Louis Ledra Beach
100 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"May 2006 was our second holiday to this hotel. We stayed all inclusive as a family with 2 young children and were even more impressed than last year. Fantastic food, very welcoming and helpful staff, 1st class entertainment team and perfect location. We would recommend this hotel to everyone."

"Stayed at ledra beach in may 2006. expecting better quality that our normal 3 star but in some ways was even worse. The reception is excellent but the reception doubles as a bar which is very strange and there is limited seating space. However the bar staff there were outstanding. The rooms are average size but could defenetly do with updating. Same with the en-suite which was very cramped and had poor quality fittings.
One of our major problems was that there was at least 2 weddings EVERY day. They used the reception/ bar as the lounge area and the whole wedding party ate in the same place at the same time as all the other hotel guests. This made it very tacky and some days there were as many as4 weddings in one day. However we only stayed for a week so in summer there may be more.
The food in the hotel was exceptional and there was ALWAYS plenty of choice cooked to a high standed. The restaurent staff were also outstanding and VERY efficent as dirty plates were never left on the table for more than a minuite.
There is a small beach outside the hotel but you cannnot swim in the sea as there are too many rocks. However the small beach belonging to the hotel next door looked ok.
If you are thinking of going to paphos (which is a beautiful place) i would say go to the constentino bros. hotel next door which was a lot better quality."

Fed up of Weddings
"The Ledra Beech Hotel in Paphos located on a tiny beech with rocky access to the sea. There are limited sun beds and chairs outside. The public areas inside have limite seating their availability becomes exaserbated by the influx of wedding which take over. A wedding is a special time but the hotel is taken over by as many as 9 (nine) in one day. The influx of wedding guests before and and after the wedding many from other hotels aggravates what is already a problem of space.
These wedding guests staying at poorer quality hotels come back to see their friends and avail themselves of the fascilities and the all inclusive bars and restraunts at NO extra cost to themselves. When highlighted to management turn a blind eye.
The rest of the hotel is cleam the staff are very friendly and helpfull. The bedrooms are typical hotel size and in need of a lick of paint but are very clean.
The hotel food is of exceptional quality considering the number of guests always plentifull and prepared toa good standard.
All in all a good holiday destination let dow by the emphasis on wedding and ignoring the wishes of other paying guests"

"We hve stayed at the Ledra on three occasions always because the food is fantastic and the staff are really lovely, but I think this is the last time we will stay there as the bathrooms are now in need of refurbishment. The taps and showers definitely need replacing - our bath tap was hanging off the wall. It was taken over by Iberostar and perhaps they do not want to spend any more money on the hotel. What a shame , as it is in a lovely postion and the food is yummy. There were also lots of English people getting married there - 10 in the two weeks we were there and this leads to larger groups of people staying."

"Got this holiday as a late deal, very cheap, took 3 children, 10, 11 and 12, all inclusive. Hotel clean and good standard. Rooms cleaned daily. Mixture of clientelle, either blue rinses, wedding parties or couples with very small babies, 99% English. Food very good, lots of variety and well cooked, (don't go into the restaurant before 8.30 pm due to small children screaming and banging on the table with cultery) drinks very good, not watered down, service also good, staff friendly and helpful. Can use tap water to clean teeth etc. Beach poor but acceptable, can't wade in water as too rocky.
Entertainment average if you like bingo every night (which you have to pay for £1 per ticket) The team does lots of stuff in the day if you want to join in. Pools clean although cold, good indoor pool. Can get beach towels from reception for deposit and they provide packed lunches for excersons which are a joke (don't bother). also need to pay £5 deposit for each cool bag. Phone calls from room very cheap to England!
Watch out for the time share reps, they are everywhere, even introduced by the Thomas Cook reps, great lines to say that you get prizes of wine or money for talking to them but then they don't deliver. Reps generally very poor, incorrect information given out.
Bus stops outside the hotel or can walk to Harbour and mosaics - good dayout. The old town is ok for the market but not much else. The jeep safari to the Troodos mountains is good fun but you will be shaken about, you need to totally cover yourself up to get into the monastary, (legs and arms - no shorts) and it gets very cold on top of the mountain so take extra clothes and good walking shoes. Aphrodite Waterpark great fun for all the family, don't wear a bikini - it will come off, walking distance from the hotel.
Paphos has over 30,000 ex brits in residence, very relaxed and safe atmosphere all round, no problem with walking round at night. All pounds are cypriot."

"I stayed at the Ledra beach from 2-9th May, we went with two friends. We had a fantastic week everything was perfect.
The hotel is amazing there is nothing i can say about the hotel that is bad! Everything was great.
The rooms were fine we didnt find them too small, we were in the main building on the 3rd floor with a lovely sea view, i could lie in bed and still see the sea.
All of the staff inc the receptionists seemed lovely every one worked very hard constantly cleaning. Our glasses were never empty the bar staff were very efficiant and after a few days even remembered what drinks we liked. We tried all the cocktails i esp liked the san fransisco!
The swimming pool was a little cold but i found it refreshing as the sun shone all day!
The food- i dont know where to begin-amazing. All piping hot and a tremendous choice everything you could imagine. Even pancakes for breakfast!
We will def be returning to the hotel i have even checked prices for next year. May is the best time to go i imagine in school hols it is very busy, there were hardly any kids there when we went only ones there were with wedding paries.
I would reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting a fab hol! ENJOY!"

Animation team were the best!
"Have just come back from the Ledra Beach hotel and thought it was lovely.
The rooms are basic but clean and tidy, bath rooms could do with some work though. The food is great - lots to choose from and well cooked. Food is also available all day for all inclusive guests so you can eat when you want to which is very handy. The bar staff are friendly and you don't have to wait long to be served - there are also waitresses keeping you topped up! Everybody who works at the hotel speaks excellent English, which always makes things easier.
The pool and beach area were well kept, although it was pretty busy there were plenty of sun loungers and seperate areas for adults and children.
The animation team were amazing (will, tony, deano, dali, leah and aga). They are so friendly and entertaining - they really were the best thing about the hotel. They got everybody who wanted to be involved in the activities up and spent plenty of time with the guests. They looked after all the guests - in and out of working hours. When we saw them out in bar street they made sure everyone was ok all night and made sure we could get back to the hotel safely. Their shows were fab.
The only thing i would say is that the other reviewers are right about the receptionists - they are nowhere near as friendly and helpful as the rest of the staff in the hotel. However, that by no means ruins the holiday and i would definitely recommend the hotel to others."

"My husband and I stayed at the Iberostar Ledra Beach for 7 nights from the 25th April 2006. I have to agree with the review from the 9th May in relation to the look of the hotel - great until you see the rooms! The rooms do need updating but it was clean, comfortable and big enough for the two of us. I also agree about the receptionists not being the friendlist of people!
The animation team really worked hard and were a credit to the hotel, as were the waiting staff in the main bar.
The food was fantastic, it was all buffet style and there was plenty of choice. It was all piping hot unlike other All Inclusive hotels we have been to.
There were plenty of sun loungers outside the pool area and the beach area but it wasn't full season and can imagine it may be a problem in July/August.
All in all I would stay at this hotel again if I got a reasonable deal."

First class entertainment
"First impressions of the hotel are great, then you see the bedrooms! The facilities are good, the food excellent and the entertainers are better than that. Dali, Dino and the gang made the holiday, taking their time each day to come and say hello and persaude you into the daily activities. We travelled with our 8 year old son and he had a ball. Would recommend this hotel to anyone providing the hotel upgrade the rooms and the hotel receptionists need to get personalities but apart from that great."

Wedding in paphos
"I went to this hotel with high hopes after reading some good reviews on this website and from the broucher from thomas cook. Unfortuantly me and my partner were both dissapointed from the start.
We were promised a room upgrade as we were getting married at the hotel during our stay. When we got to our room we discovered 3 single beds (there was only the two of us staying there) and when we opened the curtains all I saw was a brick wall from the hotel next to us and a car park. Not what id paid 2 grand for. When i told reception i wanted to move i was given dirty looks and told to wait. 15 mins later i was given a key to another room which was a bit better. Our next problem was all our bags were in the old room which was on the second floor and we were offered no help in moving them, so another 20 mins later we were finally in our room. By this time I was already in tears and wanting to go home.
Our room which had a much better view had a tv that switched itself off every 5 minutes. we told reception but nothing was done over our stay there. We asked for the porn channels to be turned off but 4 days later they were back on. There was no where to hang my wedding dress so it had to be laid across the floor. Our sun loungers on the patio were covered in so much bird crap it would have been unsafe to use them. Also our room was never cleaned before 4pm every day we were there. Again not what id expect from a 4 star hotel.
On the wedding day most things went well. The hotel decorated the balcony we had chosen brilliantly and as always at the hotel the food was excellent. Our wedding party, all 26 of us paid to go all inclusive for the day all loved it. Our only complaint on the day is the bar staff tried to rip off some of the group but our completly fantastic wedding co-ordinator, melanie clyde, went and sorted it out and got the money back from the drinks.
While we were there the cypriots were celebrating there easter so the hotel orgnised a fun day which included a barbeque. We were going to eat untill we saw the bbq set up next to the bins at the side of the hotel. My partner was also attacked by some of the locals as he walked back from the hotel my parents and wedding party were staying at.
Overall i found the hotel staff unfriendly, snobbish (especially the receptionists) and unapproachable. I wouldn't recomment this hotel to anyone!
The hotel my parents stayed at however (The Nereus)was friendly, helpfull and had bigger rooms than the one we were staying in., and it was only a 3 star hotel.
To finish on something positive. Our thomas cook wedding co-ordinaters, mel, lou and dawn were completly fantastic and extremely helpfull and i wouldnt hesitate in recommending thomas cook to organise any wedding. Quad biking is a must for the daring and a trip to ayia napa water park is well worth the journey.
Sorry its a critical right up but the hotel ruined our stay in paphos to the point that i definatley wont be going back to that part of the island or to any other ibrostar hotel."

"I'v been going to the Ledra Beach every year, for a long time, and it's amazing. Ignore the bad reviews, they are just boring [xxxx] with no personality and clearly have no idea what a good hotel is. The food is amazing, and the rooms great! Plenty of room! The pool area is amazing, and even though the germans seem to swan around like they own the place, it's still great! Good wedding venue, and drinks area and pool bar. About two meters from it's own private beach! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

Distinctly Poor.....7 reasons why not to visit this hotel
"1. enjoy the cosmopolitan feel of the restaurant.....there are loads of different football tops to spot at meal times
2. Brush up on your foreign language skills?......don't worry about learning Greek as all the staff are bulgarian.
3. save on sun cream.....the sun beds are so close together you won't need your own suncream. You can just rub in the splashes you receive from your neighbours.
4 it's a home from home .....don't worry about dressing for dinner as no one else does. The canteen self service restaurant makes you realise that your works canteen isn't that bad after all
5 make new friends easily......the pool is so small and over crowded you are bound to bump into someone ( literally)
6 improve your immune system.....the grubby sun beds probably harbour so many bacteria you can't fail to improve your immune system
7 you won't be bored... enjoy playing the new game of "spot the person WITHOUT the tatoo"
Seriously...if you want value for money...look elsewhere......like Turkey
