grove. What can I say it was fantastic the rooms are clean and huge and the family that run this can not do enough for you. I recommend the BBQ night really good value for money and only 12euros each.
The location you can not beat it as it is right in the centre of Elounda I have stopped in a few places in Elounda but this is the best place by far. Going back September can not wait,"

"We stayed here for 2 weeks with our 10 month old son. The accommodation was excellent and so was the postion of the apartments. We were in the centre of the village and an excellent base for us. The family who run the business were helpful at all times and nothing was any bother to them. We would definately reccommend this accommodation to anyone and we are hoping to return in the near future.
The apartments were spacious, extremely clean and cool with the air conditioning. The cleaner came on a regular basis which was appreciated.
These apartments are a fantastic base for anyone wanting to enjoy Elounda.
Throughout the stay we were made to feel welcome and this just made the holiday even better."

Love this place!!
"Have stayed in Elounda a few times but this was the first time at the Olive Grove - it has now spolied us to stay anywhere else. The place is fantastic - the apartments are really big, modern and very clean. The pool and pool bar area are also immaculate.
The pool bar is ran by the owners sons who are the most helpful and friendly people we have ever met on holiday. Nothing is too much trouble and they have a great sense of fun.
The weekly BBQ night was great - such value for money and the white wine served with our meal was the best glass of white I've had out of anywhere I've been in Greece ( and I've drank a few). Unfortunately we were only there a week but would definitely have done the BBQ the second week had we been there.
Cannot praise this place or the people enough, they really made this one of the best holidays we've had and we cannot wait to get back.
Apart from the lovely family who run this place, we cannot forget to mention Molly the dog. She is the cutest most well behaved pup you will get to meet."

"we have just returned from olive grove, having spent 2 weeks there. Great appartments, we stayed in the 4 bed, 2 bedroom appartment, which is the biggest place you will ever see!! It was equipped with 2 big bedrooms, dining room, living room, bathroom, kitchen and huge balcony with furniture. It even had a washing machine, proper decent cooker and iron and ironing board!!!!!!!!!! Pool was lovely, no problems getting a sun lounger. The owners have a dog, we are not dog lovers and found it a little annoying having the dog running everywhere (including on our loungers / towels) - but to be honest it really wasn't enough to spoil our holiday in the least. Olive Grove is located right in the town centre, pefect location for eating and drinking out, but it' still quiet. I would avoid the BBQ evening at olive grove, contrary to what another reviewer said, we obviously caught them on a bad day, it was 10 euros for not a lot of food and undrinkable wine. Best avoided, especially when you can eat so very cheaply in Elounda. Elounda is fairly small, but lovely restaurants (couldn't fault any we ate in), Babel bar does nice lunch snacks and is run by nice people! There's a couple of lovely pizzeria beside this bar. Spinaloga island is good for a few hours away from resort. We went last 2 weeks of May and unfortuntely we saw some rain..... but obviously as we were preparing to leave the weather was glorious! Overall a fab time!"

Great base for Spinalonga
"The Olive Grove apartments were perfect for our stay in Elounda. Accommodation tends to be expensive compared to the rest of Crete, but these self-catering apartments were clean and modern with no frills and excellent value at 50 euros a night. It was not easy to find them on the net but we googled Elounda and eventually tracked them down and booked direct. We arrived on 2 May when they were just opening for the season so we had the place to ourselves. The swimming pool was just being filled â it had to be redone due to âredâ rain the day before. The water was a bit chilly but we managed a swim. The location is fantastic, just off the main square and harbour â perfect for walking to the many restaurants and getting a boat trip to Spinalonga. We wanted to get the boat to Spinalonga but return on the boat to Plaka and walk back to Elounda, which is about 5km on the road and you get great views of the island. This was no problem with the boat captains and we just paid for the return trip from Elounda.
For eating out we recommend the Lotus Eaters (just beyond the Ferryman) which is run by an English family, mum and dad in the kitchen and fronted by Daniel and his delightful wife Oksana. We also had a good meal at the Olonda, a couple of doors away. If you visit Plaka, you must have lunch or coffee at the Ilias café on the left as you go down to the boat ramp. It is run by a lovely Belgian couple, Hans (Iannis) and Monica. They and their little cat Knut made us feel most welcome and gave us bottles of water for our walk back to Elounda."

FANTASTIC HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
"I have just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at the Olive grove apartments. I went with a friend for a girly relaxing break with stuff to do and plenty of bars. These apartments have a great location in town and are close to all amenities Elounda has to offer. They are well run and very clean and all member's of staff are really friendly. We stayed in the 2 bedded apartment and it is huge and so well equipt for greek accomodation.
Elouda itself is really nice and has ample bars and restaurants of really good standards. Friends bar and Venue are a really good choice for drinks and lunch. Olondio on the harbour is great for an evening meal with traditional good food.
Over all the holiday was one of the best I have ever had and Im a Travel Agent, and we tend to be the pickiest in the business."

"what can i say other than a fantastic apartment, fantastic resort and fantastic people. i first went to elounda in sept 2005 with my husband for our honeymoon and loved it so much that i returned april 2006 with 2 girlfriends. we had the time of our lives. julia, dimitiris mano and andreas made us feel so welcome. the apartments are recently new, they were very clean and set in the centre of the town by the church, so is only a 2 minute walk to bars restaurants and supermarket.
some bars we can well recommend are friends, allergos and eden, and of course the bar at olive grove apartments where in the evening you are served by mano!
as for restaurants we only ever ate at ellis place owned by george and family, lovely home cooked food, and great entertainment from george!!!!!
this is truly the best place we have ever been and are planning another visit at the end of september, we have made some great friends."
