10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
Great find in a great city
"Ditto all the other reviews but I thought I'd add my bit. This place proved to be better than expected. The lovely kitchen and lounge with TV and free pc to check emails was a bonus plus the view from the balcony was stunning. I was a bit worried about the location but it really isnt an issue in Dubrovnik - everything is so close and Ante seemed to go over and above by offering to drop us at places anyway. The buses are so easy. A few top tips:- 1) Spagetteria Toni - Lovely food 2) Best photo shots are from the balcony in reception of the Excelsior Hotel. 3) The views from the cafe at the top of the cable car and then get the cable car down. Ante will take you up there. 4) Watching the sunset from Boza or even better the Lobby bar at the President hotel 5) Do the Elaphiti island cruise. Very relaxing Hope that helps."

a real hidden gem with lovely sea view
"I decided to stay in this Guesthouse as it was voted in the Top 3 for Europe on another website. And I'm lucky I did. The place has everything you need. An extremely helpful Host who provides u with all you need to know and much more. He can also provide you with insider stories about the events of the nineties. The place is 1' from the bus stop which takes you to the Old Town in 10 minutes. its also conveniently close to the Port and the Main Bus Terminal from which you are picked up free of charge! (Internet and satellite TV are free too). Except if you want extreme luxury (in which case you better go to the Hilton Imperial), this is the place to be for your holiday in Dubrovnik! Will come again!!"

A lovely apartment
"We stayed in the apartment for four days, The owner had left water and juice in the fridge for us when we arrived. He was very helpful over the few days that we stayed there. Always offering advice on restaurants, bars, trips, maps etc. Anything he reccomended was fabulous. He picks you up from the bus/ferry free of charge.I would reccomend this apartment."

Amazingly clean with the best host I've encountered
"This place is wonderful! It's a short bus ride from Old Town but that is outweighed by the cleanliness, amazing fully equipped kitchen/lounge area with internet and the most welcoming host, Ante, who collected us from our 7am ferry and dropped us off for a 6am bus ride as well as driving us to the fortress outside of town. Can't recommend highly enough and would definitely go back again."

You will NOT better this place!
"Bet your place is not as clean as this - if its better then you have a cleaning fetish!! Every aspect of this place is perfect - the room at the front is almost designer level. Everything almost seems new -perfect tiles, shiny showers (tolitries included), immaculate dining area, massive fridge, - it goes on and on! Not so close to old city but that turned out to be positive as Dubrovnik is manic busy. Catch a No8 bus and you are back in a few mins. The owner Antin is a real gem - cannot do enough for you. He will pick you up from bus station. DO NOT BE PERSUADED BY TOUTS TO GO ELSEWHERE OR THAT THEY ARE IN FACT ANTIN - YOU WILL END UP PAYING MORE PLUS TAXES - HE DESERVES YOUR BUSINESS."

Amazing stay at Guesthouse S&L
"We loved our stay here! Ante the owner is fantastic - he picked us up from the bus station, he sat down with us and gave us some great tips about where to eat in Dubrovnik, what to see, and how to get there. One day he even took us and some other guests up to the Fort on the top of the hill in his car and gave us a guided tour. The rooms are very comfortable and clean - we had a balcony with a view of the harbour. The bathroom is out in the hallway but we had it to ourselves while we were there. The B&B has good kitchen facilities where you can cook your own food and it has free internet. The B&B is located in the suburbs rather than in the old town, but there are regular buses to the old town from out the front of the B&B (the bus only takes 10minutes or so to get to the old town, otherwise you can walk - it takes about 40minutes). We definitely recommend it."

A wonderful experience.
"There is only one place to start with a review of S & L Guesthouse and that is with the owner, Ante. You could not find a more friendly, helpful and accommodating host. From the moment you arrive, he goes out of his way to make you welcome, and nothing feels like too much trouble. The guesthouse is quite tucked away, but if you call ahead, you'll get simple directions. We didn't and got a little lost, but fortunately, Ante came and found us and walked us back to the guesthouse. That said, it is in a great location for buses into the old town. If you do stay here, and Ante offers to take you up to the old fort overlooking the town, make sure you take him up on this offer. The fort is now a museum, chronicling the 90s conflict in Dubrovnik, and Ante will be your personal tour guide, giving you an insider's view of the devastating events in this beautiful city. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Croatia, adding depth and understanding of the recent troubles to a wonderful holiday. Stay here. You'll not regret it."

"This hostel is the best hostel we have ever stayed in. Ante, the man who runs the hostel is more than nice. He offers pick up service from the bus terminal because his mentality is that "he doesn't like it when his customers walks". He also dropped us off at the bus terminal really early in the morning when we left the hostel. We got the nicest room of the hostel were we had a wonderful view from our balcony. It was amazing!! I really recommend this hostel. It will surely enhance you visit to Dubrovnik!!"

Friendly owner, lovely location, perfect
"This guesthouse was the first one I stayed in, in Croatia and it was one of the best, the owner is lovely and came and picked us up from the airport, telling us about the history and surrounding area. He used to put figs and grapes in the kitchen when we got back to the guesthouse and would always be around if we had any questions. The rooms were nice and comfortable and the shared bathroom was always clean, it even had a washing machine if we needed to use it. The surrounding area was nice, although we mostly spent time in the centre of Dubrovnik, its quite a walk, but nice on a balmy evening."

One of the Best!
"Put simply, we loved the place. Yes, the rooms are basic, but they still have a charm to them and have everything you need. The are spotlessly clean, have great A/C, good cooking facilities, hot showers.....what else do you need really??! Ante is a wonderful host and couldn't be more helpful. Picked us up from the bus station, gave us an endless amount of information and always had a smile! He also gave us a tour up at the old fort, which was facinating. A great view looking over the harbour/dock as well. Highly recommended!"
