"Quite a small Hotel, but with a BIG heart. Fantastic place, friendly staff, nice room ( we got upgraded to a sea view, dont know why!! didn't ask) with a balcony over the beach with a hammock, heaven.
Good food, and real whiskey and other spirits, none of the cheap lookalike stuff.
Just outside the hotel on Sunday night's is party night. Lots of small bars with all sorts of entertainment going on. The small streets are packed with tourist's and local's, karaoke , live bands, drag queens, and loads of other fun stuff happening, but ONLY on Sundays for some reason!!"

Can't fault this hotel. We had our honey...
"Can't fault this hotel. We had our honeymoon here and it was magical.
Room excellent, food superb although did feel a bit fat coming home with three big meals a day AND afternoon tea and cakes.
A beautiful beach perfect for an early evening swim whilst watching the sun set over the sea and good entertainment in the evening.
Staff were always helpful and courteous. The best honeymoon I could have wished for."

My wife and I stayed at Mango Bay last...
"My wife and I stayed at Mango Bay last Nov. We found the hotel very clean, the staff were excellent, the food and service was of 5 star quality.
We were there for 18 nights, and are going back this Nov 2007 for 21 nights. Even when the mango grove flooded, and unable to use the immediate vicinity of beach, you only had to walk 100 metres, for a good bathe, and the hotel laid on boat transport to take you to another beach if you so desired. Plenty of beds for all round the excellent pool."

The most amazing holiday I have ever had...
"The most amazing holiday I have ever had, the place was beautiful the staff were so friendly, the food was out of this world, and nothing was too much trouble for anyone that worked there.
We stayed at this hotel with a big group of family and friends, but it would also be a lovely place for a nice quiet romantic break, I really would recommend this hotel to anyone. After being out there for 2 weeks we have decided that we are going to go back there and get married.

Mango Bay Excels in every way!
"We have just returned from a 10 day stay at he Mango Bay Resort. This was our 14th visit to Barbados but our first visit to Mango Bay. Although a last minute booking this visit turned into one of our best holidays to date. This was due to the hospitality of the staff, the excellent cuisine, the lovely accommadation, and the first class customer service from the owner Peter to everyone that we came in contact with including the maids. Nothing was too much trouble.
The location is good for local shops and buses. The beach is fairly narrow but adequate and provides wonderful walks in both directions to other spectacular beaches with other hotels and private villas. Highly recommended!"

Can there be a freindlier hotel in the Barbados?
"We have just returned from a wonderfull 2 weeks at Mango Bay Hotel, Having been told 24 hours before UK departure that building work was in progress the dilema was to stay at Mango Bay or not. What a relief that we stuck with our origional booking and had the benefit of this Hotel. Yes their was some building and furnishing being completed but wherelse would you find workmen as well as staff who went out of their way to make your stay so good, let's face it the jobs are difficult enough any way without the additional responsibility of putting guests first. The Staff are unbelievable from the Manager to the Beach staff nothing to much trouble and you always felt that nobody mattered but you when we left it was like leaving a group of freinds. The activities on offer were woderfull food first rate and entertainment varied and proffesional. Watching the reception area takeing shape over the 2 weeks and extra rooms come on line we can't wait to get back again to see the finished article. Thankyou Mango Bay for a briliant 2 weeks."

"We booked this hotel fairly last minute. We were expecting a 4 star hotel and I suppose that is what it is in terms of services provided. However, the mixture of residents was quite broad from the tattooed Scots who drank half pints of Bailey's WITH their dinner to nice families.
Our room was right at the back of the hotel overlooking the alley where all the local bars are. The first night was karaoke night which started at 11pm and seemed to go on all night. Not ideal if your bodyclock thinks it is 5 hours later than it actually is!
The food was pretty good with different dinner menus every night. Lunch was more of a snack menu with things like BLTs, french fries etc. Everything is all inclusive, but unless you drink loads evry day/night, it's probably not worth it as food and drinks are pretty cheap in Barbados.
The beach is a very narrow strip now due to erosion of the sand. Some days you could only fit a bed on the beach for half a day before the tide would come right up. There are far nicer beaches 5 minutes walk away including one which is very secluded where there is an amazing coral reef just below the surface only 100 yds from the beach where you can see dozens of different species of fish in schools. We even saw a Moray eel a couple of feet below us!
Staff are very nice and try to keep you as happy as possible. We were there just before the refurbishment. I am sure it will be much nicer now, and much more expensive too.
Overall, my wife and I were much happier with Silver Sands on the south coast where we had a Beachfront Studio. It is only 3 stars but the food is better (not included) the beach incredibly beautiful, and much more authenitc local nightlife."

"We returned from our trip on Feb 3RD. This was our honeymoon and we couldn't ask for a better place to stay!!!!! Very romantic and laid back. The food was outstanding - The staff incredible - our room was right on the ocean!!!!!! I've never stayed at a small resort like this we loved it. They had very good entertainment at night. If you feel like going out there are many bars and restaurants outside the hotel (literally steps away) There is some reno still going on but it did not interfere with our stay at all. We did not leave the resort at all only to shop a little in the morning. Thank you very much to everyone at Mango Bay!!!"

Loved Mango Bay
"Returned from Mango Bay Jan 22/06 and yes much construction had been going on but did not hinder us from enjoying this great hotel. Staff was excellent and went out of their way to assist (pillows were waiting in cargo and the owner had tried to purchase them directly on island - to no avail). Food was the best I have experienced compared to most A/I - better than other major hotel chains. Premium alcohol was available - at NO extra charge. Entertainment was excellent - a different band/group played every night. It is up to guests whether they want to get up and dance/participate, as hotel was not full. The owner takes great pride in his hotel and was available to assist guests or socialize. When the hotel is complete it will be a 5 star quality on a smaller intimate scale."

We love Mango Bay...
"We just returned from our 2nd trip to Mango Bay.
This time with two boys ages 4 and 6 in tow.
We had tried to book here again after a lovely visit two years ago but they were not accepting bookings due to renos.
So we had a night of hell on the east coast of the island before discovering they were open and taking off in a cab last minute to salvage the vacation.
I had anticipated a lukewarm reception due to the small boys but they were very welcoming and we made sure to keep the boys reigned in a bit for the other guests.
This resort is not for everybody but it is truly a gem for those that do appreciate good value and professional service.
The beach is small and sometimes crowded but welcome to barbados! Most are...
The restaurant is lovely with mahogany glass doors on the interior and lovely fresh green paint that shows they care and are trying to bring back the old elegance of Barbados travel.
Every night I watched the service team prep for the shift. Never an idle hand and always clearly outlined with duties. We had three course meals for most lunch and dinner (all-inclusive) They fawn over your water and wine glass. We had the same table every night and I noticed all the guests had their own favorite.
Every night there was some form of entertainment and the first dinner our children fell asleep at the table and we carried them to the deck, under the stars lit with Tikkis and listened and danced while they slept in a comfy big lounger.
The clientelle is 90% British and they wondered about us (nationality?) but we really love the brits and were happy to be among them.
They set us up in a condo next door which is really about 20 ft from the beach and the morning coffee urn.
We had a private balcony and a nap every day with the kids.
This was a lovely holiday. Our last day we rented a small glass bottom (the hotel provides but weather was not pernitting during our time stay)
The kids rode our backs while we snorkled with turtles and many many fish and even a barracuda.
If you want a large resort with North American flair and a variety of restaurants this is not for you.
If you seek quiet attention and a bit of barbados flavour with great service and a varied menu you will love Mango Bay.

quiet and relaxing hotel apart from refurbishment still going on
"date 28th january 2006
tripadvisor fron london uk
we have just arrived back from the mango bay hotel barbados and would confirm as previously stated that beach is relatively small and slopes to sea with some sharp shingle to walk over to get into sea, as the beach is small you are restricted in the number of beach chairs you can choose from probable no more than twenty if these are taken then you would have to rely on laying on your towel in another part of beach further along.
the rooms were adequate with king size bed and airconditioning but no facilities for tea/coffee or fridge. their was no reception but only a woman or man sitting at desk who we did request new pillows but did not turn up even though we asked on three occassions. otherwise the serving staff were friendly and attentive. the food was good but could get repetitive as we were given the same menu on consecutive days for lunch. the evening could get long and boring as their was little to do as the entertainment was very laid back more of a backing sound than entertaing. we encountered workman on a daily basis banging and grinding and even supplied us with new taps whilst we were their. this did anoy us as we were told that this hotel had allready been refurbished which was obviosly not correct so be warned?"
