Helena Park Hotel

"I stayed at Helena Park hotel with 3 friends so we booked two rooms. the rooms wewe very big' comfotable beds and all the rooms have a porch. there are two pools which are very big and the poll ares is very pleasant. the food was very good. the location of the hotel is in sunny beach area and it also has a private beach - but in order to go to the center of Sunny beach you have to walk approximatly 10 - 15 minutes - which is close enough to the center and fae rnough from all the niuse and the mess.
I recommend to bring with you a towel because - they stuff w'ont give you an extra towel.
we had a great time spending there, it is absoulutly a 5 star hotel and after I talked with several people from other hotels it is definitely a great choice!!"

Can't wait to go back
"Just returned from a 10 day holiday at the Helena Park hotel with my parents, my sister and her boyfriend. It was the first time we went to Bulgaria and we were slightly wary of what it would be like. However, from the moment we arrived at the hotel at around 6am we were thurrily impressed. As we pulled up the automatic gates opened and the belle boy was waiting outside for us to take our suitcases in. Walking in, my first impression was that it was extremely grand. We checked in and were escorted to our rooms, which were very spacious and spotless. The cleaners worked around the clock every day and did a great job; towels and sheets in the room were changed regularly. Breakfast was 7:30-10:30 which we thought was reasonable as you were still able to get a decent amount of sleep. There were plenty of sunbeds and we had no problem getting them. In fact, at around 11am every day, we managed to get the same sunbeds throughout the whole holiday. I was curious about previous reviews saying that the pool was too cold, but once you're in there it's lovely and refreshing. Especially as while we were there, there was a heatwave and the temperature was in the 90s. The food was beautiful and there was a different variety every day. I especially loved the pizza and bacon that they did there. The staff were helpful and seemed to generally care about anything you might have to say. The waiters also couldn't do enough for you; having my drink poured for me made me feel like royalty! I would say it's a pity some of the foreign people there don't know how to queue. The hotel was in the quieter area of Sunny Beach, but it was just minutes away from the main strip where everything was going on. In a way it was nice being away from the busy nightlife because it wasn't noisy or rowdy when we were trying to sleep. We visited Nessebar, which I would recommend, as it had lots of lovely souvenir shops that were reasonably cheap to buy presents or keepsakes that were really original. You can catch the bus across the road to Nessebar for 2 lev per person (£1). There is also a supermarket just across the road. One bar that we went to several times is Gulliver's Cocktail Bar, which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel on the beachfront. You get your money's worth within the drinks there, and the music that they played was mostly English charts, much to our amusement. Most nights we went out onto the beach bars which had comfty seating and lovely views. The hotel entertainment was good of what we seen, and with the Helena Sands and Park being linked we had the option of both. The children's entertainment songs (mini disco) were extremely catchy and we found ourselves singing them all night, which was really funny. In fact, we became so attached to the songs that we ended up buying the CD to take home! Overall, this was a brilliant holiday; I didn't want to come home! Would I recommend this hotel? 100% definite yes! We're actually looking to go back next year, and I can't wait!"

value for money 10 out 10
"Positives: great food, lavish choice, pleasant waiters; clean rooms, fast change of towels, leave 2 levs on the TV you will have a super made up room; good clay courts, table tennis, fantastic park to hide from heat waves
Negatives: bad mannered Israelis accounting for 30% of the guests (you heard me right not Russians), too cold water in the pool for youngsters"

Exceptional Hotel Experience
"We just came back from Bulgaria and we had an amazing time. During our stay in Sunny Beach we are happy that we selected the Helena Park, it is a beautiful hotel with professional and courteous staff. We arrived by rental car, and yes there's free parking in a gated area. We were greeted by very friendly reception staff and were served champagne while waiting for our room. The rooms were nice, we didn't spend much time inside as we were on the beach most of the time. Don't bring beach towels from home as the hotel provides you with fresh towels free of charge. There is also a private beach area just for hotel guests and the chairs and umbrellas are also free of charge. The food was very good, I can't stress enough how good the food was. We stayed for 5 nights and every night the food was different and very tasty. The water was nice and warm and the beach was clean and soft. The night life in sunny beach was also great, very lively and full of people. Overall Bulgaria is an amazing country and is still very affordable."

Helena Park, worth paying the little extra
"Myself, my wife and her parents have just come back from 7 days at the Helena Park Hotel in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria.
We checked in at about 4 in the morning due to an overnight plane from Manchester, and straight away we were welcomed with drinks if we wished, and swift friendly service from the reception.Still managed to get up for breakfast, which was between 7.30 and 10.30.This is the first glimpse we had of just how much selection was on offer in the Moby Dick restaurant. There was a wide selection of hot foods, mainly standard British breakfast favourites, but fruits, a great choice of breads, along with a wide choice of spreads, and fruit juices and teas etc.
The rooms were cleaned every day unless you specified to the contrary with the door hanger, fresh towels and beds made as well as well stocked complimentary shampoo, shower gel and even a sewing kit just in case.
Every Monday to Saturday the amimation staff (entertainments staff), organised games and evening entertainment to keep those "on camp" amused.
The pool is spacious, but be warned, cold doesn`t quite cover it!! There is a barbeque grill at poolside, and the downstairs bar is within easy walk for a poolside drink. The towels you could hire with cards provided, and these could also be taken to the beach, which was a mere 200 yards away.
But its the little extras that make the difference, while we were there, my father in law celebrated his 61st birthday, and reception left a small gift in his room for when he came back. Two days later, and father and mother in laws Ruby wedding. We did ask the rep there if something could be mentioned, but the staff went much further than we hoped for.At evening meal, the restaurant staff brought a bottle of champers, a specialy set table and then one of the waiters came in with his guitar and serenaded them.
Never mind them being gobsmacked, me and my wife were as well.
Nothing too much trouble for the staff, who really looked like they wanted your stay to be special, and it most certainly was!!!
It might be a few pounds more than other places, but it`s well worth it!"

Just had a really relaxing holiday in Bulgaria
"Hi! Just recently returned from a week's holiday in Bulgaria. I have been reading reviews about Sunny Beach and it's hotels and found that some of them were quite negative which was a bit of a concern! My friend and I decided to go with an open mind and see what happened.
The Helena Park Hotel and the complex which it is situated in is lovely. Staff were polite and very helpful. Although some didn't speak good English, it was good enough for us to understand each other (and of course, was much better than my grasp of the local lingo!!)
The Hotel was clean, modern and the rooms were comfortable. Towels were changed daily and the bed linen was changed during our week's stay as well. There was a buffet menu for both breakfast and supper. The food was cooked by chefs behind the serving counter so you could see everything which was going on. The food was delicious and the selection brilliant. The Hotel was still busyish but there was always plenty table space and no long queues for food.
Outside the complex were lots of bars/ restaurants/ shops etc. The people involved with these were obviously very keen to get your attention and custom but were pleasant and polite even when you didn't take them up on their offer!
The beach was clean ( a bit pebbly so would wear some form of footwear) the water was clear and warm. We only went paddling but enjoyed doing it. Only saw one stranded jellyfish ( see more and bigger jellyfish at our local beach!).
We took the little 'train' down to the other end of Sunny Beach and got a glimpse of the how things were down there. It was run down and appeared to be a bit of a red light area. Maybe this part had been popular in the past and had gone out of favour? I don't know but wouldn't have liked to have stayed anywhere there.
We took a trip to see picturesque Bulgaria and found this really interesting. As far as value for money goes, it was worth every penny!
I have only positive comments to make about this holiday. We weren't there at peak holiday time and we could see that it would be very busy during that time. Although bars and shops were beginning to shut for the season there was still plenty to do and see (and buy!).
I hope the above helps someone to make their mind up about a possible holday in this resort.

Great if you want Sun, Sea, Sand, Shopping and a cheapie!!
"We went mid sept 09, we were very wary about the weather -according to other reviews and people we spoke to the week before was horrendous! We were very lucky but do be warned if you go at this time, the weather is very hit and miss. Never the less, we had 28C heat at least 3 times in the week and the other times was warm but cloudy. We came back with a tan. Night flights from Doncaster were really tiring! Be Warned!! If you go premier with Thomson, you don't particularly get much for being premier. At Doncaster they don't have the promised express check-in, we had to wait in the mile long que to check in. Got on the coach, first off as promised but with being awake for god knows how many hours we were desperate for a drink of some sort, nothing was offered when we got to the hotel. The bel boy brings your luggage- Oh by the way, make sure you have good locks on your baggage because my husbands got opened on the way there and his sunglasses were missing and on the way back mine looked like it had be overturned but nothing missing. Anyway- the bel boy is meant to tell you that there is refreshments on offer in the reception area so PLEASE PLEASE ask!!! The Helena Sands is the sister hotel, it does appear nicer than the park and DEFINATELY has a hotter pool and better views but apperently the food in the park is nicer than the sands. We paid for a superior room, don't get me wrong the room is a whole lot bigger with a sofa and bigger balcony and interconnecting rooms but is definately not worth £70 extra. We had a view of a tree too!! No Sun on our balcony at any time. The pool was FREEZING!! But beach was always hot, can't explain it but don't go round the pool if you like the sun, there is a lot of trees surronding this hotel and really blocks the sun. You can use the sands indoor pool, but are not allowed to sunbathe round there outdoor pool or go in it! Also, something they don't tell you, there is a hot tub with jacuzzi near the rear of the sands, its free. We found out on the last day. We went half board, the food is gorgeous, always hot and fresh. The breakfast caters for everyone, about 10 different breads thats always stocked up, full english, salad, meat, cereal and fruit. Can't fault it! The evening meal was just as nice. A lot of choice, massive salad bar with alllsorts on it, bread is really nice. Pizza, pasta, carvery meat, at least 6 vegetables and a wide range of main meals. The desserts are something else!! No dicky tummy for any of my party. If you like sun (In the summer months!) Sea, Sand ( Bit rocky, but nice) and the most array of shopping, then yopu'll truely love sunny beach. Its not somewhere where you are going to find aincient ruins and fantastic sights but if it is still the lev next year I will defo go back!! We spent £120 on ed hardy, christain audigier, g star, rolex, jacob and co and louis vuitton!! The fakes are amazing!! Beer 40p pint, cocktails BOGOF, meals ok but nothing spectacular. Get yourself a cheap deal, take £200 spending money per week, stay in the helena park and you'll come home with change. Just hope it doesn't go to the euro."

Lovely Hotel but more targeted for the over 55's!
"Just arrived back fron the above hotel.
This hotel is stunning to look at, the rooms are large and all areas are very clean. The restaurant is large and you have the option of being able to eat outside. there are two sittings one at six one at eight!
The food was excellently presented but was always lukewarm. (as a Chef and a Food Hygiene Tutor, I am horrified about this) Not once did I have something that was piping hot. The bain marie was hot but the halogen lamps didnt seem to work very well.
Also I think they put food into cold dishes which certainly didnt help!
I did complain to the Thomson rep and she was going to speak to the Manager. I came back with a very dodgy tummy....now I dont know whether it was the luke warm sausages I had or whether it could have been from a few days before.
The other gripes I have is the pool was absolutely freezing, so cold in fact people were not using it at all and were going to the beach. Again I mentioned it to the Rep!
The entertainment was very poor and myself, my friend and her two daughters ended up going else where at night. They do try hard but again more geared to the over 55's!
The resort is lovely, dont be put off by other reviews I loved it. It was very cheap to eat drink and be merry and had some tacky tourist shops but also some really nice ones too. Its a bit like Spain about 15 years ago. Beach was very clean and the water was warm like a bath.
My friends15 year old and 18 year old were safe enough walking around at night and I certainly felt able to let them. I didnt see one prostitute as mentioned in other reviews!!!
However be warned that one evening we switched the television on after we had gone
back to our rooms (about 11.00pm) and the 15 year ols was with us, we got the shock of explicit porn as we were flicking through channels!
I would return to Sunny Beach but not to this hotel, at least for another 10 years when im in my fiftys."

Amazing!! Super Super!!
"I went to the hotel helena park sunny beach for 2 weeks with my parents and my boyfriend. I am 16 years old and i vote this hotel the best hotel ive stayed in, there is nothing i could fault about this hotel. The rooms were big and spacious, with massive comfy beds. The room is cleaned every day and new towels were given every day. on arrival you are given a card each, this you use to get towels for the day to take to the beach or the pool, so there is no need to take any towels of your own as me and my family found that we never needed to use them. The hotel is amazing, everything is made of marble and the little river that flows roudn the hotel is beautiful. The staff here were very friendly and helpful they were always smiling and laughing. watersports and water gymnastics were on everyday if you are interested, i did not get involved with this but it looked great fun. The pool is a little cold but as the weather is so hot, the pool is a nice cooling off place. The hotel is seated right on the beach and so there is only a short stroll through helena sands resort and your sitting comfortably on the beach. There are a wide range of activities on the beach which were great fun. Banana boat was great fun for only 15 lev you would love it. The night life is great. In a short 10 minute walk you can stroll allong the streets of sunny beach were you will find plenty of shops and supermarkets, however the clothes are fake they are still very cheap and i dont think anyone would notice wether they are fake or not. The furthur you go the cheaper it gets, the cheapest beer we found was 0.80 lev which is equivilent to around 40pence, you can also get a filling meal for around 10 lev, 5 pounds. There is so much for you to spend your money on and all night there is happy hour on all cocktails, this is a great hit. Also the people who work in teh restaurants are very nice, they all seem to remeber you and make you feel welcome. A nice place to go is to teh town nessebar, however do not take the bus take either the train which is 1 lev, or teh boat which is 20 lev, this last aroudn 35 minutes and you get to see the whole of sunny beach. The only bad thing i can think of about this holiday is the fact that we were only there 2 weeks. I just cant wait to go back here when im older and i can really get to know the night life a little better."

"Don't be put off by any old reviews, the Hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are really helpful, friendly and do their best to make your stay memorable. The room was extremely spacious, and the bed was at least 7ft across. The food was good, (somewhat repetative, but we've found that with all-inclusive elsewhere). The pool area could get crowded, but we either went to the beach or waited for sunbeds to come available.
If you were into spa treatments these were all available at the Helena Sands, I have never seen such an extensive list. Obviously these did not come within the AI, but we could use the indoor pool, with the weather being so good we didn't need to
As for Sunny Beach itself, we didn't find it in the least bit "dirty", whether this was because we went at the beginning of the season, and everything was new, I can't comment. We walked to Nessebar a couple of times, but it was only 1 lev each on the bus if you weren't feeling energetic.
Our only regret was that we only booked 1 week!
