"I Went to hacienda tropical when it was called that. it was a great experience for all the family, they had markets of a night time within the resort which we all loved as it was a great chance to get a souvenir for everyone. during the day they had massage's yoga water sports and music plus alcohol so it was something for everyone or if you wanted to sunbathe quietly there's a pool by the reception which is a quiet relaxing. i strongly suggest you don't let your childrem in the hurrican nightclub as it is full of red light district. but apart from that this has got to be the best hotel in the world :) the people there are absolutly fantastic they give me an my sister there necklaces and shorts as a memory but i oubt hey work there now! jody an lorenzo :) tehy were fantastic. i really recommened this hotel for relaxing, partying, tanning and sight seeing :) I will be goign again this year :)"

"A very big thank you to all the staff at the lifestyle hacienda. A fantastic holiday for us both, A holiday which will not be forgotten for a very long time. Having not done long haul before,we did not know what to expect. It was a holiday a truly amazing holiday one i would personally like to experience again. The trip to Paradise Island is recommended most highly. Once again a big thank you to Thomas Cook for arranging the holiday, and all the staff at the Hotel."

"i stayed at this resort with my boyfriend and quite honestly it was the worst place i have ever been to. from the first day we arrived we found the staff rude especially the thomson rep sylvia. the food was awful we ended up with food poisining and we weren't the only guests who were complaining. after a week of suffering we moved to the gran ventana beach resort in playa dorada along with 4 other familys and this hotel was excellent, the food was perfect and the staff a delight i just wish i had booked here from the start. i gave this a 2 because the only good thing bout this place was the reception staff who were pleasant. time share people are a NIGHTMARE."

"The package was sold to us as a 4 star all inclusive, however we would rate it as a 3 star MAX. The food was good - not great - but good. There was no evening entertainment, nor was there a "lounge" where one could go for an after dinner drink. In the evenings there were only two bars open - both with loud music playing and as we are approaching our golden years, we wanted some place for our age group - there was none. Our room, although adequate, was not comfortable. The shower worked off and on and not at all two of the days we were there. The bed was most uncomfortable. Our biggest complaint however, were the timeshare salespeople. They were relentless. Leaving our room, going to any meal, walking on the beach - whereever you went they were there. We complained to our tour company's rep - but she just shrugged her shoulders and said it was normal at this resort. Funny it was/is not mentioned on there website promoting this resort nor when I called three other local travel agencies - until I asked specifically, then they all know about this scam. We wanted/needed a week of R&R and did not get it at this place - too bad as it could be a nice spot if they paid more attention to the paying guests or if one says no to them, perhaps they could devise a method to identify us and leave us alone."

I would DEFINITELY recommend this resort!
"First off I will say that this All-Inclusive resort absolutely deserves better than it's 3-Star rating. The site I booked my vacation through listed it as a 4 and I would still say it deserves better. The hotel ameneties are plentyful, with great food, lots of places to stop for another drink (you have to love all-inclusive) and one of the most entertaining and delightful staff I have ever encountered in my years of travelling to the Carribbean. The "Indochine" Asian restaurant was fantastic. If you are with your partner, be sure to book this dining experience for "after dark" as it sits right by the waterfall pool which is beautifully lit up @ night. VERY Romantic! The "Blue Lagoon" Seafood and Grill is right on the beach and is open 24hours with great snacks all day/night. The grounds are very well maintained, as are the rooms, beach and pools area. A great "walk-in" stone shower in your room w/4post-bed and quaint little balcony/patio area make for a nice comfortable place to relax after a day in the sun. The nightly entertainment is very nicely choreographed and provides laughs and an all around great show. The Disco is a short distance away next to the VIP area and is a very "classy" place to spend the night dancing. The downside to the Disco is that the drinks are not included here but you are aloud to bring drinks in. The hotel is a only 2 minute walk so just order three at a time and bring them with you:) There are a lot of excursions offered so it depends on what you like to do. I took in the Outback Safari, Snorkeling/Wake Boarding Trip and Ocean World, all of which were well worth the money, and provide a great day of seeing what the Dominican has to offer. Ocean World also offers a bunch of "encounter" options which allow you to swim with Dolphins,Sharks or Stingrays. They also have a giant aquarium that you get to snorkel in with some amazing coral and beautiful sea life. All and all this resort has something for everyone and is WELL worth every cent you spend to get there. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because of the "Men in Blue". These guys have access to the resort and try to convice you to come with them for great deals and a free gift. If you get coaxed into going you are then sitting at an hours worth of them trying to sell you time-share in the VIP resorts. Unless you want to be locked into a 25 year contract I suggest you graciously decline them as soon as they approach you :) Take it from someone who has been to many Caribbean All-Inclusive resorts. The Lifestyle Tropical is a first class resort without the high priced tickets. You won't be dissappointed. P.S. Tip your bartenders and maid every now and then. These guys will treat you like royalty. A dollar or two goes a long way :) HAVE FUN !! "

"We went to this hotel for 3 weeks, when we first got there we tried leaving we found it boring and uninsteresting, after all our moaning we later found we loved it :D! We now realise that unless you really get invloved with the shows and entertainers you probably wont have a great time unless your lookign for quality time alone, but as a young girl making friends with the amazing staff made my holiday the best.. anyone going out there these people working as your entertainers work from 9am untill 5pm then do a show at 9:30pm which are extremly energetic and then make appearances at the night club/disco tech untill early hours of morning, ive never known people to work as hard as they do , Mr Spaghetti ,Ariel ,Mr Sexy, Looky Looky, George(Towel Boy) and Chaa Chaa are the most livelyst amazingly ambitiouse people you will find .! The bar staff are always cheerfull and happy, food's nice, alot of sea food, a la carte restaurants nice but a hassle to book , mexican restaurant is revolting and a complete waste of time trying to book it, my dinner was awful, they cover it in a brown offputting sludge of sauce, and the chicken well lets just say it wasnt far of black ( no it wasnt char grilled) . If you dont rent a safe for your valubles i wouldnt advice taking any valubles, we had underwear small items of clothing and shoes stolen, now we cant blame maids for stealing but when leaving our front and back door open and unlocked all day after cleaning our room its no wonder things go missing... Have a complaints dont bother talking to reception its usless.. But for entertainment, fun, food drink, and partys untill early hours :D its amazing, the staff everywhere excpt reception are amazing and friendly... I am very happy to say as off the 30th march i will be flying back there to see all our friends who work there, if it wasnt for the people we wouldnt go back ."

Absolutely loved this holiday!! Resort t...
"Absolutely loved this holiday!! Resort too. You too will love this holiday unless you're a resident of the USA... every American we encountered moaned, all the British we spoke to didnât. Food is amazing, the Chinese is wonderful... the only problem is itâs a la carte and you can only go twice a week!! Midnight burger & chips at the 24hour Blue Lagoon goes down well after a few beers too ;-) P.S Donât drink too many Pina coladas unless youâre well stocked up on loo roll...!!! Rooms are lovely, absolutely spotless with TV, air con & mini fridge. The maids are amazing people who seem to work forever... smile and say "ola" as its well received! If youâre in the pool by the bar look up for the lil birdies in the roof... they have a habit of falling in the pool, if youâre not quick enough they drown :( we saved one when we were there! bless! Pools are spotless, look out for "Eddie" one of the entertainment team...he is well funny, donât try an play any of them at table tennis they will beat you for sure. The sand beach gets too hot & you end up hopping around... much cooler around the pool area. As for the trips... Paradise Island is amazing...you must go... itâs a trip you will never forget & donât forget your camera & snorkelling gear... wouldnât recommend upgrading this trip to the catamaran either as the speed boats to get there are great fun!! The monster truck safari was cool too...take some sweets for the village kids, "mento, mento" is what they will shout trying to get you to throw to them...and if you're clever donât get off when its horsey time... stay on the truck and drink the copious amounts of beer they give, then laugh at the others as you pass them by drinkin!! We also did the white water rafting and it really is extreme as we toppled twice!!! Quite shook up and bruised but great fun. Dom rep is a great holiday... we had a great time, here is a tip, ask the rep about the VIP upgrade for the journey home, you get to sit and relax in an air con room at the airport with drinks & food! Well worth it! Only negative about this holiday for us was the flight, Monarch airlines.... aaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh if you can change flight then do so as cramped..... Would go back again for sure.... The Dom & this hotel !!!!! Loved it."

"I am shocked to see the previous review (obviously as it was submitted a few years ago). My partner and I booked an allocation on arrival to the Dom Rep last minute and we were very happy to realise that we were staying at Lifestyle Tropical Beach. It looked better than other hotels we dropped people off at. We thought the resort was fab! ok the on-site shop was quite expensive but we really didn't need to buy anything out of there anyway - as long as you go on holiday well prepared with suntan lotion/insect repellent then you'll be fine. Being a travel agent I really couldn't fault this hotel, the only problem we encountered was the people trying to sell you Lifestyles kind of 'time share' - we naively went (were away half the day!) - so my advice - just say no! The room was nice - maid in every day - there is a sign you can put up so she doesn't disturb you if you've had a late night the night before, you just turn the sign around and then she knows your out and will go and clean up for you. The room has tv, fridge, iron, ironing board, water, towels, walk in wardrobe, safe and air-con - all the things you would expect! All the staff were really friendly and would bend over backwards to please you. Food was out of this world and always being changed - we never once had a 'warm' meal as it was said in the last review! Italian a la carte is to die for - a must! Overall this is a beach holiday and is ideal for a relaxing break in the sun. I really enjoyed it and the excursions were brill - DEF recommend paradise island for the snorkelling. I would return to Dom Rep probably not to this hotel as I would like to go round to the east side of the island but there is nothing wrong with this hotel. Have a great time if your booked!"

"Just got backed, travelled with two children under five. They loved the kids club and pool, everyone loved the kids. We also travelled with teenagers and they too really enjoyed the VIP disco, entertainers, and the activities. The rooms were a lovely size. We enjoyed the food and the hotel was lovely. Best holiday I have ever been on. "

Having visited the Dom Rep - Punta Cana ...
"Having visited the Dom Rep - Punta Cana in December 06 (allocation on arrival) and having had such a fantastic time, we had no hesitation in booking another holiday there, although this time it was Puerta Plata. Initially on arriving we were pleased with the hotel and our room. However, soon we noticed that the maid just about managed to make the bed, but no cleaning seemed to take place. Often we had just one towel and had to ask for more. On complaining for three days we had a super maid who cleaned everything every day. Then back to the non cleaning maid. Also on site you were continually harassed by the Lifestyle Reps encouraging you to upgrade to VIP status. This entailed from what we could make out paying them several thousand pounds to ensure a special area with super duper mattresses for sun bathing invitations to musical events on site, which you could not attend if you were a normal 4* customer, being picked up at the airport and a few other extras. This was not your normal time-share however, it only lasted for a set amount of weeks, however you wanted to take them. These men were waiting outside the blocks of rooms at 7.00 am in the morning ready to pounce. The staff generally were extremely nice and helpful on the site and in the restaurants and we tipped them on a regular basis as their wages are very low (about 200 dollars per month). However, during our stay, it was a Dom Rep bank holiday. For three days the hotel was packed to the gunnel's with DOM REP nationals. Nothing wrong with that of course, but these people took over the hotel. If you did not get to meal times early the special menu food was gone and you were told it was finished. On one such night when we should have enjoyed lobster, smoked salmon and crab, at 8.00pm it had all gone. We bitterly complained saying they knew they had that many extra people and should have provided the food. After complaining to the under manager and the main restaurant manager a huge plate of lobster was produced, but only to our table, which surely isn't right. The beach was not very good at all, and walking into the sea you had to careful of craggy rocks etc. A little further along in front of the VIP area, the rocks had obviously been cleared away. The weather was beautiful and the drink plentiful, which was just as well. The stalls of gifts that were set up outside the main restaurant most nights were a nightmare with the locals trying to get as much as £20 for a little child's necklace. The whole place seemed to be gimme gimme gimme. Punta Cana the previous year was on the other hand a fairytale holiday (The Sirensis Hotel). We have decided if we return it will be to the South Punta Cana we would go and we don't think we would ever return to Puerta Plata."
