"My husband and i have just returned from a two week break to the Pia Bella hotel and cannot fault it at all. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. The pools and garden were also beautifully maintained.

I understand that there are extensions underway at the moment, but we were undistrubed by anything which was going on.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis, but opted for half board for the last five days. The choice of food was good - particularly at breakfast.

The other guests staying at the hotel were also very friendly and we made some really good friends.

My husband (Turkish) and I were not that keen on North Cyprus itself, but loved staying at the Pia Bella. My in-laws joined us for the second week and also loved the hotel.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere relaxing."

"My husband and I have just returned from a two week stay at the Pia Bella hotel and cannot fault it at all. The staff were very friendly, helpful and genuine. The hotel and rooms were spotless, and the pool and gardens beautifully maintained.

We had friends visit us at the hotel and my husbands parents joined us for the second week of our holiday - they also loved the hotel.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis but opted for half board for the last five days, and we were not disappointed. The breakfast spread was lovely with something for everyone.

We understand that there is extension work going on, but were not bothered by it at all.

The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaning staff were friendly and helful also.

This is a wonderful hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. The other guests at the hotel were very friendly and we made some really good friends there."

"we have just got back from a 3 week stay at the pia bella hotel in kyrenia, and it is a lovely hotel with 2 swimming pools and lovely gardens, the food was good always hot and cooked fresh. the staff were very freindly. the room was always kept clean with fresh towels every day, there were casinos everywhere but as for actual nightlife we never found any music bars or traditional belly dancing, but there were trips to book thru the rep for cyprus nights. also there are no beaches nearby. but if you are looking for a nice restful holiday i do recommend the pia bella hotel."

"We stayed at the Pia bella in March this year the hotel was lovely the food very good and the staff friendly and attentive. However the resort of Kyrenia was very disappointing we found it to be dirty, rubbish everywhere traffic horrendous. There are over 200,000 people live in this so called idyllic village and I am sure everyone of them has a car or scooter. We travelled by local bus to so called must see sights the majority of which were overshadowed by heavy traffic and construction work which was everywhere. If you go to this hotel I would recommend that you stay there and don't bother venturing out to the noise and pollution that greets you outside."

"This hotel is not, in my opinion, a 4* hotel. Very clean and staff were excellent. We were supposed to be in a superior room but didn't have a good view. There was no lift in the block we were in and no hand rail on the first flight of stairs. We had a jacuzzi bath that didn't work and if you filled the bath above the jets it flooded the floor. I was also shocked when I asked for more tea bags to be told only 2 tea bags per room per day. The staff were super, especially Mustafa, the new barman, he was a real comic. We were on bed and breakfast which was quite satisfactory. Bacon on Sunday only. The gardens were lovely and well kept. The 2 pools were very clean and not too cold. Would visit again but in a different block. The indoor pool is not finished and an extension to one block is not finished, due to a lack of funds we were told."

"We stayed for 11 nights from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 22 June 2008 in a twin room. We booked a package holiday were transfers were included from Ercan Airport so I am unable to comment on how to travel independently to the hotel. However the journey direct by minibus took approximately 40 minutes. When we arrived we were welcomed and offered a complementary drink.

We had booked a superior room and were allocated a room on the third floor in the new (middle) block. The room was very nice, comfortable and very clean. There were twin beds, plenty of wardrobe space, flat screen TV, the usual hotel furnishings and a balcony with table and chairs. The en-suit bathroom had a shower over the bath and a hairdryer. However if you have mobility difficulties you would need to make the hotel aware as our block although recently constructed did not have a lift (whereas other others do) and although it wasn’t usually a problem for us the approximately 70 steps did on occasion get a bit tiring due to the heat. Please note during our stay part of our L shaped block while completed was still unoccupied and looked liked it required some finishing off, i.e. the railings were not on the balconies. This was not a problem for us and we were not aware of any building works taking place during our stay.

The hotel appears to have expanded over the years and currently consists of 3 blocks. At the front is the original block with reception, lounge area and a computer with free internet access. Beyond that are the two additional blocks, the middle one having the restaurant and bar on the ground floor ( while we were staying only the outside patio area was used for breakfast and lunch) and the third block having seating area and games (Table tennis, etc) on the ground floor. Despite the expansion the hotel has retained a large garden area. There are two swimming pools separated by a bar area. There are sun loungers. The gardens are beautifully maintained with lawns, palm trees (providing some shade) and flowers.

The hotel is located in Kyrenia itself on a main road opposite a sports field. It is an easy, 15 minute walk approximately along pavements to the harbour. The majority of the walk is flat but there is a slope down to the harbour itself. Within a couple of minutes of the hotel there is about 4 cafes/ restaurants and a few of shops such as a couple of corner type shops and a pharmacy. In the opposite direction (turning right coming out at the front of the hotel) there is a supermarket. Therefore there are nearby options if one does not want to walk into the centre of town.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast bases. The breakfast is served daily from 7.30am to 10am. The breakfast is self service and included a good variety of choice. There were cereals, yogurt, fruit, a selection of cheeses and cold meats, cooked breakfast (that changed daily), selection of bread and pastries and hot and cold drinks. We ate a snack at lunchtime at the hotel a couple of times and found that was good. However we did not have an evening meal there as we prefer to eat out on holiday.

The staff service is very good and very friendly. They were very helpful when my husband became ill as they gave advice regarding pharmacy and also offered to call a doctor. They have a customer services rep that goes round the tables at breakfast checking that everything is alright. The hotel itself appears a very popular choice with many people being return visitors year after year. The balance felt right with many of the regulars enjoying chatting with the staff however it was not intrusive as it was equally ok for us who prefer to be independent and found the staff there when we needed them.

The hotel provides entertainment on some evenings. While we were there Euro 2008 Football was on and they put up a large screen in part of the bar area for people who wanted to watch. They also had themed evenings such as an Elvis night, Cypriot night a couple of evenings each week. We did not attend but when we could hear the music from our room. So that maybe something to consider if it’s your thing or not.

We felt that the hotel was a great option as we wanted to stay in walking distance of the harbour but it also offered excellent facilities for when we wanted to have lazy days. The hotel is very nicely maintained and run to a good standard. We would be very happy to return again or to recommend it to friends and family. It was our first time in North Cyprus and we were unsure what to expect but we had a wonderful time and the hotel’s facilities contributed to this."

"This was one of many returns back to kyrenia and this time will be the last! We had arranged with the hotel for a taxi to collect us from the airport. On our arrival the taxi driver was waiting for us, which was great. However when we the driver escorted us to the taxi we was utterly shocked! There was a row of new Mercedes parked up and in between was this old black Mercedes with black curtains which looked like a funeral car! During the drive to the hotel the front seat was not bolted to the floor and every time the driver break your pulled off the seat would bolt back and forward, the suspension was shot and made strange noises. (We paid £55 each way for this service). This car was entirety unsafe!

On arrival at the hotel Cervit greeted us warmly, and told us to go sit down for comp drinks and our meal. Our bags where taken to the rooms while we sat and enjoyed our food.

Our rooms where spotlessly clean, and every day our beds where made and we had fresh towels, which is normal for the pia bella!

However the smell that came from the basement was ghastly! So every time we took the lift we had to suffer this smell, which was worse with the heat.

This hotel has a high standard, yet the atmosphere has totally changed! from our last (a year ago) has totally changed! You are no longer able to take your own food into the rooms; this includes milk to make tea or coffee. The fridges in the rooms have milk in them, which is far more expensive than in the shops. (which you expect) but everywhere you look there are signs informing you that no food your drink is allowed on the hotel grounds! We was on a half board basis, so sometimes we only wanted a small snack for lunch, so we would purchase items at the local shop and sneak them back into our room. (We was not the only one's)

Across the road from the Hotel is a restaurant (Blue Rose) it is owned by a British lady and Turkish man. My son and husband ordered adult sausage and chips which cost
20 YTL (aprox £9.00) the amount that arrived on the plate was embarrassing! My son counted only 18 small chips! Hastened to say we never returned!

You are no longer able to have any friends or family to visit you at the hotel, ( again signs everywhere stating this) which we found very difficult! The reasons for our visit to Cyprus was to catch with our friends and family! Last year they where made welcome and was able to seat and eat with us at the hotel.

Most of the waiters are over friendly and would do anything for you. Nothing was too much trouble, yet one or two of them was very off hand! Ali was extremely rude! But Hakan, mustafa, Ahmet and Ozman are really friendly and will have a good laugh with you.

One night the tables in the restaurant had been rearranged with a table for 20 or more set alone. We were even told where to sit, which has never happened before! We wondered why and after a while the Owner and his family all arrived and sat at that head table. Once again the atmosphere was really bad and everyone was running around like headless chickens! We ate our meal and left as quickly as possible as we felt it was a private family party!
I have stayed at many hotels and I have never experienced this before! I understand that Cyprus people are very family orientated, but this was way beyond!
Remembering paying guest are not permitted to have their family or friends on hotel grounds!

We had paid good money to stay in this hotel and we were treated poorly when the boss man was around and this also happened when other Turkish visitors sat and ate. They had preferential treatment over the staying/paying guests!

The entertainment in the hotel really requires sorting! Elvis who has been singing there for years! Some guy on an organ who has not got a tone in his body! The best night there is the ‘Cyprus night’ that was really entertaining and every body really enjoyed and was able to get up and dance, the waiters even dressed in traditional costume.

The beaches are really dirty; we found needles, jagged meat tins and broken bottles.

We visited the bella pais abbey on the mountainside, which has wonderful views, but if you look down at the cliff side it has become the local tip!

We took a B-B-Q in the hilltops and again the rubbish around was horrendous!

We visited st hilirons castle and on the road was a black Labrador that has been hit by a car and had obviously been there a few days! The sight was horrific and upset us terribly!
Northern Cyprus was once a beautiful place but it is becoming filthy and totally spoilt!

"This is our eigth consecutive visit to the Pia Bella Hotel. Which in turn speaks for itself.
From management down to room maids the staff could not be more helpful. You feel that your holiday is as important to them as it is to you. Nothing is ever too much trouble, hence our return year after year.
Surroundings are excellent. Food is superb. Rooms are spotless. The location within a mile of Kyrenia is second to none. Harbour, restaurants and cafe are within manageable walking distance.
We will continue to visit and have made many friends over the years who also return like us time and time again for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Once again made most enjoyable by all of the staff.
Many Thanks Pia Bella."

The Piabella is more suitable for couples without children however children are made most welcome. We have stayed there twice and are planning a third visit. The dining facilities are excellent and the food although limited choice is very good. The hotel is situated on a main road about 20 minutes walk away from the harbour and shops."

"a most enjoyable holiday with friendly and caring staff whom nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was spotlesly clean with maid service daily, the food, served in a spacious dinning room or on the sun terrace, was excellent with choices that catered for all tastes. The overall cleanliness of the hotel could not be faulted the pools & patio's first class and gardens were carefully manicured. Most of the guests we spoke to said they had returned each year which is something we would consider ourselves. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday"
