Awful and complacent
"Terrible place! Room not too bad but was infested with mosquitoes- air conditioning leaking and Coke bottle attached to it!!!! Pools are quite nice but ladder to large pool doesn't feel secure and loungers and parasols are not well maintained. The pool area has no atmosphere and radio turned down. Yesterday I showed liking to a song and the channel was changed! The woman at the bar is miserable and is like Mrs Doyle from father ted, without the service!!!! The drinks on offer are awful and limited and bar snacks are just the old croissants that didn't get eaten at breakfast!!!!! As Brits we have received filthy looks and stares from the Russian guests (who are many). We are not looked after here at all, but they are! The food is bland and has made us all ill. Bowls and cups run out. Everyone has had diarrhea. The beach at Agia Pelagia is lovely but the walk there from the hotel is more 30 minutes than the 15 they claim! The shuttle bus doesn't run enough and the Russians push themselves onto it! Evenings here are dreadful and boring - no selection of drinks, no entertainment and no music. To add insult to injury, yesterday we had a note out on our door apologizing in advance for the fact that due to a social event there would be more noise than usual. We, as paying guests, got excited and thought that we actually had had something laid on for us but, on checking at reception, we discovered that the owner of the hotel was having a party for his cronies, which kept guests awake until 2.30am!!!! Absolutely unbelievable. "

"My visit to Nicholas started on the 3rd of August 2016 till the 12th of August 2016. We was a group of 6 with 2 children aged 2 and 6. We arrived at the hotel early hours in morning and we went straight to the reception and the man behind the counter told us that the number of people that had been written down on the paper was 4 and the rooms that we were given would not fit us all. But we got told there was no other way of getting around the situation. We had agreed due to having young children with us that we will stay in these rooms for the night and then get moved in the morning. We got into the rooms they were clean but little things were causing a big problem such as the toilet seat having a massive crack, the shower not being on the wall, no chain on the toilet, no air con(â¬5 a day), no towels and the balcony was not safe for the children because there were gaps that they could fall out of. Moving on the next morning when we got to the counter we got told that there was still no rooms available and we then has to spend another night apart from each other and in these tiny rooms that were not meant to fit us. Then the following day we had to wait till 12 o clock to then get moved into a villa which had 1 room with a double bed and another with 3 singles bed then in the living room had a broken camp bed. Each bed had to be used including the camp bed as there was not enough room to avoid using the camp bed. The kitchen has no plates or cutlery or any equipment which means you can't even buy any food to cook in the villa. However after a couple hours of staying in this villa we then had a massive cockroach appear in our room which then ran into the gaps in the kitchen counters and then we found more coach roaches appearing. We was all awake throughout that night concerned about these cockroaches and afraid that they will then appear in the rooms. The following day the cleaners then came in and sprayed the villa with cockroach spray which we was then told we was not allowed to stay in the villa because of the spray being very strong. That night We then went to sleep but then woke up to one of the children constantly coughing because of the spray that had been used. Our villa is invested in mosquitoes and everyone is covered in bites also it's a hassle to sleep because they are constantly flying around you and making a busing noise but the youngest child is covered in bed bug bites which is from the filthy mattresses. Which overall just gave us a bad experience of the hotel. Then to just make matters worse the food is not nice at all they have the same thing on the menu everyday and most foods are stale and there's just flies everywhere hovering over the food. There's a massive Que when it's time to go for dinner which can take around 30 minutes just to get your food. When you go to sit down with your food there's loads of flies on the table and then your constantly having to move them away.So our group was just living on bread the whole holiday and then having to pay more money for food outside of the hotel considering we did go all inclusive in the hotel. The bar outside the hotel which serves the drinks doesn't stars till 10:30-9:30 and some days it can even start later. However when you book the holiday you do get told that it starts at 10:30 And ends at 10:30 at night which is incorrect. The drinks are very basic and there's not much to choose from. You get told there is a variety of drinks to choose from which in reality it's only beer or warm whine and the soft drinks have black bits inside which shows that there not cleaning the pipes. The entertainment is nothing like what you get told as you get a women that comes late at night (9o clock) that dances to a couple song for about 30 minutes and then goes. The children are then left to have to go and play on the play ground, which is not safe at all. In the playground there is nails hanging out of the rocking chair and the roundabout has a hole. The walk to the beach is ridiculous you get told is a 10 minute walk which in fact it's not it's like a 30 minute walk and with the heat being so hot it's a struggle to walk down to the beach and back up. The shuttle bus does drop you up and down but you get told it's only available at certain times and the times given are stupid. The manager of the hotel just sits there and watches his employees struggle and work very hard to please everyone. You can also hear him constantly shouting at the staff in there language. However The staff in the hotel are absolutely lovely and are so polite and will do anything to help and try and make your stay better. We have met 3 English families whilst being here which have also had a horrific experience and have complained to the staff and as usual nothing gets solved. Overall it has been the worse holiday I have ever been on and if you are thinking to book your hotel with Nicolas villas I would think again because your going regret it!!!!!! "

Fabulous Value for money!! Perfect for a relaxing break ....
"Lovely, Polite friendly staff that were always there to help . The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh bedding every other day. the rooms were beautiful and modern with a balcony , fridge and dressing table. the food was fresh and tasty. there was a big basket of fresh bread at every meal that was gorgeous! the weather was very hot and the only advice i would give is make sure you take insect replant and bite cream as there were a few flies ect. we wanted a last minute all inclusive cheap deal and we were very shocked with what we got. it was beautiful. the area itself is quiet secluded , but there is a free mini bus throughout the day into the town and beach. had a fab time! try the cocktails ..."

Fantastic week away....
"We have just arrived back in the uk from the Nicholas Villas. What a great week away we had. Reading the reviews before we went I was surprised at the amount of Brits at the complex. Rooms were spotless, cleaned every day. 5 euros a week for the safe in your room and 3 euros a day for the aircon. On the day of departure we paid 10 euros to keep the room on until we got picked up at 11pm. We stayed in the new block with the sea views. All the rooms had a fridge in them and a small TV. There is a lift in theis block as well should you require it. The older block were apartments with full kitchens. Food was great, not tons of choice but enough. You wont go hungry, plenty of fresh salads, fresh bread. Every day there was some sort of pasta with a sauce and meat with potatos of some sort. By the pool bar in the day they have pizza in the morning then later on they have cakes. All inclusive in the day is tea, coffee, beer, wine, ouzo, raki and soft drinks. Come 6pm all the above plus cocktails and spirits. The staff are amazing the hours they put in is unreal. Nothing is to much bother. Yani the manager is on the bar, in the restaurant even driving the shuttle bus into the village. The girls on the bar are great too always smiling. Finally Lee odd job man, jack of all trades. Great to ask advice on and point you in the right direction. Yes the complex is in a quiet location, we knew this before we went however you dont need to leave the complex if you just want a quiet relaxing week in the sun. We walked down the hill into the village on our last night, we thought we'd better just so we had seen something other than the complex it takes about 20 mins, coming back we got the bus though. Overall we had a totally relaxing week away and met some fantastic people whilst we were there. If you want a wild crazy action packed week away dont go here, However if you want a base to exlore the Island by car plenty of free parking at the complex or a relaxing week in the sun with good food, drinks a flowing and great people this is the place for you. I'd definately go back..."

A place to relax and chill
"This is the place if you are wanting to relax, very clean, food very good if it is not as hot as you would like there is a micro wave provided so no need for complaints. and the staff are excellent, Although isolated there is the mini bus which takes you to the village and the beach so you have the best of both worlds . No need to worry about sun loungers as you can have your choice and the outside bar is a friedly place to sit in the evening and make friends, The Staff - Yiannis who is the profesional gent should now be the manager and well deserved. the bar staff demure and delightfull Anna and the bubbly and funny Florina . Then there is Lee who is a one man band from cleaning the pool , repairing any faults, driving the bus will collect newspapers or anything you need from the village, We hope your water works are all in good order, the cleaning staff always have a smile and a word, as does the wonderful chef. One word of warning there do not at the moment provide a courtesy room for departures and charge an excessive amount to keep the rooms available until departure."

Nicolas Villas, Agia Pelagia...wonderful holiday!
"We've just spent a wonderful, relaxing week at the Nicolas Villas Hotel. The hotel and the rooms are modern, spacious and clean. The hotel is all inclusive and the food was amazing, very little repetition and a wide choice even for veggies like me. Swimming pool is a lovely infinity pool which is well maintained and very large, there is a smaller childrens pool which was complete with inflatables and toys. There are also plenty of sunbeds and a lovely terraced pool bar, ideal for sitting around in the evening sipping your 'free' cocktails or whatever else takes your fancy (lots to choose from on the drinks menu). The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful especially Giannis (Manager) and Lea (Mini Bus driver, Pool maintenance and general 'do it all' guy). Lea even invited us into the local village to visit a typical Greek restaurant accompanied by his lovely wife Louise. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Nicolas Villas to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday on the beautiful island of Crete."

"We had a fantasstic time here... There were four of us; my husband and I (both in our late 30's) and our two children who are 11 and 9. All four of us loved this hotel. The staff are amazing; friendly, polite and fun. They work so very hard to ensure that you have a good holiday and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately clean and even though it is considered a 'small' hotel, I thought it was spacious. The room we had was fab, with two balconies that proved to be a bonus. The pool was clean and there were plenty of loungers, which meant that we could have a lie in and still relax inthe sun. I like the location. It is a small mini bus ride from the town, which meant that the night time was peaceful and that is what we like on holiday. We could sit out and relax, chat and put the world to rights under the beautiful Greek sunset and night sky... perfect! I would definately go here again... and that is something that I don't normally do as I like to go to different places and see new things. However, this hotel is charming and we all have happy memories ... thanks to Thomas (the Manager) and his crew of hard working staff!!"

Lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful scenery
"Myself, my husband plus 2 friends stayed at the Nikolas Villas Hotel in September 09, the deal was a very reasonable All Inclusive one, we had read a couple of the reviews regarding the location so went with an open mind. We had a fantastic time! the hotel was immaculate, the rooms (we stayed in the old block) were really huge, the food was excellent (lots of variety and fresh fish and vegetables) and the staff were truely helpful (at any time of day!). We are all in our late 50's and we found the 20 mins walk to the main beach at Agia Pelagia really easy, it's a gentle climb down through some super scenery (olive groves, vineyards and coastal views) and we were quite happy to walk back up again to get some excercise (after eating all the delicious meals at the hotel), even though there is a hotel minibus that you can use if you want to. There are several beaches that can be found along the coastline and all around the same distance to reach, so you can vary your daily trips to the beach, but we found the main Agia Pelagia beach the best particularly for swimming, it was very clear and sheltered, and the beach itself was the sandiest! There are also lots of nice tavernas there where you can sit and have an ice cold beer or wine and look out to the lovely bay of Agia Pelagia. The wines and spirits at the hotel were local but were fine, the bar does stop serving AI drinks at 11.00pm, but you can buy after that if you want, the bar staff were very friendly and the bar area itself was nicely laid out with an little avenue of trees overlooking the swimming pool. The only one adverse comment we would like to make was that there was a machine in the dining area that served hot water for tea and coffee, and that was usually only luke warm, so hopefully that will be replaced soon! We would certainly go back and recommend the Nicolas Villas Hotel to anyone who wants a lovely quiet relaxing holiday in Crete! Our thanks to Thomas, the Manager who runs a very efficient and friendly hotel."

Great, friendly hotel and staff, real value for money
"We were unable to find out much about the hotel before arrival so were a little apprehensive, as it turned out any fears we had were completelty unfounded. The hotel is situated about a 25 minute walk from the nearest beach, but a free shuttle bus takes you there and back several times during the day,and again in the evening. The majority of the guests were French, who we found to be really polite and good fun,and we never had to fight for a lounger near to the pool, even though the hotel was full.Food was always nicely cooked, breakfast was somewhat limited in variety, but always something you could fill up on,the lunch and dinner menus were buffet style with plenty of variety and the dining area,as the rest of the hotel, was really clean and well kept. The all inclusive drinks were fine but only lasted until 11.pm,and the outside bar and seating area was a great place to relax. Staff were really helpful and good fun too,and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. This would not be a place for a young group of people to holiday.but if you like to relax I would recommend Nicolas Villas Hotel without hesitation."

Great Holiday Great Hotel
"Not being to find any British reviews we were a little concerned about what to expect when we arrived at the Nicolas Villas Hotel. We were pleasantly suprised! We arrived at 5am and were greeted and took to our apartment (we had booked a family room), and wow, it was great, had a kitchen, bathroom, and a separate bedroom with one of the most comfortablist double beds we have ever had when we have been abroad! We woke up to fabulous sunshine and went to breakfast, a good variety of english and european, and the warm bread was to die for! Lunch and dinner were exceptional too, for being all inclusive the food was great, there was little duplication, on our second week, we were expecting the same food again, but no. The pool was kept clean as the day went by it got warmer! The staff at the hotel were fantastic, Thomas the Manager, was great, he would do anything for you. It was my partners birthday while i was away and he helped me organise a party, including ordering the best cake i have ever had in my entire life! The staff worked tirelessly to keep the hotel immaculate, the bar staff, Nikolaos and Flora were great with the 'Raki'. Restaurant staff Yianis, Ana, and others were great too, they had our 'butter' ready for us at lunch and dinner ! Lee, the bus driver (among other things) took us to the beach and town on a regular basis and his banter is great, hope you like your hat Lee! We would like to thank all staff and our new found friends, French and British for making this one of the best holidays we have ever had! John, Cris and Katie, Newcastle. Room 205."

Nice 3 Star Hotel - shame about the location!!
"We booked these apartements online for quite cheap, all inclusive for a week! we couldn't really find much info on the place but the little we did find led us to believe it was close to the beach. Upon arriving at the hotel at 9:15pm, we were greeted by the manager on reception who was very friendly, he told us the dinner buffet is on until 9pm, we asked if there was anything we could eat as we had missed it by 15 mins, but he said that there was nothing he could offer us! Which was a bit dissapointing as the hotel is no where near any shops etc to get anything from!! FOOD The all inclusive is quite good, breakfast is served 7-9:30, lunch is 12:30-2:30 and dinner is 6:30-9:00pm. They tell you that there are snacks served at the pool bar from 11am-4pm, however you have to be quick for these as there are only a few trays of pizza brought out at 11am and when they are gone THEIR GONE - there are no more! we came back from the beach one day at 2pm and there was nothing so i asked the manager and he said they only bring it out at 11am and when thats gone, the next snack is cake from 4pm-6pm (which was ok - chocolate and sponge). The breakfast buffet is basic and we didn't enjoy it so only went down twice for it. it consists of a selection of juices, tea & coffee, scrambeld egg (which was full of peppers and such like), sausages (which were mini hotdogs), croissants, bread, ham & cheese, and foreign cereal that you cant eat becuase the milk is soooo awful!! Dinner buffet is good, lots of fresh salad, feta cheese, selection of all different cooked food from lamb chops to quiche etc, quite a big selection too! and ice cream and puddings. Dinner is the same quality as lunch, all different cooked food and desserts. only grumble with the lunch and dinner was lamb chops and fish were on every day, and the food was never really hot, just warm. ALL IN ALL - FOOD WAS PLEASANT ENOUGH FOR A WEEKS STAY. DRINKS the all inclusive drinks were the same as most holidays abroad, red and white wine, local beer (which my dad and husband both said tasted good!), local spirits and some cocktails. HOWEVER .... you must note that the all inclusive drinks are only served until 11pm after that they make you pay, which i thought was a bit of a rip off as the bar stays open till 12:30pm. The barmaid was a bit funny if my husband went to get a round in for the 4 of us and said you can only get one drink at a time and you had to have completely finished your drink first. LOCATION In the middle of no where to be perfectly honest, there is a petrol garage next to the hotel but that is all!! shops and beach are about a 40 min walk down a huge hill, which is a killer if you decide to walk back (which i advise against!!), however the hotel does put its own mini bus on to take you to the beach and pick you up, and there is a timetable at the reception, oh and its totally free which is a bonus! the bus driver told us that if they didn't put a bus on no one would come! The only downside to the bus is that if you go down around 10:30am we were ready to come back about 4pm, so we could shower etc before dinner, but the last bus is 1:15pm and the there isn't one until 6:45pm! which is a bit mental! HOTEL The hotel was spotless! really fresh and new (our part of the hotel which is the main part has only been open for 3 years). The pool was lovely, and there are plenty of loungers around the pool too, if all i wanted was a quiet hotel and wanted to stay by the pool all day this would be perfect! My mam and dad both complained that the beds were hard, but they didn't bother me or my husband. The hotel was 95% full of french people, which were no bother at all. I believe the hotel is in one of the french brochures but is currently only available online in the uk. RESORT Aghia Pelaghia is a nice resort if you make the effort to go into, the beach is long and narrow, sea is lovely and clean, and was very calm - perfect for swimming! the resort has a nice selection of shops and bars, but isn't a busy resort by any means. BEWARE - do not go to the beach on Sundays (and maybe avoid on Sat) it gets so so busy with the greeks with them not working! we made the mistake of going on a sunday (which the bus driver advised against) .. and we ended up leaving because it got so busy and the greeks would literally just put their towel anywhere and lie down, you couldn't get moved!!"
