THE DREAM HOLIDAY
"On September 2012, our family spent a week in Larnaca, Cyprus looking for a relaxing holiday. Larnaca is an amazing place; clean and beautiful. The people are very helpful and friendly, very kind and polite. Our stay at Sun Hall apartments (which is connected to Sun Hall Hotel) was very pleasant. We had a two bedroom apartment with a gorgeous view of the Meditteranean Sea. The rooms were clean with airconditioning and a tidy kitchen. The staff of the hotel (notably the receptionists) were very helpful and hospitable as they provided everything for us. The towels were changed daily and the rubbish was taken out as well. We were booked in to stay 8 nights, but due to unforseen circumstances, arrived 2 days later; we were not even charged for those two nights. The beaches are clean and maintained on a daily basis, there are bars, showers and toilets on the beach and the sea is wonderfully warm, crystal clear and is ideal for kids as the first 200 metres are shallow. With a wonderful Promenade packed with lots of restaraunts offering wonderful dining and high quality service, we reccommend Larnaca as a dream destination for anyone. "

IT IS NOT 4 STARS
"We arrived on may 15 2009, a school class with parents. Many rooms were dirty, someone was locked in her room, in many rooms air conditioner did not work. Three times asked to fix the air conditioner in my room with no luck. Food was the same every day, nothing local in menu except haloumi. Employees tried hard, polite and gentle, but man in charge was impolite. On weekend there were some weddings and we were packed in a small area with old tables and chairs to eat, as we did not pay enough. Four star hotel??? No way! "

"we arrived and was told that half of our group did not have a apartment so they were put into hotel rooms to then be told by unfriendly staff that they would be moved to apartments. The aparments were clean and nice but we got stuck in a lift which had no light.. when we rang the alarm it did not work and so we were rescued by passers by...when we complained to hotel staff we were told that the alarms on the apartment lifts do not register to the reception and we must take the other lifts... after that we decided to take the stairs but there were no lights and no matter how many times we complained the lights were not fixed... the people in the apartment nxt door had alot of smoke coming from there room when we rang the fire alarm it did not work so we rang down to reception and they told us they would ring to see if it was a fire not one member of staff came to check if everything was ok... the one day we decided to eat at the buffet my friend found a piece of glass in her food and did not get as much as a apology."

Where shall I start? Unfriendly staff, ...
"Where shall I start? Unfriendly staff, filthy apartments - ours looked as though it hadn't been occupied for months. The kitchen was cockroach ridden and the veranda couldn't be used as it was no winder than me and my 6 year old daughter, and housed three air-conditioning units on it which made it well over 100 C degrees - so hot in fact the thermometer on one of the walls was broken! The only good thing about the apartment was it did have air con, and the friendly waitress who worked on the poolside bar - she couldn't do enough to help you. Shame the rest of the staff weren't more like her. In fact, because we were staying in the apartments rather than the hotel, we were made to feel like second-class citizens by the reception staff. Final word -PLEASE don't go the the Sun Hall !!!"

Horrible - DO NOT STAY HERE!
"We were given a room that had no toilet seat, a blocked kitchen sink and the bedroom lights were not working. The smell of the room was horrible as the balcony was full of bird droppings. It was as if the area had not been cleaned for months. We continuously complained to the reception assistants who did absolutely nothing. The toilet seat was only changed after my husband continuously complained over a 24 our period. In that time we were using the main reception toilet. I wanted to come back to London as this was not how I wanted my holiday to be. I was very upset and I would have rather been at home than be treated so badly. The television was not working and was never fixed or replaced despite all of our complaints. I was very worried about the security of the resort as there was minimal lighting on the stairways at night. The lift never worked throughout our holiday. The main doors to the apartments were always open with no security guard in sight. I have travelled and stayed in many 4 star hotels in the world, but I have never seen a swimming pool in such poor condition as the one at Sun Hall. I was so worried about the people who were actually swimming as the surround was slippery as there were algae growing at the bottom of the pool. The staff were always so unhelpful. They would simply say that the maintenance people were out to lunch or were busy elsewhere and could not help with our complaint at present. AGENTS...STOP SELLING THIS HOTEL! IT IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF AND IS NOT 4 STAR!!!"

Best thing about this hotel is the door out of it!!!!
"I recently stayed at this hotel with some collegues. We are all travel agents and I can honestly say that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! The view was beautiful as I had a room facing the marina, but apart from that there was nothing else nice about it, the staff were rude and very unhelpful the pool space was tiny, the hotel could have been doing with a revamp. I know that if any of my clients ask to go there then I will tell them honestly what I think. There is no way that this is a 4 star hotel I would give it a 2 star rating at a push."

Great Location: no other positives.
"This is without doubt one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. I was unfortunate enough to stay for c.9 weeks whilst on business in Cyprus, and although the location is excellent, there is little else positive to be said. In that period I had several rooms, and none were any better than any others. The photos given of the hotel if you follow the link from the top of the page are at best imaginitive, the one of the pool is close to a visual lie. It is hard to recognise the reality of the shabby hotel from the glossy photos given. The easiest way to sum it up is to list the negative experiences: The hotel is shabby, and in many places actually dirty. There did not appear to be a working gym despite it being listed on the facilities. There were windows missing from fire doors and lights out on the staircase for the entire period I was there. The room fittings are poor, dirty and undermaintained. The bathrooms are dirty & damaged and the toilet seats yellowed from age / lack of cleaning. There appears to be no sound-proofing from either the road noise, the noise from any other room in proximity, or from the well-used function suites. There is no internet access / wi-fi, and the very public one pc for pay internet access in the foyer is an absolute rip-off. Each room has an adjoining door to the next room. This serves to lower the sound-proofing even further, and allows you to enjoy every conversation, phone call, nocturnal activity, cough - and cigarette taking place in the next room. Worse still, one night at about 4am, the man from the next room managed to unlock the adjoining door and walk into my room.... There are many other hotels in Larnaca. Stay at one of them. I could go on listing problems with this hotel ad infinitem."

A BAD EXPERIENCE
"I'm glad I've discovered Tripadvisor, if only I knew about it two years ago before staying at the Sun Hall Hotel. I see the conditions at this hotel have not improved. My experience then was that the room was dirty, the bathroom disgusting, the toilet seat was yellow from lack of cleaning. We asked for a better room but the second was just as bad. The food was horrible and unrecognisable, for example chicken didn't taste like chicken, etc, and they used a lot of weird sauces, it was inedible. The staff pretended to not know what we were complaining about telling us their restaurant was highly thought of. The chairs in the dining room were all urine stained, I'm not kidding - that was because there were always large groups of elderly Saga holidaymakers aged between 75 - 90 who were entertained by a Cypriot woman who was patronising and condescending to them. The restaurant was however very busy with receptions or functions and these seemed to be well catered for but holidaymakers were given very poor quality, second rate food and service. Due to the functions there was live music quite often and this was very nice. The location was excellent. The reception staff were almost hostile let alone unfriendly. A very bad experience as hotels go."

"We stayed at the Sun Hall for New Year as a surprise for my mums 50th birthday. When we arrived I found the man in reception very rude, we had endured 15 hours of travelling and deserved more respect! The hotel itself is clean although very dated and although it was too cold to use the pool it is as small as my bath tub and I doubt it would fit many people in it! The food was great, plenty of choice and enough to fill us up each morning. The staff were excellent, very friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was 504 on the corner and it was massive. Plenty of space for us although it could do with a makeover. Air con and heating in every room that certainly helped in the cold nights. Larnaca itself is very upmarket, lots of designer shops although I have to agree that there is nothing for children at all in this resort or indeed in the hotel. It was a very long week trying to amuse 3 children in a place where there is nothing for them at all. I would be happy to go back to the sun hall but only in summer and without any children. New Year in Larnaca is something to be seen. There was a festival and fireworks and it was the best night of our holiday, there was even free beer and wine in the square. Beware though because the square is next to the hotel and you will not get much sleep that night. The main criticism that I have with the Sun Hall is that it seems to be used by locals for weddings, parties etc. and when the function rooms are in use the hotel guests get ignored. The Olympic rep has an attitude problem, even moaning because we missed the welcome meeting at 10am, we didnât arrive till 7am and were all in bed! But all in all a very tiring week that deserved better weather!"

Why Four Stars?
"I wish that i had known about Trip Advisor before booking this hotel. Looks great from the outside but inside it's hell. The staff could not care less. Having stayed at four other hotels in Cyprus I find this very strange, my previous interaction with staff in other Cypriot hotels staff proved that he local people can be helpful and charming. Why the four stars? this is what I want to know. This hotel is a dump."

What A Place
"I was horrified to read the reviews before I went (I had already booked). I thought it could not be that bad. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rooms were dirty and I had to share my room with cockroaches. I did complain and their answer was to leave a can of bug killer in my room. The staff's attitude is so what. The breakfast buffet had seen better days. They advertise having a full working gym(one of the reasons for my stay here). I had to ask for a key to the gym all the equipment was out of order and looked like someone had been physically ill over it. The multi gum had half broken cables and was so dangerous. The receptionists attitude was so what do you want me to do. I tried to get some satisafaction by asking why they advertised the place with a full working gym. I was also told when I booked on line that I would be charged when I got there. I thought that i should of had some sort of discount but no way as my account had been deducted even before I got there. I stayed in this place 9 years ago and it was a nice place then. Most of the hotels in Cyprus have the attitude if it ain't broke dont fix it. The hotels are antiquated and customer service does not exsist. I think the quality of visitor might be to blame for this. If people dont complain how can you expect things to get better. This place is owned by the priests they should be ashamed for the price they charge. No charity here."

"Unfriendly and unhelpful staff at reception, they give you the feeling not to be very welcome! The facilities as awhole do not correspond to international standards of a socalled 4star hotel."
