Regal Beach Club

Regal was a piece of heaven
"We stayed in 511 at The Regal Beach Club from April 12-19th. The condo was beautiful. It was very clean and the staff came in every day to clean. We thought it was one of the best condos on the beach. The beach was wonderful, there were always plenty of chairs for everyone. At the Marriott next door the sunbathers looked like sardines on the beach. We were able to spread out and it was never very crowded at the Regal. This was our first trip to the Carribean. I felt like I was still in the United States. Very American. Cayman is very pricey. A condo is your best bet. It really helped to be able to cook. Our kitchen was great, all the luxeries of home. For first time visitors, you can go to a full size grocery store and do all your shopping. We were told you could bring frozen meat into the country, make sure you don't bring beef. Since the mad cow scare they won't let you, even if you are consuming it yourself. We found this kind of funny since in the grocery stores the beef is from the United States. Only pork and chicken can be brought in. It does help on the cost of food since meat is vey expensive there. They have all the major tv stations and they even have video stores. For families with children this is good to know because the island shuts down after 5:00. Only thing open are bars and resturants. The water is breathtaking, all the different colors. My family snorkeled right out front of the Regal. While there do the Jolly Roger if you have children, the kids love it. Snorkel City is a must, we used Bob Soto's. $19.00 CI, it was a very good deal, they took us to 3 stops, the snorkeling was great. A lady was under water with a camera and takes videos of everyone snorkeling, and they sell it to you. It really is worth it. She gets pictures of your kids that you can't get. As you can tell from this review we were quite pleased with our trip. Everyone is so nice there. Busses and taxis easy to get. Most things within walking distance. We did rent a car one day and drove around the whole island. This was fun because we saw more than what you would on a tour bus. Rum Point looked interesting but is was so windy, the water was so rough that there wasn't much to do. The whole week there it was in the 80's and partly cloudy but very windy. We were still able to do the water adventures but it was very rough. I am glad I found this site, we thougt of staying at a hotel down in the Caymans, but the reviews helped us to decide to stay in a condo. I would recommend Regal Beach to anyone that is going to the Caymans. With prices the way they are there and the U.S. dollar worth only 80cents it is the only way to go. We will definitely go back to Regal Beach."

won't be back
"We stayed at the Regal Beach from 4/7-4/14/04. We were upgraded from an oceanview II to oceanview as soon as we arrived. We were very excited. When we walked into the 1 bedroom condo, we were very disappointed. It was not clean, both baths were dirty and had remnants of the previous visitors. The pull out sofa was broken, two of the four balcony chairs were bent and not safe to use. The coffee pot, cracked. Cigarette burns on the furniture, digusting floors, shall I go on..We've visited the islands every year for 12 years...and we were a little upset. We spoke to the office representative...she offered another room that the occupants had just left...it was still unclean, but looked similar. The office sent a roll away bed to replace the sofa. The office offerred their coffee pot from their Mr. Coffee, but when we returned to get it, the office had closed...and didn't open for 2 days. We probably should have called the travel agency to move, but we ended up cleaning the baths ourselves....we basically only slept there...and spent most of the time outside on the beach. Grand Cayman is not an inexpensive adventure...Regal Beach is way overpriced...Consider other options if you can. Other things missing that other resorts provided -- security/safe in each room, as simple as suitcase stands and good hangers for the closets, towels that were in good condition. Good things: beach was nice, except when the Marriot guests moved in (the Regal Beach security man did kick them out...what a show). Obviously we were not pleased. We may be one of five...but we know five people, who know five more people, who know five more, and so on...Reconsider, there are definitely other options for cost!"

Regal Beach Club
"Regal Beach Club is a great place to stay on Grand Cayman. The condos are clean and spacious. The grounds are beautiful and clean. It is postcard perfect when you walk through the courtyard. Awesome beach not crowded at all. Very quiet lovely place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the States. We loved Coconut Joe's for a quick place to eat, great atmosphere and moderately priced. ( just down the street from RBC) Our favorite restaurant was Casonova's (Italian) in Georgetown by the old fort. Save room for the Tiramisu it was fantastic. The food was magnificent and the wait staff was adorable. Need reservations and sit outside. BE AWARE of the Thai Orchid. Good food but very expensive if they call it the Anniversary dinner. They told us you could not order off the menu but then we noticed that people coming later got to order off the menu when they said they were going to another restuarant. Call first for reservation and ask if they are celebrating their anniversay! I can't wait to go back. It was so much fun. And Regal Beach Club # 613 was the BEST, ocean view on the 1st floor with great access to the beach and pool."

Great For Families!
"We just got back from a 7 day stay (3/6/04-3/12/04) and we had a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful and has the widest stretch of beach on 7 mile beach-just look over at the Marriott and see the people packed in like sardines! Open chairs and umbrellas (at least 15 or more) everyday at both the pool and beach. You can get lunch/dinner or drinks at the Marriott right next door. The supermarkets are so American (the one is an IGA) and carries everything that you can find in the states (no need to bring diapers, juice, etc). The resort will rent you a crib but they do have their own stock of pack n plays and booster chairs/highchair for free so make sure to ask when you reserve. Baby pool is great, but over 2 ft deep which makes it hard for them to be safe. Condo was clean and large, all ammenities were great. Will definately go back again, worth any extra money to stay there."

You get what you pay for.
"Great condo. Top of the line. I have travel to a lot of Carribean Islands and love the safety and comfort of the Caymans. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo that was just wonderful. Clean and well kept. My six year old even had Nintendo to play at night. I thought the beach was a bit small but it was never crowded and we always had a spot to sit. The only complaint I have is that the hot tub was no hotter than the pool. Beautiful view of the sunset every night and great service. No restaurant but lots near by. The Caymans are top notch. It is more expensive than Mexico, Jamacia etc. but it keeps the rif raff out and you feel very safe and in paradise. I will return."

"We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo on the third floor. The unit was spacious and very comfortable, with a great view of the water from our porch. Everything you need is available and the people were very friendly. We were expecting it to be more crowded, but there was never any problem getting a chair by the pool or on the beach. The grounds are well manicured and the pools very clean. Other than the jacuzzi is not being heated, we felt this resort was absolutely perfect and we would love to go back."
