Bulgaria has only emerged as a package holiday deal destination over the last decade or so, but now it is firmly on the map, and places like Sunny Beach are leading the way in attracting tourists. Located on the idyllic coastline of the Black Sea, holidays in Sunny Beach are best suited to sun worshippers who are more than happy to lounge by the pool and soak up the rays. However, that is not to say there aren’t a range of activities for you to enjoy here during the daytime.
Horse drawn carriages and novelty tourist trains transport holidaymakers down the lengthy main boulevard, where you will see hundreds of souvenir shops, tacky stalls, and lively bars. On the beach itself, you will be able to try out parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, and all manner of other water-based activities. The best place to head to if you want to escape the resort for a day is the nearby local town of Nessebar. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site thanks to its traditional wooden houses which have been remarkably preserved considering their age. Explore the backstreets here and you will be sure to find family-run restaurants serving up delicious local cuisine at a more reasonable price than in Sunny Beach.
There are over 800 hotels in the resort, and due to its up and coming nature, there are plenty of package holidays in Sunny Beach to snap up at bargain prices. Tourists from northern Europe are beginning to favour the resort over its Mediterranean counterparts because of its similarly consistent sunshine and comparatively lower cost. While Bulgaria is a cheap country by Western European standards, prices are inflated in the resort so you may pay more for your holiday than you might expect.
