Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort

Fab hotel, great location
"Got a really good rate on yeego.com - Spent 5 nights here mid September. Absolutely loved it, much better quality than Dubrovnik hotels. Right on the water and a ten minute stroll from the main harbour area. Pool wasn't finished, but that didn't hinder anything, as they had lush private cabanas with loungers as well as cheaper regular loungers. Everything in the hotel has been revamped, and is top notch. Comes highly recommended...."

Great stay at Amfora
"Thanks to those who took the time to post about the renovations and how the property was working out. I had been torn between the PodSine and Amfora and based on the reviews and the closer proximity to town, booked the Amfora. It was an excellent choice. The rooms were stylish in decor, had the right amenities and the view was beautiful. The walk into town was delightful. Had a good rate by using the hotel booking website. Next year, when the cascading pool is finished, it will cost a huge amount more, so now is the time to stay there! If you come from Hvar, the hotel has their own catamaran for 13e which you can book with them directly and your bags will be taken right to your room. One thing, there are no towels down at the beach, there is a chair rental fee but the real issue is to make sure you bring a towel."

Great re-vamped hotel..
"We have just returned from staying 4 nights in Hvar for the 2nd year running. We decided to stay at the Amfora, as the previous year we stayed in an area called Krizna Luka which we found, having 2 small children, was just too far a walk from the main beach. The Amfora overlooks the main beach and has just been totally renovated (the pool area is yet to be finished), the rooms are fantasic, very modern and a great size. Our room was a superior park view room, which turned out to be a triple size (worth requesting) so we had loads of room for a cot plus a fold-out bed for our 4 year old. We were told that the hotel had only recently re-opened, obviously with new staff.. there were teething problems, no-one seemed to know what was going on! we were checked us into our room when the previous people were still in bed!! Apart from that, the food upstairs in the restaurant was great, the view fantastic. I would definetely recommend this hotel, but warn people to book direct through suncani website, my sister-in-law was charged almost double what we were for the same room, same time, through another travel website. The hotel will be fantastic next summer when the pool is finished!"

Modern Stylish Hotel - highly recommended and currently great value for money
"we spent 4 nights at the Amfora and really enjoyed it. At the moment you can get some great deals as the hotel pool is not finished for the 2007 season. This didnt matter to us at all as the sea is a 2 minute walk away. The hotel is just a 5 minute brisk walk or a 10 minute leisurely stroll from Hvar's harbour. The rooms are 5 star, very modern with a cool bathroom. The views from the reception area and breakfast/dining room are wonderful, some of the best in hvar! I would highly recomend this hotel. It really stands well above the normal standard of hotel accomodation in croatia. I cant wait to go back."

Loved the Amfora!
"One word describes this hotel: fantastic! The service was excellent. The front desk was very friendly. The views are spectacular. The rooms are nice and cozy. Breakfast is included and it is quite a nice spread. It's a 5 minute walk to the center of town and all the action. It's a 2 minute walk to the crystal blue water. We spent 7 days in Croatia and the stay at the Amfora was definitely the highlight of the trip. One thing to be careful about: we booked a room with a "sea view" (which is more expensive than a "garden view"), and in reality, there wasn't much sea to view from the room. If you do elect to go for this type of room, make sure that you actually get the view that you're asking for. Other than that, you will love this hotel!"

lovely relaxing stay
"Myself and my partner have just come back from a weeks stay at the newly opened Amfora Hotel. We arrived at the island without accommodation and for the first night booked into a private apartment but after visiting the Amfora on the second day moved there. We had looked into staying at the Amfora before we left but was uncertain about the building work so never booked before we left. The hotel had only been open a week before we arrived and apart from there not being a swimming pool (this will be completed next year) our stay couldn't of been more perfect. Staff were more than helpful, the room and overall hotel was beautifully decorated and in an ideal position for both the sea and harbour. The building work was never a problem as they aren't allowed to work in the summer months, the front of the hotel where the pool will be does look like a bit of a building site but not really a big deal. We obviously contacted the hotel directly for the room rate and this may be why we had in my opinion such a great deal for this quality of hotel. All in all a lovley holiday in a fantastic hotel and location, highly recommended!"

Great hotel now; Excellent hotel once they get the pool completed
"The Amfora is a great hotel with a great location a short stride from the rocky beach and inlet west of the town center of Hvar. It is about a 10 minute walk to Hvar town itself. If you are looking for a high end hotel in Hvar, I would definitely recommend this one. It has all the amenities you need if you are used to being pampered. One of the best things I thought was the Free Wi-fi internet that is spread throughout the hotel. I was able to use my iPhone to connect to the internet free of charge the entire time in lieu of bringing a computer. Some of the downsides include the fact that the outdoor pool and water park look like they have another year or two to go before completion. Once completed, it will probably be a top choice for families with children which might be good or bad depending on what you want. Also, while the hotel service is the best in Croatia that I experienced, they still have some ways to go before it's considered 5 star service. E.g. One of the waitresses on the deck overlooking the Adriatic routinely forgot our orders more than once. The rooms are also a bit small compared to other more established resort destinations, but it's something that is easily forgotten. Overall, a high recommendation, especially after they get the pool completed!"

Large Hotel with Modern Rooms
"My husband and I just returned from a two week trip to Croatia and spent 2 nights in Hvar at the Amfora. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the center of town and the port. This is a good thing as we discovered. There are a few late night clubs in town that have loud disco music and we were far enough away not to hear it. When we first arrived I was concerned as the hotel looked like a big box communist style hotel. But once we got our room we were pleasnantly suprised by the new and modern room decor. The hotel has upgraded most of its rooms and will renoviate the lobby, bars, resturants, and public spaces this winter and early 2007. By the video they have in the lobby it will be quite spectulactor but I am not sure they can accomplish this is just 9 months. Anyway, the hotel is good for families as it has lost of activities as well as a beach, beach bar and resturant. The hotel resturant does serve breakfast but it was very average and the coffee was terrible. That was the only downside to the hotel."

Excellent hotel and location
"One of the best hotels we have stayed in. The room was just as depicted on the website - very unusual - modern, if a bit on the small side, with all the ammenities ie hairdryer, safe, satellite tv, mini bar, laundry etc. It was quiet and although we did not have a sea view the balcony over looked gardens. The food was very good with a good choice of dishes and an excellent salad bar. The only niggle is that the morning water for tea was never hot enough and that you had to purchase a drink with your evening meal - and I don't mean alcoholic drinks! The indoor olympic sized pool was dated but excellent for swimming, however, this is being demolished and replaced by a large outdoor pool and a smaller indoor one - to be completed spring 2007. We have seen the plans and believe that next year this will be an even better hotel. The hotel entertainment was not too good but the night life around the harbour was lively and only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The people were friendly and helpful. There are numerous stall holders around the harbour and you can browse at leisure without fear of being hassled as is the case in so many other countries. There are lots of trips available at very reasonable prices and well worth going on. Overall we had a really enjoyable holiday and would highly recommend this hotel and the island of Hvar."
