if it wasn't for the details... (friendly, but oh so sloppy)
"Spent a week at Hotel Park recently. In a nutshell, this hotel suffers from typical problems that plague Croatian tourism as a whole - there is simply not enough (staff and management) professionalism around, compared to some neighboring countries.
Hotel Park is perfectly located a few steps from the main square of Hvar, with a great view over the harbor. Rooms are very spacious albeit furnished sort of Ikea-style. Facilities are new, there is a complimentary WiFi Internet access, complimentary shuttle service to the ferry port, and there are some nice small touches such as availability of hotel towels to be taken to a beach. Staff is very friendly - when one asks for help.
On the other side, there are some details which a hotel of that price range simply cannot afford. For example, bath/shower amenities are not replenished at all, and after complaining the task will be done completely carelessly, so one gets three shampoos but no bath foam. And one has to complain regularly, which shows no interest to learn from past mistakes.
Second, it is hardly acceptable to consistently serve unripe fruits for breakfast in arguably one of the sunniest islands in the Mediterranean.
Third, a hotel which charges 250 to 350 ⬠per night really should offer complimentary slippers, and have a cable TV, or at least a satellite TV unit that works - as it is, one is limited to 4 Croatian national terrestrial channels. Of course, people do not spend a lot of time in their rooms so they can do without TV, but still our overall feeling was that there are simply too many sloppy details around - for the price.
Not to be seen as too finicky - Park Hotel is a cozy place to stay in wonderful Hvar, but it is simply not worth the money."

Very comfortable hotel in a great location
"Plush or cozy it isn't. Nor will it win any designers prize, yet it is spacious, comfortable impecably clean and what is most important staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Mateo ? prepared a delicious breakfast, and sipping my morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the Riva was just as good as it gets. They also provide a free shuttle service to the ferry terminal. All in all, quite a delightful experience. Will certainly go back."

We found paradise with Ikea furniture
"The Hotel Park was even better than I expected and was even more beautiful than the website presented it. We stayed for 2 nights and had two suites (Apartment #1 type). We had 2 balconies each - one in the living room and one in the bedroom and everything was so clean and modern and absolutely fantastic. The location couldn't be better, the people couldn't be nicer and they even picked us up at the ferry in Stari Grad and carried our luggage up all of the the stairs. We were there off season thus I found the price very reasonable for what we got. I totally recommend this hotel to everyone who appreciates beauty and comfort and location. Also they had free internet and a nice breakfast included in the price."

Absolute best place to stay in town
"We spent 2 weeks in Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro in May and June 2008 and Hvar island was the highlight of the trip; Hotel Park Hvar simply put the experience over the top. We had the corner room on the third floor with two balconies (I believe it was Room 33) - spectacular! A great view of the harbor and plaza and a wonderful place to relax in the early evening before going out. The accommodations were top notch and the hotel was very helpful. We will definitely be back, and have recommended Hvar and the Hotel Park Hvar to friends and family, including one couple who is now heading there for their 10th anniversary."

Nice but expensive
"We stayed at the Hotel Park for 2 nights during our trip to Croatia.
Hvar Town is lovely and has such a great atmosphere, walk up to the fortress for amazing views of Hvar town and harbour.
The hotel park is beautiful, everything is new and spotless. We stayed in room 31 on the top floor. Amazing views but no balconies. The suite is huge: 2 single beds, 1 Kingsize bed, lounge area, large bath toom and even some gym equipment. The room is great but it is expensive.
Breakfast was ok but not a huge selection to choose from.
The hotel is fantastic but it does lack ammenities such as lounge bar, pool, gym etc.
The location is fantastic and there are plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from.
Hotel parking is just out of the old town but their is a hotel mini bus to help you with your luggage.
If you want to try some typical croatian food try Konoba Menego, it's a bit like croatian tapas."

A great hotel in a central location
"A perfect hotel for a stay in Hvar. It is not the cheapest, but for some extra money, you get south facing rooms with views onto the harbour and main square, and it is so easy then to "pop home" whilst in the town. Having a sitting room is such a bonus where you have a nice sunny view - it is so relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and so straightforward. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.
I enjoyed the hotel restaurant - a nice shaded terrace overlooking the harbour, but my tip would be to go to Gariful - a really nice little restaurant at the end of the quayside (after the Riva hotel). Another friendly place, with good honest food, but with a quirky floor - an acquarium with lobsters and fish!"

The best place in Hvar!
"LOCATION: Perfect! Steps from the main town center, but far enough away to avoid the crowds.
BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Bed was a little on the hard side, but still comfortable. Sheets were of very high quality and pillows were soft, thin, and comfortable.
LIGHTING: Excellent in both bedroom and bathroom.
BATHROOM/SHOWER: Very good with adequate water pressure. Everything seems very new.
TOILETRIES: Good stuff, probably good enough to take home.
CLEANLINESS: Bathroom and bedroom were extremely clean.
A/C: Quiet and got the room cool quickly. Made a very loud popping sound during the night both mornings we were there. Turning it off stopped the sound.
CLOSET SPACE: More than enough space for 2.
STYLE OF ROOM: Nothing luxurious but one of the most comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in. The room was huge with a separate living room area. We had apartment 4 which looks much nicer in person than the hotel website. There is a view of the marina from the bedroom window but the higher floor rooms probably have a very impressive view.
FOOD: Breakfast selection was minimal. Choice of 3 cereals, ham, croissants, yoghurt, and eggs. Coffee is mediocre.
TV/INTERNET: Large flat screen TV. Satellite TV with hundreds of stations (only 3 in English and all of them are news). Wireless in the rooms is available at no cost and is extremely fast with an excellent connection. There is a computer available in the lobby for use at no charge. The room has a DVD player and movies are available at no charge from reception (get them before they close at 8PM and grab a few since they are copies and some are barely watchable).
SERVICE: Staff is very helpful and polite. Amazingly let us check out at 4PM at no extra cost! Only complaint here is that they only sent one person to meet us at the ferry dock and we had 2 huge bags meaning I had to carry one up the 15-20 steps myself. If you want help with bags, be sure to specify that you may need more than one person there. They let us check out at 4PM with no extra charge⦠unheard of!
COMMON AREA: Nice, but not really an area that you will want to hang out in. The rooms are so perfect for that!
TIPS: Finding a simple sandwich for lunch was difficult. There is a prosciutto sandwich that is supposed to be the best in town near the bus stop (there are anchovies out front). Walking down the steps from the palace hotel the first restaurant/bar on the left has some excellent sandwiches and a burger. Not less expensive than the others, but a good simple lunch option. This is clearly the best option in Hvar unless you want to be in one of the hip hotels in which you will sacrifice room space and pay more. I would rather have a more comfortable, larger room, and then hang out at the Adrian, Riva, etc. than stay there. This place is not luxurious but it so comfortable and homely that it is the only place I would choose next visit to Hvar."

Great Hotel, Great Location
"While the teal and white decor is a bit "hospital chic", the hotel and the staff were great. I don't think I booked the best room on Expedia and ended up with the breathtaking view attached. I only wished we had stayed for more time. Hvar is amazing. The breakfast is good and it was an enjoyable experience. I'd go back again."

Great location, rooms and value
"We have just returned from a week at the hotel Park. Our room-no 31- was on the top floor with probably the best view in town over the harbour and placa. It has a separate living room, flat screeen TV,enormous bathroom with massage bath and even a cross trainer overlooking the harbour. The only downside is the 3 flights of stairs -no lift - to keep you fit.
The best part was the free half board on offer in Sept and Oct for stays over 5 nights- anything from the extensive a la carte menu except the lobster was on offer. We did eat out a couple of times but there was nothing better in Hvar we found and the terrace restaurant is charming
Finally, arranging the stay and transfers was all done by email with Anna , one of the team there who was very helpful and efficient"

Wonderful hotel with friendly, helpful staff
"We spent two nights at the hotel park hvar. The website photos don't really do the hotel justice. It is well located right in the thick of it, just one row back from the harbour side.
Although it is close to the centre which is packed with people at night it is not noisy and once inside the hotel it is calm and relaxing. The rooms are of a high standard and very spacious.
The breakfast terrace is beautiful. The staff are lovely and couldnt have been more friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be back to stay there again soon.

"I just returned from 5 night stay, and I was rather disappointed.
My room (#2) was rigt in front of the reception door, and was rather noisy. The service is not 4 star: I had to ask for the beach towels promised on the hotel website, for the soap and the toiletries (made in china!), and for coat-hangers.
The hotel is almost brand new but the rooms have no personality: as the Beautiful South sung, "this could be Rotterdam or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome..."
The best thing of the hotel is the restaurant, on a quiet terrace over the port: since in august the restaurants in Hvar are very busy and you have to espect almost an hour before to take a seat, the most intelligent thing is to have diner in the hotel restaurant. Try also the restaurant of the Adriana, overlooking the port and the old town of Hvar: great atmosphere, food and service."

"We recently stayed at the Hotel Park with the help of prior reviews and found it to be excellent. The room and common parts of the hotel are new in appearance and modern design. Not trendy and ultra chic like the Adriana but also not going for that kind of market. All areas of the hotel are very clean.
All staff were friendly and happy to provide assistance in very good english.
Hotel location is up a few stairs which can be a bit of work if you have heavy luggage. But good as it separates you from the main harbor crowds.
Room size was large with a sitting area and separate bedroom. I believe all rooms face the harbor. (Photos are attached which shows the room and view of the harbor/outside dining area.) Free wireless internet provided in the room, you must get password from the front desk. There is also a PC in the lobby area you can use. Although we did not use them, a couple of beach towels were in the room as well.
We did not dine at the restaurant but it looked very nice with a view of the harbor. Breakfast was included with the room (190EUR equivalent per night) while not overly extensive, enough to start the day. Eggs and coffee are ordered from the waiter. Did not ask if they had other made to order options.
Hotel does not have a pool but who needs one when you have the clear waters of sea.
All in all a great place and we thought great value as well."
