"Apartment spacious an upstairs and downstairs with 2 balconies, well kitted out for self catering needs. Fan downstairs and air conditioning in the bedroom - with the normal extra charge for this. Very convenient for the beach - 10 minute walk and 5 minutes for the town centre. Stavros helpful in all ways although initially he can be a bit off putting - but he is a nice gentleman once you get to speak to him."

"This was our first trip to Polis and Cyprus, and we were pleasantly surprised by the high standards of these apartments. We have travelled all over the world from 2 - 5 star apartments and hotels and all we can say is that these apartments were spotlessly clean, large, well equiped, and typically Greek! The Greek style is basic, but was clean and comfortable, and we were surprised to have a full grill, cooker and toaster for self catering. The gardens and pool area very kept to a high standard and nothing was too much trouble for Stavros the owner and his staff, especially the hardworking Suey and Vie. We are at a loss at the comments of sanfairyann, so can only imagine that she is used to staying in 'Fairy Land'. The comments regarding Stavros are not true from our experience and he was a lovely man. I would not hesitate to recommend these apartments/hotel to anyone. It was Easter time whilst we were there and the whole town of people we found to be very friendly and helpful. We certainly will be going there again. "This was our first time in cyprus and it was awful. i will highlight the wow factors first to be fair. The day trip to Egypt.. £524.00 for 2 adults. Worth every penny fabulous. Kourion the archeological site , we had to go there twice. The ampitheatre is stunning and if yyou stand in the middle you can hear your voice amplified. Kourion beach is lovely with the rough waves and salty breeze. Alas the apartment was dreadful. The towels were thin and raggy, we had blue towels with bleached blobs on. there was mould around the bath, condesation in the telephone handset. No fly screens so you had to keep the door shut at night. Security of the door was very poor and you could see daylight through the panels and the latch was only in its home by about an eighth of an inch. The rep said if you did not use the safety deposit boxes in reception your insurance was invalid. my husband has a large digital camera and that would not fit in the box. There was also an a la carte resturant and three bars mentioned in the brochure, alas no restaurant...or chef and only 2 bars and every night they played the same CD ABBA! The town of Polis was quite pleasant except for the big screens, if you do not like football, then you are Captive. There was one lovely restaurant in the centre and the food was as good as the fantastic service they gave on the 12 nights we ate in there. All in all I did not like my holiday."

"Stayed in October but only just got around to writing a review. From reading earlier reviews we expected good quality accommodation and friendly atmosphere but unfortunately found a dingy apartment and miserable proprietor, we found Stavros was only barely sociable even with his repeat visitors who clearly "sucked up to him" on day 3 we requested clean towels only to be told they wouldn't be changed until day 4 !! as in previous reviews limited hot water and the apartment was in desperate need of redecoration and refurbishment. Polis itself is very nice and peaceful with some lovely restaurants but unfortunately would not recommend the accommodation."

Apartments were ok

"You can't expect much with the apartments with what you pay for,i would say they are ok,not brilliant in any way in my opinion. The decorating was a bit nasty a lot of cracks in the walls, the apartment is on two floors with a down stairs balcony and an up stairs balcony, kitchen is has everything you need for a self catering holiday, living area was comfortable but don't waste your time flicking through the TV channels as there is not one English one,Bedroom was ok,beds were comfortable.Bathroom was not all that, the bath had a horrible smell to it and we only got hot water for bout an hour a day in the evening. The maid came every day and was very polite but did nothing apart from mop the floor,we had the same towels for 3 days, not being funny but that's just lazy of there trying to save money on washing them. The pool is average, colder than going in the sea.Don't know what the restaurant is like as we ate mainly down in pahos or coral bay."

"We had a lovely holiday the town of polis was brilliant plenty of restaurants/cafes/bars the people were so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartments were very well kept with a daily maid service, Stavros the owner was very helpful about the area as were all the staff.Iwould recommend the area but not paphos wich is fast becoming a costa del sol like town. The apartments are suited to families with older children. couples, and people generally who are looking for a peaceful holiday. plenty to do but no rowdy children or kids clubs. The area on the coast above Polis is picturesque with beautiful secluded beaches, Pomos is a lovely fishing village, our daughter is 16 and cousin 13 and they really enjoyed swimming in the pool and visiting other beaches.Pedalos and snorkling, browsing the souvenier shops and the paphos water park. A car is a must but in the months of July and august the heat makes driving any distance (sightseeing) pretty impossible."

Great Place to Stay

"Polis is a lovely small town, with plenty of restaurants, bars and touristy shops. The apartments are great, very spacious like all the previous reviewers have commented. I'm used to getting a tiny little room that you couldn't swing a cat in when booking a self catering apartment, whereas both the bedroom and the living aread/kitchen here were large and quite well designed. Also both upstairs and downstairs have balconies, which is good. Really can't fault the place at all, it was clean, quiet, safe, reaonably priced, good service - can't recommend it highly enough. If you needed anything at all, you just needed to speak to Stavros, and he would either arrange it, or let you know how to get it. All very friendly and helpful staff. The only minus would be about Polis itself, if you were travelling with older teenagers, there are no nightclubs, no major nightlife. At my age this wasn't a problem , and there were plenty of pubs and restaurants to keep us going. Loved it and would definitely return :)"

"A place like this gives you the feeling of hitting the bullseye. The location is between town and the beach. The rooms are simple in the good way and as clean as can be. If you're looking for a familiar atmosphere, you can sit out on the terrace and chat with other guests. We weren't and felt just fine about doing our own thing. The price per night was fair. The owner was friendly and businesslike; his personell is a little helpless without him, though. If you're looking to go to Cyprus away from the mainstream, this hotel is really a great option."

"Had a fantastic two weeks at Bouganvillea. Stavros and his staff are wonderful. The atmosphere is very relaxing and frienly. One of the most noticeable thing about the guest is that the vast majority (80%) had been there before!! Stavros told me this rises to 90% in October. My husband is not keen on goiong back to the same place twice, but he has already made enquiries about returning in September, unfortunately there are no vacancies. Polis itself is a lovely little town with many fabulous restaurants. The fish is amazing I didn't eat any meat for a whole fortnight and had a different dish every night. Even the fussiest eater would find something to his/her liking. The breakfasts at Bouganvillea are wonderful whether you have full English, Cyprus, Seasonal (a huge plate of fruit !) or continental all served with tea/coffee and toast for around £3. We hired a car for 4 days toward the end of our holiday and wished we had done it sooner, there is so much to see and some spectacular sceneary. Would recomend a 4x4 though as some of the terrain is pretty rough. One thing I wouldn't recommend though is changing a wheel at the top of the Trodos mountains in 40 degrees heat my deffinately not the highlight of hubbies holiday though a memorable experience !"
