Panwa saves the day!
"The Kantary Bay hotel was the last stop on our fantastic tour of Thailand. We were very excited to at long last have a week relaxing on a beach! The Kantary Hotel is fairly average, although no compaints. The Cape Panwa Hotel however is fantastic and luckily for us Kantary is twinned with the Panwa. You can eat, use the pool, beautiful private beach and amenities of the Panwa and then just go home to sleep at Kantary. Kantary does have 2 gorgeous pools and a tip would be to take advantage of this when everyone else is at the Panwa! We were a bit shell shocked though when dropped of at the hotel as it is fairly secluded - it is quite a long taxi ride to any towns, so if you are looking for great nightlife etc I wouldnt advise this place. But for a relaxing break you cannot go wrong."

"A brilliant hotel in a quite corner of Phuket. I loved it here but not the distance to the main parts of Phuket. If its a quiet relaxing holiday you're after then its a great place but not if you on a budget and wanting to be close to the main towns and beaches. Its quite a drive from the airport but once you arrive at the hotel its worth it. Originally we went to the wrong reception area...there's two for some strange reason? and we were a little disappointed but once shown to the correct one we knew its was going to be a wonderful place to stay. We had an apartment with a brilliant view over the swimming pool and the beach!! Our apartment was lovely too, very clean and spacious. We ate out at either the hotels resturants (there's plenty to choose from) or the different resturants along the road. The only downfall was the hotels buffet breakfast, if you didn't get there when it started you'd be eating cold food. There's a local free bus which runs from this hotel to Cape Panwa, its a joining hotel which is a little more up market (and expensive). We went to explore one night had one drink and returned back to our hotel to eat as the prices are a rip off. There's plenty of taxis outside the entrance of the hotel but haggle the price of them and agree a price before leaving as they try to get as much out of you as they can."

Good Hotel-Incompedent Management
"On arrival at this hotel we were informed that our room had been overbooked until the 21st and we were moved to their sister hotel, the Cape Panwa(see seperate review). On the 21st after arrving at reception at the Cape Panwa we were told we were now not moving until the 23rd, something nobody had informed us about! On the 23rd we eventually moved to the Kantary Bay. You could not fault this hotel, rooms are spacious and clean even if a little dated. They have great sea views. The resort itself is small peacful and quite perfect if you want a nice relaxing break. The hotel run a shuttle bus to Patong Beach at night if you want somewhere lively with good nightlife and bars. Its worth checking out but its nothing too special (looks a bit like benidorm!). The Ladyboys are a good laugh tough. In Cape Panwa, Sawesdee is a good place to eat, good food and cheap prices. There is also a good Seafood restaurant, cant remember the name but if you take a right out of the hotel and walk as if you were leaving the resort you ll find it on your right. Sunset Bar is a great little spot for a drink. Russell the owner is very welcoming, he can orgainse trips which are much cheaper than what Kuoni are offering. We went to Banana Beach twice, really nice beach and not as crowded as Maya and Phi Phi. Overall a great place to stay but check with the hotel before you arrive that they havent overbooked your room!"

"As a single traveler the Kantary Bay hotel was perfect, my room was a double with cooking area, the staff never stop smiling and cannot do enough for you. Hired a scooter most days ( costs 250 BHT ) to get out and about , followed the coast and found the most spectacular views and places to eat i would recommend Kantary Bay to anyone young or old, cannot wait to go back"

Great time to stay
"Our family (I, my dad and mom) stayed 1 night at this hotel and found that it was a great time there. The staffs are very friendly. They upgraded our booking from Studio to one-bedroom suite. The room's view is supreme. We can see the viewpoint of beautiful Cape Panwa from our room. Room including bedroom, pantry, living room, restroom was large and clean. The benefit to stay there is the free shuttle bus to Cape Panwa Hotel. Shuttle bus is lovely and there is a free tram for everyone esp.elderly person like my Mom and Dad to go and come from uphill front office to the beach. All customers of The Bay can use the facility of Cape Panwa Hotel like the secluded beach. However, the view for second pool called top-roof pool is magnificient."

Loved It !
"The Bay Hotel is situated in the village of Cape Panwa - it's a very secluded and peaceful place - far removed from Patong. The rooms are comfortable with bedroom, kitchen area and living area plus bathroom with separate shower - the living room area has a DVD/CD player. The room we were in was in need of a bit of an update â a bit old fashioned but not scruffy. They have 2 swimming pools each located in a different wing of the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are a couple of restaurants outside the hotel - and a bar called Sunset Bar around the corner where the owner Russell will get you some good deals on trips - we went to James Bond Island on the Panwa Canoe which was fantastic. If you get the free bus that is provided between the Bay and the Cape Panwa hotel - then walk back up the hill from the Cape Panwa there are a couple of nice restaurants, particularly 'Hill Top'. The restaurants and bars at the Cape Panwa are nice but very expensive - we had a meal at Panwa House which is on the beach - it was lovely. The breakfast is very nice lots to choose from. You can get the local bus from the Aquarium outside to the left of the hotel to Phuket Town for only 20 baht each - takes about 15 minutes. The hotel run a shuttle bus there too - and also run a shuttle bus to Patong - neither of which are very expensive. You are better off using these than the taxi drivers outside the hotel who jump on you as soon as you come out of the hotel - even if you are getting on the bus to the Cape Panwa ! The Bay Hotel is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location â I would recommend this hotel to anyone."

Great time in The Bay
"Had a one week trip in February to the Bay Hotel in Cape Panwa. The Cape Panwa area is quite far from the hustle and bustle of Kata, Karon and Patong beaches - so this is a nice place if you prefer quietness. If you want to go shopping, prepare to pay 800-1000 THB for the taxi to the Karon beach. I was staying in a studio in the Bay side wing. The studio was really a big one and very practical. It had a nice parquet floor, comfy twin beds and a large balcony overlooking the beautiful garden. Also the safebox in the room was free of charge. Studio had a small kitchen and a sofa area, which was also really comfy. In the evening you could relax watching the tv or listening music from the cd-player. Bathroom was large and had a tube and also a spacy shower stall. The hotel had two swimming pools. My favourite was the pool, which was on the roof top. Had a superb view over the sea and the islands (Lon,Coral) nearby. The sunset was beautiful from there. The breakfast was good, also the service was excellent. Tried ones the italian Uncle Nan's restaurant - nothing to complain about. The best food I got from the little restaurant opposite the hotel, I think it was called Sawasdee. Cheap and delicious food, but the restaurant was always full. Had nice island trips to the Khai (Nok, Nui and Nai), Coral and Phi Phi islands. Booked them from Franko - really a lovely guy, who sells trips on the main street. To the Coral island you could get with the own boat of the Cape Panwa hotel - 500 THB round trip. But had to admit that Coral island wasn't anything special. Also used the services of the sister hotel Cape Panwa, which has a private beach. But if I'm honest, the beach was just averige. Beacause of the strong wing, there was a lot of rubbish on the beach every day. Have seen many, many more beautiful beaches in Thailand. Overall had a relaxing time in The Bay Hotel and would recommend it."

Great value in a peaceful area.
"Stayed at The Bay Hotel for the last week in January. Not sure if we received the room we booked or an upgrade but for not much more than £30 a night we had a suite with large lounge, bedroom and bathroom. We were on the top floor with fabulous views. Lower floors might not be quite as good. The rooms were quite dated but they were well serviced. Wifi available in our room. Breakfast completely OK. Easy access to the sister hotel which had lovely gardens and a pleasant beach. Complex was in a fairly isolated spot which suited us. Good cheap food available locally. Easy to eat for less than £6 for two including one drink each. Food within the hotel much dearer. For the best flavours try the stalls which pitch upoutside the hotel each day"
