Stunning Location, Overbearing Hosts
"We enjoyed a fantastic two week holiday on Tobago in the beginning of March and planned to stay the first week in a small hotel in Bacolet Bay and the second week up north at the Gloucester Place in Parlatuvier. I'm writing 'planned' as we didn't end up staying for the whole second week of our holiday at Gloucester Place, but only three nights. But first things first: The location is absolutely stunning and the house has been built beautifully and certainly with an eye for detail. The pool area has a breathtaking view and invites for a cool dip at any time of the day. We also had nothing to complain about our room: Clean, bright rooms with tasteful decor and we even had a huge open terrace with a fantastic view over the bay - although it lacked comfortable seating to be able to enjoy the terrace in full. Overall Gloucester Place clearly can provide for a memorable and relaxing holiday BUT you have got to accept that you are holidaying in someone else's living space. Bea and Win clearly have the best intentions in making you feel welcome and at home but their efforts often made us feel uncomfortable. We probably were younger than their usual guests (end of twenties) and had to realise that for our hosts we were still 'kids' who needed to be educated. I did not feel able to relax at the pool area without having to interact with the hosts or declining Bea's offer to taste their marmalade although I did not fancy any. For our feel, they still have to learn to gauge when guests may want to be left more in private. Because of this, we decided to cut our stay short and moved to a different hotel where we enjoyed a beautiful end to our holiday. For anyone who is seeking a holiday in a undoubtely stunning location and is also keen on being well looked after by their hosts Gloucester Place can definitely be recommended."

A Home Away from Home
"We left Tobago last week feeling that we were saying goodbye to old/new friends. Win and Bea Sargent make you feel like you are at home, with their informal, easy-going manner. Their house is lovely, and the setting is one of the most spectacular in Tobago. You sit on their huge open balcony and watch the waves crashing onto the rocky coast below. It is magnificent. There is a stunning view of the remote village of Parlatuvier from the small rum shop just up from the Sargents'. Nearby are hikes, beach, walking, and quiet enjoyment of the area. The rooms are lovely, fully airconditioned, with great beds, lovely soft sheets and GREAT pillows. Each room with a view, most with balconies overlooking the coast. If you are looking for 'action' this is not the place for you. But if reading, exploring and lively discussions with your interesting, well travelled hosts is what you want - as we did - this place is a gem."

Very relaxing, beautiful place to stay
"This place was a wonderful place to spend Thanksgiving. The weather was very warm, even the few times it rained. Having a pool on the property was extremely nice, as we could take a dip whenever we wanted. Very nice beaches close to the property. Make sure you rent a car so you can see the rest of the island. Bea and Win (the owners and hosts) were very laid back, accommodating, and had good knowledge of things to do on the island. The house was very sound proof, so we were able to sleep well. It was nice having A/C in our room as well. I would highly recommend this place."
