"We really loved the Sari Village Holiday Homes. It is the perfect location for a family with teenagers (who enjoy a little personal space). As mentioned in other reviews, Farina and Zainol are the perfect hosts. They make you feel very at home. The day trip to the private beach was perfect. We will deinfitely try to make it back."

Beautiful villa with a great view

"Pros: - Beautiful sea view and villa. - Nicely maintained villa and surrounding. - Great location for: * Island hopping. We drove down to the jetty (just 5~10 minutes) and booked a boat on the spot (cheaper than booking with hotels). * Food and beach. The Pantai Cenang beach is close by and there's a whole stretch of restaurants along the road. Do be careful about a restaurant selling "best pizza" coz all three of us got food poisoning after eating the potato wedges. - Friendly service. Our main contact, Farina, is helpful and friendly. Cons: - The winding road leading to the villa needs to be widen and sufficiently lit. We end up packing our dinner everynight in order to reach the villa before sunset so that we do not have to drive up that stretch of road. - Water heating system needs improving. The shower alternates between too hot and too cold sometimes. - The whole house is a little too dim even with all the lights turned on. - Some insects (I think that is hard to avoid given a wooden house, but I am a little particular about insects). There are some small cockroaches and big ants in the kitchen area. A strange insect (looks like a cross between grasshopper and moth) was in our bedroom. Also, mosquitos was a problem on the last night of stay."

"The host Zainol and his daughter Farina are very friendly and service oriented. The villas are situated outside the beaten track, you definitely need a rental car to move around. Views are superb and location is private terrain so very relaxing. Langkawi is relatively small island, so navigating around is easy. Continental breakfast served is simple but adequate, fruit delicious, Asian breakfast delicious, portions were a bit too big for us."

A hidden gem in Langkawi

"I stayed at Sari Village for 2 nights with my family - parents and 3 grown children - and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone! The chalets are on top of a hill overlooking the Porto Malai bay, less than 5 minutes drive from Pantai Cenang. They're beautifully constructed traditional Malay wooden houses, with good-sized bedrooms, all air-conditioned. The entire "village" is clean and very well-maintained. This isn't the place for you if you want to be waited on hand and foot - it's a family-run business and they don't offer room service or other hotel facilities, which suited us just fine. Breakfast is included in the tariff and we were provided with very generous portions of excellent food. There's a fridge, toaster, microwave as well as coffee and tea-making facilities, but no cooking facilities - a huge selection of restaurants is just down the road though. Being on a hill it's away from the bustle of Pantai Cenang; if you're on foot it would be quite a climb back though. There's a lovely pool in the grounds that you can use at any time. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and the staff were very helpful - if you can live without room service you'll love this place."

"We stayed at Sari Village for a total of 5 days and can honestly say have rarely recieved such excellent and attentive hosting and friendly welcome. The service was second to none and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. A particular highlight was recieving breakfast on a daily basis at a time that suited us and the effort that was put in was obvious. In short we had a fantastic time at Sari Village and if I ever go back to Langkawi (which I sincerely hope I do) I will be staying in a Sari Village Villa again. Superb."

"Great time in Langkawi, mostly due to a private and quiet place to relax. By the way, a rental car is a necessity. The place can use a little updating, especially bathrooms, and some of the villas are more comfortably furnished than others, so you might want to ask first if there are pillows on the couches and chairs. Only other main issue is that the kitchen is not well-equipped, especially for longer stays. Only a couple of small fridges, toaster, kettle. Could use stovetop, microwave and a bbq would be nice. Owner, Zianol, very nice and very accommodating. Not a 5-star villa, but the privacy is worth it - nice holiday spot."

Quiet and Peaceful Getaway from the Big City

"Sari Village is a quiet, privately owned villa complex away from the crowds and annoyances that one can expect to encounter on any beach getaway. Although there is no access to a private beach on the property, the public beaches are about a 20 minute walk from the complex, less than a 5 minute drive if you have a vehicle. The hilltop land overlooking the sea that Sari Village sits on was originally purchased by 8 Malaysian shareholders, and the villas were constructed about 10 years ago. The owners have grown older and were using their properties less and less frequently, so they decided to begin leasing them out. At the southwest tip of Langkawi, there is a private gate that leads up a very steep hill about 400M long. Once reaching the top, one is greeted by a fantastic view of the sea. Because the village is built on a hilltop, there are plenty of stairs that must be hiked to get to the private villas, each equipped with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, air conditioning, basic kitchens (with absolutely no cooking facilities other than 2 small fridges and a toaster), and a giant balcony with a sea view. Breakfast was included in our stay, which we had on the balcony. The villas are in need of some minor touch ups to add comfort, such as more cushioned seating, but generally, everything a traveler needs is there. There is no TV, phone or internet access, unless you use the equipment in their office. The rest of the complex needs some minor fixing up as well, including some reinforcements to fencing, painting and perhaps a regular cleaning of their swimming pool grounds. The architect and acting manager, Zainol, was very friendly and helpful, and he can arrange a variety of services and activities for you on request. He is very well connected on the island, and can be very resourceful. He also owns a private beach house, about 20 minutes away by boat (which he can arrange), where we spent an afternoon and enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch. Overall, we found the Sari Village to be a little bit pricey considering the condition of the accommodations; however, it was very private, very quiet, and very relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely recommended if you don't mind climbing some stairs everyday, are comfortable driving on the very tame Langkawi roads, don't mind going out for dinner, and most of all, are looking to get away from the crowds."

"Fantastic holiday and the owner are extremly helpful. The villa we had was kept clean and over looked the bay, it was great to sit on the balcony at night and just soak it all up. Location was great overall, only a short trip to bars and restaurants however hiring a car would be advised as you have to go up a very steep hill to get there and some taxi drivers wont even take you- the owners let us borrow there personal car on one day whilst we hired one of our own, they also let us take it to the airport on departure day and said they would collect it at a later time- extremely helpful. The place is ideal for famillies and couples and would recommend it to familly."

"We were welcome by Zainol and family at the airport. He and his staff went out off there way to make sure that our stay was the best ever. Breakfast was a treat, BBQ on the island just fabulous and the the New Year's Eve dinner just out off this world. The accommodation were super luxury and spacious. You are only 5 minutes drive from fine restaurants and spa's. We were staying on the upper villa and yet we almost never saw any other clients. If you are looking for super luxury accommodation and total privacy, well this is the place. Love it,love it !!!!!!"

"Superb Vacation. One of the best we have had as a family. The villas were excellent. Very well designed with a relaxing and comfortable feel to all of them. The rooms and facilities were clean and everything was catered for. totally safe environment for the family. The grounds are very nicely laid out and the units spacious. Bedrooms have AC that works just fine and the full kitchen is convenient to keep things cool and make snacks. Pool is also very nice and refreshing - my son loved it. I would recommend to rent a car if you stay here."
