the worst holiday ever
"we have never stayed in such a run down noisy place, the food was a disgrace the room was dirty the bedding smelt and the road outside doubled up as a race track for every idiot in cyprus it has got to be the worst place we have ever stayed. we would not go near this place ever the staff did not want to know the cleaner needed a lesson in house keeping and the kitchen staff needed a lesson in how to cook"

The only 2 positive things about this ho...
"The only 2 positive things about this hotel are, it's very near the beach (no seaview) and friendly receptionists. Otherwise room was real dirty, bathroom and toilet a disgrace, mosquitos splased to the ceiling and walls by previous visitors were never cleaned, No Satellite TV as advertised, just 4 Cyprus stations with very bad reception, Towels and bed linen are not changed daily, No phone calls can come to room, and with the poorest breakfast I have ever seen."

We booked this hotel without first check...
"We booked this hotel without first checking what others had experienced before us, and to be perfectly honest, we now find that the report already published on this website is still completely accurate. Had we checked up first we would not have booked it. First impressions are not too bad, pulling up outside in the taxi you see a hotel that looks OK. But I'm afraid its all downhill from there as things do get steadily worse The safe box is situated behind the reception desk and is only a filing cabinet that opens with a single key. I would never recommend placing any valuables in there. Next was the room, the door to the room looks nice enough, but it rattled constantly in the slightest breeze. There was an old two door wardrobe in our room, from which the handle fell off as we tried to open it. On the opposite side was what appears to have been a built in wardrobe at some time that is now just boarded up with plaster board and screws. The patio doors led to a small balcony, barely big enough to hold two chairs, but the lock on the patio doors was broken and would not lock, so once again any valuables could not be left safely in the room. In the bathroom next, well they obviously did not want anyone to use much water as there was no plugs for either the bath or sink, and the room itself was disgusting and in no way has been refurbished in recent times. Another website I seen about this hotel described the rooms as cozy and homelike, well I am sorry but if my home was as cozy as this I would be living in a horrible house and I would doubt my sanity. I can't comment on the food as we did not stay long enough to try it. Finally would I recommend this hotel to anyone else? Not a chance, do not stay here. "

Hotel was not refurbished as advertised....
"Hotel was not refurbished as advertised. Rooms were dirty and were never cleaned whilst we were there. Bathrooms were a disgrace, toilets never cleaned and not cleaned probably since it was built. No water AT ALL sometimes. No hot water a lot of the time. Couldn't use pool for children the owner had taken in. Safe Box was not. Only filing cabinet with one key. You end up carrying your valuables with you at all times. So called Breakfast was a farce. Had to go over to his other hotel. The food was terrible, coffee also, and the only place where they have no knives and you end up trying to spread your toast, if you can any, with a fork. The whole hotel from reception to the boss was terrible. Donât' go there."

renamed Hotel Faulty Towers
"Basic Hotel. No refurbishment carried out at all. Pool wasn't working but when fixed surrounded by Kosovo Orphans and local boys. You couldn't sit around it and enjoy. Loud banging at night by some guests running around slamming doors until 4am in the morning. No hot or cold water two days. No hot water most days. Room was dirty, never cleaned. Bathrom was a disgrace and toilets were never cleaned and probably never saw a brush since it was built. Breakfast was to be over at the 'other hotel' which of course was a cold breakfast, if you could get near the the food for children. Coffee was terrible, food same, only went once at the beginning and once at the end, didn't improve! The Safe Box consisted of a filing cabinet with one key. once opened anyone could get into any box. Consequently you carried your valuables around with you everywhere. All in all - don't go here. It is the worse ever hotel I and my friends have ever stayed in, EVER."

Simple and cheap
"II stayed at this hotel in July 2005. The hotel is situated in a suburb part of Larnaca among block of flats (apartment houses) and residents´ family houses. When I was driven to the hotel I was frightened because our bus stopped in a dusty street among block of houses. No sea but burning streets only. Reception clerks are probably Russians and their exchange rates are worse than rates at Larnaca airport. Room key is given to you with a huge metal plate so that if you take it to the beach you would be sure that your bag will not be carried away by wind. There is a pool next to the hotel with sunbeds in a shade of trees (very pleasant in the afternoon heat) but from time to time the pool is occupied by local boys. Rooms are nice but small with a little bathroom and a tiny balcony, a TV set and an air-condition without any setting tool â you can switch it on or off only. This air-condition is very effective and you have to switch it off after a quarter of an hour because of terrible cold in your room (and that´s why you can not let it switched on all the night). Cold water in the bathroom changes to hot water occasionally â especially in the afternoon. A main disadvantage is heavy noise from other rooms and a corridor. At night you can hear opening and closing doors, switching on the lights etc. The hotel offers breakfast only â if you have paid dinners too you get them in hotel Cactus (5 minutes´ walk). Breakfasts are very simple â tea, coffee, bread, jam, butter, salami, cheese. A walk to a beach takes about 10 minutes then you can see a fishermans´port on the right side and the city beach beside it. This beach is covered by fine-grained grey sand and is relatively clean. The sea is very slow descending and suitable for children â 60 meters from a shore the water is to the waist high only. You do not find any parasol nor sunbed nor toilet in the first part of the beach but it is pleasant unoccupied there. The second part next to other hotels is fully equipped with parasols and sunbeds and crowds of holidaymakers too. If you need better and more expensive place you can walk about 15 minutes towards the Larnaca centre and there you can find a long wide beach with parasols, sunbeds and shops along the Foinikoudes promenade â the most lively part of Larnaca. Larco hotel is very simple but cheap and by my opinion the only big defect is a lack of quiet in the room at night. If you want to save your money and spend a week in Larnaca by swimming, sunbathing and travelling - you can try it."
