Excellent hotel in the off-season

"We stayed here for four days in early spring. At the time, most of the other hotels in this complex were closed up, and the pace of activities was definitely well below the summer rush. This made for a very pleasant stay--we ran the paths all around the peninsula and saw virtually no one, swam alone in the hotel's indoor salt water pool, and breakfasted in the half-empty cafe.

We found the hotel above average for the area. In the US, it would probably only rate 3 stars, but the facilities, cleanliness, and service were as good or better than others we've visited in Croatia and Slovenia.

The setting is gorgeous and I highly recommend strolling around the whole peninsula if you can."

"I stayed last weekend in this hotel, and it is very nice.. the sea view balcony was just incredible.. the room was quite normal but the overall was ok.
The outdoor swimming pool was opened, amazing view over the sea ,some adventurous were swimming in there. It was very warm, but the water a bit cold for me :) , anyway there is an indoor swimming pool with direct access to the outdoor one.
The Staff looked very professional, too much maybe. I prefer kind of friendly.. than so serious.
Well, my friends.. if you want to go around the hotel looking for a restaurant you will need to walk a lot, Verudela is kind of island with nothing to eat around! (at least in April) but if you like walking you can go to a very cheap restaurant called Bistro Biska half an hour walking from the hotel, the food is excellent there, try the Scampi.
All is green in Verudela, I would recommend this area for family with young children cause there is a lot of entertainment for them..
Airport fee is around 15 Euros to the hotel. You will need to negotiate it before starting the trip!"

"we got the room we asked for sea view balcony. the only complaint was the nightclub was only open saturday as opposed to every night, the aquarium only opened at the weekends, the buffet food wasnt good.but the restaurant during the day was very good and the taverna restaurant was nice. buses into pula are every 20 mins and cost 11kn very handy.the airport is about 20 mins away and cost 120 kn in a taxi. the water was too cold to swim in but the weather was beautiful.the e&d evening and night lounge just beside the busstop is a must it was the best pub/cafe we went to while there"

"Just returned from a week at the Histria, had a great time.
Hotel was lovely, very clean and staff very friendly and helpful.
Would recommend it to anyone.
Food Wasnt that great but maybe it gets better as the season picks up.
Pula itself is beautiful with plenty to see and do also very cheap.
Found a small bar in the bunarina that all the locals use,
3 kuna (30p) for a glass of wine, beat that !
Only one small problem, LADIES BEWARE! very often ladies loo is a hole in the ground !!"

"This is a four star hotel, which serves two star food and charges 5 star prices at the bar.

Our hotel room was lovely, clean with lovely balcony and views.
You have to be down for breakfast or evening meal about 30mins (at the latest) before they finish, as they start clearing all the food away.
The food at this hotel was not very good, and i can honestly say we did not enjoy one meal there and we were there for two weeks.

We found most of the staff not very friendly, especially on the bar.
I would not go back to this hotel, sorry!"

Nice Hotel But Beware....

"Stayed here for the last two nights of our holiday as we had been impressed by a visit to it at the start for a drink. The rooms are a great size with large balconies and mini bar. Air conditioning unit could not be run for more than 10 minutes as it sounded like a tractor was running in your room!!!! Furniture a bit tired looking but clean. Bathroom was nice but water pressure poor in shower.

The situation of the hotel is beautiful - try a walk along the coast and swim in the many rocky coves as I would not swim in the hotel pool!!! Although attractive the pool was very dirty and tiles on floor of pool covered in green slime - very offputting!!

Dont go half board - the dinner buffet is very poor - we got our money back as we got to restuarant at 8.30 pm ( closes at 9 pm) and there was literally next to nothing there!!! What was there was of a very poor quality. Go to the small restaurants in neighbouring complex or get the bus into town ( approx £1 each single) and go to Pompeii Italian Restuarant near the forum - excellent value for money.

To sum up - a nice hotel in lovely situation but poor food and pool cleanliness lets it down."

"This hotel is acceptable, of course, but it's certainly nothing special. The furniture in the common areas is stained and sagging, and not a place I would consider inviting. We did have a nice balcony overlooking the outdoor swimming pool as well as the jackhammers which started up promptly at 7am to presumably replace the worn tile surrounding it.
But the biggest shock of all was that for two adults and a 9 year old child, we paid $139 Euro per night!!! And that was OFF season. It just wasn't worth it."

Large,efficient and something for everyone.

"Glad to be the first to put a report on tripadvisor for this hotel. We booked here and stayed for 5 nights in late August 2005 having driven from Venice in Italy through Slovenia and down the Istrian coast to Pula it was our first time in Croatia and a bit of an adventure for "Mrs Godso" and the 3 kids.
My advice! Do not hesitate to book here-the hotel is lovely and really does have something for everyone amongst its extensive facilities. From the moment we arrived, unsure of what to expect,we found the service positive and friendly at reception.(our Uk booking agency had made an error with the room reservations and this was efficiently sorted without any stress within minutes). The reception lobby is large and well appointed with comfortable sofas,a jewellery and shoe shop as well as a a newsagent which sells some toiletries and beach items and a bar. There are also internet terminals and a cash point in this area too. I enjoyed hours over the 5 days we stayed there just "chilling out" and watching the world go by here with a glass of red wine!
Rooms very large and spacious with balconies and fantastic views of the pool at the rear and the spectacular bay behind-very relaxing and comfortable beds too.
Organisation in the restaurant seemed to be the only small hiccup we experienced. It is very large and there seemed to be no explanation for the allocated numbers on the tables at breakfast and the only other meal time we ate in there-our first night.Anyway we just sat down and got on with it and everyone seemed happy with that.On our first night we entered the restaurant around 8.30pm not having being told that it closed at 9pm and quickly discovered that the serving staff were tidying away the dinner buffet before we had finished our starter.Having had to "negotiate" yes negotiate a meal price with the restaurant manager for a family of 5 I thought this a little unfair so following a short persuasive conversation on the value of customer service with a rather sombre restaurant manager "Olivio?"he came up trumps sorted the problem in minutes and THEN came back later in the bar and gave all the kids free ice cream and ourselves a drink! Well done Olivio!!Fantastic..
The hotel is adjacent to some smaller hotels and a pool complex where entertainment is on nightly. As the clientelle is mainly German,Italian and Eastern European this is not great for English families but there are also small cafe bars and shops nearby within strolling distance. We actually ate out in this area each nite where we had an excellent meal each time with several courses and drinks for around a half to two thirds of the price you would pay in the UK.Croatia is very cheap for food generally but don't expect much choice on the menus unlike here. They are very basic with no frills but all the food we ate was great.
Back in the hotel our family enjoyed all of the extensive facilities.Inside the hotel and in the basement area there is a large indoor pool, gym, sauna and beauty treatment salon. There is also a doctor on site,a smallish niteclub that remained open until 3am and a casino.Outside and to the rear is a sunbathing area and a small cafebar and seawater filled pool.
Beyond that is a stunning bay and rocky beach which offers scenic strolls and great sunbathing.Pedalos and waterslides can also be hired for next to nothing if walking is not your scene.
Verdict-This hotel would hold it own amongst a quality large hotel anywhere in the world. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here although you will almost certainly need a car or take a taxi into the local town of Pula a short ride away.
2 Tips
1. Please please please visit "Rovinj" about 40-50 minutes away.I still think this is the prettiest town I have ever seen.
2.Mums and Dads-There is a Macdonalds in Pula town centre if you get fed up with pasta, fish or pizza which seems to be the staple diet here like its neighbour Italy."
