Return visit to Rendezvous Hotel, Castries, St Lucia
"To begin with, the fact that this is a report about a return visit to Rendezvous must speak volumes. We visited the hotel last year for the first time and we're incredibly impressed by the efficiency, warmth and overall welcoming ambiance exhibited by every member of staff, from the manager, through to the catering staff, cleaning staff right through to the pleasant chap who brought us ice-cold towels and ice pops on the beach every day. As a returning couple we were treated to a wonderfully romantic private dinner in the Rotund (similar to a small hexagonal gazebo) on the beach. Also, since we had chosen this hotel for our wedding anniversary on both occasions, there was a bowl of fruit and an iced bottle of champagne awaiting us in our room. This hotel caters for couples only and it meant that we could fully relax without having to worry about children dashing everywhere - bliss! There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the hotel or it's location. The only possible improvement that comes to mind would be the inclusion of anti- mosquito plug in adapters for the bedrooms - but that is only a minor quibble. Would we go back there again? Absolutely!! We can thoroughly recommend the hotel if you are looking for somewhere to relax, recharge you batteries and have a wonderful holiday."

The Dream Wedding
"This was our choice for our wedding and honeymoon. It could not have been better. The service was excellent, the wedding well organized, and everything went according to plan.
If you want a perfect wedding pick this place. You won't be disappointed.
We have absolutely nothing to criticize them about."

3rd Visit never again
"RE: Recent Holiday 4th â 11th October 2013
Rats, Spraying Cats and Cockroaches
My wife and I have always enjoyed our holidays at the Rendezvous hotel and looked forward to this our 3rd visit. During these past 10 years I have recommended this hotel to others as our experience and enjoyment had remained with us and was always talked about when in the company of friends and even 2 Couples have stayed there on our recommendations
However, this recent holiday was a disappointing and upsetting experience which began with a dispute with management regarding room allocations whereby we requested our room we had stayed in before and received an email from the Hotel confirming this room was booked for us, however the room was given to another couple whom had joined us on this holiday and when I approached the reception staff I got absolute denial from them that the Hotel even sent the e-mail which I had received and their general attitude left much to be desired, basically laughed at and made to feel a liar. The Holiday for us was destroyed within 10 minutes of us arriving by the office/reception staff.
As an all- inclusive hotel the standards were quite appalling and services which should have been included in our package were non- existent. The cleanliness of the hotel particularly in the public areas was disgusting with cats spraying and marking their territories in the bar /dining and lounge areas which should never have been allowed and which breaches all normal health and safety rules. Rats were seen on at least 2 occasions and also cockroaches were seen in the food serving area. This was notified to the staff who indicated that this was normal following bad weather. Not in our country and not what we expect from you.
The food was sub- standard and certainly not the standard expected from a luxury 4*plus hotel and way below the standards experienced in our previous visits. The choice and quality of the food was extremely poor with tough cheap cuts of meats without flavor and grisly and uneatable on many occasions, the beef wellington one night was served and I can assure you a wellington boot would have been more tender.
The leisure facilities were minimized. An example of this was the water doughnuts not being offered to guests as we were told they were worn out and needed replacing and new ones were on order. However the next day I saw these doughnuts myself sitting in the equipment shed and on enquiringly was told by a separate member of staff, that they were not being currently used as the real reason being it appears was the boat towing them uses too much petrol, this was also obvious when we ask for a ride in the speed boat and was told now that this is chargeable but never was before
The entertainment Budget was certainly cut, one night the show was a DJ who was built up so much by the Hotel staff that made him sound like an international star but turned out to be a guy with a laptop on top of a speaker standing in the corner selecting and playing songs without talking at all (very entertaining).
The attitude of quite a few members of staff was as if they had no care about guests and where rude on a number of occasions, also the number of guest relation staff had been cut from about 6 from our last visits to just 2, a real shame as there is still some members of the staff that are really nice but are being tarred with the same brush as the others. This Hotel now has trainee staff working for a month without pay and then gets rid of them and moves onto another lot.
These issues where bought to the attention of different members of the management team who really had no interest at all and just seemed to look into space.
To say how disappointed we was with this holiday would be an understatement.
Obviously we will not be returning at any time in the future and will not be recommending this as a choice for anyone looking for a hotel on the island.
Reputations take a long time to build but are quickly destroyed as other guests were also complaining and feel sure they will not be returning either.
This Hotel is only a reminder in small parts of what a fantastic place it was to Holiday, certainly not anymore
We booked this Holiday with Virgin and feel that they are not checking this place as they should and are misleading when they grade it as a 4+ star rating when in our view it is only a 2 to 3 star
This Review that we are putting on the Sites is a true and a very accurate description of our stay at this Hotel and truly wish I had chosen another Hotel as the Island is lovely and also the St Lucian people.

Do not do it! go to a different hotel
"This hotel is not close to a 5 star hotel as it is represented it is 2 star at best. The facility is old with lots of broken stuff windows, doors, showers. The first room was so bad they put us in another(they said upgraded) room. The AC barley worked, there was mold in the baseboards and door molding. The shower was broken there were glass ring stains on all the tables. My college dorm room had nicer furniture. The food is marginal at best and you can only eat at certain times. No room service. No food after dinner. No food at the bar Can't go to the nice restaurant without reservations even though it is 75% empty. seemed very odd. We stayed one night even though had pre paid for 7. It was all we could take. They refunded us for 3 nights a month later. They still have my money for 4 nights. We are still fighting this one. Also lets not forget that the Hotel is directly at the end of the adjacent airport runway. Planes taking of 500 feet. Also the hotel is next to a cemetary and is in a rundown industrial type area in the city. The beach is fair lots of locals passing thru not sure how safe it is we did not stay long enough to find out. One positive note the Staff was exceptionally friendly "

"My wife and I have recently returned from renewing our wedding vows on our 50th.wedding anniversary at the Rendezvous hotel and cannot praise the hotel and staff enough. We had champagne and flowers in our room on arrival,a minister to perform the service a decorated table in the a la carte restaurant and so much more. The staff made the whole experience a truly memorable one for all the right reasons. All facilities in the hotel including food were first class. From the minute we arrived to the minute we departed we were pampered and well looked-after in every way.We cannot wait to return. We felt the standard was more like 5 star than 4 star as advertised.

Relaxing, Romantic Vacation of a Lifetime
"We stayed at the Rendezvous Resort in Castries, an all-inclive for couples and we thought it was outstanding. We loved everything from the easy pick up at airport to the ride thought the countryside to the resort.
They greeted us with a nice cool cloth and a drink before taking us to our rooms.
The service was outstanding and everyone called you by name, making you really feel at home.
The food was exceptional and we really loved the buffets taking whatever foods you liked.
One of the best things about this resort is that it is located on about a 3 mile stretch of beach that we walked many times a day. It was great to have that option as we noticed most other resort on the island didn't have much for a beach. The bay was gorgous and great fun for sailing which after lessons we did much of.
The grounds are faboulous and many weddings were going on the week we were there.
It was great not having single or kids here, just very romatic for the two of us. Most of the couples here were very friendly as well, and we had lots of fun meeting other couples. The entertainment and night was good as well, some better than others but overall very good.
One thing I really loved was that when you went out shopping on the island the people didn't try and make you purchase their products by pushing it in your face as they do in Mexico or Jamaica. They were more interested in you as a person and wanted to know your name and said "thanks for looking" if you didn't want to buy their product. That was extremely enjoyable for me.
The weather was fantastic in the high 90's. A very relaxing, enjoyable vacation. I would go back in a second."

Perfect holidays at Le Rendezvous
"When I look back on the month we had at Le Rendezvous I remember only happiness. The place oozes with it. People we met there over our 30 days have sent us photos and I am struck by how genuinely happy everyone looks. I have been trying to analyse why this is, and it's difficult. I suspect that they all have a philosophy of care which is different to just 'service'. I have experienced a lot of excellent service in my travels, but few places where people really care about what they do for others. And they have it at Le Rendezvous by the bucketful. Because we were there for a month we were able to see the staff (and I mean all the staff) working over a long period of time. We were amazed by their tenacity, their ability to keep up the pressure on themselves, their real pleasure in what they do and their interest in the guests. How they manage to keep that up and make everyone feel so special is remarkable.
We watched the gardeners tending every plant - big and small- and we talked to them about their work and they were happy to share their knowledge with us. And the gardens are superb.
We watched those who wait at table and their attention to detail at every meal, the way they remember everyone's little preferences, and their cheerful demeanour is a delight - and at every meal.
The entertainment staff, water sports and sport's staff are, of course, utterly 'up front' and that is what they are supposed to be. They actually managed to make us do things that we've never done before - and that's a real achievement! And they always made us feel as if we were succeeding, and they made us laugh too!
The administrative staff were always happy to help everyone and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. And they look so wonderful in their various tailored suits and killer heels!
I loved it when the staff came and joined the guests for meals - what a lovely touch! And, of course, the ones we never see - the marvellous, marvellous people in the kitchens. What amazing work they do to provide such consistently good food, and such a variety too, and always so beautifully presented.
The bar staff - wow! Great cocktails, great drinks, great measures! And they're so gloriously laid- back about it all - love it!
We were fortunate enough to have 2 different rooms whilst we were there, and both were cleaned and prepared for us faultlessly - what a great housekeeping service they have!
And we met so many lovely guests who were equally complimentary with their praise of Le Rendezvous. People who arrived tired and ready for a holiday and, by the end of their stay, were relaxed, smiling - and happy. That's it really - they make people happy, all of them, and that's a very precious commodity in a world that's rather edgy at present.
I wanted to single out people, but I can't do that, because I would have to name the entire staff and that's impossible. Everyone, but everyone is a a gem, and gems are to be treasured, and I know that the management do that, because otherwise, why would they all work so hard and with such obvious pleasure in what they do? Whatever it is they do, and whatever is their secret ingredient, they need to just keep doing it because it really works."

"An excellent hotel in an excellent location. Couples only, an added bonus.
The restaurant was overlooking the beach a fantastic view over your morning breakfast.
Quality of the food was very good. There was a quaint little restaurant I forget the name, which you could book for your evening meal with a guitarist providing background music.
A good choice of activities included e.g. Tai-Chi, Archery, Golf tuition, aqua aerobics, cycling, beach volleyball, giant chess, keep fit room.
You could be as lazy or as busy as you wish. Extra activities include water sports , massages/spa and excursions could be booked through the hotel: a trip around the island in a helicopter and zip-lines through the canopy of the forest.
Our veranda suite was of a good standard with exotic birds visiting if you left the door open. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Altogether an excellent holiday, much recommended."

"We stayed at this hotel last year and it was amazing. The staff are great and go out their way to help you. The entertainment is great and the bar stays open until you want to go to bed. The food was lovely and there was a wide range to choose from too.
They do like their dogs and cats over there and they do sometimes come over while youâre eating but if you shoo them away they go.
In this hotel the all inclusive rate is very good, you can have any drinks at all including all English drinks which you donât usually get in all inclusive packages."

We got married at Rendezvous May 2006. I...
"We got married at Rendezvous May 2006. It was perfect! Stayed in the verandah suites in the beautiful, lush gardens - larger, quieter and more private than the luxury ocean front cottages. Book an upstairs suite for maximum privacy.
You can get married anywhere in the grounds and can book all your extras at the hotel so no need to decide before you get there. Food is fabulous - lots of variety and the quality is good. Lots of branded drinks and the cocktail list is good (mainly rum based - obviously!). The wedding coordinators, Sandra and Karen, are excellent. They'll help you choose where to get married, get your dress pressed, altered etc, help you into it and keep you sane. They were our witnesses too!
Rendezvous is pretty, romantic and very special. They only do three weddings a day maximum, unlike others who have a conveyor belt going... Be careful who you book with. Some companies charge for the wedding. Rendezvous offer it free and are exasperated at companies who make (more) money from it. If you can afford it book the helicopter transfers before you go. Its a wonderful way to start and a less stressful way to end your holiday. Return transfers get booked up quickly at the resort.
The local airport means there is a little noise from a few light aircraft during the day - definitely not enough to put you off though.
Go soon - this is the only hotel on a 2 mile stretch of beach - not easy to find in the Caribbean and according to the video man it won't be like that for much longer. Beach shots of the wedding made it look like we were the only two people for miles!
Go - enjoy!"
