A great place to stay
"I've finally got around to writing this review and better late than never as they say! We stayed at this lovely Villa in September and had a great time. Geoff and Helen are the nicest people you could meet and look after their guests so well, nothing was too much trouble. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The apartment is in a good location and an easy walk into the town.
Geoff and Helen took us to a lovely restaurant in the hills and their local knowledge is first class. We had a great evening and even watched the sunset on the way from a place that would have been very hard to find by ourselves.
Thanks for making our stay perfect and hopefully we will return one day for another holiday.

The best place to stay in Cavtat
"Oh my god! Fantastic we stayed with Helen annd Goeff at Villa Ivy, what a treat fantastically done out , all mod cons with that little bit of extra. Nothing was to much trouble for the British born couple what ever you needed was sorted out. If you want the best ever holiday look no further than this magical villa. One note, book early to avoid dissapointment as this place gets reserved vey quickly."

5 Star Hotel in a Villa
"We have stayed in self catering accomodation in Cavtat since 2004. Last year we discovered Villa Ivy.
We were picked up from the airport by the owners Geoff and Helen. Arrived at the villa within 15 mins. The apartment contained everything you could wish for and more! Views from the bedroom looking out to Dubrovnik and from the kitchen to the mountains and a great swimmmming pool , this was a real bonus. We asked for a wooden spatula so we didn't damage the pans , it appeared the next morning. Everthing was there so you could cook anything from roast to toast, there is even a dishwasher so no washing upto do,even dishwasher tablets were provided.
The fridge was stocked with food and drink , freshly picked salad from their garden everthing you could want ,so we did'nt need to go shopping, and could have a relaxing drink on arrival.
The apartment was spotless .Geoff and Helen seem to have thought of everthing from umbrellas, incase it rained, DVDs and books which could be borrowed, beach towels for the pool and they even lent us a mobile phone incase we needed to contact them.
The pool was great ,had plenty of sunbeds and shady areas to keep out midday sun.The balcony was great toenjoy a lovely view of coastline while sipping a glass of chilled wine.
Geoff and Helen invited us for a drink in their apartment, and gave us lots of imfomation about the area.
We stayed for 9days and were looked after like royalty. We loved it so much we have already booked again for 2010. In our view Villa Ivy is 5Star accomodation and would not hesitate to recomend it ."

If you want a 5 star place to say for minimul cost...stay here!!
"I decided to stay here after a months backpacking in Italy, wanting to have some relaxation time after travelling from hostel to hostel, with minimul comfort.
Villa Ivy definetlly delivered, setting the tone instantly with Geoff and Helen picking me up from the airport and welcoming me to the apartment where i received a welcome pack. This included all the necessities including bread, milk, cheese, eggs and the all importan beer!!!. Geoff and Helen were excellent hosts, offering help whenever was needed including lifts, information about the area and the best restaurants and also the best deals. They also got me discounts on many of the places I ate!!! Nothing was too much trouble for them, making me feel like incredibly welcome at home.
My apartment was spotless, with a huge comfortable bed, with its own kitchen and luxurious bathroom. The balcony also sold it to me with amazing views of the sea and Dubrovnik. I felt like royalty!!!!
The pool was also an added bonus, letting me relax by it whenever I wanted with views of the mountain and the sea. However, the sea is just as inviting as to get to Cavtat it is a 10 minute walk, but it is all down hill which never bothered me and it was around 50p to get the bus back to the top!!
I would definetly be going back, as I am hoping to go again this summer. This was all down to the amazing comfort in the apartment, the great views and location but most of all the hospitality of Geoff and Helen who could never do enough for you.
Oh and whilst I was there they were buying scooters to rent out to people who came to the apartments!! Great for nipping about places, especially for the bread in the morning!!!"

a great place to stay for a relaxing holiday
"villa ivy is still less than a year old and the rooms are all in great condition, nicely designed with comfortable beds and crisp white sheets. Each appartment has a balcony and a good kitchen/lounge for making breakfast/lunch.
When you arrive the owners (Geoff and Helen) pick you up from the airport and that sets the tone - nothing is too much trouble for them. They leave you a 'welcome pack' which starts you off with milk, butter, salad, cheese, eggs, bread, wine, beer and a few more bits i have probably forgotten .... the restaurants in Cavtat are too good to cook at home for dinner! They also recommend/will book some great places to eat and get you discounts on most of them!
The swimming pool is great to lie around and there is plenty of room.
There is a bus stop outside the villa, that goes a few times an hour into Cavtat (c.£0.70 e/w)and also direct to Dubrovnic (£1.50 each way) which is a must. I would recommend getting the boat to Dubrovnick for the views and the bus to return for a different set of stunning views around sunset.
When we saw all the glowing reviews we though, where are the 'buts' ... so, if we had to have a but :- very few with regards to the place, the location means a 15 min walk into Cavtat centre, which is not difficult and the walk is a good way to work off the amzing food and icecream... and the bus is always there if you need it. Cavtat is the perfect place to be based if you have a family/are a couple and are looking for a relaxing holiday - Dubrovnick is the place to be if you want more of a nightlife at weekends.
Would we return? - of course and this place is head over heals the best place to stay if you are not wanting to spend silly money on B&B or stay in the big hotel chains. Overall Geoff and Helen really make this place special, they were so welcoming and helpf"

Couldn`t be better!
"The owners, Helen & Geoff, gave us the best welcome we have ever experienced. Our family of 5 have travelled a lot, but never had a better place to spend our holiday. The owners did everything to make these holidays become the best. Their local knowlegde and service was a great advantage for us. The owner even took us for a ride in their car to show us marvelous places in the surrounding area.
The apartment gave us more than we exspected/ needed. Big rooms, comfortable beds, air-conditions, dishwasher, washingmashine, satelitt TV, DVD (library),fridge&freezer all of best quality. On holidays we sometimes feel that we live "like students", but here we lived like "kings". They even had egg-cups for our scandinavian "eating-habits". Every morning Helen or Geoff offered us delitious vegetables from their green garden. Best tomatoes, onions, salad, quecumber etc.
I`ve never seen a cleaner pool, and with just 3 apartments in the Villa Ivy, we seldom had to chear the pool with others. On hot days we didn`t even care to go to the beach, because there was a pleasent cool brise around Villa Ivy. So we give full score on "Location". Also because of the nice view, sunsets and best neighbourhood. Even on holidays we need to walk a little, so the distanse to Cavtat habour/ senter was okey. We even hiked the local mountains on well marked paths. Beath-taking view from the top. We do hope to visit Villa Ivy again."

A Blissful stay in Cavtat
"What a welcome! Geoff greeted us with a big smile and showed us to our apartment which was absolutely fantastic! Very modern, cool and comfortable with a large balcony terrace that has one of the most stunning views I have ever seen.
There was no need to bring initial supplies as Geoff had provided us with a welcome pack of food, beer, wine, fruit and salad from his own garden! There was also no need to bring beach towels as they were provided too. The pool is wonderfully clean and a great place to chill, if you don't want to go down into the village.
Geoff could not do enough for us. He even provided us with a mobile phone in case we needed his service at any time. He recommended all the best restaurants and places to go.
Overall we had a brilliant stay from start to finish. Geoff' is a true host with the most and goes out of his way to make sure his guests are taken care of. He made our holiday one to remember. Villa Ivy is excellent value, stay here!"

"Ivy, wonderful Ivy...."
"Geoff and Helen were just plain great. The 2 bed apartment was real comfy, clean and quiet and I slept like a log. The kitchen was superb and the views from the villa are fantastic. We certainly felt very chilled-out for weeks afterwards. The welcome pack was a great idea as we arrived on a Sunday and the shops are closed for basic food stuffs but Geoff and Helen had them all there for us along with his fresh organic veg he has there growing! The pool was great and because it's a private villa there, it really did feel like it was our own for the week. Geoff and Helen know all the best places in Cav Tat and introduces you to them as well which is ideal so there really is no hassle finding your way around in Cav Tat, getting a good meal, things to do, and soaking up the sun..."

Absolutely 5*Stars - Perfect!
"Villa Ivy is an absolutely gorgeous apartment villa situated just on the outside of Cavtat Town. The standards of the apartments are 5 star.
Upon arriving we were greeted by our hosts, Geoff and Helen, who live on the top floor apartment and are always available for advice and help if needed. They had even filled our fridge with fresh meats and veg, bread and milk etc, which was well needed and appreciated after our long flight.
The facilities and cleanliness were perfect (see the pictures attached). We stayed in the 2 bed apartment, which gave us plenty of room for 2. However, the 1 bed has ample room for 2 people and this apartment overlooks the pool. Our apartment had a kitchen which leads out to a balcony where you can watch the glorious sunset. You can just see the edge of the swimming pool too.
We stayed for 10 days and our sheets and towels were changed at our convenience. At all times, Geoff and Helen were flexible and friendly.
The apartment is slightly out of the town and it takes a 15min walk down to the main promenade. We didn't mind this though as it was a lovely walk. (Due to the hill though, we always got the bus or taxi back). Note - taxi's are very few and far between and cost more than the bus, but worth it if you're out late. At the time of our holiday, Geoff had mentioned they are looking to purchase mopeds - this would be a great asset to this villa, as you've no need for a car, but a wee scooter to get you up and down to the town would be perfect.
The main town is quite small, perfect for a couple looking to relax, enjoy excellent food and wine and the local chat from the friendly waiters. I would not recommend it if you are looking for nightlife, disco's, late night bars etc - as there aren't any. Best to go to Dubrovnik for that. But we're both in our late 20's and we loved the place. There are also a few shops in the main promenade, but they are mostly tourist shops. Again, if you are looking for specialists shops - head to Dubrovnik. One evening we got the taxi boat to Dubrovnik at 5pm and then got a taxi back late around 3pm. Perfect for a night out and Dubrovnik is well worth visiting - but be warned - visit when there are no cruise ships in town, otherwise you won't be able to move! You can see from your balcony if there are any cruise ships in Dubrovnik as it is in the distance, far across the sea!
We spent most days either lying by the pool or by the lovely peninsula down in the town, where you can climb into the gorgeous water by steps. The water is so so clean and clear and beautiful. Also, there are a couple of waterside bars/snack shops for your lunch. However, you are always a 2 min walk away from any of the excellent restaurants on the main promenade, where you can watch the large yachts bobbing in the sea and enjoy the local chat from all the local waitors. A perfect location for a young couple wanting to relax and enjoy each others company.
Overall, we had an excellent holiday, the apartments are first class and having now experienced Cavtat it is clear that there is nothing to compare with Villa Ivy. It is the only villa that has a pool in the whole area and the standards are on par with Hotel Croatia which is 5*stars and 3-4 times the price.
I would definitely recommend Villa Ivy - have a look at their website and contact them direct for best prices and advice. 5*Stars!!
ps. I believe there's also web access - so if you wanted you could bring your laptop - but we're not the type to work on holiday - a perk for some though, I'm sure.

Just Fabulous....nothing was too much trouble
"Well there is so much to say about our stay with Helen and Geoff in the Villa Ivy.
We simply had a wonderful time.
Our plane arrived a unusually early at the airport, but Helen and Geoff were there to meet us. We were taken to the villa and shown around, everything was very relaxed from the start. The apartment was furinished to the highest quality, we wanted for nothing and there was what i would describe as a "proper kitchen" that you do not get in all self-catering places.
We were given several recommendations for where to eat in the centre of Cavtat and all lived up to them. We didnt have a bad meal all week.
The Villa is a lovely 10 minute walk (downhill on the way there) from the centre of Cavtat. We liked to walk down and get a bus back if it was either too hot or we couldnt be bothered......but its not too much effort to walk back.
Nothing really was too much trouble when we wanted to go to Dubrovnik Geoff booked the boat for us, and again when we hired a car he booked that and it really helped that he had the car delivered to the villa and then they picked it up from the villa so we did not have to worry about getting it back to the hire people.
We only went to Dubrovnik once, we did want to go again but it was really hot, hotter in the city than it is in Cavtat so thats something to bear in mind...though it did not put us off and it gives us reason to go back again!
When we hired the car we went to Mostar, it took around 3 hours to get there, but it was well worth a visit.
The other days we realxed, and i mean truly relaxed. Cavtat seems to just have the right mix of people, and the right amount of bars, cafes etc. The beaches were never very busy, and the pool at the villa was great, incredibly clean thanks to the hard work of Helen and Geoff.
We were so sad to leave and will be sure to return!! Just a great place, very relaxing and we wanted for nothing....geoff even managed for us to watch our beloved manchester city on the tv!!! Just fabulous!"
