May 2011 with children and grandchildren
"We have been here more than once before and can't feel more comfortable and welcomed. We fell in love with the place the first time we visited and will keep going back (just booked again for later in the year :-) )
This time we were a little apprehensive because our daughter, partner and children were coming with us. Their first holiday as a family and first time to Cyprus so we weren't sure what they would think. We love the place but would they, would it be hard work with young children, would they think its not lively enough etc ?
We all had a great time, Andreas (who runs the bar/food and is there nearly all day every day) enjoyed having them around and made everyone welcome (as did all the other staff). The grandchildren were in the pool a lot and couldn't have had more fun.
We ate in the hotel several times including Andreas now legendary pork chops (I'd been telling our daughter and everyone else about these since our last visit and hoped they would like them), so good we had them again a few days later (so it looks like they are winners all round).
We had breakfasts cooked/cereal etc and all spot on (on way home our flight was cancelled and were put up in a 4 star hotel in another resort and their breakfasts were no where near as good !)
I could go on (and usually do) about all the bits of the hotel (look back to my last entry a rather long post) but I'm just going to say this - When we first went to the Livas hotel in Pernera we came away feeling like we were leaving family behind.. as we left this time our daughter had a few tears in her eyes over leaving them !
enjoy your holidays and be ready to book again !

One of the Family
"We have just returned from our second visit to the Livas Hotel this year and feel like we are one of the family.
Its already been mentioned about being a little basic (personally I don't think it is, its got TV's in the rooms, its got internet access, its got a pool, bar, food, snacks) and kept as clean as humanly possible.
I love to cook and did use the room to make several breakfasts (omelettes, poached eggs, toast, fry ups) and have even made stifado (a rich beef stew) with mash potato and veg - I'm pointing this out as a much earlier post suggests you would struggle to cater for yourself in there. I should mention its got a full size oven and fridge as well.
The staff are superb ! Compared to other hotels, other countries and even other lines of business (ie shops, railway, banks etc) I've never come across an establishment that is more friendly and well run ! Ignoring all the obvious, its the little things like opening the shop back up so a lady could get some nappies or Andreas keeping the bar open for you as you have just arrived. Everyone knowing your name, knowing what you like to eat/drink, that you like to talk or not etc
We have stayed in both room types (apartment and studio) and found them both to be spacious and well kitted out. No complaints but if you are a light sleeper and have early nights ask for rooms away from bar area (as you can hear music if too near, but its not that loud)
Things of special note - put your name down early for the BBQ night. That way Andreas can arrange it and get the food, Its not to be missed ! Andreas (who runs the bar and takes care of the food, no idea how he manages but he does) Fires the BBQ up at about 6:30pm and once the coals are ready puts giant skewers of pork and chicken over. While this is going on there is live singing and karaoke to entertain you. As the meat (souvla) is cooked other staff are preparing 20+ other dishes which are all brought to the tables inside for everyone to load up their plates. I could go on about the food and atmosphere but there is no substitute for being there and trying it !
One more little food gem I should mention, are the pork chops ! I'm not a big fan of pork (that we get here in the UK) but one night while deciding what to eat, Andreas recommneded the pork chops. So we went for them and what a surprise. For one thing they were about twice the size of the ones we get back home and the flavour was... Sorry dreaming about them again. The flavour was as good if not better than any steak I've had, so good in fact that we had them again the very next night. We also had them again 2 days later as our final meal of the holiday - Ask Andreas for the pork chops and tell him Steve sent you.
The location of the hotel is spot on for all the restaurants in Pernera, a few minutes walk from 2 beaches, its got its own shop (which is very well priced and stocks plenty) and is near to others. Car hire across the road, bike and buggy hire a bit further down, cash machines just up the road and even hair dressers about 100m away. We have stopped in several hotels (all in Pernera) over the years and this one is located very well and we will be going back (and back like many people do).
It isn't a 5 star luxury hotel with people throwing rose petals at your feet, you won't have a personal servant waiting at your beck and call and you aren't likely to be getting fois gras served by a waiter in a suit. There are places if you want that level of service, but you have to pay a lot more for them. If you want to feel like you've gone around to your mums house and you have been welcomed in with open arms, made your favourite home cooked lunch, watched some tv with your mates then this is your hotel !
The rooms have - TV, full sized oven (with grill), full size fridge, air con paid for on arrival if you want it, power sockets (that go off when you remove the key fob), selection of pans, chopping board, knives, egg cups, plates bowls etc.(they don't have a tea towel, dish cloth or a decent flat spatula, its a round draining spoon thing).
The hotel has - a decent (meticulously cleaned)pool (sit by the bar in the evening and you can watch it being done !), a bar which is well stocked with most beers, ciders, breezers etc, a kitchen which does decent breakfasts, lunch and dinners. Large TV which plays F1, football, sky news (its usually the most demanded thing thats available that they put on), pool tables (a little tatty to be honest but your not there on a tournament), a computer for internet access (a little pricey, but you can get free wi-fi at the barley mow across the road), safety deposit boxes, but most importantly the best, most friendly and helpful staff you will ever meet (and it appears to be very genuine)

most wonderful 2 weeks
"On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly staff, who spoke good english. we had a lovely full english breakfast, then relaxed for a while in our appartment which was spotlessly clean, it was a good size bedroom with double bed that could be separated to 2 single beds, living room had 2 large bed seattes which were very comfortable. TV with a selection of channels, one was showing films in english.Kitchen area was basic and very clean. Bathroom had shower and some rooms a bath as well. cleaning was carried out twice a week with bed sheets & towels changed. Cleaning ladies were very friendly. The pool was very clean and I observed this being cleaned and the water tested at least twice. the pool area was cleaned early in the morning by the cleaners & loungers were in good condition. bar & resturant facilities were excellent with a great BBQ on Friday nights, good selection of food, ood size portions and very nice. big screen TV satisfied the football lovers, tenis for those who have the energy. The appartments are situated just off the main road, leaving it peaceful but yet very close to the town, there are bars, resturants and loads of shops all open to late. The beach is very close. We loved this place, it is great for kids. Also if you have limited mobility or a wheelchair user these appartments on the ground floor would be suitable, I don't think a wheelchair would fit the lift. There is a shop attached to the appartments selling everything you could want and is opened until 11pm. what more can I say.. go and have a great break. "

"a Jack Russell was permanently tied up next to the Livas Hotel Apartments in Protaras without food, water or shelter.
Apparently it even fell down the bank it is tied next to, and managed to 'dig itself into the earth or it would have hung itself'. I asked some people from the hotel to go and take this dog it has probably been left there to die. The poor dog is suffering and won't live very long in this condition.
Nobody was interested, after 2 weeks I managed to find somebody from a shelter who went there.

"My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 1 week in June 2010- booked a last minute holiday from Olympic Holidays. It was allocation on arrival and were not sure what we would end up with. Well, let me tell you, this hotel is a hidden gem! It is immaculately clean and is a family run hotel giving it that extra warmth to it! The staff go out of their way to help you. Worth every penny! I would recommend this for any couple or family looking to have a break. It is located in a central area, a few minutes walk away from the beach and supermarket. There are also great car hire places local which are cheaper than booking online."

Very clean and very friendly
"Just returned from a week at the Livas Apartments and I must say that it was a very enjoyable week.
The livas are are family run apartments and it shows, all the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The one bedroom apartment that we were allocated (201) was absolutely lovely, it had a large sitting room/kitchen area, large bedroom and large bathroom with bath and shower. It also had a very large private roof terrace (not all apatments have these). The first thing we noticed was how spotlessley clean the whole place was, you could eat your dinner off the floor. The maids come 4 times per week and do a really good job.
Yes, as some earlier reviews point out some of the furnishings etc are getting a little dated but this is not the Ritz and you wont be paying Ritz prices either.
The food served at the bar is of a typical bar menu and is varied, tasty and good value for money. The barbecue night (friday) was excellent. Drinks at the bar are reasonable 2.5 euros for a pint.
The apartments are in a good location being just 2 mins from the beach and 1 min to pernera centre.
The only downside if there is one, is that there is nothing at the apartments for teenagers or young children. The main clientele at the apartments are middle to older aged people. This didnt bother us as we were looking for a nice relaxed quite holiday.
All in all we found the Livas excellent value for money, very very clean and very friendly. We would certainly use the Livas again"

An ideal location, very friendly Family run Hotel to spend a refreshing holiday
"The hotel is well conceived with a large, cosy reception lounge, the rooms are spacious with all facilities(comfortable beds, good cooking facilities, nice balcony etc...) the swimming pool is medium size but extremely clean with a nice surrounding area and plenty of sunbeds, the bar offers a good variety of drinks and the home cooked food is reasonably priced compared to the food offered in the many restaurants near by!
The atmosphere at the Livas is very friendly and relaxed, there is a small supermarket offering basic goods for daily needs, but the best is the pool bar where Andreas ,the barman, will make every effort to help you have a good time!
The Hotel is 5mns walk away from lovely quaint, sandy beaches.
So, to conclude, the Livas is not a luxury Hotel but in compensation you get a warm, friendly welcome and a very good location for a reasonable price!"

"Anyone wanting a quiet break then Livas is an excellent choice. Very friendly staff, very clean apartment and pool and bar area immaculate!! You are away from all the noise and only a short walk away into the main part of Pernera. Very near to the beach and excellent selection of restaurants nearby making this a perfect break. Fig tree bay an hours walk or 5 mins in a taxi (8 euro's one way ) definately worth visiting more than once!! Take your trainers as you can walk all along the bay area and take in all the sights.I will definately return to Livas and i have never been back to the same place twice and i am a regular traveller."

Best place to stay in cyprus
"We have stayed at the Livas Hotel twice a year for the past four years. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the hotel and swimming pool are clean and well kept, all for a great price. The bar and the food served there is excellent. Andreas (bar owner) and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Yianna (hotel manager) and her family, provide a hotel that has a happy and homely atmosphere, with lots of things to do. In an environment in which many familiar faces return time and again. We could not recommend a nicer place to stay in Penera. Its like visiting family."

"Went to cyprus for 2 wks and stayed at the Livas Apartments. The Apartments were good as gold, big rooms and were very clean. there is a shop next door that sells everything you will need and is quite cheap and that is open from 8am until late. the swimming pool is a good size as well to relax in the burning sun. The location is ideal for couples and families, if you want more action you can head into Protaras and that is only a 5 min cab ride or get the bus that takes about 15 mins for 1.50. Ayia Napa is a 15 min cab ride for 15 euros or the bus is 1.50 and takes about 40/45 mins."
