10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"No doubt, Pangkor Laut is a beautiful spot and a very nice resort. We enjoyed our holidays - until the last day. On the last day - theft from the locked room, which was also locked as we returned from the beach. Has been done by somebody who had access to the room keys, almost surely somebody from the hotel stuff, who new that we would be leaving on the next day. At least they were so nice not to steal our passport and "only" took a videocamera, two fotocameras and two mobile phones. Again, the room was locked and Pangkor Laut is an uninhabited, secluded island. Absolute ignorance from the receptionists, limited regrets from the manager on duty, security stuff hasn't spend more than 5 minutes in our room "investigating". A little bit too much for a member of "Small luxury hotels" and a resort claiming itself to be top of the world."

Perfect location for intimate beach wedding
"My mother is Chinese Malaysian so I had heard about this resort from my relatives. I decided to get married there because I wanted a beach wedding, and Pangkor Laut is only one of a handful of resorts in Malaysia where you get a legal wedding ceremony actually on the beach. The resort provided a wedding organiser, Mr Zainal, who was very gracious & helpful at all times. The staff knew of our wedding plans so we were upgraded from a beach villa to a sea villa upon arrival. We spent 10 days there and could not have experienced a more relaxing & luxurious holiday. We paid for an all-inclusive food package, which worked out approx 40GBP per person per day for 3 meals but that included all non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day."

"We went to Pangkor Laut Resort for our honeymoon. We spent 9 days there. We had never heard of the place prior to searching on the internet and what a wonderful find it was! This place is truly paradise. We could not find one tiny fault. We originally booked a beach villa, but were upgraded to a spa villa free of charge. The people are the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet. We felt like royalty and were treated with kindness and respect. I read some poor reviews prior to going and was a bit skeptical. Those reviewers must have been out of their minds, because this place is faultless. It was perfect for a honeymoon - no kids, just peace, relaxation and complete luxury. Don't miss visiting this place, you haven't travelled or lived until you have been here."

Excellent Escapist Resort
"Stayed 10 nights in the Spa Village Overwater Villa.
Room & Facilities Excellent, especially the Bath.
Room Service Excellent.
Staff were Really nice & Friendly, could not do enough for you.
The 3 Restaurants I would Rate as follows
1) Uncle Lims Chinese
2) Sumardra Malaysian
3) Fishermans Cove
Emerald Bay was Beautiful & quiet, but expect occasional Tree Snake
or Monitor Lizard. Did not bother me, they are harmless !
The 3 Musicians that played Acoustic & sang were very talented and enjoyable.
Layout is a bit of a maze at first, till you get used to it. Bus service handy.
This is a 5 Star resort, and it really shows, they deserve all 5 of them.
It is a Romantic Couples Escapist resort, Ideal for Honeymoons.
Many thanks to Ross Sanders for his attention & help.
We had a really great Holiday, and would like to thank all the Staff
for making it very special."

Paradise on earth !
"Simply brilliant ! Some reviewers are expecting too much. Travelled all around the world and can easily say:
- brilliant hotel and destination for up to 7 nights. If you are expecting to do much then go somewhere else.
- the spa and the treatments are exceptional.
- prices are very competitive. For a destination hotel on a secluded island they could have lynched you with the prices especially the food. Very good value for money. Uncle Lim's brilliant, Fisherman Cove also brilliant, Samudra nothing special.
- staff are very friendly and languages are not a problem...if someone does not understand you I am sure they can find you someone who can !
- Emerald Bay is a lovely beach...clean but maybe not snorkelling material !
- not really a destination for children although some were happily there."

"What a resort !Great food. I loved the hill villa we were staying at. Service is absolutely great. While lying on the beach they come around with cold water, then again with fresh orange juice. I definately loved the resort and will definately be back after I saved some money , ..lol. I would recommend the resort to everyone. We saw monkeys and beautiful birds as well. Check out the website, it's that and more !!! Enjoy your stay !"

"A purely exquisite island with a breathtaking back-drop of trees, shrubs
and differing fauna. Emerald Bay as part of this resort is also a picture.
Stayed 9 nts March/ April 2005 and came away having experienced peace and tranquility. Our stay was in a Spa Villa allowing us the privacy of Spa Village(no children under 16).
The Fisherman's Cove was our favourite Restaurant with fresh seafood on offer(What a size those King Prawns were).
Many positve comments have been made about this resort and it is understandable why it has become such a popular destination.
If I had to be negative it would be that the food at Uncle Lims is not very hot, although it is tasty.
Would definitely return."

"We stayed at Pangkor Laut for 3 night in February 2005. We had a garden villa since the beach villas were taken. The location of the garden villa nice and we had visits from peacocks aand hornbills on the balcony. The only drawback was that it was located a bit to near the tennis courts and the view was not that great. The room was perfect and we especially loved the tub. On my birthday we booked dinner on "Dinner on the rock" which is located on Emerald Bay. The food was all fish but very good prepared. The also had live music. These 3 guys were playing the contrabass and gitar. They sang harmonies and asked each table for requests. It was great! Eating out on a beautiful beach at sunset with your loved one and enjoying live music. Very romantic. NB! The restaurant only has 10 tables. When we got back to our room our personal assistent had filled the tub with water, put roses and orchids in the water and lit candlelights. Very romantic!
The shuttle service is great. Just vawe at a car or pick up the phone and they will come and get you. We also tried out The Uncle Lim which is a chinese restaurant. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Me and my wife will defintly come back."

"We have just returned from 10 days at Pangkor Laut and i can say it exceded our expectations. We stayed in a sea villa and the sound of the waves in the morning was so relaxing. The food at all the restaurants was very good, i enjoyed the sumatra the most and fishermans cove the least.
The food was also a lot cheaper than i expected which meant we could spend more in the spa.
The beach was stunning and so quiet, You had the place to your selves most of the time.
But the staff made all the difference, first class."
