"Me and hubby just spent a week here and the special offer on an all inclusive upgrade swung it for us which proved to be excellent value. The hotel itself is beautifull, immaculately clean and well decorated. Reception and bar staff were pleasant and very helpful although the service around the pool and in the ballroom for the evening was a little slow although I expect during high season this could be different. Our room was modern and clean, safety deposit box charge was reasonable, the key for the room fridge was available from reception which meant at least you could put your own drinks in, minibar was extra but we had no need with us being all inclusive. Pool towels available at no charge, changeable twice a week. The maid had cleaned our room well before lunch so we could enjoy an afternoon siesta as it was quite hot most days. Pool area lovely although the sunbeds were limited, most were situated on various grassed areas nearby but easily accessible for a quick dip. Beach non existant, mostly rocky outcrops but we were told this when we booked. We had no complaints about the food, always something we could fancy although the Taverna was due to open on the Thursday for the season it didn't which was disappointing. The Friday night 'Gala' dinner was no differnt to any other night, we were expecting more. Daytime entertainment around the pool was very low key and mainly aimed at the more 'mature' guests we felt, although we did quite look forward to the daily quiz! The evening entertainment was quite dull and didn't really live up to what we were expecting from a Thompson Gold hotel, we were led to believe this was supposed to be top notch. Location wise this hotel is a little out of things, there is nowhere to walk to in an evening although Paphos is a short bus ride away for 1 euro. We ventured into town but there is not much to see, the usual eateries and shops. We think hiring a car would give you more flexibility to explore the island. All in all a lovely hotel, excellent surrounding and brilliant staff but not lively enough for us."

Could have been better
"We spent an all inclusive week at the hotel at the beginning of April. The hotel has some good points but there were some issues. Our room was supposed to be a Superior Double with Sea View, it was as stated except it was a side sea view, in fact is was full pool view. The room was kept very clean by the maid, towels although some very warn were clean and changed daily, bed linen and pillows very clean. The beds seemed very new but they were also very hard. Tea and coffee making facilities supplied and topped up as needed. The safe and fridge was an extra charge. Slippers and robes also supplied. The room was on the ground floor with balcony, but it was impossible to enjoy the balcony in the day due to sunbeds directly underneath it with smokers on them, at night it was not enjoyable as there is a strict policy of all inclusive customer not able to take drinks back to their rooms. We were woken early every morning when the fountains were switched on and when early risers put their towels on the sun beds, there they stayed all day. Smoking was a problem as there was no designated areas and this meant either stopping inside or inhaling other smoke. Food was plentiful although slightly boring at times, all buffet. Salads were fresh, hot dishes always hot and a daily roast. Chips with everything, only once did mash potatoes appear and once for roast potatoes but this were mixed with onions. Bread was nice and freshly baked if only people would use the towels to hold it when slicing it instead of their hands. Meat was cheap cuts and often greasy, but the puddings were to die for. House wine was cheap and bitter. Bar staff excellent and helpful. Entertainment was awful and we really felt for the young dancers who were trying their best, but they often ended up in a mess. The nearby beach was nothing more than a strip of shingle and very rocky. The hotel is out of the way and there is nowhere to walk safely. Buses run every twenty minutes outside the hotel, both to Paphos and Coral Bay, only two euros for day ticket. Trips are expensive but it is worth seeing North Cyprus on a trip. The pool area was sealed why we were there and the chemical smell pervade our room and the whole of the hotel, it lasted three days. The hotel was full of elderly Brits and the entertainment seemed to be provided mostly for them. We were disappointed with some aspects of this holiday which is sold by Thomson as a Gold hotel. We would not go there again."

Sunny, Stuffed and treated like Royalty
"From the moment we got to the hotel and were greeted with a glass of champagne we were made to feel really special. The food was awesome, with continental or fry up or fruit etc for breakfast, lunch was superb grilled meat or any other light refreshing dishes from the buffet and dinner was a multitude of tasty dishes to choose from. The staff were friendly, and exceptional in most cases. When relaxing by the pool, they would bring you drinks and melon to refresh you, bending over backwards to help. Great holiday in a great location. Two things didn't make it a ten grade however- the entertainmant was by Thomson (not the hotels fault) and was Butlinesque, somewehat ruining a great atmosphere. But this was overcome by sitting a bit further away where the tables were nicer anyway. The other thing was that we were not told that at dinner, you are supposed to go to the main door of the restaurant and wait to be greeted and seated. For the first two days we just walked outside and sat at an empty table, probably getting evil looks from other guests and eventually a jovial shouting at from the staff. Otherwise would recommend it to anyone, great stuff. Oh- one more thing. Go all inclusive otherwise you'll pay through the nose for drink and snacks.."

"I have just arrived back from Atlantica Golden Beach Hotel near Pathos. It was a very good hotel. My room had side view of sea and you heard traffic from main road. Staff very nice and friendly.Your table was cleared right away. The food was excellent. Entertainment was not bad. The comedian was telling old jokes. The Violinist was very good and funny. Was not keen on opera. It was very hot when we were there. People were up and sitting on sunloungers at 6.30am. We never had a problem in other hotels. We always managed to find a sunbed around the pool around 7.30am. I came down and the beds were all taken. If there was towels on the beds before 8am and no-one there, staff removed the towels. There are loads of seats on grass which are still available up to 10am before they are full. Staff come round getting you what you want to drink. We were half board but upgraded to All Inclusive for just under $20 each per day. We asked for packed lunch when we went to Nicosia on a trip. We were given a cool box half full with sandwiches, apples, tomatoes, cake, crisps, water and orange juice. You are given a bottle of water on the way to airport. We were first off bus but first on when we were returning home which took 1 hour to collect people. The hotel beach could do with a tidy up. Too many boulders and stones. Need to get stones removed and add more sand. you need water shoes. Coral Bay is not very big beach. It is $1 each way for bus journey. You get number 610, 615, 10, 15 from hotel to Coral bay or Paphos or go straight onto market on number 10/610. If you go to the waterpark stay on the 615/15. If you still have Cypriot pound, you can change any old currency at a shoe shop in Paphos. Get off bus at Debenhams at harbour in Paphos and go back towards carpark make your way down towards harbour. There is a tree with a sign on it saying changing old currency. This hotel is Adults only but were only 1 or 2 there. Thomsons Gold are adults only but there are people from other countries. I am sure you will enjoy this hotel."

"We arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a glass of champagne. It was passed evening meal time but we were informed that a buffet meal was available to anyone who was hungry.A quick inspection of our room showed the attention to detail included a bottle of complimentary champagne, a rose and chocolates.Into the shower then to the dining room for the late meal.We returned to our room after our first full day to find a happy honeymoon message and ballons on our door, a nice touch i thought. As the week progressed it became obvious that the staff were all very attentive, (and happy) the food was varied and of good quality and the entertainment team was as good as hotel entertainment goes. Michael on the desk was always helpful and Victor in the restaraunt was friendly and funny. We made some new friends and would love to go to another Thompson Gold Hotel"

Good, Bad & (The Ugly)
"My wife and I have just returned from a week all inclusive at the resort May 2010. We are middle 30's no kids. RECEPTION and staff on the whole excellent, a couple of 'mardy cows' as my wife puts it, but generally staff were helpful and polite. RESTAURANT - Georgio a real character - very good food, lots of choices, very good quality for breakfast, dinner and tea. FACILITIES - again no major issue, TV hardly got a reception all week, but you don't go on holiday to watch TV. ENTERTAINMENT - The main acts that came on a 10pm were generally very good, comedians and magic shows.. The resident duo 'Break In The Middle' to be fair were pretty poor, you get them most nights from 8.30 till 9.15 and then after the main act from 11 - 11.30 ish. Most songs sound the same sound, and end up driving most people out of the bar. There were more people dancing when they put music on. REPS - Were reps, quite annoying and jolly... but then that is again their job. They were loud around the pool area during the day... But if you like the games etc then you are fine. POOL - Nice to relax and have a swim, jacuzzi by the poll is pool cold... so no one went in there. BEACH - Not very large at all, mostly pebbles. BEST BIT - for a sunbathing holiday go down by the other restaurant right by the beach area, very quiet down there. OVERALL - Not many kids but other holiday companies do put kids in the hotel. Hotel is a liitel away from a walkable distance of the town so you need either a car or bus that do go frequently. Very Nice holiday, nice people and good food. IF I WENT AGAIN - Def go all inclusive as drinks can be expensive if not, well worth the money. Steve Maitland"

"This is an excellent hotel, recently refurbished. We had a superior room which was lovely except for the bathroom which was very small. Everywhere was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of sunbeds but the parasols on the sunbeds down by the beach need some attention. My only real criticsm of the hotel is the evening entertainment. There was one professional dance show which was excellent, the rest was rubbish. There were very few people in the entertainment room which was hardly surprising. Evening entertainment is needed in this hotel as there is nothing to walk to outside. I would just like to say congratulations to Thomsons for the excellent service they provided when there were problems with getting home after the vulcano. We had 3 days where we were able to keep our room and were provided with full board. I already have another holiday book with Thomsons and will certainly go with them again. Well done. "

Not the best place for a honeymoon!
"Me and my new wife booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and considering it was gold rated and cost over £2,000 all inclusive for a week we would have expected much more. Even though we were told by Thomson this was an adults only hotel the pool was constantly overrun by children who's parents had booked directly with the hotel. Also the fact there was a crying baby in the room next door certainly didn't add credibility to Thomsons claims. The reps did not seem to care about the problem at all and when we tried to speak to the hotel they said it was not their problem and wouldn't send a manager to talk to us. In the end my wife had a blazing row in the middle of the foyer with the pool manager and the receptionist who were just rude and didn't care at all. Many others also complained about the children to both the hotel and Thomson and seemed to get the same response. The only plus side about the hotel was the food which was excellent, but perhaps not worth the extra cost of going all inclusive. Overall a very dissapointing hotel and the staff have put me off going back to Cyprus again in the future!"
