20 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We had read so much about this place and we were not dissapointed. The hotel is so charming and the gardens in front and behind it are beautiful! The rooms are air conditioned and the beds very comfortable. It is only a small walk to the seaside and the little village of Bol.
Christine, the owner, gave us some very good tips for nice restaurants. We went to a lovely restaurant overlooking a bay with a beautiful view on an old monastery and had the best seafood ever! We stayed here 3 nights for our honeymoon and had the most romantic time! I can recommend it to everyone!"

It really is beautiful!
"Having read the reviews of this place I didn't want to get too excited, but it really is lovely. It is a short walk away from the harbour where I think all of the boats come into Bol, and close to many of the local restaurants and bars. We were immediately impressed with the place; the gardens are beautiful, the room was large and clean with lovely thick towels and comfy bed! Breakfast was lovely too and the staff very helpful. We cannot fault it."

gorgeously private house, professionally run.
"Brac was the first island we did in Croatia and we didn't know what to expect after booking Villa Giardino on the internet.
It made it all the more of a wonderful surprise! The house itself is beautiful, so well maintained with perfectly lush gardens and a peaceful breakfast terrace where all guests are treated to delicious home made jam, toast, scrambled eggs and cereals.
I hesitate to call it a hotel, as it feels more like you are a guest in someone's private mansion. We had our own section at the top of the house, with a large bedroom and an even bigger bathroom.
On arrival, the German lady owner gave us detailed maps of Bol and pointed out supermarkets (one is literally a minute away), places to visit (aside from Zlatni Rat, you MUST go to the monastery, ask if she doesnt tell you where, but it overlooks a stunning secluded beach, perfect for swimming) and all the restaurants in town- including ones to avoid! Our favourite was Mendula, a restaurant set back from town on the hill- a 6 min walk from the villa. It came recommended and rightly so, great atmosphere, unpretentious and lovely staff serving fresh fish (go for the seabass if its in season- so yum!) and pasta dishes.
We were only in Bol for two nights, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay, more so because of our experience at Villa Giardino. I would go back in a second.
(something worth knowing if you are planning on going to Hvar like we were- there's an early catamaran on a tuesday i think from brac, check with jadrolinija website. The ferry system is enough to drive you nuts!)"

A little gem in Bol
"Lovely little place a short walk from the port. Well kept, robust austria quality. Steep steps to some rooms. Lovely owner."

"I can not say enough about this place. I wish Bol weren't difficult to get to from the US, otherwise I would return again and again."

A wonderful place to relax in Bol!
"My wife and I spent four nights at Villa Giardino while visiting Croatia on our honeymoon. We had originally booked only two nights, however, after our first day we decided that we needed to extend our stay.
The staff, while seemingly overworked, were absolutely lovely. The grounds were well kept and the rooms were clean and up-to-date. Each morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast on the terrace which included our choice of eggs and meat.
We felt that we were very well taken care of at Villa Giardino and would not hesitate to return!"

Exceptional Quality and Service
"Villa Giardino is truely a gem. The hotel is maintained to a very high standard, the attention to detail is excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive - can I say more.
Location is just right - set back from the busy harbour area by 200 m, so close enough to be able to walk out in the evenings.
The view from the front rooms is fantastic and the gardens are well maintained a place to relax.
I stay in loads of hotels and this I would rate among the best."

Erything you dream of for a perfect holiday
"We came back from croatia and particularly from Bol on the island of Brac just over 2 days ago. The setting of villa giardino is stunning just high enough on the hill so that the bedrooms have a view on the sea. We had bedroom 3 with a lemon tree below our window and a magnificent view. The rooms are sufficiently big and spotless. And for breakfast we had fruits, cheese, eggs, ham, cereal and bread. And a new pot of honey and fig jam from bol with your room number on it so that it will be just your pots for the lenght of your stay. Tv has channels in english, german and one in french and the rest in local language.
The garden is stunning, so green everywhere and you can sit there and rest whilst it is too hot to be at the beach.
From the hotel to zlatni rat, it is 20 / 25 minutes walking under a beautiful shaded path by pine trees right next to the beaches and the hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the harbour in the center of twn, but still sufficiently far so that you don't have the noise of it.
If you want a relaxing holiday in a peaceful environment and a beautiful setting in croatia, then this is the place to be."

Absolutely perfect! Beautiful garden paradise!
"As part of our 2-week honeymoon to Croatia and Sicily, we stayed in Bol at Villa Giardino for three of the nights. While we loved all of the hotels we picked (we studied them quite well before choosing), we felt that we could have stayed the whole trip at the Villa Giardino.
Bol itself is already a gem of a destination, but staying in such a beautiful garden Villa such as Giardino made it perfect. Beautiful gardens, including lemon trees, olives, figs, and every type of flower and tree surround the Villa and you can sit in any one of several terrace seating areas.
The owner, Christine, was a pleasure to deal with and Aida our host was perfectly accomodating. The breakfasts are wonderful, and the room was more than adequate. Our view was of the gardens, lemon tree, and sea!
The Villa is a 15 minute walk from Zlanti Rat, but there is a 5 minute water taxi ride should you desire. We didn't mind the walk at all, considering you spend a whole day doing nothing on a beach anyway! Food in Bol is amazing, especially if you like fish.
We can't wait to go back. Thank you Villa Giardino!"

So and so ...
"We stayed in Villa Giardino for one night, although we booked for 5 nights.
We changed our mind because we came with our car, by ferry and we needed a parking place. When we made the booking, we asked for it, the answer was that the villa has no private parking place but IN FRONT and IN THE BACK of the villa there are public parking places.
When we arrived, we discovered that the villa is on a slope of a hill, packed with other villas and houses, between narrow streets and the parking in the front of the villa was in reality just a small space in a corner of a street, which was already crowded with 2 other cars; when we asked for a parking space, the lady owner indicated us a place which has clear signs of "no parking" ....
(we walked to the seaside, found another apart-hotel which had a generous courtyard for parking and also was near the seaside and moved the next day).
Other funny thing about villa giardino was the breakfast: it was just a bread & butter with 2 pots of jam and honey, each them having the number of the room on it!!! Maybe others will say: "How organised & efficient!", well, we just think it was very cheap ... for 80 EUR/room/night.
Our room was clean, but had the windows to the backyard, just in front of a bush - so it was almost no sunlight getting into. At night it was quite noisy due to the cars passing by a near street.
Also please be advised that the villa is placed on a slope, in the middle of village of Bol and near the marina; however the seaside and the "Zlatny rat" are quite far away -20-30 minutes walking, so you may have a long walk to get there...
Another traveller wrote about antique prints on the walls and sculptures everywhere... its' true, but please be advised that at least one is quite direct and indecent (the one at the beginning of the stairs) ...we made fun of it, but other could consider it inappropriate in a hotel for families with children.
In summary, villa indeed had a lovely garden and it is well organised, but we wanted something near the beach and parking place, so from this point of view, for us it was no good."

5 is not enough
"Villa Giardino is the missing link between the warmness of a B&B and the charme of a small boutique hotel.
I stayed 5 nights with my wife, and this is by far the best B&B we ever visited, and in my opinion the best place to stay in Croatia.
It was a memorable experience, that will last in our hearts forever.
The owner is a gentle austrian lady, that keeps Villa Giardino like a work of art; in fact there are many antique prints on the walls, sculptures everywhere, and you can recognize in every detail the greatest taste.
The location is ok too, 4 minutes on foot to the port of Bol, where the taxi boats takes you in 5 minutes to the wonderful Zlatni Rat, a natural wonder of a peeble peninsula, unique in the world.
You can have breakfast on a relaxing terrace, shaded by the leaves, and delight yourself with home-made jams and everything you dream of.
The village of Bol is a pleasure, with some good fish restaurants (try the Gust ina narrow street near the place and the Laguna just 1 meter from the sea)."

A slice of paradise!
"We thoroughly enjoyed this small friendly hotel, only minutes away from the hustle and bustle, yet worlds away in terms of peace and quiet. Our 2 rooms were large and airy, superbly cleaned every day, and we loved the individual furnishings and beautiful art and sculpture everywhere."
