"Trust everything you are reading. My husband and I had a lovely stay and would definitely go back. Although a little out of the main area, the walk was of no concern at all and I am 5 months pregnant. It was good to be away from the hype. Gildas was a lovely host an extremely helpful."

Can't wait to come back! Perfect!
"This hotel is actually a beautiful french villa converted into a number of bedrooms. Each room has either a balcony or direct garden access. Breakfast is 10 euro extra each, but completely worth it, especially if the weather is nice enough to have in their garden! They serve fresh fruit, breads, cheese, yoghurts, homemade jams, coffee, hot chocolate. It's divine! Their garden is well kept with palm trees, olive trees, a hammock and lots of lovely plants. The owners are friendly and approachable for tourist information. The room was spotless and classic french villa style. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Cours Saleya, but it's a pleasant and safe walk through a residential area before you come to the Promenade des Anglais. We really enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be back."

Home from Home
"This isnât going to be a long review as it is not needed. Some reviewers comment on the location being slightly out of town, this may be true but the public transport is excellent and the fact that it is slightly out of the busy old town made it all the more welcoming to return to. Quite simply it is peaceful, spotlessly clean, and the hosts go out of their way to make you feel completely at home. We loved every minute and wouldnât hesitate to book again. One tip, as others have made, is to use public transport, we purchased a weekly bus ticket for 15 Euros each. Although we were only staying in Nice for 3 nights we certainly had our moneys worth, even travelling to Villefranche on the same ticket and also to Monaco for one Euro extra."

A beautiful hotel experience
"There is a reason why some hotels get consistently ranked as the most popular on Trip Advisor and this is no exception. From the moment we were greeted by our host, we knew we were staying somewhere special. The owner explained to me that they had bought the place 4 years ago where it was once a building full of empty flats. They have beautifully redecorated it and turned into a hotel. Each room has a wonderfully clean and modern bathroom with the bedroom size just perfect, each with a wonderful duvet and pillow. It is actually very romantic, even though I wasn't with a partner during my stay. What I loved the most about it was the balcony where first thing in the morning or after a long day exploring the region, I was able to kick back and read my book, basking in the glow of the morning or afternoon sun. Perfect! There is also no tv, which gives the place a sense of serenity and charm. The breakfast in the morning in the courtyard was special with beautifully presented fruits, assortments of breads and pastries, jams, and cheese and ham. There is also some locally produced cream in a delightful looking pot. As they say in French, c'est magnifique! If you like cats, there is also a lovely ginger cat that is very friendly and will keep you good company! The hotel is also extremely close to the airport so don't make the mistake of getting a cab from there as it will cost you 30 Euros for a 5 min journey (probably the most expensive cab fare I have ever had!). Best to get the 98, which cruises along the Promenade d'Anglais, or the 23, which stops at the bottom of Avenue Des 'Baumettes. As for location, yes it is a little out of the way, but hardly. The beach is a 2 min stroll and if anything, I wouldn't want to stay in the Old part of Nice as it just seems crowded with tourists and people everywhere. I found the hotel extremely quiet and very relaxing - perfect to come back to if you have been out and about during the day, especially after a long day's hiking in the foothills of Provence and Monaco as we had. The bus stop at the end of the road takes you into town and they come very frequently, and of course, it is only about a 15-20 minute stroll into town, which is well lit and rather safe, especially if you walk along the beach. If you love Art, then it is right next to the Musee Des Beaux Arts, which while it was closed when we where there, houses some fine Impressionist and post- Impressionist art, something of which the whole region is teeming with so I learnt! There is also a great restaurant at the Sheraton hotel which is just at the bottom of the hill which serves this fantastic squid filled with a special provencale stuffing. Yum! It also has a great garden to have a drink in too. So, in all, if you are looking for the average run of the mill, ultra convenient, 2-3 star hotel experience, then look elsewhere. If you want a special experience that will really make your trip, choose the Hotel Villa Les Cygnes. You will not regret it. I guarantee it."

A nice B&B
"We stayed in Villa les Cygnes during a wet week in early March 2009. It's quite nice but hardly a hotel. The location is a little removed from the town's main attractions. Our proprietor was friendly enough (why would a host be otherwise?) and helpful with local advice; he gave us good suggestions for trips etc (to escape the incessant rain!). Our "superior" ground floor room, adjacent to the hallway and reception desk, opened onto a mezzanine terrace which might have been nice in sunshine (though very close to the avenue and passing pedestrians). Full marks go to the superb modern twin-sink bathroom and the lovely breakfast with home-made jams etc. Alas we never got to breakfast in the little garden before we departed home (to nice sunshine in Dublin!). Les Cygnes was not bad value, but not as breath-takingly brilliant as other reviewers found it. Blame the rain, maybe!"

"Having read good reviews of this property before booking i had quite high expectations. we had booked a superior room and from the photos on tripadvisor i was expecting something quite nice. On arrival it wasnt just nice it was spectacular! Our room was fabulous with a little conservatory/sun room addendum to our room and big shuttered windows overlooking the garden complete with a beautiful flourishing orange tree. As everyone on TA has raved about the breakfast i was also very impressed. For â¬10 you get a wealth of food and lovely service from the owner Lydia and her husband. The only shortcoming i would have about this property is that it seemed to be slightly away from the action. We were there for the Carnivale and without taxis or buses available it was a good 30 mins walk back to the hotel. Not a total negative as we did get to walk around parts of the city we probably wouldnt see in a taxi. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely return!"

Good place to stay in Nice
"Villa les Cygnes is a practical place to stay in Nice. It is located about 10 minutes walk to shops and restaurants. We had one of the lower cost rooms and it was quiet and clean. The bathroom very modern and coffee and tea making facilities in the bedroom. The bed had a doona (which I always find hot) so I pulled the covering off and used that as a sheet. You could ask for a sheet - but we were there for only 1 day. We had hotel parking in the street - OK. The breakfast was very very good - perhaps the best we had in France. Fresh fruit and beautiful pastries and jams - we eat a lot at breakfast so we dont have to worry much about lunch. Breakfast was served either in the kitchen or outside in the courtyard area. There was little in the way of common areas - that didnt bother us because we were there for only 1 night."

Made our honeymoon more special!
"The is place is magical. You really feel like home. The owners are very sweet and attentive! The room is spacious, well decorated and very comfortable. The bathroom is really great - big and clean! The breakfast is also a very good experience on the backyard. Loved! I'll certainly stay there in another opportunity!"

"We had a great stay in this lovely hotel. The staff and rooms were very good and provided a great welcome. You do need to be prepared to walk at least 5 mins. to the Promomade and then a further 20 mins. to the old town. It was very easy to find with the instructions and map and also travelling to and from the airport were a breeze!! Will return in the future as the staff provided a lot of information with regards to the hiking in the area of Nice."

"We have just returned from 4 nights in Nice , our first visit to the city . Without doubt our visit was made special by the accommodation of Les Cignes and the hospitality of the hotel owners. The bedroom , room 6 , was spacious , very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate. The area was very quiet and we slept extremely well every evening . Although the hotel is located about 25 - 30 mins walk away from the old town we enjoyed our nightly stroll along the promenade and for those occasions when we were feeling a little lazier the bus service available 5 mins walk away was superb . Numbers 9 or 10 were very frequent into the central area of Nice . We would recommend visitors to Nice to travel by bus to all surrounding areas, certainly at this time of the year. Any bus journey costs 1 euro and in the short time that we were there we travelled to Monaco , Ez , St Paul de Vence and Villefranche Sur La Mer for under 20 euros for the 2 of us ."

amazing palce in Nice
"We stayed (7 persons) for 1 week in this charming villa and next time we would like to stay directly in the same place! Quite surronding. Sea just in 5 min distance, but 7 min when you come back :) (because of hill) Center is a bit farhter, some 30-40 min. Rooms and bathrooms very bright, clean and big enough! No TV. No fridge in the room, but you can ask and use a kitchen downstairs! Also you can ask for beach towels!!! Very kind and helpfull hosts!"
