10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Having been to Cavtat four years ago and fallen in love with the place, we decided that a few nights there at the start of a touring holiday were a must. We were looking for accommodation close to restaurants, and Villa Andro couldn't be any closer! I don't think anywhere could give better value for money, as the location is perfect and the rooms clean and comfortable with great views over the nearby bay. Andrusko, the owner, was very helpful even before we arrived, offering to arrange a taxi from the airport for us (another plus is that Cavtat is only 10 minutes by car from Dubrovnik airport, much closer than Dubrovnik itself!) and also answering my questions about journey times to our next destination. When we arrived in the evening , Andrusko invited us to sit in his beautiful secluded garden under the trees to share a welcoming drink of his home made fruit brandy. The following day I thought that my holiday was ruined when I broke a front tooth, but Andrusko came to the rescue, taking us to his own dentist at the medical centre where my tooth was expertly stuck back in at no charge! You would not get that kind of service at a 5 star hotel! If we ever have another holiday in this part of Croatia, which I am sure we will, we would definitely return to Villa Andro."

Simply The Best
"We have just returned from one of the most enjoyable and relaxing holidays you could wish for providing all you desire is a peaceful time in a beautiful setting.
Villa Andro is in the perfect location in Cavtat and the hosts Andrusko and Tania could not make you feel more welcome, there was always a cup of coffee, or something stronger!, waiting for us when we returned from exploring the region and Andruskoâs recommendations for where to go next or where to eat proved excellent.
The villa is split into 2 separate private Apartments, each with 2 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms, Sitting room with Sat TV and Kitchen, both have superb views over Cavtat Bay and Harbour, which is literally right outside the terrace door. All the rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped.
Cavtat itself is very quaint with plenty of good restaurants and tavernas and there is a superb bakery 2 minutes walk from the villa, in fact everything you need, bank, post office, cafes etc. are all within 10 minutes walk and the place has a very intimate quality.
You can be as laid back as you like but if you want something more lively there are good boat and local bus links into Dubrovnik and plenty of excursions to the surrounding Islands and countries. The area also has marked walking and cycling routes, if you can drag yourself away from the Villa terrace!
We will certainly be going back to Cavtat, and we would highly recommend the Villa Andro apartments."

Lovely apartment, in beautiful bay
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Andro. The double room (we stayed on top floor) was very clean and spacious with good storage. Bathroom was separate (next door) but private. Room had a dressing table, with a mirror and a plug socket for hairdryer which makes a pleasant change to some hotels! Air conditioning was a godsend. The view from the window was out of this world. We loved Cavtat that much we extended our stay there. The owner Andrusco, is very friendly and enjoys chatting with the guests over a home made fruit brandy, in the shade of the fig trees, overlooking the bay. In fact writing this review makes me want to book a flight back there!"

Great place, location & family owned; reasonable price
"Cavtat should be at the top of your list for a nice town very close to Dubrovnik.
You cannot beat the location, right next to the water in Cavtat, and close to nice peninsulas with beautiful walks and beaches. Cavtat has 1 main street, pedestrians only, about 50 meters long that connects to a small harbor and marina with crystal clear water and plenty of nice places for a swim. Villa Andro is right at the junction of the town's main street and the water.
We chatted with the owner Andro and his son a couple times, they are warm and very hospitable hosts.
The property offers accommodation choices for single travelers, couples, or families, with options for kitchen as well. Only minor drawback is the bathroom is not attached to the room, but it is clean and modern, and there is a sink & mirror in the room. In fact all the rooms and bathrooms look brand new."

"We booked a week at the Villa Andro after reading the reviews on this site and I have to say we were not disappointed. We had a lovely and very clean apartment with a balcony overlooking the sea, as well as air conditioned bedrooms, 2 bathrooms & kitchen. When staying at the Villa Andro you also have use of the beautiful (& shaded) garden as well as the sun terrace. Andrusko (owner) and his family were the perfect hosts, offering welcome drinks on arrival and providing help & information if required.
The location of the Villa Andro makes it a perfect choice. It is right in the heart of Cavtat so you are close to all the cafes and restaurants as well as being close to the bus stop and harbour (where boats provide very regular trips over to Dubrovnik and neighbouring islands).
There are some lovely restaurants in Cavtat, our particular favourites were the Ivan (near the bus stops) and the Toranj.
The Villa Andro is the perfect place to stay when in Cavtat - and we certainly hope to return."

Loved the atmosphere
"This is a wonderful place to stay in Cavtat, being especially close to Dubrovnik. We booked the room by email to Villa Andro, using his personal website and by searching google. He responded very quickly, and was able to discuss matters of parking and location. (http://www.dubrovnikportal.com/villa-andro) .
The location is excellent, being at the seaside and at the heart of Cavtat. The apartments are just behind a little restaurant when you walk onto TrumbiÄev (put 15), it is literally around the corner. So if you pass the goverment building right next to the apartment, you have walked too far.
There is also a boat ride to Dubrovnik during the summer months (80 kuna return), otherwise there is a bus (24 kuna).
The room is comfortable and quiet. There are two washrooms. Each washroom has a shower/bath, toilet and sink.
The town itself has about 10 restaurants, with the standard fare of meat/seafood/pizza. There seems to be a classier restaurants also dotted around the village.
There are also lovely walks and of course no issue about swimming! Watch out for the sea urchins though (get some shoes). I got pricked a couple of time, so I learnt my lesson."

"I had the pleasure to spend a week, both last October and now in April, at Villa Andro in Cavtat with some friends.
Though the weather is a bit unstable in these two months, it was an unforgettable week. Villa Andro is situated right by the water, only a few steps from the restaurants, grocery, bakery, postoffice, bank etc. If you, for some reason, don't want to "climb the hill", this is the perfect place to stay. Andrusko and his family is also a pleasant aquaintence to make. He will always make sure that everything is in accordance with your expectings. If, by any reason it is not, he will do his best to fix it right away.
I can strongly recommend Villa Andro for your stay in Cavtat.

Going back to fantastic Villa Andro in Cavtat
"Cavtat is a jewel in Southern part of Croatian coast, just a short drive or boat ride from Dubrovnik. It has a unique geography with two finger like peninsulas and the old town right in the middle.
The town center is a gorgeous old Dalmatian town with traditional stone houses and restaurants serving delicious local food. The "fingers" are made of rock and pine tree forest, and the North one has a beautiful little beach at its tip called "Little Rock" (10 minutes walk from Villa Andro).
We have been there before in the 80's and ever since it has been our measurement unit, our yardstick against which every other place was measured, never getting the same mark.
We found Villa Andro on Internet, and got attracted by a photo showing an old gate in a stone wall - "we want to enter and exit this gate every day" was immediate reaction.
I contacted the owner via e-mail and made all the arrangements without any hassle. Upon arrival, we realized that the location and charm of this beautiful house and garden was highly understated. Villa Andro is situated right in the town center, in the first row of houses only 15m from the sea. You do actually enter and exit through this wonderful gate! The house was newly renovated, very clean and comfortable. There are two rooms on each of two floors facing the sea, with this special view across the bay with ancient walls of Dubrovnik clearly visible in the distance. Each floor has a very handy kitchen that allows for meals to be prepared at home if you do not feel like going out. The garden is also very special - again, simple, understated, with a couple of dining tables in the shade of old trees.
Our hosts Andrusko, Tanya and Sandro were very helpful and worm people. Always there if we needed recommendation for dining out, or company for a pleasant chat over the glass of wine. Each morning, a bowl of freshly picked figs from their garden was waiting for us in the kitchen.
At the time our girls were 5 and 8 years old, and they loved the house, the town, the beaches and our boat trips to Dubrovnik.
We are going back - a two-week holiday in August this year is booked. We got the whole floor with a spare room to accommodate our friends from Canada who have been listening so much about Villa Andro and Cavtat, that they decided to be our guests.
If you our looking for an authentic Dalmatian town without commercial chain hotels and restaurants, with understated but high quality and charming accommodation at the best location in town - we highly recommend Villa Andro."

Villa Andro many happy returns
"With so many places to visit in the world and only one weekâs foreign holiday available to us per annum, we seldom go back to the same location twice.
However, this summer we will choose to spend our weekâs annual holiday in Cavtat for the fourth time in a row. Not only that, but we will chose to stay in the Villa Andro for the fourth time â once you have discovered somewhere really good you never tire of returning.
Cavtat is an absolutely idyllic place, complete with pine forests encircling the glistening, blue (and very warm in the summer months) sea. The bay is generally very clean and it is possible to hop into the water at almost any point along the seafront (avoiding the celebritiesâ floating palacesâ and yachtsâ berthing area) and bask in the warm waters surrounded by iridescent little fish. Our 6 year old spent five uninterrupted hours in the water one day! There is an excellent choice of family friendly restaurants serving fresh, local produce within a 10-minute walk of the Villa Andro. Fresh fish dishes are in abundance and there are really good pizza and salad places to eat. We found that our children, all aged under 12, loved eating in all of the restaurants we frequented and found dishes which they loved. Probably one of the most relaxing of these restaurants is actually on the doorstep of the Villa Andro. There, you can relax in the shade of the trees and listen to the lapping of the waves on the front wall of the outdoor area of the restaurant while you eat or have an aperitif.
The town itself is a little jewel. Everything is within a 10-minute walk from the seafront be it the historic route through the old town, the various bathing places, galleries, churches, bank and post office. There is an excellent outdoor area with stalls selling artisan arts and crafts as well as many bijoux gift and clothes shops lining the seafront. A vegetable market area, where you can buy locally grown produce, a bakery and a grocery store are conveniently located near the post office if you wish to self-cater.
There are beautiful wooded walks extending out of the town core leading to more secluded and breathtaking bathing spots. One of these walks leads to the Mausoleum and graveyard overlooking Cavtat that is so tranquil and has the most unbelievable view in the evening time.
The Villa Andro is an ideal place to stay in Cavtat. It is centrally located and set within a private enclosed Mediterranean Garden just off the seafront. The main balconies face the sea and you can observe the progress of launches, yachts and paddleboats (great fun these, a must try for the younger and more energetic) across the bay. The Villa is bright, airy, spacious and very clean. There is a generous sized kitchen, which is great when you are holidaying with three young children. Andrusko, Tanya and family are the most pleasant hosts that it is possible to find. We enjoy their hospitality each time â they are always available for advice or just a chat to pass the time of day, if you wish.
Now you know why we keep on going back for more!"
