20 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We booked after reading good reviews and we certainly weren't disappointed! We were greeted by a warm and friendly Lesley who was very informative. The accommodation was comfortable and very spacious. We found all the staff to be extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We hired a car for three days which was very good value. The pool was lovely and clean with fresh pool towels daily. We will certainly return next year, thank you to Mustafa, Lesley and all the staff for a lovely relaxing holiday. Jon, Lisa and family."

What a great time we had!
"My friend and I have just returned from a week at the Citrus Tree Gardens. We couldn't fault the hotel. All the staff, Mustafa, Lesley - who couldn't do enough for you - were very friendly and helpful. The high rate of return visitors is a good endorsement and a reason to return. Thanks for making our much needed, relaxing time away, special!"

Where was Sandy from Bedfordshire Staying?
"Have just returned from our third visit to Citrus Tree and felt compelled to respond to Sandy from Bedfordshire's comments. We keep returning to CTG because of the level of friendliness and helpfulness shown to us and all guests from this family run hotel. From our experience, no problem is too great to be overcome. Having eaten there on numerous occasions, Lesley would no more heat up a sausage never mind chicken and her cooking skills are admirable. Re paying for water in the room, this means one never has to buy bottled water nor carry a kettle as there is a constant supply of hot and cold water in your room when needed. The Turkish buffet breakfast is more than adequate any request for cheese to be grilled, eggs to be fried, poached or scrambled is met with a pleasing nod and smile and delivered once ready. We have never experienced Sandy's problem with the wardrobes and rooms are cleaned daily with sheets and towels changed regularly. If we have ever experienced any kind of problem bringing it to the attention of Mustafa or his staff, the problem is soon rectified. Having stayed in other countries and establishments we rate CTG very highly hence our returning time after time. Just the place to go to unwind and chill out and recharge the batteries. Can't wait to return."

Would not go again
"Greeted by Lesley ın her overall!! She seemed quıte nıce but when she showed us our room, explaıned we would have to pay for the drınkıng water. If we wanted bacon or sausage for our breakfast we would have to pay extra even though we had paıd for half board!! Our wardrobe had four hangers ın ıt even though theır were two of us stayıng for two weeks, when the wardrobe doors were open they touched the bed, whıch made ıt very dıffıcult to put thıngs iın it. Our evenıng meal consısted of watery tomato soup, Re-heated chıcken ın a mushroom sauce, my husband had ıce cream for sweet wıth a damp chocolate wafer. Thıs added to other thiıngs made us request a change of hotel from our Rep. Alternative hotel -superb!!!"

Relaxing and pleasant stay in a friendly enviroment
"Very helpfull staff, nothing was too much trouble. Transport to Kyrenia town would have been a good idea but local taxi's were frequant enough. Use of a hire car is a must if you want to get around, walking at the roadside is dodgey. But on the whole there was nothing to fault with the Hotel and service."

A QUIET AND PEACEFULL CHRISTMAS .TRULY GOODWILL TO ALL
"Mustaffa and his staff where very attentive . Our every need was catered for, not a slick operation but warm and friendly . The rooms where clean and we had everything we needed . The newly installed heating was the icing on the cake although the temp was 17 and above during the day it would have been chilly at night. . Bus available outside door and cheap car hire means nowhere is too far away . Our first experience of Northern Cyprus and we will return ."

Very enjoyable week at Citrus Tree Gardens.
"Just returned from CTG and must say we had a lovely week's holiday there. The little bungalows are extremely clean and comfortable and have just been fitted with central heating - which at this time of the year is really necessary, because although the days were really sunny and warm, the evenings and nights could be quite cold. Mustafa and his staff were very welcoming and attentive and we can't wait to return. Anne and Des."

Home from Home
"Having read all the other reviews we tried this hotel having been to Kyrenia before and loved the country to find that all the other reviews were spot on, the only fault I could find (and i am really fussy) was the fact that the beds had to be pushed together but then the bedding didn't quite fit cos 2 singles does not a double make! more of a king size, but having mentioned it in passing to Mustafa , we had the linen changed, also expected a bungalow (all on one level) but found that the bedroom was upstairs, toilet down ,me getting on a bit I need go no further! Nothing was to much trouble for anyone from the gardener to the Boss and I am sure you dont need me to add anything about Lesley!!! Had a great holiday and will be going back at some stage and it will definitely be to the Citrus. Tried quite a few restaurants and had some great food and some not so great food. The Severner We thought was not one of the better ones and if you go to the Grumpy Grouse expect dire food and grumpy english staff! The Saint Tropaz was on the expensive side but oh so worth it. The Stone Grill was different and again a little expensive but great novelty value. The new indian across the road is a little expensive but food not bad.The Fast Food Cafe 1.5km up in Akcansak was oh so cheap and oh, oh, oh, so good, and they do free delivery as does Mr Chun the chinese so if you dont want to go out order in! The Dano bakery a couple of blocks up the road will change you double what the supermarket does for exactly the same bread from exactly the same bakery. As others have said, the dolmus stops right outside and its cheap 2.5 tl to Kyrenia which in the 3 years between visits has changed not altogether for the better, nothing stays the same. We went 09.10 to 23rd .10 and were really lucky with the weather, hot and no rain, but if you do choose this time of the year it usually does rain according to the locals. If you choose to go I hope you enjoy it as much as we did."

A very British home from home
"We stayed at the Citrus Tree in October and it was ideal for what we wanted - a week lying by the pool doing nothing. However, if you wanted to do anything else, you might want to look elsewhere. On the positive side, the place was spotlessly clean and the staff - all of them - were superb. You felt safe and looked after whilst not being intruded upon. As many people have mentioned, nothing was too much trouble and they always had a 'hello' and a smile for you. The guys at the bar were our favourites! The pool was also immacuate with plenty of beds - towels and lounger cushions supplied - so you never had to fight to get a space. The water cooler is also a great investment at £10 per week - we drank 19 litres and it was beautifully cool! It's also great that you can swap your dinner for lunch if you're on half board and there's free WIFI. On the less positive side, it is situated close to the main road and if you have one of the apartments at the front (or a room in the main building) it will take you days to get used to the noise. You can also hear the traffic by the pool - unless the pool bar music drowns it out. It's 9km into Kyrenia which is 3 lira (about £1.20) in the brilliant minibus (like the old 'hop and stoppas' at home) or £25 in a taxi which can add up night after night. It also takes about 20 minutes. As previous reviews have mentioned, Lesley's food was very good quality - you can tell she used to run a pub at home - but it is very British (bangers and mash, gammon steak etc) which might not be to everyone's taste. Breakfast is also exactly the same every day which I can imagine could get a little boring after a week. The self catering faciltiies are poor but we didn't need them and I understand they will provide you with anything you ask for. There are plenty of good restaurants a short journey away, with a handful just a few minutes' walk, and other guests will give you recommendations, Although it has nothing to do with the Citrus Tree, if you're coming to Kyrenia for a beach holiday this isn't really the place for you. The closest one was about 5 minutes' walk away but it's owned by a local hotel and you have to pay to use it. This is the same across the area and whilst the beaches are clean, they're not very big so you can walk up and down them in a few minutes. Everyone we met had been back to Kyrenia time and time again - 23 times was the record. We're not sure what the attraction was, but the Citrus Tree certainly gave us a very warm welcome and a pleasant stay and.certainly helped us recharge our batteries."
