"Just returned after spending 2 weeks at Sammys and I must say that it is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is spotless and the staff couldn't do enough to help. The pool area is beautiful and the swim up bar was just what the doctor ordered as the weather was sunny and hot every day. The food and drink prices were comparable to most places in Kyrenia, but it was nice to walk into town and sit and watch the world go by down at the harbour.
The Corner Restaurant serves a lovely 3 course menu for 29 lira and Peanuts just outside of town is also excellent value for money. It takes 15 minutes to walk into town, although some of the footpaths are not to clever and some of the lighting doesn't work. Overall Kyrenia is a great place to take a holiday, although I would not recommend it for the younger generation, and Sammys hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing holiday. The hotel certainly deserves more than the 2 stars it currently has and we will definitely be returning in the near future."

"Having read a poor review from a holiday maker in July 2006 I can only say I am pleased not to have read it before we went last month.
We found the hotel spotless, the staff so efficient and caring, we felt could not have asked for more. The restaurant waiter went to great pains and more than one try to get our granddaughters eggs "just perfect".
Yes the surrounding areas are what one should expect in Northern Cyprus and care is needed on walking. The taxi service and bus service are cheap and frequent, no problems. There are good beaches within a short distance by Dolmus."

"My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday at Sammy's hotel.
The holiday was organised by Anatolian Sky with a flight from Bristol to Larnaca then onward transport to Kyrenia.
It was our first visit to North Cyprus and we were pleased with the location of the hotel.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, dealing with minor problems promptly. The room was comfortable with a balcony and there was a high standard of cleanliness both in the bedrooms and the public rooms.
The pool was brilliant and the pool service outstanding.
I consider an upgrade to a three star hotel is merited. If we return to Kyrenia Sammy's will be our first choice of accommodation."

"My sister found Sammy's in the Cyprus Paradise Brochure. It appealed to her because it was small and friendly and we just wanted a relaxing break. My daughter and my sisters husband came on the holiday with us and from the moment we arrived we could not have been made to feel more welcome. The rooms were clean and more than adequate. We ate only once in the restaurant as there were so many other places to eat, but the service was excellent and the food great. The pool area and bar were delightful and Hussain the waiter and pool attendant could not do enought for you. All the staff, Turan, Aykuti and Frazil, could not do enough for you, even the owner who lived across the road from the hotel spoke to you on every occasion she saw you. When the time came to go home, I certainly didn't want to, it was like leaving a second family, We will certainly be returning to Sammy's sometime in the near future."

"Had an enjoyable stay at Sammy's. We got a room with a small sitting room which was handy for leaving the suitcases in but was never in the room long enough to sit in it. The room was clean, bed was comfy and had a shower that worked fine with plenty hot water. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from. They were doing some building work nearby but never heard any noise at all.
We went to the Bellapais Gardens Restuarant for a meal on the night of my birthday -( best always to book so you can sit outside on the balcony ) You get a great meal with attentive staff and it wont break the bank. They also will send a taxi to collect you from your hotel and take you back."

"Would certainly recommend for couples. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis but had several evening meals- delicious and were waited on impeccably. The staff - Aykuti, Turan, Fazili, Huseyin and the receptionist Melda - were genuinly friendly and helpful. There were no extra charges for the safe or fridge which together with the friendly feel of the hotel, made one relax quickly and start enjoying the holiday. There are building works going on but I was never disturbed by them and did not hear anything before 9am. We had a lovely atmospheric evening at Bella Pais - reception will telephone to book a courtesy car to both take you and bring you back - the food was not expensive and the setting could not be better. The area is one of the safest I have been to - I would not have been worried walking at night, down the main street in Kyrenia on my own - you cannot say that about many places."

Good but not brilliant
"Had a holiday here in August for 8 days. Hotel staff are very good and look after you well but rooms are small and there is no where to dry anything like towels as most rooms do not have a balcony.
It is not far from the harbour but the walk is basically through a building site for 800 yards with a further 400 yards to the harbour - although a taxi is only £2.
The hotel pool is nice but it has no views other than building sites, which will only turn into other hotels/apartments so you could be anywhere really.
You will not be disappointed here but without a doubt there are other hotels worth looking at ahead of this notably the Colony."

Friendly staff but disappointing accommodation
"The Staff a Sammy's were indeed friendly but the rooms were pretty shabby, and not hugely clean. Also the hotel is on a run down street with many half built building. I stayed on the back of reviews from this site but I was not impressed."

Booked to stay at hotel due to good repo...
"Booked to stay at hotel due to good reports, upon arrival (Wednesday 5th July 1900hrs) were given a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking some conifer trees & a building site. Went down to reception to ask about changing to another room, after insisting to move rooms, were given a room overlooking the new harbour.
Food at hotel all to a reasonable standard but not many British holidaymakers to mix with.
On morning after arrival went to pool area found several building sites next to hotel, constant grinding/drilling going on, so went off for a walk to the town/harbour.
Returned to hotel thinking building sites would close for a siesta in the afternoon but the noise continued all afternoon.
Attended the welcome party at 1545 which was held on the patio only to be disturbed by the site noise again.
After the welcome party we asked the Cyprus paradise representative if we could be moved to another hotel which was completed courteously.
We moved the following morning to the Pia Bella hotel after paying a supplement to upgrade. We were happy to have made the move and enjoyed the rest of our holiday."

"Sammys Hotel is absolutly brilliant!
Excellent staff,friendly & extremely helpful !
All rooms are very well equipped and impeccably clean.
The Pool is overlooked by the mountains that circle the town of Kyrenia.
Pool is well looked after & very clean with quick & efficient snack/drinks service
Food & drink are well priced and served by great staff.
Restaurants in Kyrenia to visit and not to miss are Le Jardin & The Grapevine
N.Cyprus is undergoing extensive building works with certain areas like a gigantic building site
But be adventurous and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

Wonderful place to stay
"My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sammys Hotel, Kyrenia, Cyprus. A wonderful, small family run hotel of only 22 bedrooms. Nice location within easy walking distance of harbour, castle and numerous restaurants and bars. The hotel has recently been decorated to the highest order. Food excellent and wonderful value for money. Hotel satff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel management wonderful, making guests feel really at home, even offered soup on arrival at 23:45. Thoroughly recommend staying at this excellent establishment"
