"We stayed at this hotel in July and were so disappointed by the lack of cleanliness in the bedrooms. The staff at reception were friendly and professional at check in, the breakfast buffet was good. But this was all let down by the dirty bedrooms. The corners were full of dust, the bathroom was grimy. All in all, an unpleasant experience. We completed a form when we checked out and we told the reception staff what we had written on the form. We even showed them photographs that we had taken. We thought we would have received an email from them after our departure, but nothing! No apology and no acknowledgement of the comments we left. We know this is only a three star hotel, but there is no excuse for dust and grime! Not a pleasant experience!"

Going Down the Slope
"I have been staying each may or april at the Splendid for years. We have a yearly company event in Annecy, and that's where we are booked. This is definitely a better choice than the Imperial. Much simpler, no attitude, location not as good but still very good and much, much more central, close to everything, whereas the Imperial is a 20 minute walk to anything. Value for money is good. It definitely is a 3-star hotel. This is its classification, deserved. Was better than currently is. Over the year the hotel is sloping down. Whereas it has been fully refurbished 7-10 years back, it desperately needs some paint work. Walls and ceiling are obviouly dirty. There is fabric on the walls, and ... well ... I though the curtains were grey, and upon inspection, that was not the color. I suspect that if one took them down, they would stand still with dirt. I checked this out with several colleagues, and they all reported this, as well as the let down feeling. I reported the matter to reception ; they seemed surprised. Bathroom is to 3 star standards. Double glazing makes it for the traffic outside. Noise rather comes from other rooms, especially bathrooms. I have always had the unpleasant feeling here that the toilet over me was being flushed right over me. The other upkeep is ok. Rooms are kept clean. Staff at reception is nice. Breakfast is OK, nothing to write home about."

"The Splendid is perfectly located in front facing the lake, just steps away from both the old and the new town. Our room, standard with bath, lake view, was small but meticulously well-maintained. The whole hotel had the appearance of being new and well-kept, all to a 4-star standard. Spacious bathroom. Staff was polite and helpful. Internet wifi in room worked very well. Breakfast was good value at 13.5 euros: a generous and varied continental buffet, plus extras like bacon and eggs included! The breakfast room itself is very pleasant, sundrenched and with a view of the park and lake, though it was still too cold to sit outside in April. We loved this hotel -- lots of bang for your buck -- and it helped to make our experience in Annecy even more enjoyable."

A Splendid Stay
"This hotel is a find in Annecy near everything. Next to the old quarter and across from the lake and park. The breakfast is served outside on the 1st floor overlooking the park and lake. While the town has lots of cafes their breakfast for 13 Euros is just great. We had the upgraded room which had a large marble bath and end room at a reasonable price. The scenery was beautiful and the old quarter was great to walk in the evening."

Top Hotel in Top Town
"Annecy and this hotel are both the TOP in our opinion. It was easy to locate on the lakefront. Opposite the hotel there were small boats moored, a swan lazing away the afternoon and a lovely, large park. We reserved a double room with park view and our room was excellent at 116e. The lobby staff were very professional if a little reserved - perhaps more used to business travellers rather than tourists. They spoke excellent English and provided us with a town map. We did not have breakfast there (13e) but saw the breakfast room, it was very attractive with colourful plants and a balcony overlooking the lake. Our room was nicely decorated, large, had opening windows and a lovely lake/park view. There was efficient air conditioning and a king size bed. The bathroom, off the wide entrance hall, was large, tastefully tiled and had a large vanity. The toiletries provided were very good and the hot water excellent. Thre was good TV channel choice with BBC and CNN. Just around the corner from the hotel there was a street of reasonably priced cafes/restaurants. We parked our car nearby in a secure, underground carpark - very modern, spiral design, naturally ventilated and lit. The carpark even had piped classical music! The hotel covered most of the cost of the parking. All the main attractions are within walking distance of the hotel along the beautiful canals and arcaded street. A delightful town and a very nice hotel."

What A Place
"What a wonderful place to stay! We have stayed in four stars that are not even worthy and hotel splendid was more than worthy. Value for money is superb, clean sleek modern functional rooms with thankfully no awful patterns. This is a hotel with good taste. Right in the centre of town but slightly away from the crowds breakfast on the veranda sure it overlooks the main road but you can see the lake and park. Only point was the tiolet next to the shower bit of a squeeze but hey accept it and realise that you've picked a great place to stay! The reception staff were helpful with a good sense of humour. It felt like a personal secret staying there. Though we shouldn't let it get out ..."

"We spent one night at the Splendid hotel, and were impressed with the professional and efficient service. The room was modern and clean, with a view over the gardens by the lake, and the hotel is extremely conveniently located. Cheap car parking is also available in a secure public car park. I would strongly recommend this hotel for anybody visiting Annecy."

"We spend three nights at the Hotel Splendid in Annecy during June 2004. Absolute winner from a location point of view. Our lake-facing room on the second floor was of reasonable size and the furniture and fittings was of reasonable standards. Rather reserved staff communicated well in english. Parking was available between 6.30pm and 9am in a nearby public parkade virtually included in the price of the room. Would stay there again without problems."

Great value, great hotel
"A fantastic hotel in a charming town. After our hotel in Paris...typical small with a shower you could not turn around in, the Hotel Splendid was a welcome change. LARGE rooms, beautiful bathroom and a courteous, service-oriented staff that bend over backward to make your stay truly memorable. And to top it all off, an amazing location - right on the lake, at the entrance to the old town, with its terrific shops and great weekly market. Will never forget looking at the view of the Alps from our room as it started to snow. Highly recommended."

"We spent a night here this summer and found the Splendid to be a great place to stay. we had arrived from NY into geneva and drove about 45 minutes to Annecy and the Splendid - it was early in the morning so we couldn't check in but they were kind enough to let us use a room to change and wash up before heading out to see the town. The rooms are well appointed with modern furnishings and everything was perfectly clean. The location was right in between the park/lake and the old town making everyting of interest very accessible. Breakfast is served in a nice room with a balcony overlooking the park and lake. I would defintely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Annecy"
