A peaceful retreat in Langkawi - ps don't tell anyone!
"Langkawi was our rest stop after 8 months of travel - we wanted somewhere easy, relaxing and away from the Malaysia monsoon, having just been to Borneo. And Villa Molek was the perfect place to stay - convenient, everything you needed and comfortable but not overly luxurious. The rooms are very spacious and modern, exceptionally clean and the bed was so comfortable, breakfasts were lovely as you could have whatever you wanted. The staff were always smiling and very helpful - we even had a our breakfast delivered the night before e had to leave on an early trip to Thailand. And the location is 100 times better (and quieter) than Petang Beach, which would have been an awful place to stay in my opinion!"

Resort quality....bargain price
"Stayed here for 4 nights in March after staying at Casa Del Mar.
Two very different venues & budgets but Villa Molek competes very favourably at half the price.
Rooms are huge, nicely set out with separate living area & kitchenette.
Air con is perfect & TV reception is good although channel choice is limited.
Pool is small but well kept & reasonably cool, unlike many others in Langkawi
Breakfast is basic but filling & service was friendly & helpful without intrusion.
Located at Pantai Tengah, a quieter version of Cenang, everything was walking distance including restaurants & beach.
This is a well maintained, private resort.perfect for travellers seeking their own space."

this small hotel certainly has potential, but needs an active staff
"+ good location / bungalows are spacious and modern / many restaurant within walking distance (l'osteria is great!)
- staff does not show any kind of initiative / breakfast poor / few tv channels / swimming pool hardly big enough to swim in"

Friendly welcome in Langkawi
"We stayed in Villa Molek for 6 days and we regret not having stayed for a longer period of time. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are brand new and well decorated, with a personal touch. The pool is rather small but there is a wonderful beach 3min away, worth going for a long walk in the late afternoon. Beakfast is fair, there is a budget for each person but they often don't pay attention to this. Above all, we feel we made some friends there. Worth trying the Italian restaurant in front of the villa. But there also a wide choice of restaurants within a few minutes walking."

A place where you are made to feel welcome and not just another guest
"We went here for our honeymoon, the place only has 12 villas and no children under the age of 18 are allowed. They are the friendliest most helpful staff I have ever encountered and they make you feel so welcome. It is very different to a big resort type environment where you are just a room number, where as here you get greeted at breakfast and asked if you had a good nights sleep.
I highly recommend this place, the rooms are immaculate the furniture is all wooden and modern and it's so nice to have a lounge and kitchen which makes you feel like you have a few of your own home comforts.
The beach is literally a 2 min walk away and the Italian restaurant attached to the place is one of the best in Langkawi."

Don't recommend Langkawi in July, but do recommend Villa Molek
"Were there on a honey moon trip. And though the weather was generally terrible and the beaches were full of garbage, the hotel was wonderful. Newly built, design is a mixture of modern and traditional oriental, nice and helpful staff. Thought that continental breakfast would be a problem, but it wasn't. It was splendid indeed! Free wi-fi (though speed was not very high). Large LCD TV, but for some reason the choice of channels was poor, though it wasn't a problem for us. Swimming pool is not large, but looked very nice.
Strategic location. As you come out of the hotel Italian and Indian restaurants on your right and left. Walk 200m left and on your right there will be a nice local cuisine restaurant called Matahari. Very tasty and prices are reasonable. We visited dozens of other restaurants in Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur, but nothing could be compared to Matahari. If you walk a little bit further in the same direction, there will be a chocolate shop selling chocolate made locally. The choice is awesome and you could buy smth for your friends and relatives back home there."

Nice little gem
"Found out about Villa Molek through tripadvisor forum. No reviews about the villa by then but a few destination experts recommended it so we thought to give it a try. We booked 2 villas (couples only) for 3 nights through the website and received instant confirmation. The taxi driver from the airport had some problems bringing us to Villa Molek since itâs a pretty new establishment, so make sure to bring the hotel contact number along. Check-in and chec-kout process was pretty smooth for us, welcome drinks provided upon our arrival. We found out only the ground floor villa units were open, the upper floor ones were closed temporarily by then. We were the only 2 couples staying in the villas so basically we had the entire place and swimming pool to ourselves (again this hotel is still new, not much ppl know about it). We liked the villa very much mainly due to the quiet location and yet still reachable to the restaurants and pubs out there; we also rented a bike so it makes it easier to move around. The villa itself is clean and cozy with contemporary design. It comes with a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom with poster bed. Don't bother watching the TV, no satellite channels are available. Breakfast is included, and selectable from the ala carte menu, not too bad. Overall we had a nice stay in Villa Molek and would recommend to anyone!"

Very nice place but some teething problems
"We chose Villa Molek for 3 reasons : it was a small and cozy place compared to the large resorts on the island, its excellent situation and its very reasonable prices
The 12 appartments are nicely furnished, each one has a balcony overlooking the swimming pool (which looks nice but is too shallow to be of any use really) Everything is very new but it still needs some fixing here and there (doors not closing, door not installed yet,...).
The team is nice enough but still need some practice... slow check out (their credit card terminal seems to be hooked up to a dial-in internet line from the early nineties), amenities not replaced when empty, missing towels...
The owner of the place, Susanah, is extremely friendly and genuinely concerned with her place and her guests. She speaks many languages and will personnally great you every morning when you take you breafkast (inlucded) under the small patio.
The beach is just a few meters aways and you will find hundreds of restaurants and shops in the nearby Pantai Tengah and Cenang... Make sure you try the Orkid Ria restaurant.
All in all, a great experience for those looking for something more personal than a big resort but perfection is still far away and they will have to get a bit more experience in the coming months."

Beautiful Resort, Comfortable Rooms.
"The room is pretty good, and very much like what is shown on the website. We booked 3 rooms, and each is slightly different from the other, but that's not exactly stated on the website. I'll give you an example, the one I stayed in had an open concept bathroom while the other rooms had doors. So if you're concerned about minor inconveniences of this sort, I think you better check the room before accepting it.
The pool is, in all honesty, small. Didn't see much reason to try it.
Breakfast was good. Each room has a credit of RM30 daily. To give you a feel, we had 1 English Breakfast, 1 Mushroom and Onion Omelette, and 1 set of French Toasts for breakfast, along with Coffee and Orange Juice. That said, I doubt the staff actually keeps track of how much you eat cos they seem more than happy to fulfill subsequent orders.
Internet is only available in the lobby/restaurant though.
Minor inconveniences we had to bear with included the lack of a telephone in the room means you gotta walk to the lobby for your requests. The pathways to the villas were not sheltered, but umbrellas could be borrowed from the lobby at no charge. And there was no clock in the room.
We bargained for free transport 2 ways, so I guess it's advisable to book the hotel thru email instead of the website.
Location wise, amenities are all available nearby thru a 5 min walk. We rented a car, and langkawi being a small island meant that it was easy for us to get around. Roads are fairly easy to navigate with signs readily available. Just keep to the major roads until you're near the attractions you're looking for.
The beach isn't fantastic, however, you could drive down to the more popular beach areas if you want a taste of the sea. We gave that a miss cos it was raining the whole weekend!
Oh, and the resort doesn't allow kids, so its a great place for couples who don't want any kids jumping and screaming around."
