Loved Sandalwood Villas
"My family and I had a wonderful time at the Sandalwood Villas. The view was incredible and we especially loved the spacious outside decks and infinity pools next to the beautiful gardens and Buddhist art. The wonderful food, good service, and friendly staff made our visit very enjoyable. I would stay there again in a heart beat. And I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants some serious rest and relaxation away from the cares and fast pace of everyday life. It's a very reasonably priced accommodation that is truly a very special place on Kho Samui island. Peaceful, romantic, and restful. Loved it. My five year old boy was in heaven with so much to explore. Thailand at its best."

"We recently had a wonderful 8 days at Sandalwood Luxury Villas staying in the Camellia Villa. It has bedding to accommodate up to 4 people and has its own small private infinity pool including spa jets. One of only 8 villas in the entire resort. We purchased a "stay 8 for 6" package in the low season commencing May 1 and booked directly with Sathit, the General Manager. Our emails were responded to promptly and there was no problem with communication. Transfers were provided by the resort which made it easy to get to and from the airport. Pick up was in an air conditioned vehicle and cold water was offered immediately on boarding our car. There was also no problem getting a hire car delivered and collected from the resort at a very reasonable rate. The first thing that strikes you is the beautiful and picturesque setting of this wonderful resort. Set high on a mountain between Chaweng and Lamai Beaches. From every aspect there is a magnificent view of the north east coast line of Samui. Particularly beautiful in the evening. The access road is steep for people who do not live in San Francisco but easily negotiable by motor car. You would not be able to walk up this road so be prepared to require some sort of transport. (Have heard mentioned that local taxis do not like to ascend the climb, but it is quite safe). There is a courtesy shuttle at 11am provided by Sandalwood if required. The facilities are first class and the decor is marble and timber with tasteful thai decorations throughout providing all modern amenities that are maintained beautifully and serviced daily. I particularly liked the concealed red lighting that created a very nice atmosphere at night. There are also a number of occasional furniture items such as lamps, tables and sofas with the down lights fitted with dimmer switches. The bed was large and comfortable and white linen was clean and crisp. The Mini Bar is adequately stocked and very reasonably priced. There is also enough room to store any food requiring refrigeration that you have purchased from down town. The daily service clean was immaculate. Bathroom facilities were exceptionally clean and bottled water provided for consumption. Essential oils are provided in the room and add to the ambiance. The private pool on the veranda was crystal clear and cleaned during our stay. The gardens and surrounds are well maintained and very pretty. The reception area was very peaceful, the music very relaxing and the infinity pool is crystal clear and a delight taking in a breathtaking view of the coral cove, island coast and bay area. The staff were very attentive and fulfilled all our needs. We were fortunate to have the entire resort to ourselves for a couple of days as well as being entertained by partner/owners Mary and George. Their hospitality was exceptional. We were even invited to Marys Birthday Party! I would highly recommend the spa treatments at Sandalwood and the girls Mauy and Dee are truly warm and friendly and i will certainly miss their wonderful massages and friendly greetings everytime we saw them. Free internet was a bonus and available at any time, advice on places of interest was provided as well as a selection of books, cd's and dvd's for enjoyment. Cable tv was available in room and the villa was air conditioned for comfort. The restaurant is open all day from 8 am and you can enjoy your meal either on the balcony or at the table, the food is delicious and well presented. The menu offers both traditional Thai and Western food. Breakfast(which was included in the rate) was always a treat (there is a choice of 4 different types, American, Continental, Traditional Thai and Spa) providing a satisfying start to the busy day or just relaxing. Very reasonably priced so there is no need to venture away from the resort however there is a lot to see and experience on Samui. This resort is not in the heart of Samui business district but you can enjoy the experience of "Samui" with it array of Markets, Bars, Beaches, Restaurants and local attractions and retreat to the tranquility that Sandalwood offers to unwind and relax and be pampered. We certainly enjoyed every aspect of Sandalwood and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for this type of holiday."

"I have just returned from beautiful Koh Samui and the Sandalwood Villas. The rooms are reallyt lovely, well decorated and provided with most things a traveler could want. The exterior too is quite lovely, with meandering paths that constantly surprise one with statuary amd small temples. There are two, yes two, infinity pools with crystal clean water. Food was great, and genuinely Thai, But the very best thing about Sandalwood werre the people who run it, George and Mary (expats from SFO) and their well trained and attentive staff. I would recommend this place to anyonei nterested in travelling to Thailand"

A Remarkable Find
"We spent a wonderful week at the Sandalwood. After a steep climb, you are rewarded handsomely. The villas are spacious and well decorated. The views are stunning. And the staff is extraordinary - helpful beyond belief, and with very nice personal touches by the owner (who is from the United States). One of the great things about the villa is that after spending a day at the beach with lots of tourists and among the many shops, you can escape in the evening to a quiet villa (and with a great restaurant, as well). And, as a family of four, we felt as if the kids were more than a problem - and the staff was always ready and available to help us any way they could. I cannot say enough wonderful things.Welt as if we got five star treatment at a very reasonable price."

Views, Views and more Views!
"My fiance and I stayed at the the Sandalwood for a long weekend and we were very, very pleased. We stayed in Jumpee, which sits right next to the pool, and the views were spectacular. Most of the time it felt like we had our own private infinity pool. The food is excellent and the staff and owners were so fun and helpful we rarely left the resort. We did venture to the beach down the road from villas, it was very close, very quiet and the owners were gracious enough to give us a ride. If you are looking for a nice quite spot with the best views on the island I HIGHLY recommend the Sandalwood."

"Not long returned from a wonderful stay at the Sandalwood villas. Set between the resorts of Chewang and Lamai, on a Coconut Palm tree laden Mountain side, the Sandalwood villas fantastic position enables you to see over the length of Chewang and far out to the north east parts of the Island. The Sandalwood website itself gives a very accurate view of all the Villas, facilities and services available. And booking independently over the Internet and choosing the right villas for you, is made easy with the assistance of Mr Sathit the General Manager, who was always quick to respond to our E-Mails and enquiries. Going with Friends we had two villas the Malee and Jumpee, both had along side a wonderful infinity pool, which while swimming, allowed you a stunning view of Koh Matlang Island out to sea. The large bright rooms were kept immaculately clean along with all other areas and facilities within the grounds. And having your own private Jacuzzi on the Balcony meant being able to relax and have a refreshing drink while watching the sunset. (Amazing) Eating evenings at the Restaurant situated at the top of the complex gave a dilemma as to which was best, the stunning views on show or the sight and aromaâs of the wonderfully freshly prepared Thai dishes which were excellently presented every time. Getting out and about is easy, sandalwood provide a shuttle facility to Chewang day time and early evening , for a small fee, or of course there are Taxiâs, but on returning make sure the taxi driver understands that you want to go up the hill to the Resort, as not all are keen to do so. (Itâs never that much of a problem though, we only had one who didnât want to take us all the way.) You can hire a car at Sandalwoods from the owners very reasonably, to get around koh Samui. It only takeâs about 2 hrs to take a leisurely drive around the island, or you can make a good day of it by stopping at all the places of interest and secluded beachâs along the way. If you do, stop for Lunch at Big John seafood on the west coast, can be quite popular though. The biggest plus about sandalwoods and their best asset is though something that you canât appreciate unless you go there for yourselves, and thatâs the Staff, nothing was ever too much trouble, and service was always with a smile. From the moment of your welcome on arrival, real customer satisfaction is their aim, delivered in a professional, but personal friendly manner. (A credit to you Sandalwood's) Our most recommended thing to do while staying at the Sandalwood villas is to use the Spa facilities, my wife and I had the Traditional Thai massage while we were there, in surroundings conducive to a most wonderful and enjoyably relaxing experience. We hope to travel further around Asia next year, but going back to Koh Samui and the Sandalwood villas will definitely feature towards the end of our touring, as we look forward to seeing old friends. And de-stressing through enjoying the Sandalwood experience again. Well done, Thanks for a great time, And good Luck to all,"

"This resort was very clean, with happy, helpful staff, you have to drive up a short hill to get there, but it is worth it because the views are magnificent, and it is quieter at night then other places we stayed. The food and service were excellent. They picked us up, and got us a rental car for the time we were there; it was convenient and very easy. I will stay there every time I go to Ko Samui"

Paradise on Samui
"Just returned from Sandlewood Villas Samui and had an absolutely wonderful time. The villas are set in a fantastic position high on a mountain between Chewang and Lamai and overlook the whole of the Chewang beach area right across to the airport. We booked over the internet direct which was very easy and the General Manager answered all our questions and emails the next day and gave us good advice to which villas would suit us. We booked 2 villas as we travelled with friends and stayed in Jumpee and Malee. Both villas were at the lower end of the complex and beside the pool area with fantastic views. The villas were exactly as shown and presented on the internet and there were no hidden surprises everything was as was stated and portrayed on the website. The rooms were large and bright and kept immaculately clean as all other facilities and areas of the complex. We found all the staff to be very professional, friendly and polite and nothing was too much for them to do including the cook who served our breakfast every day and cooked our evening meals. We found it very nice and relaxing to eat in the restaurant evenings which is situated at the top of the complex with stunning views overlooking the mountains and bay and the freshly prepared and cooked Thai food was excellently presented every time. One slight downside to some people might be the location up the mountain but this is compensated by the stunning views. We never found it a problem as there is a shuttle facility to and fro the hotel for a small fee or you can catch taxis or hire a car from the owners. Whilst we were on holiday the 2 owners were there with their father staying and they introduced themselves to us and asked if all was ok and sorted out a car for us and gave us advice on where to go and what to see they were really nice people. We spent our last night having a drink with them after our meal and complementing them on how nice and good their villa complex was and how professional all their staff were which was a credit to them. We hope to travel around Asia again next year and end up back to this villa complex to unwind and relax as we did this year and would like to thank all at Sandalwood Villas for a great time and well done and good luck."

"my wife and i stayed for 15 nights in villa amarin and overall i must say we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is in a very peacefull situation high up a mountain but still within easy reach of the bars and eateries of chewang and lamai no more than 10 mins away. our villa was situated near the lower infinity pool and was spotless with all immenities one would expect including cooking facilities if you required that. the mini bar prices were reasonable by hotel standards and they would get whatever you wanted over and above the normal list quickly and not over charge . i asked for big bottles of beer rather than the small cans and within an hour they had returned from thier supplier with a selection for me!....very impressed! the hotel has a small bar and restaurant which we used more than we thought we would and i have to say the food was a delight whether it was breakfast or evening meal we had lovely food on every occasion actually better than a lot of the places we ate out at. free internet, dvd's, cd's all helped make the stay enjoyable. the place was full when we arrived but it was never crowded and then it seemed we were alone in the place for a couple of days before more people arrived but all were great company but you always felt you were in a private place to relax and unwind. i think it must be said that it is a very steep hill up to the hotel and some taxies would not take you up to it so you must make sure that they will before getting in or you may be left standing at the bottom! as some guests were. the hotel will take you to wherever you want to go and pick you up for a small charge. also it is a climb up many steps to the reception and upper pool and then further up to the bar so if you have mobility probs then this place is not for you. finally to the staff............what can i say!......they are simply fantastic....every one of them so friendly and willing to take care of your every wish. not a thing is to much trouble and all marshalled by sathit the manager who was most helpfull. superb job everyone....take a bow!!!"
