An odd location but I like this hotel!
"This is the at least the third time that I have used this hotel and I have liked it on each occasion. I found the place because on one visit to the area there were no vacancies at the HI Express at the airport (which is also more expensive and a lower grade HI). It is located about a 20 min drive from the airport although this time it took a little longer since the Swiss seem to be digging up all the roads in the area. (The HI Thoiry also has a shuttle service to and from the airport but I have not tried it.) The hotel seems to get a lot of customers who are visiting/working at the nearby CERN research centre. The rooms are clean, comfortable and pleasant. The hotel has a bar and a good reasonbly-priced restaurant which is very important when the hotel location is considered. However, any goumets visiting the area might like to know that there is a very good Michelin-starred restaurant (Les Cepages) in the village of Thoiry which is about a 10 min drive away- but be aware that it keeps very French hours,as it is closed Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday! I found all the staff at this hotel to be pleasant and efficient."

Not really a Geneva Hotel
"We were directed to this hotel when we tried to book a night at the Crowne Plaza in Geneva - both InterContinental Hotels. There is no comparison between the two, but to be fair, the Holiday Inn was less than half the price. The free shuttle from Geneva airport takes between 20 - 30 minutes. We were only staying one night before taking a flight home and the hotel was adequate for this purpose - otherwise it seemed a long way from downtown Geneva. The hotel itself is okay but uninspiring. The restuarant offers a four course meal (or five if you want cheese) for a set price. The food was surprisingly good but you are not able to just order a smaller meal. The service was very slow - our waiter was also responsible for room service and we had to wait while he did his deliveries. We had the feeling that the restuarant was understaffed."

Great overnight hotel
"We stayed here for a night before flying home after a skiing holiday - booked it on the basis it was cheap and cheerful but was very surprised at how nice the rooms. We had 3 young children in tow and managed to get them in one family room - 2 on the sofa bed and had were provided with a travel cot. A bit of a squeeze but comfortable enough - you are only supossed to have 2 children in the room but we got away with it!
For convenience, we dicided to eat at the hotel and what a result! Fantastic food, child friendly and value for money.
The next morning, we headed for the airport which was only a short car drive away.
Will definitly use again as a stop over."

Liked the hotel
"We just came back from a 10 day journey in Switzerland. We spent 3 nights at the holiday inn Thoiry as we wanted to visit Geneva and the region. If you have a car I certainly suggest this hotel. It is only 4km from the bourders and 11km from the city of Geneva. The hotels in Geneva are rather expensive for what they offer so I think that we made the right choice. The room was large for a twin one, rather clean, and as it was to the back side of the hotel we had a wonderful view of the jura mountains. The breakfast was a typical holiday inn breakfast. But the most important is the mont blanc restaurant which serves food of high standards and is not expensive. At least it is not expensive it if you compare it with the swiss restaurants. There is not mini bar in the rooms but you can find a machine full of snacks and drinks to buy and an ice machine. There is an open free parking at the hotel.I would certainly stay to this hotel again"

As if in the United States
"We chose this hotel because we were on a little tour through the vallée de Joux in Switzerland to end up near by Geneva. Indee, it is located in some distance to the airport and to the city. Since we drove by car this was of no problem to us. The hotel looks like a solid little peace of Florida and so did the room and so was the overnight experience. We had a standard room, that was rather small but clean and bright. For a 4* hotel surprisingly it had neither a minibar nor a safe nor a water kettle. People on the hall-way and shutting the room doors was easily heard. So was the noise from neighbouring bath rooms. The staff were very friendly at reception, bar and restaurant. The breakfast items made a days old impression (except for rolls and bread). Overall I should say it was a genuine Holiday Inn experience as we had encountered in the United States."

Not exactly an airport hotel
"My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel the night before we were to fly back to the U.S. We booked through the Holiday-Inn website where it was listed as a Geneva Airport hotel. It is only considered this because of the shuttle that runs to the airport, and not because of its proximity to the airport. It is located approximately one-half hour from the airport by shuttle or taxi, and is located outside of what seemed to be a small but not very quaint French village. It is not within walking distance of any restaurants/stores, but does have a decent yet pricey restaurant located inside the hotel. The hotel did have very nice(standard Holiday Inn) rooms and the hotel itself was very modern(including an ice machine!). The front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the shuttle is convenient and free. We did have a nice mountain view out of our window. If I were to fly out of Geneva again I would book a hotel in the Geneva City centre and take the train to/from the airport, which is inexpensive, takes very little time, and is just one stop away."
