Business Hotel with great pool
"We arrived at the Panorama with no expectations as our stay was booked at the last minute by a Cuban Agent to give us extra time in Havana. The hotel was very business orientated without the service level one would expect - we stood at reception for a good 10-15 minutes each time we wanted something. On the whole the hotel was great - very good selection for breakfast, great pool & clean luxurious room. It's about $10 in a taxi into old Havana but away from the hustle & bustle of the City. Good choice for a few nights stay."

Beautiful view from my room
"The external environment of the hotel is breathtaking being near the seaside with a commanding view of the ocean. The room is spacious and the room attendants are friendly and hardworking. I like the way they fold the blankets and towels, so creative! There is an Italian, German and a buffet restaurant. The Italian and German restaurants are nothing to shout about, but the buffet restaurant serves a good spread for breakfast. The food is delicious, look out for the sausage and the chopped beef patties. Overall I had a good experience and would recommend it to anyone going to Cuba."

Modern, clean but a little far out
"We stayed in the Panorama for 3 nights before transferring to Varadero. It's a nice hotel; modern with spacious rooms. Great bathroom and shower. Breakfasts were good with lots of choices and freshly cooked omelettes/fried eggs etc + pancakes which my two boys (aged 10 and 12) loved. It is a bit far from centre of Havana and I think next time I'd try for same quality but nearer city centre. Cabs are fun to travel in - they drive like maniacs - and each taxi driver took us a different way (price varied from 8 - 5 convertible pesos). We didn't take taxi from outside hotel as somehow they always charged more. Went to the crossroads and plenty pass by and stop. We always tipped driver depending on how much fun the ride was. My boys had time to use the pool and they liked it. Havana itself is amazing but takes some time to get used to. It is in turn stunningly beautiful and depressingly grim. Lots of renovation going on and they're very proud of what they have achieved. It's a fantastic country and really interesting; it is so much better than the propoganda would have you believe. The cars are great but even better is the sheer variety and innovation that passes for transport in the city - we even saw a forklift truck cruising past the Capitolia!! Watch out for the buses. Yes, they do like you to tip them and some are slow with the service and there are beggars but on the whole they are a lovely, happy people in a fabulous land. Well worth a visit and would definitely return."

Good choice in Miramar
"We stayed in the Panorama for one night when first arriving in Havana. We got there late but the reception staff were efficient and friendly. We were only there overnight as the following day we travelled to Varadero but for us the hotel had everything we needed, the rooms are well furnished and have a good bathroom, the breakfast was great-lots of choice and plently of everything. In response to the previous post, the standards may not meet those you would expect in Canada or other similar countries, but this is not in Canada and by Cuban standards the food here is good. There is also an Italian and a German restaurant which we did not get a chance to visit but if you stayed there you may have to settle for eating there because it didn't seem as though there were any other restaurants in the area. The pool area looked nice too but we didn't have time to use any facilities unfortunately!"

Good Value
"I stayed there for 3 nights in combination with another hotel in Cuba and found it to be a comfortable hotel on the outskirts of Havana. Its about a 15 minuite drive to the centre of Havana but the hotel offers a free shutle service twice a day and you can always get a cab."

Not worth 4 stars, by far
"We stayed at the Panorama for 8 days, and I agree with previous bad reviews with this hotel. Location: Panorama is located in Miramar and not in Havana. The hotel provides only two free shuttles which leave at 9am and 2 pm. Alternatively, the only method of traveling to Havana is by Taxi, which takes 15 minutes and costs 10 Convertible Pesos (15 CND) Attractions: The hotel has a pool and bar, though they are infrequently used by guests. There is no beach, rather a rocky shoreline faces the "seaside view". There are no attractions within walking distance to the hotel. Tourist Services: There is a tourism official who's sole job is to book tours. Obtaining additional information for self guided tours is very difficult. Bring a travel guide and map to Cuba, since I was not able to get either at the Panorama nor in Havana since tourism information is strictly regulated by the government. The Havana City Tour (15 CP) is not worth it. Room: The rooms are cold. The plumbing is noisy since you can hear other rooms. Food: Panorama has a buffet, however the food is terrible, compared to Canadian standards. There is a lack of both variety and quantity. The meat is sketchy and the fruits were not fresh. Overall Recommendation: Stay at an all inclusive resort if you want luxury, at another hotel actually IN Havana if you want to experience Havana, or at a casa particlar if you are on a budget."

Sea views in Embassy Land
"This modern hotel is several miles outside Havana City in an area of up-market houses and foreign embassies. It is on the sea front so most rooms offer a sea view. The rooms are very spacious with fridge, air-conditioning and huge beds and there is a very big atrium with reception and bar facilities. The main restaurant, El Viajero, is buffet-style and had (for Cuba) a reasonable choice of food, although often lukewarm or not well-cooked. We enjoyed a meal in the Bistro Berlin, which is a la carte. We went for a few walks around the area, and it was one of the few places during our tour of the island that we weren't hassled by beggars. There is a huge modern church within walking distance, known as "Jesus of Miramar" which contrasts vividly with other churches of the country."

Awful - Stay somewhere else
"We stayed in the Panorama hotel for one night only as part of an excursion to Havana from Varadero. All I will say is one night was enough! The staff were rude and unfriendly. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. The rooms were modern but you could have been anywhere in the world - there was no Cuban influence. We had to complain three times about the air-conditioning which didn't work. Eventually they gave us a new room, but only after we got our tour guide involved. We were pleased to be returning to Varadero!"

Not the best choice
"Panorama hotel was definitely a bad choice. Although it is new and modern, this five stars hotel is not what I expected. It is too far away from the city. Romms are good and so is the pool area. But, service is terrible. You will find some problems if you speak only English. Also, do not expect to find anything of Cuban friendliness and hospitality here. Everything is too severe and stiff and the atmosphere is so cold! And not only the atmosphere! The air condition in the hotel works like hell so you may feel cold there and almost all of the staff have a cold! Fodd in the buffet is so-so but the service is awful. There are so many hotels in Havana and I am sure you may find a better place to stay."

"This hotel is not worth its 4 star rating, the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible, very unfriendly. It is in Miramar not Havana, we had to pay 10cuc in and back again each day! The shuttle bus that ran from the hotel didnt turn up to pick us up and left us stranded in havana, other guests told us they were having the same problem. Items went missing from my from room during my stay, the hotel didint seem to be bothered by this. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially if you want see Havana and experience Cuban hospitality."
