Our third trip to the Avanti Village !
"Returned from the Avanti Village at the end of May and only pressure of work has stopped me writing this report. As you can see we have visited before and would not return if we were not entirely satisfied
with the village. The rooms are spacious, airy, clean and simply furnished but everything always works very well. The maid service is very efficient and we have always found all the staff to be extremely
friendly and polite even if we do arrive in the middle of the night!
It is predominently meant for people to self cater and therefore we do not expect the other facilities to be as good as that of a hotel.
If hotel facilities are required, the Avanti Hotel is just a short walk away. The swimming pool at the Village is fantastic and there is plenty of space to sit round the pool. I would appreciate it if parents with young children kept them at the shallow end of the pool but that is not the fault of the village. There is a very nice bar at the bottom of the village near the main road.
The hotel provides a good selection of themed evening meals but should you want a change then the village is well placed near some very good restaurants.
All in all, I think the Avanti Village is an extremely good base for a wonderful holiday in Pafos and one could not ask for more. Y&N"

"we have just returned for the Avanti Village with our family. We had a wonderful holiday the accomodation is very high quality, spacious and spotlessley clean. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The public areas are very well kept and the lagoon pool is huge. Very relaxing to enojoy a cool drink at the swim up bar. It position is ideal for the beach the shops and the Harbour. We will definately be returning.

Good for families but not couples
"The Avanti Village is a fairly large apartment complex in Paphos, Cyprus. The complex includes a lounge/games area, supermarkey, pool bar and an indoor bar (although we never saw the indoor bar actually open). There is also a large swimming pool plus children's pool and a "taverna" which serves meals and snacks all day.
We arrived at about midnight and would have loved a cup of tea but it proved impossible to find any milk. The pool bar was still open so we were able to buy some mineral water but we were a bit disappointed that there wasn't so much as a vending machine for us to buy other basics.
The apartment itself stank of cigarette smoke when we went in. We did mention it to our holiday rep, who said that she would ask the maid to clean it again. Whether she did or not, we don't know, but the smell didn't go away. Of course, it's very difficult to eradicate tobacco smells but perhaps consideration could be given to having designated smoking apartments for those who wish to smoke.
Unsurprisingly, there were lots of families with children staying at the complex. Such families tended to dominate the pool with games, etc, making it difficult just to go for a swim up and down the pool, as we felt like we were interrupting their fun. They weren't behaving unreasonably but the focus was very much on families and, travelling as a couple, we felt a little "out of it".
The pool bar wasn't well patronised and teh indoor bar was, to the best of our knowledge, never open. This meant that it was difficult to meet and socialise with other guests and the complex generally seemed a little soulless.
All in all, it was OK but, as a couple, we'd be very unlikely to go back. It did, however, seem like a good place for families."

Ouir best family holiday
"My wife and I and our two girls aged 14 and 6 years have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Avanti Village. From the moment we arrived we were made extremely welcome and it was a joy to see the kids eyes light up when they saw what, is surely the biggest swimming pool, in Paphos.
The Village is ideally situated within walking distance of Paphos Harbour and the very high quality Four Star plus self catering accommodation allowed the kids to have plenty of space with full size beds. Our room was equally well appointed and everything was spotlessly clean with the maid service ensuring we enjoyed the luxury of staying in a hotel combined with the connivance and space of self catering.
The apartments are set out just like a traditional village with meandering paths surrounded by beautiful gardens. The beach is just a short walk away as are a variety of excellent restaurants. Having come away for a rest we decided not to take advantage of the excellent cooking facilities in the apartment but to start our days with a great value for money breakfast in the Taverna by the pool. We also had several superb four course evening meals in the restaurant of the nearby Avanti Hotel which were buffet style and even had a special section of kidâs food which went down particularly well with our youngest.
The facilities this hotel are first class and everything is immaculate. Our kids particularly enjoyed the huge swimming pool which features a gradual entrance like a beach and even has a lazy river. The kids club is excellent and meant we had some time to ourselves as the teenager was well occupied meeting new friends and getting involved in organised activities from archery to table tennis. For the bigger kids I can thoroughly recommend the daily water polo although I should warn you that it may become a little addictive!
The weather was great as was the evening entertainment with a Karaoke, quiz night and even a Parrot show. There were lots of youngsters staying at the Village and both our children soon became inseparable from their new found friends.
As with all things it is ultimately the people that make the difference and the staff at the Avanti Village are the best Iâve ever come across! We were so sad to come away and cannot wait for the next opportunity to visit the Avanti Village!"

Hated the Avanti Village
"We selected this from the Thomas Cook brochure, it was supposed to be 4* accomodation which we picked instead of 4* hotel to give us freedom to do our own thing and enjoy sitting in our balcony.
The balconies look right into each other and the accomodation is basic nothing like four star. The accomondation is all in blocks that are all jammed together there is no space. The apartments themselves are not worth the money, for example we did not have any hangers and only two glasses that looked like tooth paste glasses yet the accomodation was supposed to be for four. The bathroom was really badly finished. Have photographs which will add later. There is a very large pool and it would suit family with young children but please be aware and do not pay for it in the 4* price range.
The pool bar is also very basic with poor selection."

Nice place a few problems
"Just came back from avanti village, the resort is very nice good for going self catering, we went half board which you have to go to the other hotel for breaskfast and dinner, it does say on their website the hotel is next door, its not! its a bit of a walk either by road or an unlit dirt track which is quicker but not safe! and with small children not easy when they are hungry.
They also changed the start times for meals, breakfast from 630 changed till 8 and dinner was at 7 changed till 730.
The food was ok, there was no childrens buffet as stated until we complained.
Pool was lovely and the kids loved the lazy river
It also states on the website that paphos harbour is 15mins walk away, we walked it took an hour slow walk and a taxi took us 20mins.
We went here for a wedding they did an execellent job very organised, did every thing the bride wanted except put the whole partys rooms together.
The prices for drinks were quite expensive compared to the town but there is a shop just at the end of the road sells very cheap drinks."

"We have just returned for a 2 week stay at the Avanti Village in Paphos. The accomodation, although a bit dated in decoration was more than sufficient. The bedrooms were big, kitchen area more than adequate but bathrooms are a bit on the small side. Note that NO tea towels are available, apparently you are expected to bring your own !!! We managed with a hand towel.
Only real problem with accomodation was the fact that the bathroom is off the bedroom, not ideal with small children if they are asleep & you have to be in & out.
The pool area is fantastic, cold in October but we braved it anyway ! Our little girl loved the lazy river. The pool bar is expensive so we tended to buy our refreshments from the supermarket which is about 30 seconds further away.
The hotel next door is a short walk of about 4/5 mins & as others have already stated you can eat there for breakfast & no-one asks you for any details etc...
Paphos itself is lovely although a bit pricey, wine seems to be very expensive about £12-£20 on average. Most restaurants do set menus for about £8 Cypriot Pounds but beware, on the 2 occassions we had these the bills were wrong so double check, they charged us for the set meals & also for deserts separatly.
We went to the Rib Shack, very nice, Napoleon Restaurant lovely too. Very dispappointed with the Nature Restaurant, ate there twice, first time lovely, 2nd time horrendous service but food still nice. Porto Bello worth a try heading into the harbour & New Delhi Indian Restaurant was superb.
On the whole it was a great base to explore Paphos & I would go back again."

"arrived back from Avanti Village 3/9/06 after a 14 night stay i thought the rooms very nice clean and spaceous hurt my ankle could hardly walk swam in the pool with my mobile tucked in my tankini top what an idiot dead an buried that is., i agree odd occation no towells. Pool area excellent, we sat by the showers so everytime someone cooled down so did we with the very acceptable lovely spray that always cascaded over us!! Lunch time dinning by the pool, menu just a bit boring really, the fiesta at night was a more acceptable meal even though some nights it was hit and miss if you got the same thing twice there would be some variation to it. Ugh, the bread is horrible looked more like madira cake we stuck to french stick in the end that was more like "normal bread" Also agree about the pool table my daughter and her boyfriend kept asking for the balls only to be told they kept getting stolen??? then they would apear so who knows, they lost money in the computer and they where told they couldn't have it back. Lovely chinese resturant (upstairs by the rib shack opposite Avanti hotel) very nice defo recommend it. rib shack was not bad either. Beach well what can i say..........a bus ride away!!!!! not good as we like a beach. Brochure said pebble beach ok thats fine but hey where was that??? it is a load of craggie rock couldn't have a decent walk (before i hurt my ankle) Watch out for the people trying to give you scatch cards of some sort they are everywhere!!!!!!!! pain in the backside you are stopped every couple of minutes by people on foot, in cars, or on mopeds. eating out IS very expensive cost us a fortune (4 adults)!!!! cause who wants to cook all the time you are away, no-one. Self catering is not for us, back to all inclusive im afraid, in fact we have booked to go to Brazil next year so i am really looking forward to that don't usually book so soon but what the hell. just me an hubby going aaaarrrrr blissful peace"

ok, but I wouldn't go again
"We stayed there in the last 2 weeks of August 2006.
Although it was the peak time - it wasn't too busy.
The complex (which is really an annex of the Avanti Hotel - about 5 minutes away) is fine. It's got a great pool - although a bit shallow & loads of beds - the rooms are ok (although each room looks into another) and there are plenty of bars & places to eat nearby.
It's just a bit dull. Things aren't finished, the staff are uninspiring and the entertainment is poor.
When we visited, the Avanti Hotel next door, makes no check on who has breakfast. We were willing to pay - but they don't have the facilites or inclanation to take money... so you can eat there for free... have a free breakfast everyday!
I think this complex is ideal for younger families with children aged from 3 - 7, who love being by a pool every day...and can keep themselves amused and aren't bothered about entertainment at night...."

Nice room, shame about the staff
"We stayed at Avanti Village in Aug 06. We loved the resort, plenty of bars and restaurants. The rooms were spacious, and the pool area nice. However, some of the rooms are a considerable distance from the pool area. We had a long walk with our cases when we arrived, without any clear direction of where we were going. We arrived in the afternoon and had to snake through sunbathers and sunbeds with our cases. A bit of a drag when you have been travelling all day!! Also, some of the staff were extremely unhelpful. The maid service was also a bit of a lottery. On three days we returned to our apartment and there were no towels. After complaining to reception, they were unhelpful and disinterested, and we had to keep pestering for towels, and then wait for up to 2 hours for them to be brought to us. We couldnt get a shower until 8pm. Also, the pool bar staff were a bit slow and the bar was grossly understocked. They had no ice creams in stock or ice lollies and the slush wasnt ready until about 12.30pm. Very frustrating when you're hot!! However, in the Taverna, the staff were great, (especially Ling). Also, the pool tables weren't working most of the time, but there was no notice saying they were out of order. They took your money, but reception staff refused to refund the money, or put a notice on the pool tables. Generally, we had a good holiday, but the attitude of the staff left a bit of a bad taste. Would go to the resort again, but would choose a different hotel."

"Have just returned from this lovely place. We were there for a week this was our first time in Cyprus. Georgios you should be over the moon with your dedicated staff from the reception staff. Vaya and the girls and At breakfast Nana and the staff. And over at the Avanti Hotel for our evening meal Renata and all the staff who gave us a great welcome each evening. Then we enjoyed a drink at the captain hook bar what a lovely bar man. We will definitely be back later in the year and look forward to seeing you all again. Thanks again from Jean and Andy Thorburn. I didn't want to leave!
"I have recently returned to chilly Scotland after spending two glorious weeks in Paphos. There are not enough good words, either in Greek or English, to describe how delighted I was with the service my friends and I received. Our apartment was clean, spacious and well-appointed. We arrived late in the evening, and were greeted by the charming, bubbly Katarina. Our breakfast servers, Elizaveta, Diana and Chris (and the ones whose names I didn't remember) were courteous, friendly and professional. The hotel dinner staff, including Renata, Anna, Radmila, Ina and Dimitris, were absolutely fabulous. The smiling faces all around displayed why so many of the guests return year after year. It looked like the staff knew everyone from previous visits! The bar crew were just as wonderful -- Tasos, Stan and the rest made us feel welcome every evening. Kudos also to Kikis, Zoe, Vayia, Nicolas, Agatha and the efficient housekeeping ladies. I have to make special mention of Aj, Dani and Jenn. These young people were superlative in their entertaining agenda, even going so far as to put on a private performance for my friends and me as we were leaving before their dance show was to be held. I felt spoiled and relaxed the whole two weeks, and was very reluctant to board the plane to return home. The weather was beautiful, the town was quaint and clean, the properties were pristine and well-kept, and the staff at Avanti are to be commended on a job fabulously done. I'll be back! "
