Brilliant location, for the price
"This hotel is in a back street at one end of the lovely waterfront of La Rochelle. Its rooms are quite basic but are what is to be expected for the price and our rooms were very clean. The English speaking receptionist was very helpful upon our arrival and arranged the parking in the hotel car park for around nine euros for the night, if I remember correctly. We liked the hotel so much we have recommended it to other family members and friends.
Whilst out and about we visited one of the towers, which was really interesting and right at the top there are lovely panoramic views right over La Rochelle and over to Ile de Re. The climb to the top and the descent back down is only for the very mobile though.
We visited for a night on a Sunday in August and there was a lovely atmosphere in the town. The busy seafront was closed to cars and there were street entertainers everywhere. We went to the beach at Chatelaillon-Plage, a few miles drive away and had a great day on this lovely, wide beach, and had a lovely seafood platter at one of the beachside restaurants."

Super Central Location
"We booked this hotel after reading previous Tripadvisor reviews & we weren't dissapointed. The room was little shabby, but perfectly clean. The one plus with our 7yo was the massive flat screen tv!! This place is so central its amazing: none of the main attractions were more than a few minutes walk away.
One word of caution: if you are travelling by car make sure you reserve a place in the hotels car park. The streets surrounding the hotel are narrow & where there is space you pay by the hour."

Good choice, but check the room rates
"Stayed for 3 nights here. The hotel is in a good location and we were glad we chose it. I booked online and paid 105 Euros for a double room, so was rather dismayed when I arrived to find that rooms were 78 Euros (+ 1.5 Euro tax) if you book direct with hotel! It is very good value especially at this rate. I would definitely go back again.
The hotel is very clean throughout. Our room was light and nicely furnished albeit rather utilitarian. The service was good although we spent little time in the hotel. The breakfasts are very ordinary and you can do much better for less cost at any of the cafes a few steps away."

Simple and modern in the heart of la Rochelle
"Modern and very well-kept hotel in a small alley just beside the harbours. Rooms are functional but not more than that. Attentive, friendly and competent service from the staff."

Fantastic location and good value
"Super modern refurbishment in old buildng. Great value for money (especially if you book on line and get a discount on usual rates which were baout 66 euros for a single/double). Rooms a touch on the small side but a fantatstic location , just a few minutes stroll to the harbour and the next street forward has a great patisserie and a couple of fun bars if you are looking for a nightcap. A taxi from the airport cost about 15 euros."

great hotel for the money, superb location
"we stayed at the comfort hotel la rochelle for 4 nights in mid august 2006, we found the hotel to be very clean, daily maid service, complimentary toiletries ect, free internet in the lobby which was very useful, reception staff were very helpful too but what set this hotel apart was the location just 1 street from the main waterfront promenade and 100's of restaurants, cafes and shops all within a few minutes walk, we booked room only and glad we did because to eat out was much more varied, interesting and cheaper, on the down side however were 2 things 1st no tea making facilities in the room and 2nd at the weekend some kids were drinking outside in a little tree covered square and were a little loud at times, but having said that by the late hours they had usually moved on, so it wasnt too big a deal overall a great little hotel right in the heart of things we would return here again and can highly recommend"

Overall, not so bad
"This is a standard Comfort Hotel. Don't expect high standards of luxury and you won't be disappointed. But it served its purpose. Located close to the harbour and shopping centre, it was just what we needed. It had a car park, which was very useful given its location, and the room was, perhaps small, but hey, who wants to go to La Rochelle and spend all their time in the hotel?
Breakfast was above average for France and there was free Internet access from a PC in reception - which I found to be an unexpected bonus.
Some really good restaurants in town - try Andres Fish Restaurant near the harbour - fantastic fresh fish food. Mmmmm!!

Great Location... not so great room
"The hotel is in a great spot! Withing walking distance to just about everything. The room however... It was so dark and even with all the lights on it seemed depressing. The room was dirty too... I even found a condom wrapper in the top drawer. The staff was indifferent and the breakfast was pretty basic. It's a cheap hotel for the area but I would splurge a little for a room with lighting!"
