Our stay at Chaba Cabana Beach Resort & Spa
"Just had a brilliant three weeks holiday the staff were very friendly &. Always smiling. The restaurant manager " nop " was very good also bar manageress Jarinya was lovely. On her day off she took us on a tour of the island which we really enjoyed. There are plenty of choices for eating out but the food in restaurant is very good would definitely go back again Carole & David Crich Derbyshire England. . "

"Have been to the Chaba Cabana twice. First time in October 2006 and then again in October 2007. On both occasions the hotel was outstanding and the setting is beautiful. We are hoping to return again in August of this year as we are now hooked on this hotel. Once you,ve been you,ll feel the same. Rooms are clean and well equiped and staff are always smiling. Breakfast overlooking the beach is something special as the beach is superb."

Lovely hotel with extremely lovely staff...
"Lovely hotel with extremely lovely staff. Food excellent. Service amazing. Rooms are good, some better than others. 4 star hotel but staff and facilities worthy of a 5 really. Was there for Christmas and New Year 2007, and so much effort went into making it wonderful. Beach is great and it is just far enough from town to be quiet but still having all amenities on hand. A truly great place to be. Chaweng as a town is much busier than I thought it would be, but there are so many restaurants and pubs there is lots of choice."

"We stayed at Chaba Cabana for 3 nights and were very impressed. We had chosen the resort after reading the complimentary reviews on this website and were pleased to find they were quite accurate. The location of the resort is great - at the very end of the main beach so you are away from the noise and congestion but still close enough to walk into town. We walked the full length of the beach a couple of times and given the price we paid we believe Chaba represented the best value for money compared to the other resorts. The pool was large and lovely to look at, the bar was open long hours and the restaurant was clean and modern, with a wonderful outlook over the beach. The staff were fantastically friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a Suite which was lovely - spacious and well-appointed, although the shower wasn't working properly when we arrived (it was fixed immediately though). Our only tip would be to get down to the pool/beach early and stake a lounge as they go very early. Overall, a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for all of the features of a 5 star resort at a reasonable price."

Pretty much fautless. Would recommend this hotel highly
"We booked this hotel as a package through Dial-a-flight who were excellent I might add. We had 2 nights stay in Bangkok at the Landmark (Executive suite), 10 days stay here then 1 more night in Bangkok at the Landmark ( Executive suite again). Direct flights with Quantas/BA and internal flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui . I would recommend this itinerary as everything went perfectly. Right ....now to the review. What a great place to stay!!. As a previous advisor has written this is without doubt the best place to stay if you wanted to stay at Chaweng beach. Yes there are fancier hotels but for location, look , price and last but certainly not least its service this would be hard to beat. As you read in plenty or these reviews on tripadvisor what is one persons paradise is another persons whinge. But you would be hard pushed to find something to have a proper gripe about here. Yes the rooms are fairly basic but what hotel room isn't really . They are nicely decorated and comfortable with good air con, a telly that had 3 english channels (1 news, 1 sport , 1 film) a wardrobe with a safe in , a fridge, a nice large bed with plenty of pillows(not just the usual 1 you get in alot of hotel rooms) beach and bathroom towels and washing products changed daily if used and plenty of hot water. Also a small balcony area with chairs and a small table. These rooms were always always kept clean and this was even if you didn't decide to have your room tidied until later in the afternoon. The Breakfast area was excellent . With a big choice of cereals, breads, fruits, drinks ,hot food and egg dishes . Always a good number of waiters/waitresses and a handy 6.30am to 10.30am time window for those people like us who like a lie in. This Breakfast area turned into the C front restaurant for dinner and had a very good A La Carte menu.Which was nicely broken up with 2 or 3 theme nights like Steak or Thai Buffet or Pasta . By the way we also thought the restaurant Olivio next door had very nice food too, with a nice wine list . Though be prepared for a slow meal, personally we dont mind that but if your plan is a quick in and out you may need to tell them first. The pool area was lovely with quite a few loungers scattered around. Although I can imagine in a real busy time these would be hard to get. There are about a dozen loungers down on the beach though which is where we spent most of our time. The beach is lovely and varies quite alot in size depending on the tide. It is very flat and shallow and you can walk quite away out before it starts to deepen on you which is great if you have kids . It's also like a luke warm bath . and for the snorkelers out there, as long as the waters not too murky due to the sand being whipped up by the tide there is a nice little reef within 150 yards of the beach. There is a great difference on the North end part of Chaweng beach where the hotel is situated than the middle and South part of the beach when the sea gets rough (which happened once while we were there)the reef keeps the waves down to a minimum where as the other parts become very rough. The beach walk is nice especially when it gets too hot to lay there during the day and is also done to make your way into the main Chaweng strip in the evening. Just shoot through at the Iyara Beach hotel and your more or less at the start of Chawengs main drag. Although if you walk out to the top of the road to the hotel for 50 baht each you can get either a moped taxi or a pick up truck taxi . Or 100-200 baht for a normal taxi . There are plenty of places across the road there to hire a moped for 200 baht for the day too. The Spa area looks and sounds very nice too , but we didn't actually get to use that area. Prefering to use the massage girls that are attatched to the hotel instead and we did this quite a few times , they are situated to the right of the pool and are excellent and very reasonable at 300 baht for an hours Thai or Oil massage. Lastly the Beach bar- We spent many a night sitting at the bar being expertly looked after by the head bar man " H " (Although we called him "S" for most of the holiday due to a misunderstanding and he didn't actually tell us until the last night ,as he thought it was just our nickname for him ). He was always very very helpful and responsive to all our needs and he was a credit to the Hotel. In fact I would go as far as to say he was a star and we can honestly say that we have made a friend while in Koh Samui .He was even kind enough to show us sites around the Island and took us fishing on his time off. The whole staff are very nice people and exceptionally helpful and special mention has to be made of the lovely Mon who is one of the bar girls . She was a real character with a cheeky minx side to her and it has to be taken in the right way. She'll either be your cup of tea or not.But we loved her. The bar had 2 happy hours in the evening 5 till 6 and 10 till 11 by the way and a decent lunch and snack menu Two or three times we stayed in Chaweng to eat somewhere else or fancied a noisier evening,Oh and to do some MORE shopping. But most nights we seemed to make our way back to the bar to finish our evenings off . There was also a pretty good live 2 piece band that played most nights between the bar and the restaurant areas. Overall as you can read we had a great experience and a top holiday and would deffinitely go back again . Enjoy your stay!! We did."

Cute, charming & very friendly
"We stayed for a week at the Chaba Cabana beach resort & had one of our best holidays ever. I wouldn't say that it is one of the most upmarket hotels in Koh Samui but it has more charm and character than all the other hotels along Chaweng beach. The rooms are ok, nothing special but the whole charm of the resort, the bar, the swimming pool and the staff more than compensates. It has a really good massage hut and the massages are unbeatable, an hour of pure bliss for less than £5! Because it is not a huge resort, we made friends easily with most of the guests and had some really good nights out with them in the town. We have stayed in some very expensive top class hotels and find that nobody speaks to anyone else and they can be rather formal and unfriendly. We would definitely love to go back to this hotel, in fact I can't wait!"

"24-November-2006 We have just returned from 13 days at the The Chaba Cabana Resort Koh Samui. The Resort is fantastic with incredible service . It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the Resort to go and have a look at the rest of the Island. In fact we only left the Resort twice once to do an Island Tour and to do a spot of shopping. We stayed in one of the Deluxe Villa's, a lovely room with a view to the sea from the balcony. The breakfast is a lovely hot bacon, eggs etc any way you like or continental spread with cereals, fresh tropical fruit and danish pastries etc and the resturant for lunch or Dinner has a huge Menu with fantastic views of the bay from any table and the one of the best service staff we have experienced any where in the world. The pools are lovely with a choice of 3 to choose from, the main one with a swim up bar and a childrens pool (although very few children present), The sun lounges were great with food and beverage service to die for, Food, cocktails, wines, spirits and beers at the wave of an arm or a few meters walk to the pool /beach bar. The Spa is out of this world and not expensive by any standard and fabulous. Overall I would say this is probably the best Resort we have ever stayed in on holiday and being in the business ourselves we are fairly fussy. If you are looking for somthing slightly away from the main beach but only a 15 to 20 minite stroll along the beach to the main shopping and club, resturant area of Koh Samui this is very definatly the spot."

location location location
"We read many reviews of this hotel before booking and only one was negative. (you can't please all the people all the tme). It was everything we expected and we were really pleased with our choice. Our room was quite high up and the stairs were a struggle, if necessary request a lower floor. A comment was made by someone else on the cleanliness and this was a concern for us. However the room was spotless when we arrived, although daily standards of cleaning did lack attention to detail the room was never dirty. The location of this hotel is perfect, it is on the seafront, far enough out of town to avoid the hassle sometimes caused by nightlife, but close enough to walk into town along the beach. If you take the road it is very hilly and a taxi is recommended. The standard price was approx 100 baht although we did have to haggle a few times. (just make it a fun and friendly haggle). Finally we would like to recommend the Anong resturant at the top of the hill, we didint try it until late in our stay and it was the best food we had at a really inexpensive rate. The sizzling dishes were fantastic. Enjoy your stay."

Practically Perfect in every way
"We stayed at Chaba Cabana for the first 2 weeks in October. We arrived late evening after missing our connecting flight, however the transfer car was still waiting for us at the the amazing airport which is basically wooden huts at the side of the runway. Our room was great, greeted with complimentary fruit, flowers on the bed and a fragrant candle burning. Only steps away from the beautiful beach. The staff at this hotel are so friendly and more relaxed than in the other resorts we visited, nothing is too much trouble and always a smile considering they work long hours for very little pay. Always ready to have a laugh with you - Mon, the waitress in the poolside bar is a complete star, she speaks very good english and can help you with anything from finding a good tailor to advising on what to put on your mozzie bites!! Try the beach side massage huts, great manicures , pedicures and traditional massages for about 200 baht. The food and service at hotel restaurant is very good, yes - more expensive than other places but you can eat as much as you like and it's nice to see your food prepared in spotless clean conditions. We did a couple of trips, only advice is beware if you go anywhere in a jeep, health and safety is non existant and a lot of them are really not suitable for anyone who is maybe getting on a bit or young children. We did one that included elephant trecking - but we felt so guilty riding on the back of this magnificent 40 year old beast which was being poked behind the ears with a sharp stick by the guide to get it to go in the right direction - a very thought provoking, concience pricking experience. The main Road is a different world from the beach side, but don't be afraid to go into any of the bars along the main road, even the lady boy show bars are a scream... suitable for all (over 18). The thai boxing is also an experience, this will set you back 800B but make sure you get into a recognised taxi as you have to drive through a very "dodgy" area to get to the stadium. We had rain every day but it didn't last long, and even when it's overcast the sun get's you ......As do the mozzies, take plently of protection and if you do get bit - rub tiger balm into your bites - (advice from Mon at the Bar) it works miracles. Chaba Cabana is an ideal location, great staff, service and clean I would re-visit and if you are planning a visit soon, I'm sure you'll have a great time."

very pleasing holiday and excellent staff
"My fiance and I stayed at the Chaba Cabana Resort for 2 weeks the end of sept/beg oct. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and given cold flannels to mop our sweaty brows! The entire hotel is decorated in a eye catching tribal design, the bedroom itself was nice- all you needed with the essential air conditioning and we were delighted to find we had a four poster bed! The location was perfect- at the quieter north end of chaweng beach but only a short walk to the center. Lovely white sandy beach with beautiful turquoise sea that you could walk out a good distance and only be waist high. One very important thing we were told was that if you visit during the rainy season (end of october-dec/jan) THERE IS NO BEACH as the tide is so high, so if you want to lay on the beach most of the day pick another time of year! There are many beach traders that walk up and down the beach selling sarongs, wooden ornaments, food etc. They can be a tad annoying as they stand in front of you whilst you're sunbathing trying to get your attention shouting 'cheap cheap, happy hour'! but if you do buy anything always haggle on the price! There are plenty of restaurants to eat out every night all varying in price, we found the hotel restauarants were more stunning but pricier than independent restaurants- but in our experience you get amazing service in the hotels. One hotel restaurant in particular an italian called Prego run by Amari Palm Reef hotel provided the most amazing service and made you feel very welcome and special and it wasnt expensive, we went to this restaurant more than any other. The restaurant at Chaba Cabana was very nice, serving a variety of food, the staff were again very friendly and most nights had a theme night e.g. italian, thai, steak, seafood etc. However we only ate here a couple of times as it was over priced only because service charge and tax of 17% is added onto your bill and then on top of that giving a tip (10%) so in the end you pay about 27% on top of your dinner!! You must eat along one of the independent restaurants right on the beach, very romantic as the sea gently laps at your feet with only an oil lamp to see what you're eating! A must is an amazing workshop where you can buy souvenirs like wooden carvings of elephants and buddhas at a fraction of the price compared to the UK which is five minutes up the road after turning right out onto the main road from the hotel. Its worth doing a day trip which all vary in price, getting to see the mummified monk, massive golden bhudda, temples and the most memorable- grandmother and grandfather rock- two naturally formed rocks that look like the male and female genitals!! The hotel has a spa and we had a traditional thai massage which was interesting to say the least- they really stretch your body out and can be a bit uncomfortable but we enjoyed it! We saw a wedding at the hotel which was lovely, the couple had a bhuddist blessing and got married on the beach under a beautifully decorated archway. One last tip is to get a taxi to tesco- yes they have a tesco! And buy bottles of water and snack food- its soo much cheaper than what the hotel charges. The lasting memory of our hotel is the impeccable service, the staff always smiling and made you feel welcome. We would definitely recommend this hotel for your next holiday."

"We spent a week in this resort and were delighted with the service and amenities provided by the resort. The resort is practically on the beach (north part of Chaweng beach). The stay was pleasant and quiet with anything you need within twenty yards. The hotel is nicely situated for couples and romantic getaways - it is still within 10-15 minutes walk to Chaweng town. The rooms were spacious, clean, nicely decorated. The resort provides a good quality restaurant with both Thai and western cuisine. There is also a bar serving spirits, cocktails, and snacks, and a pool bar. Every night there is a live (but not loud) music in the bar and you can enjoy a fantastic beach walk. This is particularily important if you are not interested in visiting Chaweng town every night. All the staff was very welcoming and friendly - all in all a very pleasant stay and would definately go back there."
